From classics like the Big Mac sauce to Wingstop ranch we wanted to find all the differences between fast food sauces in the US and the UK to determine which sauce is the best. We also looked at exclusive sauces from chains like Raising Cane's, In-N-Out, Morley's, and Chick-fil-A. This is "Food Wars."

00:00For some fast food chains, it's not just about the food.
00:03It's all about the sauce.
00:04Sure, we've covered sauce on Food Wars before,
00:06but today we're deep diving into all the exclusive sauces
00:08from the biggest fast food chains.
00:10Who has the best signature sauces for burgers, chicken, pizza?
00:13What about some forbidden fast food combos?
00:15Maybe Domino's Pizza with Wingstop Ranch?
00:17McNuggets and cane sauce?
00:19We're trying everything. This episode's ridiculous.
00:21Mmm.
00:22It's time for Sauce Talk.
00:25We're going to start with our chicken dipping sauce category.
00:28To me, a good sauce has two components.
00:31One, it's delicious on its own,
00:33and two, whatever you add it to,
00:35it enhances both the sauce and the thing you're using to eat it.
00:38Harry, what makes a good sauce for you?
00:40I think for me, a good sauce has to have a few things.
00:42When it comes to the viscosity, it's got to be thick enough
00:44that it clings to whatever you're dunking.
00:46It's got to be tasty in its own right,
00:47but not too tasty so as not to overpower whatever you're dipping.
00:50Excellent point, my man.
00:51All right, first up is Popeyes.
00:52Popeyes in the U.S. has nine dipping sauces.
00:55We're not focusing on the regular sauces like ketchup,
00:57but today we're focusing on chain exclusives and signature sauces.
01:01Popeyes is pretty generous with the sauce packets, I feel.
01:03Let's taste the sauce.
01:07It tastes like a ranch that has more like pepper,
01:11possibly peppercorn in it, which I really like.
01:14I think it's a good sauce.
01:15I don't know what the blackened part is, though.
01:17Let's go with the dip.
01:20That is good, because Popeyes already is a more flavorful brand
01:24of fried chicken.
01:25This sauce pairs with it very well.
01:27Now, the ingredients list wasn't on the website,
01:30but, of course, it is right here on the package.
01:33Who can read text this small?
01:36I certainly can't, but I got this guy.
01:39Okay, so there you go.
01:40So for those of you magnifying glass fans out there,
01:43you can find out what it is.
01:44One ingredient on here that people are probably familiar with
01:47is monosodium glutamate, also known as MSG.
01:52It's a flavor enhancer that gives food that umami taste.
01:56UK Popeyes offers eight dips.
01:58The US has buttermilk ranch as well as blackened ranch,
02:00but ours is just standard.
02:02Try the ranch.
02:03You do have actual herbs in there, which is nice.
02:05It does go well with chicken, especially with the Popeyes chicken,
02:07which does have a heat to the breading.
02:09The ranch ingredients aren't listed online,
02:10but they are listed on the packet.
02:12Gotta say, looking through here,
02:13there is nothing that jumps out at me as scary or weird.
02:16It's all pretty natural ingredients, to be honest.
02:18So compared to the US Popeyes,
02:19we are getting more sauce in our packets.
02:21The caveat to that is that we are paying much more per gram
02:23if you order more sauce.
02:25Viscosity is very important when it comes to a sauce.
02:27I think this is like the viscosity thing I'm looking for
02:30for a dipping sauce.
02:31It's not going to be too drippy,
02:32but you don't want it too thick
02:34because then it's not going to stick to it
02:36whenever you dip it in there, right?
02:37I'd say that's on the runnier side for a fast food sauce.
02:40I do like the packaging of this one.
02:41It's nice and wide,
02:42so you have quite a good area of attack for your dips.
02:45I think realistically,
02:46two of these would be plenty for a meal as well.
02:47These are fairly generous sizes.
02:49Joe is actually kind enough to ship me
02:51some blackened ranch from a US Popeyes.
02:52I want to see what the difference is.
02:54Immediately noticing,
02:55this is a much thicker sauce than our ranch.
02:57The buttermilk gives it a real kind of tang,
02:58that almost like sourness that you get
03:00from that buttermilk yogurty flavor.
03:02It's very different to the kind of tang
03:04that's imparted by the acid, which is in our one.
03:06One wonders, what would this ranch taste like
03:09on a slice of Pizza Hut pizza?
03:12That's right, we're mixing it up, folks.
03:13I've personally never tried this before,
03:15but I'll give it a go with the UK Popeyes ranch.
03:19I think while on the surface,
03:20it seems an odd combination.
03:21It really isn't that far from just putting
03:23like a Domino's garlic and herb on the pizza.
03:25So I don't think Americans are insane for trying it.
03:27It tastes like any other dipping sauce
03:28you get with a cheese pizza.
03:29It's like, you know.
03:31Now, you know, not worth doing the double dash
03:34for Popeyes and Pizza Hut
03:35if you were thinking to combine the pizza and the sauce.
03:37And now let's look at the sweet heat.
03:41That's really good.
03:42Let's see how it pairs with the chicken.
03:44Look at that.
03:45It is sweet and it has a little heat.
03:47Okay, look at the ingredients.
03:49It's mostly sugar and water.
03:50It's likely to be stickier than the blackened ranch,
03:53but just holding it in here,
03:55this is way more liquidier,
03:57which I've just heard from the good people at dictionary.com.
04:00It's totally a word.
04:02I also wanted to talk about the mango habanero sauce.
04:04I've got to say visually, I like the look of this one.
04:06It kind of reminds me of like a mango chutney.
04:08I'll try this one with a spicy chicken sandwich.
04:10Spice on spice.
04:13I like the way the sweetness kind of contrasts.
04:15This is definitely a combination where, again,
04:17if you just want spice, then maybe try this one out.
04:19We have another spicy sauce option from UK Popeyes,
04:21which is Louisiana Hot.
04:22I wanted to compare the spice level here
04:24with the mango habanero.
04:25The main difference between these two
04:26is that the Louisiana Hot contains Tabasco.
04:28It's definitely got heat to it.
04:29I don't know if it's necessarily got more heat
04:31than the mango habanero,
04:32but it doesn't have that sweetness
04:34to kind of balance it out.
04:35You do get quite a lot of the vinegar.
04:36I'm not like a huge hot sauce guy,
04:38but I think if you are someone who would typically put
04:40maybe Sriracha or Frank's on your food,
04:43then this is a good option.
04:44Next up, KFC.
04:45They have 12 sauces available.
04:48This KFC sauce was launched in October of 2020.
04:51Yeah, that's half full.
04:52Half?
04:53Half?
04:53Oh, my God.
04:54You must...
04:55To quote my British colleagues,
04:58I get joking.
05:01This sauce is holding it down at KFC.
05:04It's great on its own with the chicken,
05:06which I already love,
05:07together flavor multiplier.
05:10I'm not seeing anything as a cause for concern.
05:12Then again, I am the host of Food Wars,
05:15so we probably have different ideas of what concern would be,
05:18but I think it looks pretty standard.
05:20Funnily enough,
05:21we actually don't have just KFC sauce here in the UK,
05:23but we do have our six dip options.
05:25Technically in the UK,
05:26gravy counts as a side dish rather than a sauce.
05:28For the purposes of this video,
05:29because you're dipping your food in it,
05:31I think we count it as a sauce.
05:32Let's take a look at the supercharger dip.
05:34KFC describes this as their infamously spicy mayo.
05:36As for the taste, it's a really good sauce.
05:39It's probably my go-to sauce at KFC in the UK,
05:41other than maybe gravy.
05:42It is very thick,
05:43which I think makes it very good for dipping.
05:45The ingredients for this can be found on the packaging.
05:47The only ones to watch out for there might be potassium sorbet.
05:50There's also yeast extract in here,
05:52which is pretty much just what Marmite is.
05:54Popeye's sandwich, KFC sauce.
05:58I think that really works.
05:59In terms of like spicy mayos,
06:00I could say on the cooler side,
06:02which when you already have like a spicy chicken sandwich,
06:04is kind of what you want.
06:05Here's the comeback sauce.
06:06First, we taste the sauce.
06:10All right, Kaniacs,
06:11get ready to lose your mind in the comments.
06:14Not that close.
06:15Add the taste with the chicken.
06:17Do I like this better than the KFC sauce?
06:20Hard to say.
06:21Both are really good.
06:23I think this sauce is by its own merit
06:26as good as the KFC sauce.
06:28I would be happy to have my KFC with either one of these sauces.
06:31The comeback sauce is closer to like a peppery ranch.
06:35It's more savory.
06:37This one is a sweeter, not like barbecue,
06:42but it has a sweetness to it.
06:44Is that moving at all?
06:46One thing you can say about the comeback sauce at KFC,
06:48it is down with the thickness.
06:50I would say my personal preference,
06:52do not want to go thicker than this.
06:54I want to see the Cane's chicken
06:58with the KFC sauce.
07:00And that's perfectly fine.
07:02The KFC and Popeyes,
07:04I feel both their chicken could exist on their own
07:06with no dipping sauce.
07:07Cane's without sauce is like,
07:09I don't know, something.
07:12Next, Wingstop baby.
07:14They have, I don't know, a million sauces.
07:17We're focusing on the most popular dipping sauce, Ranch.
07:23We also do have Wingstop Ranch here in the UK.
07:25Before we continue,
07:26I'm going to state for the record,
07:27and I've said this a thousand times,
07:29Ranch is perfectly fine,
07:30and all Ranch tastes the same.
07:33All right, let's taste this Ranch.
07:34Everyone says it's so great.
07:36I think rich is the word that comes to mind.
07:38You get that buttermilk flavor,
07:40that kind of like yogurt-y tang almost.
07:42This tastes like all the other Ranch's.
07:44Wingstop seems to be a bit pricier
07:46when it comes to the sauces.
07:47Obviously, visually, you can see why.
07:50I think this cup right here was $1.99,
07:52and the large, $5.99.
07:55Now let's try it with a wing.
07:57I'll do a hot one.
07:58This is privileged eating right here.
08:00Packaging's pretty good.
08:01Again, like, relatively wide, I would say, at the top,
08:03so it is easy to dunk.
08:04This is much more like a classic American Ranch.
08:07To me, the best thing about the Wingstop Ranch
08:09is the containers in which they provide for you.
08:11Look at that.
08:12I mean, the smallest one is still way bigger than your regular.
08:15Here's the KFC one.
08:16On delivery apps, this was the only size option they had.
08:18I'm not sure about in-store.
08:19I don't dislike it.
08:20It's just it tastes like Ranch.
08:21To prove a point, look what I got.
08:23Got the Hidden Valley Ranch, right?
08:25Little thicker than the Wingstop Ranch.
08:28The difference is noticeable.
08:30I think for the Wingstop one,
08:32it's definitely creamier
08:33and doesn't have as strong as a Ranch flavor
08:35as Hidden Valley Ranch.
08:36To be eating chicken, wings, tenders, whatever,
08:40and run out of sauce or you run out of chicken.
08:42Ah, it's the worst feeling in the world.
08:44So this makes perfect sense to me.
08:46I think it's worth a few extra dollars, personally.
08:48Enjoy the decadence of dunking your wings
08:50at as much Ranch as you want.
08:52If you want to know all my thoughts
08:53on Wingstop and their sauces,
08:54go ahead and check out our Tier List episode
08:56directly after this.
08:58Pizza Hut Pizza.
08:59Here we go.
09:00Dip in the Ranch.
09:02It's fine.
09:03I think putting Ranch on pizza is madness anyway.
09:08I mean, what about Chick-fil-A little nuggies, huh?
09:12That's actually really good.
09:13The Chick-fil-A nuggets are a bit denser,
09:15so with the lightness of the Ranch,
09:17those two actually work well together.
09:18We also wanted to talk about some sauces
09:20exclusive to each country.
09:21Here we have a couple of sauces from Nando's,
09:22a very popular peri-peri chicken chain here in the UK.
09:25The US does have a few locations.
09:27We made a video on that,
09:28but they're very few compared to the UK
09:29and not as big a menu.
09:31Firstly, you have standard Nando's peri-peri sauce.
09:33This comes in a range of flavor options.
09:35As you can see, the peri-peri sauce is pretty runny.
09:38This one is the medium.
09:39For me, that is like probably borderline enough spice already.
09:42I think I will often order my chicken hot,
09:45but then have like a slightly cooler sauce on the side.
09:47One fantastic Nando's invention is their peri-nays.
09:50This is a peri-peri flavored mayo.
09:52That one you actually have to pay for an individual portion,
09:54but the portions that you get, from my knowledge,
09:56are pretty good.
09:57Less runny.
09:58I love Nando's peri-nays.
10:00That is the mild one,
10:01so there's almost no heat to it.
10:02Kind of like almost smoky chili flavor.
10:05I'll just try another like forbidden food combo.
10:07Here I have a chicken McNugget with Nando's sauce.
10:10We are blurring the chicken lines today, lads.
10:13McNuggets on the blander side as far as nuggets go.
10:17So the addition of a little spice, that kind of helps out.
10:20Harry, Nando's is a throwback.
10:23That's like three years ago we did that.
10:25I got those sauces.
10:26I got bottles of those sauces.
10:28Love all their sauces.
10:29Delicious stuff.
10:30We're doing Chick-fil-A.
10:32It has shown up sometimes in Food Wars,
10:36although there's not a dedicated one in the UK, I don't believe.
10:39So that's why we've never done a Chick-fil-A Food Wars.
10:41People love their sauces.
10:43I don't get it.
10:44People are into it.
10:45I am not.
10:46Here's a list of all the Chick-fil-A sauces you can get.
10:48And of course, add the Chick-fil-A sauce,
10:51which is the one we're focusing on.
10:52I mean, it's a nice sauce.
10:56There's definitely a mustard base to it.
10:58Really close to like a Carolina Gold barbecue sauce,
11:00but thicker.
11:01I do like that.
11:02Nuggets.
11:03Yeah, those work really well together.
11:05I see why the sauce is so hyped,
11:07although I would say, without the sauce,
11:09chicken, a little bland.
11:11Some have said to me that the Chick-fil-A sauce tastes
11:14just like the KFC sauce, tasting them back-to-back.
11:17Color's similar.
11:18Yeah, pretty close.
11:19I would say that the KFC sauce, again, is sweeter.
11:21And that is mustardy.
11:23Yeah, close enough.
11:24Add some McNugs.
11:28Yeah.
11:29That might be the best one of the day so far.
11:31Chick-fil-A isn't a chicken sandwich restaurant.
11:35It's a sauce restaurant.
11:36And they just happen to have chicken.
11:38Morley's is a popular chicken chain based here in London.
11:40Morley's offers a range of what I would kind of call
11:42standard kebab shop sauces here in the UK.
11:44Morley's also got so popular that they were able to collaborate
11:47with Heinz to produce their very own fried chicken sauce.
11:50What they will often do is just leave big bottles of sauce out
11:52so you can help yourself.
11:53If you get them to take away like we did,
11:54they will also have these little tubs of sauce.
11:56Give the burger sauce a quick try.
11:58Burger sauce is just such a classic UK condiment.
12:00Broadly a thousand island dressing kind of vibe.
12:03The fried chicken sauce is really good.
12:04It's broadly kind of like a burger sauce,
12:06but just with everything dialed up
12:07and some heat thrown in there.
12:08KFC chicken, Morley's sauce.
12:11What are you going to do about it, Colonel Sanders?
12:13And Kentucky meets London in the best of ways.
12:16Raising Cane's!
12:19All the Caniacs, this is what you've been waiting for.
12:22Raising Cane's has skyrocketed in popularity
12:25and so has their Cane's sauce.
12:28The sauce recipe has been top secret since they first opened.
12:31It is so secret, only the general managers are allowed to know the recipe
12:34and the only ones responsible for making the sauce every day.
12:38I think that's hilarious that the sauce is like top secret.
12:40Who cares at this point?
12:42Because everyone's made their knockoff sauce for it.
12:44It's like, whatever.
12:45Yo, they got a huge thing in front.
12:47I asked for 32 ounces, and I got it.
12:51Look at this.
12:52And when I asked the guy, the guy wasn't like, huh?
12:54He was like, yeah, coming right up.
12:55Like, they do this all the time.
12:57This is so funny.
12:58This is definitely enough sauce.
13:00Get a baseline read here.
13:02Here's what I'm tasting.
13:03Definitely ketchup.
13:04Definitely mayo to make it creamier.
13:05Definitely Worcestershire sauce.
13:07It has a hot sauce sting to it and, like, the garlicky celery salt.
13:13I think the Worcestershire sauce is the key ingredient there.
13:16Boom.
13:17A whole thing, right?
13:19Okay, we've reached too much sauce.
13:22Okay, it's not like Chick-fil-A, but it's the same as Chick-fil-A.
13:24It's the sauce.
13:25This is a sauce company.
13:26This chicken has no flavor.
13:28Cane's.
13:29Chick-fil-A.
13:30Chick-fil-A chicken.
13:32Cane sauce.
13:34I can't decide.
13:36They're not similar, but they're both, like, have their own unique flavor that I like.
13:41What else does it try?
13:42The cane sauce with KFC chicken.
13:45Before walking away from this, I'm going to say, KFC tenders with either Chick-fil-A sauce
13:51or cane sauce is the best combo of all this.
13:53And this is my favorite.
13:54Now, how can Raising Cane's and other companies get away with not disclosing the ingredients
13:59of their secret sauces?
14:00They're actually protected by something called trade secret law, which protects classified
14:05information in the food industry.
14:07That means everything from recipes to formulas, even manufacturing processes can be a secret.
14:12The same pretty much goes for the UK.
14:14It can be extremely difficult to patent a recipe, so it's more common to patent a food item
14:18or a food production system.
14:19I wouldn't say I've had too many surprises.
14:21From the chicken chains, I would say that my favorite so far would probably be the Morley's
14:25fried chicken sauce.
14:26That was really good.
14:27The Wingstop Ranch was also really good.
14:29And maybe the supercharger mayo.
14:31Overall, I would say that if you like Cane's or Chick-fil-A, I would say you might want to try
14:38their sauces with KFC if you're a fan of fried chicken and dipping sauces.
14:44I would say make two stops.
14:45It's worth it.
14:46Our next sauce category is going to be signature burger sauces.
14:50These sauces are fairly consistent across all chains.
14:53Some of the McDonald's, they have nine sauces on the menu, not including Big Mac sauce.
14:57We also have nine sauces at our McDonald's.
14:59Big Mac sauce has been taken off of the regular menu, so we had to ask for ours on the side.
15:05The Big Mac sauce was created in 1968 to go along with the Big Mac.
15:09You might be wondering, Harry, why do you have a cup of coffee on the table right now?
15:12What if I told you that was a Big Mac?
15:14Currently, Big Mac sauce on its own is not available on the McDonald's menu, unless you get creative.
15:19By ordering a Big Mac, adding extra sauce, and removing every other possible ingredient,
15:25all you were left with is sauce.
15:27It caused a little confusion and I did briefly have to explain myself to the staff,
15:30but they were very accommodating and eventually just provided me with a cup of Big Mac sauce.
15:35I wouldn't recommend doing this exactly unless you were maybe just a huge Big Mac sauce fan.
15:39Give it a try.
15:40It's hard to rival the kind of like tanginess of this.
15:45It's one of the world's most famous sauces for a reason.
15:47It's the classic American fast food sandwich.
15:50Boy, I love a Big Mac.
15:52They struck gold with that sandwich.
15:54That's the sandwich.
15:55I did want to try something that I think is deeply forbidden and wrong.
15:58Here I have a Whopper from Burger King.
16:00I think you know what this is going on.
16:02I feel like this is going to upset fans of Burger King and fans of McDonald's.
16:06There's a lot going on, but here we have the forbidden love child of Ronald McDonald and the Burger King himself.
16:12We'll call this a McWhopper.
16:15I tell you what, we might be onto something there.
16:17With the mayo on a Whopper, it just doesn't really do anything.
16:20Whereas this one, providing that same kind of like creamy, velvety texture, but with some actual flavor.
16:26I'm going to taste like, put this on some KFC.
16:31I'm a madman for this one.
16:33No.
16:34Well, that surprisingly really clashes with chicken.
16:36I think the Big Mac sauce is for burgers only.
16:39Now, by looking at these ingredients, it sounds like the Big Mac sauce is mayo relish.
16:43Ours lists caramel color and the UK does not.
16:46UK, how does ours look compared to yours?
16:49Does it have a caramel color to it?
16:51I'd say vaguely.
16:52It's got that kind of like orangey golden tinge that you expect from a Big Mac sauce.
16:56You'll notice that our ingredients list for Big Mac sauce is shorter than America's.
16:59The UK does have different food standards than here in the US, which is why they don't include caramel color.
17:05Moving on to Burger King, we decided to try its zesty sauce and see how it matches up.
17:10Now, I can't find a ton of information on the zesty sauce, but I know it was introduced in 2001 to accompany their onion rings.
17:17What the hell?
17:18Well, according to Yuli, I was unimpressed when we tried the zesty sauce many Burger King episodes ago.
17:25And I'll tell you what, still unimpressed.
17:27All right, this is the worst sauce I've had tonight.
17:29Let's try dipping it with some chicken, some nugs.
17:32I possess the ability to enjoy horseradish.
17:35This sauce I do not like.
17:36That tastes better on the sandwich than the nuggets.
17:38We don't have Burger King zesty sauce here in the UK, but Joe did send me some.
17:41It took me a second to place the flavors there, but I think what I'm getting is dill and also the horseradish that's coming through.
17:46I think this probably would work in the UK.
17:48We love our horseradish, especially with our beef.
17:50Beef and horseradish sauce is like a classic thing for roast dinners in the UK.
17:53Try it on a business.
17:55You know, you people see at home what I'm forced to do.
17:58Not my idea.
18:02Does not work.
18:03Zesty sauce.
18:04Bottom of the list.
18:05Burger King in the UK offers five dips.
18:07Seeing as they lack a proper signature sauce and they seem to love their mayo, I guess we'll test the mayos out.
18:11The spicy mayo is pretty good.
18:12It does have a kick.
18:13It took a second, but then you kind of get it in the back of the throat a bit.
18:16Those bird's eye chilies.
18:17Similar chilies that they use in the peri-peri sauce from Nando's.
18:20Fun fact.
18:21I think there's little bits of onion diced up in there.
18:23Seeing as I desecrated a Whopper with Big Mac sauce, I feel like it's only fair that I now do the reverse.
18:27I'm going to put spicy mayo on a Big Mac, breaking so many food rules today.
18:30I think on its own, when you taste the spicy mayo from Burger King, the heat comes through a lot more.
18:35I think when you have it kind of blending in to a burger, there's a bit more to balance out the spice.
18:40So it's just like a little bit of a nice texture.
18:42Very gentle heat.
18:43Not too bad.
18:44I think maybe the Big Mac sauce helped the Whopper more than the spicy mayo helped the Big Mac.
18:48I did want to mention the U.S. only chain In-N-Out.
18:51In-N-Out is a California staple and it has a very famous sauce.
18:56Or spread, as they like to call it.
18:58The spread you'll find on the burgers or the animal-style fries.
19:02We can't say for sure what's in it, but I definitely taste mayo, ketchup, and some sort of relish.
19:07It looks like a classic burger sauce.
19:09This is a pretty generous amount of sauce, definitely for a burger and for the fries.
19:12That's it, it's pretty close to a Big Mac sauce.
19:14It definitely has that relish, mayo, ketchup flavor to it.
19:17There's something distinct in that.
19:18I'm going to place my finger on it.
19:19I'm going to do the animal-style fries.
19:21What's it like on the regular fries?
19:23For animal-style specifically, I can pull the flavor of the spread out of the animal-style.
19:29And with the onions and the cheese, all of it together, I'm probably the last person on earth to say this out loud, but the animal-style is very good.
19:35Try it on a burger, yeah?
19:36Put it in there.
19:40It is a distinct flavor of the In-N-Out burger.
19:43It definitely makes the burger, the fries, sing with its flavor.
19:47So for sauce, yeah, it does a really good job of that.
19:50The Big Mac sauce definitely has more of that pronounced relish flavor to it.
19:54But if you like a creamier, smoother sauce, then I think the In-N-Out spread is probably going to be more of your jam.
19:59I guess I'm curious what the In-N-Out burger tastes like with the Big Mac sauce, right?
20:08Those two work really well together.
20:09I feel like because this is already so raw onion-heavy that that really clashes with already that vinegary, relish flavor to it.
20:17Try the In-N-Out spread on a Big Mac.
20:22I'm going to do something real forbidden with these combos.
20:25Big Mac number two, animal-style Big Mac.
20:28Yeah, that's really good.
20:30Animal-style Big Mac.
20:32I think this is the winner of the video.
20:33If you can get these two things together quicker so it doesn't coagulate,
20:37just slide the cheese, onions, and animal-style sauce onto a Big Mac, this works incredibly well.
20:42I think that the In-N-Out spread works on the Big Mac better than the Big Mac.
20:46I said it.
20:47Out of everything I've tested so far, I think my favorite forbidden combo mix has been the animal-style Big Mac.
20:54I think I've invented something that's going to go crazy for it.
20:57Make this happen. It's fantastic.
20:59And my favorite sauce in the burger category.
21:01Jeez, it's up in the air.
21:03I think I'm leaning more towards the In-N-Out spread.
21:05Honestly, I think from these two chains, my favorite might be the sweet curry from McDonald's.
21:09I think that with the chicken nuggets is phenomenal.
21:12I do love the Big Mac sauce.
21:13I just wish there were a slightly easier way to order it than having to pay for an entire Big Mac and then getting it served to you in a cup.
21:18And finally, pizza dipping sauce.
21:21Of course, we included ranch.
21:22Starting off with Domino's over here.
21:24They have a bunch of sauces and dips.
21:27I think you get one cup per pizza order, and then each one after that is 99 cents.
21:32I don't know what they—why are you putting your pizza in ranch?
21:36Because what happens is you take something that's awesome, pizza, and you cover it with this stuff, and now your pizza tastes like ranch. Why?
21:45Since we don't have Domino's ranch in the UK, I got some American ranch to try.
21:49I will say with this one, it tastes very sour.
21:51It's got that kind of like buttermilk soundness to it, although it tastes so sour that I'm not sure if it's how it's supposed to taste,
21:56or if this just kind of like went off a bit in transit to the UK.
22:00I feel very strongly against dipping pizza in anything.
22:04I don't like it.
22:05Harry, are you a pizza dipper?
22:07Broadly speaking, I don't mind the whole pizza ranch thing.
22:10I maybe have issue with people who like pour ranch just all over the entire pizza,
22:14but I think there's like a crust dip. I have no issues with that whatsoever.
22:17Domino's in the UK carries quite a few sauces.
22:19The most popular sauce, and the one that comes with pizzas by default in the UK, is the garlic and herb.
22:23I do love it, like it's by far my favorite sauce at Domino's.
22:26My one complaint is that it is quite a rich sauce, and Domino's is already a very rich and salty food.
22:31I feel like maybe having a slightly lighter sauce might complement it a little bit better.
22:36This past September, Domino's actually did get into a bit of hot water with Brits about their sauce.
22:40They had to temporarily withdraw their sauce due to allergy concerns
22:43when traces of peanuts were found in it.
22:44It might not seem like a huge deal, but the public was not pleased.
22:47We really love this stuff.
22:48A 2023 survey from Domino's found that just in that year alone,
22:51Brits consumed enough garlic and herb sauce to fill 17 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
22:55Moving on, garlic flavoring.
22:58Oh man, this looks like trouble.
23:00I'm seeing the ingredients.
23:01It says that there's no garlic listed on here.
23:04It's garlic flavored.
23:05Is that right?
23:06That's a bit concerning.
23:07Why does it taste like garlic?
23:09I hate it.
23:10I hate what they've done to pizza.
23:11You know, because if you put garlic and butter on anything, it's going to taste good.
23:16Yeah.
23:17There's butter and garlic.
23:19Of course, it's like the best tasting things in the world.
23:22I mean, it's easier to dip, and it's specifically for pizza.
23:25So yes, just, I'm against pizza dipping.
23:28I don't like it.
23:29Let's get pizza that tastes good.
23:31I mean, it looks like melted butter, right?
23:33This one's going to go fast.
23:34This is kind of giving me a headache, to be honest.
23:36Let's move on to Pizza Hut.
23:38They offer so many sauces.
23:40So we're going to start with The Ranch.
23:41Pizza just dropped its Pizza Trends Report of 2025,
23:45and Ranch is still the most popular dipping sauce.
23:48Yeah, no kidding.
23:49All tastes the same.
23:52Let's dip it in this pizza.
23:54More amount than what Domino's is hooking up with.
23:56So Pizza Hut at least has got you the hookup for the sauce that we're going to do.
24:00I know we're doing forbidden combos, but I've destroyed just about all the food we've gotten.
24:03And it's Ranch.
24:04There's nothing forbidden about putting Ranch on something, right?
24:07We may not have Ranch over here, but once again, we do have a garlic and herb sauce.
24:10For me, the Pizza Hut sauce is just lacking a little something, especially compared to the Domino's one.
24:15Something in there is giving it an almost like acrid taste, which I really don't appreciate.
24:19Continuing the trend of kind of forbidden food combinations, we're going for what I actually think may be the best outcome here.
24:24We're getting some Pizza Hut pizza with some Domino's garlic and herb dipping sauce.
24:30I do like Pizza Hut's pizza.
24:32I just wish their sauce was this, basically.
24:34That, for me, a pretty ideal marriage.
24:36One more forbidden combo to try.
24:37Sweet icing dip, Domino's pizza.
24:39You know what?
24:42I actually don't hate that.
24:44Sue me.
24:45Pizza Hut garlic sauce, also a dollar.
24:47Pizza Hut used to have this in disposable dipping cups, and then they eventually switched it to these prepackaged sauce cups.
24:53Pizza fans go back and forth on this.
24:55Some say it depends on the location, but what seems to be the consensus is this sauce tastes worse in these prepackaged cups.
25:02That's funny.
25:03Actually, I wouldn't be surprised.
25:04I mean, it's made of some factory stuck in this plastic container.
25:07It probably affects the taste, yeah.
25:08There's just something that really annoys me about this pizza dipping sauces.
25:13As much as I don't like it, I have to taste it again, because I'm not kidding.
25:16It's going to sound crazy.
25:17It tastes a little bit like burnt plastic.
25:19Like, it tastes like the container it comes in.
25:21All right, let's dip a perfectly fine pizza into a buttery, garlicky sauce for no reason.
25:26And Pizza Hut, your garlic sauce sucks.
25:30Oh, my God.
25:31It tastes like the container it came in.
25:33Here's a forbidden combo.
25:35This sauce and that garbage can.
25:37That's the worst—what would I say was the worst sauce before a zesty sauce?
25:40No, that's the new worst one.
25:42Bad.
25:43I think it's an obvious answer, but for me, the best pizza sauce in these categories is the Domino's garlic and herb dip.
25:48I don't think we should be dipping our pizza in any sauces regardless.
25:51And I'm asking you, America, and to some extent the UK, stop dipping your pizza in sauces, please.
26:00Although we can't give an exact figure as to how many fast food sauces are consumed every year, we can assume it's a lot.
26:05The global sauces and condiments market is expected to earn a revenue of over $280 billion in 2025.
26:11It's also got a projected annual growth rate of 6.14% from 2025 to 2030.
26:16So it's safe to say the world is pretty obsessed with sauce.
26:19In some cases, maybe too sauce obsessed?
26:22This sauce obsession has created a thriving resale market, with rare packets and bottles selling for hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
26:30The show Rick and Morty revitalized the craze for McDonald's Szechuan sauce.
26:34It was available for a limited time in 1998 as part of a promotional campaign for Disney's Mulan.
26:39McDonald's announced that the sauce would be made available for one day only, but they severely underestimated how sought after the sauce would be.
26:47After being met with long lines and sauce shortages, fans were outraged and even called for McDonald's boycott.
26:54On eBay, the sauce was reportedly being resold for upwards of $250 per packet, a three-pack sold for $848.
27:03The McJordan barbecue sauce was originally released in 1992 along with the McJordan sandwich.
27:09This was actually the first sandwich in McDonald's history to be named after a person.
27:13In 2012, an unopened expired gallon jug of McJordan barbecue sauce sold for almost $10k to an anonymous bidder in Chicago.
27:24Chip shops are beloved across the UK and Ireland.
27:26A man from Cork once paid €51 for a tub of curry sauce.
27:30He did that after finding out that his favorite local fish and chip shop, Jackie Lennox, was closing its doors after 73 years in business.
27:36It's a pretty modest price compared to some of the other resold sauces that we've just seen, but considering the original price was around €2, it's a pretty big markup.
27:43Then there's the McDonald's BTS collab, which included two limited-edition Korean-inspired sauces, Sweet Chili and Cajun.
27:50BTS is one of the most popular music acts in the entire world, so, of course, people went nuts for the collab.
27:56Even paying hundreds of dollars buying the sauce on the resale market.
28:00You can own these sauce packets, too, for the low, low price of $631.
28:06I also can't forget KFC's Finger Lickin' Sauce.
28:09This sauce was released sometimes in 2015, but was pulled in 2020.
28:12COVID forced KFC to drop the Finger Lickin' Good slogan,
28:16and the sauce was discontinued and replaced by the KFC sauce.
28:20RIP Finger Lickin' Sauce.
28:23I did find an eBay listing of this sauce, and someone's actually selling an empty KFC Finger Lickin' Sauce for $2,270.34.
28:33Madness. Absolute madness.
28:35Of the sauces we've covered today, I think if I were to narrow it down to my favorites,
28:38these are the ones that would come out on top.
28:40My favorite chicken sauce, surprise, surprise, was Chick-fil-A with canes breathing down its neck.
28:45In the chicken sauce category, I really do like the spicy supercharger mayo from KFC.
28:49I will say, in terms of the spicy aspects, they could probably stand to amp that up a little bit.
28:53It's much more of just like a cool mayo vibe with a little twist.
28:56Hey, I've been to the UK and had their fast food several times, and I do like the KFC supercharged sauce.
29:01So I would love it. That made its way over here.
29:03And for the best burger sauce, to my surprise, is actually In-N-Out sauce.
29:07I thought In-N-Out compared to the Big Mac sauce, actually In-N-Out won me over.
29:13I'm not the biggest In-N-Out fan, but this sauce is actually very good.
29:15For the burgers, I do have to shout out Big Mac sauce.
29:17Obviously a little bit of a hassle to get hold of, but it is just so delicious.
29:21And for best pizza sauce, nothing.
29:24I didn't like any of them.
29:25I don't think you should be dipping your pizza in sauces anyway.
29:28All the rancers were boring.
29:30For pizzas, as I said, kind of hard to look past the Domino's garlic and herb.
29:33As far as pizza sauces go, for me, this is the king.
29:35All in all, I actually think that the Morley's fried chicken sauce is the best on the side today.
29:39I don't know how long this is going to be in shops for, but I recommend that you go out and grab some,
29:42because for me, this kind of just checked all the boxes that I wanted a really good sauce to check.
29:46Wow, Harry, I'm surprised you picked that one.
29:49My favorite, I'm surprised that these are the two top ones, because they also really like canes as well.
29:53I think I'm going to go with the In-N-Out spread.
29:55Yeah, no one is more shocked than I am, but this sauce alone, very good.
30:00I liked it a lot.
30:01So I think it had the right viscosity, had the right flavor.
30:05Everything I added it to tasted really good.
30:08It actually tasted better on a Big Mac than the Big Mac sauce, so yeah.
30:11I think the best-forbidding combo for me was actually probably putting the Big Mac sauce on a Whopper.
30:15I think that combination of the flavor that the Big Mac sauce gives with the kind of flame-grilled meat flavor of the Whopper created a burger experience from a fast food chain that I haven't really had before.
30:24Right off the bat, I did like the McNuggets and the cane sauce.
30:27I've got to say, that's good.
30:28For these sauces, though, for the chicken sauces, I'm telling you, pick up KFC and then get either Chick-fil-A sauce or cane sauce.
30:36You'll see what I mean.
30:37The reason that I'm not that into Chick-fil-A or Raising Cane is that the chicken's just not very flavorful.
