At Tuesday's House Republican leadership press briefing, Speaker Johnson was asked about two of his members possibly running for New York Governor.

00:00Two of your members, at least Stefanik and Mike Lawler, are both considering runs for governor of New York.
00:05One seat in particular, Congressman Lawler, may be one of the most competitive in the country.
00:10They can't do both. They can't work for governor and congress.
00:12Will you have conversations with them about what works best for your conference?
00:16And have you started having those conversations yet?
00:19I have lots of conversations.
00:21I love them both. They're two of my favorite people and my most trusted colleagues.
00:25And they're both super talented, which is why they get talked about for doing other things.
00:29We have lots of – look, we've got a very talented group here.
00:32We have lots of House Republicans who are being courted to run for Senate or governor or do something big.
00:38I mean, my preference is that they all stay here with me, right?
00:41We get the job done.
00:41But I don't begrudge anybody for having other opportunities, and we ultimately support them in whatever they do.
