Transcript
00:00Lethargic start. Oof.
00:03And then third quarter does it, and Celtics close out the Magic.
00:08And I would argue the best game of the series for Jason Tatum last night.
00:14I mean, yeah, he's been pretty good the whole series.
00:21Yeah.
00:22Doesn't seem like the wrist has been bothering him.
00:24No, no, the wrist hasn't been an issue.
00:26The bruise is healed.
00:27He actually had better games after the wrist injury because in the first game, it was all right.
00:32It was so-so.
00:33But, yeah, and then once Paolo goes to the bench with five fouls.
00:36I was just going to say that.
00:37It was like Paolo was that team.
00:39And so once he was taken out for a bit, then they were able to go on that run, and it was game over from there.
00:45Like the Magic, we've been saying this from the beginning, the Celtics so much more talented across the board than this team.
00:51Matchup to matchup, it just didn't make sense.
00:53So that's why I was worried with how close they let them keep it for a lot of the time.
00:58And then it was just-
00:59Yeah, but also when you have built your entire offense on three-pointers and you don't hit a single three-pointer in the first half, it's harder for this team to win.
01:14And then you turn the ball over and you get killed on the boards.
01:18Like nine turnovers in the first half.
01:19Yeah.
01:20Or something like that.
01:21Yeah.
01:21And you were getting absolutely destroyed on the boards.
01:23Do you give Joe Mazzula credit for turning things around for these guys?
01:27I do, too.
01:28Here's where I give him credit.
01:30They only shot- they were 0 for 7.
01:32Yeah.
01:33Which isn't good.
01:35But they only took seven three-pointers.
01:37Correct.
01:38So he at least put the message in.
01:40Normally when they go 0 for 7-
01:42Because they keep going.
01:43They keep launching.
01:43And you could see they made a clear effort where there was a couple times it was pump fake on the three-point line, get to the rim.
01:51They made a clear effort to say, all right, it's not falling for us.
01:55Let's get to the hole.
01:56And that kept them close in the game, even though they had turnovers and they were getting killed on the boards.
02:00And then they started to heat up in the third quarter.
02:04Would you have-
02:05If you were Joe Mazzula, would you have challenged the call on Porzingis near the end of the first half?
02:12I would have.
02:13The foul on Bencato.
02:16Like, I would have challenged that.
02:18I would have- I might have gone on to challenge the call which sent Wagner to the line last night.
02:28But I-
02:29Oh, you're talking to one Bencato, Benchero?
02:32Yeah, your guy Benchero.
02:33Benchero, Benchero.
02:34Benchero.
02:34Where he didn't even touch him.
02:36No, nothing.
02:37Like, nothing.
02:38He didn't even touch him.
02:39But other than that, yes.
02:40I mean, Joe Mazzula's done a great job coaching this team.
02:42But again, it's-
02:44Energy is on the players.
02:46Energy and turnovers.
02:47It is.
02:47Energy and turnovers I put on the players.
02:50Well, and they can't, for this next series, they can't start out the way that they were starting out against the Magic.
02:54Whether it's the Pistons or the Knicks, it doesn't matter.
02:56Like, they cannot start out that slow.
02:59But remember, the Pistons and the Knicks don't play defense like Orlando does.
03:07The Celtics are better than Orlando, but Orlando is a tough defensive team all around.
03:13Not just defending the three-point line, which they do better than anybody in the NBA, but they're a tough defensive team and they make you work for you to get your points.
03:22So, you're able to do what you did in that series, and I guess part of my lead, I was going to-
03:30I guess I can get into it.
03:31No, save it for your lead.
03:32All right, all right.
03:33Save it, coach.
03:34Can I just say one thing?
03:358.42, tip.
03:36Not for me.
03:378.50, actually, right?
03:38It was 8.42.
03:39Was it?
03:40Okay.
03:40Yeah, by the time they got it started, Courtney's spot on.
03:43It was 8.40.
03:44Okay.
03:45And I get it.
03:46We get up early.
03:47Maybe the rest of the world doesn't get up early.
03:49But I- Why can't you start that basketball game at 7 o'clock?
03:53That was fine on Sunday night.
03:55It's an East Coast game.
03:56It's not even like they're playing on the West Coast.
03:58Because you had Detroit and the Knicks playing, so they had a status.
04:01It's round one.
04:03Shime's right.
04:04It's not the finals.
04:07Like, you're not expecting the whole country to be watching.
04:09And also, the whole country can work their schedule around us.
04:14Right.
04:14That's the way I feel about it.
04:15Agreed.
04:16Well, you would think that if it's on at 8.30, it would be the primetime game, which
04:20it would be on, like, TNT.
04:22It was actually on NBA Network or NBC Sports Boston.
04:26So, if it's going to be the primetime game, shouldn't it have been the 7.30 game, which
04:31was on TNT, which was actually Detroit and New Yorkers?
04:35Isn't that, like, their main channel?
04:36Right.
04:37So, you're saying that New York is a more important market to Boston, and that's why.
04:45No, no.
04:45I was saying Boston is the better draw than New York-Detroit, maybe?
04:52I mean, Boston is playing Orlando.
04:56Okay.
04:56All right.
04:57I see what you're saying.
04:58Orlando doesn't even fill their own arena.
05:02All right.
05:02With Magic fans.
05:03I can kind of see what you're saying.
05:04So, then that's why you got the 8.30 game.
05:05Yeah, I guess.
05:06It's just, it's so late.
