Travelling to Spain or Portugal after power outage? Simon Calder explains your rights Source: The Independent

00:00There were at least 500 cancellations of flights to, from and within Spain and Portugal
00:06on Monday the 28th of April.
00:10By Tuesday the 29th of April, the position is that at least 4,000 people
00:16who were due to fly on flights between the UK, Spain and Portugal
00:21have had those cancelled and as a result of the shutdown of public transport and traffic jams
00:28an awful lot of people who were due to fly back, whose planes actually took off
00:32are not in a position to get home because they weren't able to get to the airport.
00:38Now if you are flying with EasyJet, a really important airline between Spain, Portugal and the UK
00:44they have said you've got three days and we will allow you to fly back on any of those days
00:51just rearrange your flight, there will be no charge.
00:54Other airlines haven't told me that they are doing something similar.
00:58If you're on a package holiday with TUI or Jet 2 holidays, then it is their problem, not yours.
01:04They have to sort it out.
01:06If you have out-of-pocket expenses, you are probably going to have to charge that to your travel insurer
01:14but ultimately if you can get the airline to look after you and get you where you need to be,
01:19that will be great.
01:21And if you're travelling out and you're not quite sure what to do, just take lots of euros
01:26so that you've got plenty of cash in case the payment systems aren't working.
01:30Take maybe a small power bank, not a large one, and put it in your cabin baggage, not your hold luggage.
