00:00Some Congress leaders who have had important positions in the past, senior leaders have expressed some views.
00:08The Congress Party has nothing to do with these views. We dissociate ourselves from these views.
00:13These are personal views. We must stand united. We must be one.
00:18The Congress Party is very clear. We will fight the forces that are trying to divide our society.
00:25The statements are coming in from the Pahlgaam attack, terror attack, after the response of the government, after the all-party meeting, CWC.
00:35Now the leaders like Vijay Vidar Triwad, Dr. Tharoor, your sitting MP from Kerala, he is saying that it can't be said that it can happen, 100% safety cannot be there.
00:51And at the same time, the former union minister is saying, what is the opinion?
00:56No, no, see, there was a horrific terrorist attack in Pahlgaam on the 22nd.
01:02On the 22nd itself, the Congress Party expressed its deep shock, condemned the terrorist killing that was masterminded by Pakistan,
01:13called for an all-party meeting to be chaired by the Prime Minister.
01:16On the 24th morning, the Congress Working Committee passed a detailed resolution.
01:23Then in the evening of the 24th, there was an all-party meeting, which the Prime Minister, unfortunately, didn't chair.
01:30But Congress President Malik Arjun Khargayaji, leader of the opposition Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhiji, attended,
01:35put forward the Congress's concerns, questions, views,
01:39but most importantly, stressed the need for unity, solidarity and a collective will and a collective response,
01:48based on a consensus that has to be created by the government.
01:53Now, some Congress leaders who have had important positions in the past,
01:59senior leaders have expressed some views.
02:02The Congress Party has nothing to do with these views.
02:05We dissociate ourselves from these views.
02:07These are personal views.
02:09The views of the Congress are the views expressed in the resolution of the CWC on the 24th,
02:16the views expressed by Congress President and Sri Rahul Gandhiji in this all-party meeting,
02:21and as the situation evolves in this most sensitive of times,
02:26the Congress Working Committee, the Congress President,
02:28the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha,
02:30will be articulating, or authorized office bearers of the AICC,
02:34will be articulating the party's position.
02:37What individual Congress leaders are saying is their view.
02:42In this most sensitive of time,
02:45the organization, the Congress Party's view,
02:48is the view in the CWC resolution,
02:51the views expressed by Congress President and the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha,
02:56and the views that will be expressed by authorized office bearers,
03:00because the situation is evolving.
03:02But most importantly, what we have said,
03:06there have been security lapses,
03:08there have been intelligence failures.
03:10However, we need unity,
03:12we need solidarity,
03:14we need a collective will,
03:16we need a collective response,
03:17and we need constant communication
03:20between the government and the opposition.
03:22That's the essence of a democratic system that we are in.
03:27So, you know, we understand the gravity of the situation,
03:31and this is a tremendous shock.
03:33This terrorist attack has to be condemned.
03:36We continue to condemn it in the strongest possible terms.
03:40And we must stand united.
03:43We must be one.
03:44But how it happened,
03:47how the three-tiered security structure
03:49at Pehelgam got breached.
03:52These are questions that have to be analyzed.
03:55But at the moment,
03:57I don't think you should associate
03:59the views expressed by some Congress people,
04:03Congress leaders,
04:04as reflecting the views of the Congress Party.
04:07They don't.
04:07So the Congress Party don't think that
04:09the ruling party is politicizing the issue?
04:14The ruling party has completely politicized the issue.
04:17There is no question about it.
04:19The English Congress Working Committee resolution,
04:22we have said clearly, categorically,
04:25that this is a time for building a national consensus.
04:29This is a time for unity,
04:31for solidarity,
04:32for a collective response,
04:34for a collective resolve.
04:35But the BJP and its various elements
04:40have been busy polarizing,
04:42spreading hate,
04:43spreading discord,
04:44spreading mistrust.
04:45That's a political struggle.
04:47That's a political battle we'll fight.
04:49But we must stand united.
04:52The Congress Party is very clear.
04:54We will fight the forces
04:56that are trying to divide our society.
