02:30Gracias por standing up to serve our country at this critical time.
02:35And for those who were elected, particularly those Liberals who were elected,
02:42I am looking forward to working together to deliver for Canadians.
02:48And Bruce, yes, Bruce Vangelo. I'm looking forward to working with Bruce Vangelo.
03:00Fantastic. He is a great, he will be a great MP.
03:04We're going to have fun today. Yes, we're going to have fun.
03:34You know, I chose to enter politics because I felt we needed big changes in this country.
03:45But big changes guided by strong Canadian values.
03:50Values that I learned at the dinner table from my parents, Bob and Verley,
03:54and from my siblings, I appreciate this more in retrospect, from my siblings,
04:00my siblings, Brenda, Sean and Brian.
04:03Values that I learned on the ice from my coaches.
04:07Values that have been reinforced as I've met with Canadians across this great country.
04:14And those include three values that I want to highlight this evening.
04:18Humility. It's Canada, after all.
04:21Ambition. It's Canada, after all.
04:24And unity. It's Canada.
04:31I love you. Right back. Right back.
04:35These are good values. These are Canadian values.
04:39Values that I will do my best.
04:42I'm just getting worked up here.
04:44These are values that I will do my best
04:46to uphold every day
04:48as your Prime Minister.
04:51You betcha.
04:55Okay, well, you have to judge after this next section
04:57because I am going to begin.
04:59I am going to begin with the value of humility
05:01and by admitting
05:03that I have much to be humble
05:05about.
05:07It's true.
05:07Over my long...
05:09That's not an applause line.
05:11It's just a statement of fact.
05:12Over my long career
05:15I have made many mistakes
05:18and I will make more.
05:21But I commit to admitting them openly,
05:24to correcting them quickly
05:25and always learning from them.
05:28You know, humility underscores the importance
05:36of governing as a team in Cabinet
05:39and in Caucus
05:40and working constructively
05:43with all parties across Parliament.
05:47Of working in partnership
05:49with the provinces and the territories
05:52and with Indigenous peoples.
05:54And at this time
05:57it underscores the value
05:59of bringing together
06:00labour, business, civil society
06:01to advance the nation-building investments
06:05we need to transform our economy.
06:08Humility is also
06:10about recognizing
06:12that one of the responsibilities
06:14of government
06:15is to prepare for the worst
06:17not hope for the best.
06:19As I've been warning for months
06:22America
06:24wants our land
06:26our resources
06:27our water
06:28our country
06:29Never.
06:33But these are not
06:34these are not idle threats.
06:37President Trump
06:38is trying to break us
06:40so that America
06:41can own us.
06:43That will never
06:44that will never ever happen.
06:46But we
06:49but we also
06:53must recognize
06:54the reality
06:56that our world
06:56has fundamentally changed.
07:01There is also
07:02for me
07:03as I stand before you
07:04this evening
07:05humility
07:05in recognizing
07:07that well
07:08many
07:09have chosen
07:10to place
07:11your trust in me
07:12trust in the Liberal Party
07:14millions of our fellow citizens
07:17preferred a different outcome.
07:21And my message
07:21to every Canadian
07:22is this
07:23no matter where you live
07:25no matter what language
07:26you speak
07:27no matter how you voted
07:28I will always do my best
07:31to represent
07:32everyone
07:32who calls Canada home.
07:34you know
07:40during this short
07:41during this short campaign
07:43during this short campaign
07:45I went to Saskatchewan
07:47and Alberta
07:47a couple of times
07:48even though
07:49you know
07:51we're liberals
07:51it's tough
07:52it's tough out there
07:52I grew up there
07:53but I went
07:55because
07:56I intend to govern
07:58for all Canadians
07:59and at the end
08:00of this campaign
08:03those Québécois
08:04and Québécoises
08:05opened their doors
08:08and gave me
08:09their confidence

09:15mon gouvernement
09:17va travailler
09:18pour vous tous
09:20pour vous
10:05Porque vamos, vamos a construir.
10:10Build, baby, build.
10:13Y ahora, vamos a construir toda la historia.
10:28No, no, no, no, no, no.
10:58And, because we are Canadian, to do so with compassion and generosity.
11:07We are, we are once again, we are once again at one of those hinge moments of history.
11:15Our old relationship with the United States, a relationship based on steadily increasing integration, is over.
11:23The system of open global trade, anchored by the United States, a system that Canada has relied on since the Second World War,
11:34a system that, while not perfect, has helped deliver prosperity for a country for decades, is over.
11:41These are tragedies, but it's also our new reality.
11:48We are over, we are over the shock of the American betrayal, but we should never forget the lessons.
11:56But you are going to take this forward.
11:58We have to look out for ourselves, and above all, we have to take care of each other.
12:06When I sit down with President Trump, it will be to discuss the future economic and security relationship between two sovereign nations.
12:25And it will be, with our full knowledge, that we have many, many other options than the United States to build prosperity for all Canadians.
12:41We are going to strengthen our relations with faithful partners in Europe, in Asia, and elsewhere.
12:54And if the United States do not want to play a role in the world's role in the world's role, Canada will do it.
13:03We will leave, not the United States.
13:07We are met at home.
13:10We will build millions of homes, a great energy power, a good career in specialized jobs, and a single Canadian economy, not 13.
13:22We will chart a new path forward.
13:25Because this is Canada, and we decide what happens here.
13:33We will need to think big and act bigger.
13:43Your phone's ringing.
13:46It's just, it's all right, it's just, it's good.
13:48All right.
13:50Just, hang on.
13:51It's okay?
13:52Yeah, okay.
13:53It might be important.
13:56I don't know.
13:57We will need to do things previously thought impossible at speeds we haven't seen in generations.
14:07It's time to build twice as many homes every year with an entirely new housing industry using Canadian technology, Canadian skilled workers, Canadian lumber.
14:18It's time to build new trade and energy corridors, working in partnership with the provinces, territories, and indigenous peoples.
14:31It's time to build hundreds of thousands of not just good jobs, but good careers in the skilled trades.
14:42It's time to build Canada into an energy superpower in both clean and conventional energy.
14:51And it's time to build an industrial strategy that makes Canada more competitive while fighting climate change.
14:58We will build one Canadian economy, not 13, with a government committed to free trade in Canada by Canada Day.
15:13The point is, the point is that we can give ourselves far more than the Americans can ever take away.
15:19But even given that, I want to be clear.
15:26The coming days and months will be challenging, and they will call for some sacrifices.
15:32But we will share those sacrifices by supporting our workers and our businesses.
15:37The challenges in front of us are intimidating, and it's normal.
15:45The big changes, like those that we live in, are always worrying.
15:52We have a lot of ways to do, but I have confidence.
15:56I have confidence in you.
15:58I have confidence in Canada.
16:00Because Canada is more than a nation.
16:09We are, and we always will be, a confederation.
16:13A sacred set of ideas and ideals built on practical foundations.
16:18That we know we're not always perfect, but we always strive to be good.
16:23We do things because they're right, not because they're easy.
16:31That we see kindness as a virtue, not as a weakness.
16:36Most importantly, we know that our strength lies in our resolve to work together as a country.
16:42It relies on our unity.
16:46You know, on the second day of this campaign, I went to Gander, where on 9-11,
16:52they welcomed thousands of passengers into their homes without question or hesitation.
16:58I sat down with two of the many heroes of the time, Diane Davis and Beulah Cooper.
17:04And during our conversation, they showed me a thank-you card that they'd received from a young girl called Ellie,
17:10who wrote,
17:12Your kindness motivates me to use my kindness.
17:16That touching phrase captures what Canadians instinctively know.
17:24That virtue is like a muscle that grows with its exercise.
17:29We become just by doing just acts, brave by doing brave acts.
17:34When we are kind, kindness grows.
17:36When we are Canadian, Canada grows.
17:43And united over our history, we have done hard, seemingly impossible things.
17:56United, we have built one nation in harsh conditions, despite a sometimes hostile neighbor.
18:04Yes, they have forum on this, the Americans.
18:08United, we have confronted our own past with indigenous peoples.
18:29United, united, we have created universal public health care.
18:38And now, and now in the face of this crisis, united, we are buying Canadian.
18:43We are exploring everything this country has to offer.
18:46We are supporting our friends and neighbors in the crosshairs of President Trump through a crisis that we did not create.
18:53United, we will win this trade war and build the strongest economy in the G7, an economy that works for everyone.
19:00United, we haveужд, Singapore, Mexico.
19:03United, in the middle of the last few decades.
19:06Under entendu, Canadians, Canadians, Canadians, and Canadians have set their own side.
19:14They united to defend our country and our way of life.
19:26We will fight back with everything we have to get the best deal for Canada.
19:32We will protect our workers and businesses.
19:36And above all, we will build an independent future for our great country.
19:41A future that makes the greatest country on the earth even better.
19:47We will build a Canada worthy of our values.
19:50We will build Canada strong, Canada free, Canada forever.
19:56Vive le Canada.
19:57Thank you very much.
19:58Merci beaucoup.
