00:00For a long time, I dreamed about the band.
00:11There was a need for closure.
00:17It seems like only five minutes ago that we were pushing a broken van back through the streets of London after a gig we played to no one.
00:24Tonight, we play out the fantasy of millions.
00:30I get asked to do a session, and the other musicians are a drummer named Stuart Copeland and a bass player who calls himself Sting.
00:43Within short order, the police, as the world knows the band, is born.
00:49Sting, or I, suggests that maybe we try out his new song.
00:53Rocks in.
00:55You don't have to put on the red light.
00:59We have a great song.
01:00They think we're a punk band.
01:02And we don't destroy officers or insult people.
01:04Well, not to their faces, anyway.
01:12I want my MTV!
01:15I begin photographing everything around me.
01:17Sting is fast becoming a media dog.
01:20Should we film me whooping Sting?
01:22Yes!
01:22That would be good, wouldn't it?
01:23That would be good.
01:24That would be good.
01:24That would be good.
01:24Instead of rejoicing in the unbelievable success we've created together, the studio feels more
01:30like a canvas for dirty fighting.
01:32Each one of us battling for his own territory.
01:34Each one of us wants his instrument slightly louder than the other.
01:38We finish up the album, Ghost in the Machine, and that's about what I feel like, a ghost.
01:43It feels like Sting has already broken away.
01:45I'm quitting first.
01:51I'd just like to introduce the band.
01:53Andy, this is Stuart.
01:55I remember you.
01:56We're going to go on tour.
02:04This is the biggest gig of our lives.
02:06Yeah, there's a feeling of rain.
02:10Raxi!
02:10Life doesn't end here.
02:24Now, it is forever.
02:26Oh, my God.
02:28Yeah!
02:29Oh, my God.
02:30Come on.
02:36We'll be out.
02:38You got to come.
02:38You got to be out.
02:44All right.
02:45The show has passed.
