There is nothing simple about the 2025 Indian Scout lineup except for the way Indian describes the bikes. They are cruisers. Classic, American-made V-twins that are just as much about heritage and body lines as they are cornering clearance and technology. You can have your performance (and the new bikes do), but Indian refuses to have that be the Scouts’ personality.

00:00Hey everyone, welcome to downtown San Francisco in what is essentially a new era for Indian
00:05Motorcycles Scout Middleweight Cruiser. Now this is an all-new lineup for 2025. It consists of five
00:11bikes. You've got the Scout Classic, the Scout Bobber, the Super Scout, the Sport Scout, and the
00:17101 Scout. That's going to be the cream of the crop. Got one right there, pretty cool looking.
00:21We'll cover that a lot in this video. Now Indian's got a really cool event planned for us over the
00:25next two days. We're going to do a coastal ride on the Bobber, the Super Scout, and the Scout Classic
00:31down to Santa Cruz. And then tomorrow we're going to jump on the Sport Scout and the 101 Scout and do a
00:37little bit higher pace, kind of mountainous ride. We're going to get into the canyons and see what
00:41the sporty side of this Scout lineup is all about. Now these bikes are heavily updated for this new
00:48model year. You've got an all-new Speed Plus 1250 engine which actually makes more torque, more power,
00:54and it's even 10 pounds lighter which is really cool. You've got a new chassis, a new electronics
00:59package, and some new stylings. Then going into all the different models, a really different look
01:03with bikes like the Super Scout right there behind me with its windscreen saddlebags and things like
01:08that. So it'll be a lot of fun to see how these bikes separate themselves from each other and kind of
01:12where it stands in this middleweight cruiser category. We're going to throw our helmet on in just
01:16a minute and go for a ride. Let's do this. And just like that we are on the streets of San Francisco.
01:22So we're starting off the ride with the Bobber which Indian actually says is their most successful
01:28Scout. So that is the bike that most people have been gravitating towards. It'll be interesting to
01:34see with all the changes to the lineup and the new models that have been introduced if that stays the
01:37same. But yeah, something about the kind of simple cut-off looks of the Bobber that people are
01:44drawn to. A lot of changes as a whole to the platform. So you've got an all-new engine,
01:49you've got the new 1250cc engine, you've got a new frame, and then you've got some new styling.
01:54And then of course you've all divided those between five models now and a little bit more
02:01expansive electronics package than you might have expected for a Scout. And those are actually
02:07almost optional in a way. You've got some packages that you can go towards. It's a little bit modular
02:13in a way you can add to them. What we are riding is a Bobber with the limited plus tech package
02:20which gives you ride modes, it gives you trash control, and it also gives you four inch round
02:26touchscreen display which is really nice as well as a push to start system here. So a little bit of
02:36tech, a little bit of style, and for sure should be a lot more performance with the new engine and the
02:41new chassis. Now on this Bobber specifically, obviously because it is a Bobber you've got some
02:47cut-off fenders, you've got the really short small solo seat on it, and the biggest difference here is
02:54going to be you've got two inches of suspension travel out back. So probably won't be the most comfortable
03:01bike for the long haul, but for stuff like this riding around town in the city, it does work. It
03:09gives you the look that you're going to want. And again, apparently it's kind of what people are okay
03:15making that sacrifice or have been in the past because most successful models. So far a couple of
03:22things that we're looking at just initially. I was a little bit worried. I'm six foot three,
03:28I was thinking the bike might be a little too small or uncomfortable for me. But right away,
03:34I'm surprised at how well the bike fits. It's a longer reach to the handlebar than I would have
03:38expected. And that's nice, so I don't feel super cramped. And yeah, nice long tank. This tank is
03:45actually new for 2025. It's a little bit bigger, but that's not really why that they've made the change.
03:54The change is actually because they've changed the airbox on this model. So you do get a little bit
03:59larger fuel capacity. It's very small amount. On the outside, they say it's actually maybe even a
04:06little bit smaller. But it is a new tank technically, gives you a little bit different look on this
04:12bike. And yeah, as a whole, it seems pretty comfortable so far. Getting right into the motorcycle
04:20and some things that we're noticing around town and just that are changes for the new year. Now,
04:26this bike does have a slip assist clutch. It's the first year with the slip assist clutch on a Scout.
04:33This is always interesting for me because the slip assist stuff, okay, for sure, it helps a lot with
04:38with lever pull. It makes a little bit lighter lever pull. It's interesting how now that more
04:43manufacturers are putting these on the on the production bikes, the direction they go,
04:47for me, one thing I've already noticed, there's not a ton of feel in this clutch. It's not the
04:52first time I've experienced that with some of the newer slip assist clutches. They're working so hard
04:56to make that a really light clutch pull. And yeah, for sure, it's sometimes it just gives you a little
05:01bit lack of feel. And I think especially for us, as we just kind of get comfortable with the bike,
05:06it's something that takes a little bit of time. I would expect someone who's been, you know, if this
05:14is a bike that you end up owning, you're going to get be a lot more comfortable with it. And it's
05:18something that you'll get used to. So, but one of the first things we noticed for sure, if I have
05:24to be honest, I did stall it the first, first time I tried to pull out of the parking lot. So,
05:29hey, there is that I can be honest with you guys. But yeah, overall, the Bobber was actually one of
05:36the bikes I was maybe even least excited to ride just again, because of that suspension travel,
05:41the shorter suspension travel and, you know, the more compact setup, especially with the handlebars,
05:47you don't have risers or anything like that. But actually, overall, it seems to be a pretty
05:52comfortable motorcycle, a nice, nice bike for cruising around town. And again, you have that
05:56little bit more muted, compact look. So, good introduction into this new lineup. And as we
06:05navigate all this chaos of San Francisco, yeah, it's a fun bike to do it on.
06:13All right, well, we got a little bit of an open stretch of our own first chance to really test the
06:18bobber suspension on some rough stuff and had a couple moments. So, yeah, the city stuff on the
06:26bobber is good. It's fun. I think that's where the bobber excels. It's where it fits in and it works
06:31the best what Indian designed it for. But man, I just need more suspension travel than two inches out
06:39back. It really does make a difference. It's some stuff here. Oh, you can hear my voice. It does hurt a
06:45little bit. It does hurt. And, uh, I look definitely at, uh, some of the other bikes in my rear view mirror
06:51and I am, I'm a little bit envious of, uh, of the guys with a little bit more suspension travel or,
06:57or even, or even with the, uh, with the windscreen and backs and stuff like that. So, bobber, great
07:04around town bike. Am I buying it if I primarily, uh, I'm doing highway stuff or things like that?
07:10Or if I live in an area where they don't do a good job of maintaining roads. No, it is, and it's not
07:16the bike I'm going for there. But, um, yeah, again, around town, nice and relaxed. Uh, ergos for me,
07:22I don't know. It's, it's, you're definitely a little bit stretched out with the lower. Oh, no.
07:28Oh, I'm doing this for you guys. I'm rolling over the big stuff to test it for you guys. But, um,
07:34no, that's, uh, that's not exactly comfortable. It really isn't. Um, yeah. But in terms of
07:40ergonomics and just rider positioning, I'm, uh, I'm a little bit more keen for something that's
07:45a little bit more upright this year. I'm almost hunched over in a way because reaching over,
07:51uh, like I said, it's a little bit of a longer reach to the handlebar than I would have expected.
07:54And then, uh, yeah, the lower handlebar. So, uh, great for around town just kind of gives you that
08:00it's almost aggressive, uh, stance in a way. Um, but I would go for something a little bit more
08:06upright. Personally, uh, as far as the forward controls, I actually like the positioning of them.
08:10I don't have an issue. I've got longer legs. And so, um, it's, uh, it's nice for me. Um,
08:17be curious to try the mid controls that, uh, that are available as an accessory, but forward controls,
08:22um, I'm not minding them. I think we got a little bit more highway riding on the bomber, which again,
08:27probably not, uh, not the best bike for it. Honestly, I really did enjoy the around town
08:32stuff. I will be excited to jump on something, uh, another bike, uh, just up the road here.
08:37I think in a little bit we'll swap over and see what, uh, see what that one's all about.
08:42All right. Well, here we are. Arguably, if you could see it back there,
08:45one of the most iconic locations in California and, uh, yeah, one of what, what Indian at least calls
08:51one of the most iconic American motorcycles. So a couple of first thoughts on our time with the
08:55bobber, uh, I was actually surprised by the ergonomics. It was one thing coming into this
08:59ride. I was like, I'm not sure how I'm going to fit on that thing, especially the bobber,
09:03uh, with the lower handlebar and things like that. Uh, the solo seat, obviously not the most
09:08accommodating. It's not the biggest seat ever. And the two inches of rear suspension travel is a
09:12little bit of a limitation. I did roll over some bumps on purpose to see what that was like. And,
09:17uh, yeah, I mean, it's, uh, it ain't plush. Let's say that, but, uh, the front, uh, front suspension
09:23actually works really well. It absorbs some of that initial hit and just kind of brace yourself
09:26a little bit as you roll over like potholes and things like that for the rear. Uh, it's,
09:31it's not super jarring, but for sure, I think I'm going to, uh, like a little bit more suspension
09:35travel when we move into the other models, but as a whole, yeah, I, I really enjoy the engine.
09:40It's great for around town, a little bit of a struggle with the clutch. I don't like the,
09:43the feel necessarily on the new slip assist clutch overall, really great first impressions of this
09:48motorcycle. Again, the biggest thing being that it's, it's a lot more comfortable for a taller
09:52rider than I, I would have expected and the bobber itself, uh, just a nice clean look and
09:57hey, it is their most popular model for a reason. Well, we've officially made it onto bike number two,
10:04that being the super scout. Uh, honestly, maybe my least favorite in terms of looks,
10:10but probably what will be the best option for a little bit of this coastal cruising. Uh,
10:16Indian calls it light touring. So you've got this, uh, windshield up front. It is quick release,
10:23well, interestingly, the one thing Indian says about that and the windshield as a whole, they
10:29say back to like rally bikes in the forties, fifties, uh, where guys were basically touring
10:35with them and they got to their location and then maybe strip them down and ride around. So that's
10:39kind of the vibe they're going for a really nice side bags on this. Now the super scout, the one thing
10:45about it is that it only comes in the limited plus tech package. So that's going to be again,
10:51all your electronics, uh, you know, ride, ride modes. And, and then you've also got obviously the
11:00four inch display, this touchscreen display that really liking, and then the, the push button start.
11:06So, uh, also moving up from the bobber, you now do have your three inches of suspension travel,
11:13which for me, I have learned pretty quickly is very important. Uh, so liking that already,
11:20already feel the, the rear end just up a little bit and, uh, the bike doesn't just feel as squatted.
11:27Uh, definitely you've got this, well, you've got this, uh, different handlebar setup, so I'm not
11:31reached out as far. It's a more neutral and natural, uh, riding position for me. Automatically,
11:37I feel a lot more comfortable having ridden the bobber for the amount, even relatively short amount
11:43of time that we did, uh, back was already starting to hurt a little bit. I just, I appreciate the more,
11:48I get the, what they're doing in terms of looks and the feel and the emotion that that gives you.
11:53But this more natural and upright will riding position, especially here on this bike with,
11:59uh, a little bit just more relaxed. I, I appreciate that. And how about that view?
12:05Sorry, folks. We got to take a second to enjoy that. There's nothing like the California coast.
12:13Okay. So yeah, on, on this bike here, yeah, the ergonomics are obviously
12:17a big difference. Uh, that is a big thing you notice right away. Uh, wind protection already
12:24feeling that that's nice. Uh, the temperature head drops and having a little bit of wind protection
12:29is, it's really nice to get out of that cold, cold breeze. You got a lot more chrome treatment
12:35on the bike here. So you'll notice that in the, uh, chrome handlebar, but also, um, I think on this
12:42bike, the valve covers are on the engine are actually chrome. And then you've got some chrome
12:46treatments on the exhaust, things like that. Interesting note on, on this bike or kind of
12:51the platform as a whole, you might've noticed that the old exhaust was a two into two.
12:58Now on this bike, it is a two into one exhaust. And while the exhaust as a whole was redesigned for
13:05current Euro five plus emission standards, the bigger reason for going into that to it, going to that two
13:11into one exhaust design is that that allowed them, uh, gave them more flexibility in terms of the
13:19saddlebag options. So, uh, specifically on, on this bike here for touring duty, light touring duty,
13:26you've got the bigger saddlebags, which are nice. Um, they are not lockable or waterproof. However,
13:33Indian says that they are water resistant. So something to keep in mind. Uh, one thing I have noticed,
13:40uh, at least getting off, uh, on, onto the bobber, uh, we were able to do some acceleration pulls and
13:46this engine is stout, man. It really does pull hard. Uh, I haven't ridden, uh, the previous
13:53generation scout in quite a while, so I'm not going to do any direct comparisons. Uh, what I will say
13:59here is that on this, in this engine with this 1250, man, that, that mid range is really strong.
14:06No, most notably from like, I was really seeing it from about 3,500 to 4,000 RPM. It's just,
14:13man, it's got a ton of grunt to it. And the nice thing actually is that it doesn't rev out too quick.
14:19So you've got a lot of RPM to play with. Uh, the nice thing there, I think we'll maybe notice it in
14:25other parts of our ride is that you're not going to be shifting as much. So when you've got such a wide
14:30power curve, it's just, uh, it gives you a little bit more flexibility. So that's a, that's a big
14:37thing. Another thing wrapping up with some of the engine stuff, one of the things that we, we noticed
14:42obviously is, is not really loving the clutch and it made kind of some of the stop and go stuff a
14:47little bit more complicated. Uh, what I, what I'm thinking too, is that might be made a little bit more
14:54difficult even by the, the lighter crank in this bike. Now that lighter crank is going to allow
14:59this thing to spin up quicker, but, uh, a lighter crank makes it a little bit harder to leave a stop.
15:06So, uh, and kind of get the bike going. So for now, we're kind of just throwing a bandaid on it and
15:11just giving the thing a lot of extra revs to make sure we don't stall the thing and embarrass ourselves.
15:16Again, I think if you own the bike, it's going to be a little bit better.
15:19And you'll, well, not, not better. You're just going to get used to it and, and, um,
15:24yeah, be a little bit more smooth with it than we are. We're kind of, we're riding the thing a
15:28little bit aggressive right now, uh, in the stop and go stuff that we had been doing just to kind
15:33of avoid, again, making a fool on ourselves and stalling the thing. But, uh, it seems to be
15:37something a lot of people have commented on is didn't, uh, something definitely I think Indian
15:41will want to address is this a little bit better clutch, uh, more clutch feel in this thing.
15:45And now we've got just open road, beautiful coastline views.
15:51And yeah, I mean, that's, this is really where the super scout is going to shine.
15:55You've obviously got your added wind protection. Um, you know, it, it definitely makes a difference.
16:00I'm so much happier on the super scout here than on the bobber, at least in this environment for
16:07sure. Again, the bobber fits in great around town, but, uh, on, on bigger open highways and stuff,
16:13this is, this is definitely where the super scout really shines. The only thing from an ergonomic
16:19standpoint and a rider position standpoint that, um, I would probably look to adjust if I own this
16:25motorcycle is in the seat. Now this is obviously Indian pitches this bike as a, a light touring
16:30bike. You've obviously got, you know, again, the, the windscreen and you've got the saddlebags,
16:35but the seat still feels a little bit narrow and unsupportive. And it, uh, it's just really small and
16:42narrow at the, the front edge of it. Um, maybe a little bit bigger rider than the average scout
16:48owner will be. Uh, but yeah, I think a little bit more supportive seat if you are going to actually
16:52be putting some miles on this thing. So, which, uh, I think that's, that's really what, who Indian
16:57has built this, this version of the scout for, but otherwise, uh, yeah, I think this is a, a nice
17:05kind of extension of the lineup. Obviously this is a new model for 2025. It, it expands the scout
17:10family and, uh, we're going for it. We're going for it. They're letting us over.
17:17And, uh, I think, yeah, I think this is going to attract a lot of customers because
17:21well, Hey, it shows the versatility of the platform, which is nice, but there, there are
17:25people that are going to go want to do some more miles and, and this added wind protection and the
17:30comfort, you know, from this swept back handlebar, it does make a difference. So I actually really
17:35enjoy my time on the super scout here. This is, uh, probably the bike, if I'm being completely
17:41honest that I was, again, least, least excited to ride. I think visually it's not as appealing to me.
17:46I think you lose some of the aggression from the other bikes. Um, but actually it, uh, it's very
17:52functional. It's a very functional machine. And in that sense, I think this is, this is a neat option.
17:58It's also, again, just really cool about how different Indian can make the platform look and
18:05appear and how much of a different emotion and feeling they can evoke from the bike, uh, by,
18:10by just adding these couple components, right? Whether it's even just from a look standpoint
18:15with all the added chrome, but then having the, uh, having the windscreen, the bags. Um, yeah,
18:20I think it's a, this is a neat platform. I think we are essentially all wrapped on this motorcycle.
18:27Again, really enjoyed it for, for this kind of highway cruising, cruising along the coast.
18:32This is an excellent package for that. I think, uh, for the person who wants to do some light
18:37touring, uh, this is actually going to be a bike that's worth looking at. Uh, next up,
18:42I believe we are going to jump on the classic scout classic. So that'll be interesting. We're
18:48basically just going to, we're going to add some swoopy fairings and we're going to lose our,
18:53our windshield and saddlebags, which the saddlebags actually have been nice. It has, uh, it's been
18:58nice to be able to access that, have a little storage for our backpack. Um, again, they aren't
19:02lockable, but very easy. So they're really easy to open up actually. Um, and, uh, either throw your
19:08stuff in and grab them, whatever the case may be. But, uh, yeah, actually enjoyed my time here on the
19:13super scout and, uh, minus the price, minus the price and a little bit, uh, I could go for a little
19:19bit more seat support. Again, seat is just a little bit small for, um, I think for touring for any
19:25amount of serious miles. So other than that, it's been a good time and I cannot argue with the views.
19:33That's just absolutely incredible. Uh, you gotta love motorcycles and where they'll take you.
19:37All right. Onto the, uh, the classic next. All right. Well, we have lost the windscreen and side
19:44bags and we have gained some swoopy fenders. That means we are on the scout classic.
19:52And, uh, yeah, I mean, it's, it's not a lot to talk about coming off the super scout because we've
19:57got a lot of the same finishes. You got the, the kind of the, the chrome finishes, the swoopy handlebar
20:02for more relaxed ergonomics. Again, you do get the more classic look with the, uh, kind of longer
20:10fenders to this bike, but as a whole, this is a lot like the super scout. This is kind of,
20:14in a lot of ways, your base model scout. Uh, it does have the three inches of rear suspension travel.
20:21I keep, will keep saying that because it does make a big difference over the bobber. Yes. I understand
20:27the bobber being got kind of entry, both in terms of price and features and styling. Uh, but man,
20:34you got a bit of a glutton for punishment to, uh, to jump on that bobber for, for long distances,
20:38or if you're not riding on perfectly smooth roads, because that two inches of rear suspension travel
20:42is tough. Uh, yeah. So not a lot to talk about outside of the, the extra chrome finishes on this
20:48bike. So I will mention a couple of other things that I have learned throughout the ride. Uh, some
20:52things we like, some things we don't. The biggest thing is, uh, I will say the transmission is not
20:57my favorite. So this is the same transmission as before it's been carried over and it's just a
21:03little bit clunky. It's okay. I haven't had any like false neutrals or anything like that, but, uh,
21:09yeah, it's, uh, as the bike gets more advanced and more modern, that is something where you're
21:14starting to notice it feel that component itself is a little bit more outdated. Uh, the tank is, uh,
21:22I think I mentioned earlier, the tank on the outside is a touch smaller on the inside. It's
21:26a touch larger. Uh, this wasn't because they didn't, was trying to add fuel capacity or shrink
21:31the size of the tank from the outside, make it look smaller. It is because they have been trying,
21:36they're trying to accommodate a new air box. Now, all that being said, uh, this bike actually
21:42gets a little bit better range. Now that is because a combination of the tank being just a little
21:47bit bigger, but, uh, also because this engine is more fuel efficient. So Indian says that this
21:53bike will go about 20 more miles on a tank of fuel compared to the previous generation. So that's
22:00worth noting. I don't think there's anyone out there who has ever asked for less range. So, uh,
22:05not something Indian was necessarily trying to do, but, uh, it's, uh, you know, it's a nice little
22:11aside benefit. So other than that, uh, yeah, you know, ergonomics are all the same. Basically,
22:18as a super scout, you got this, uh, swept back handlebar and, uh, it's quite relaxed. I'm going
22:23to keep saying it, but I do wish the seat was just a little bit bigger. I wish I had a little
22:27bit more support now on this bike. You're not going to be doing theoretically. You won't be doing as
22:31much touring. It'll be a little bit more around town, casual riding. So maybe not as, uh, as big of a
22:36thing, but, uh, yeah, for me, I wish the seat was a little bit bigger. I'll be excited to try
22:40some accessory options and here we go. Uh, yeah. So overall, this is, uh, it's nice. It was kind of
22:48interesting to start off on the barber and then go to the super scout. And now we're here on basically
22:52what is, uh, a much more basic model, but, uh, importantly, a, a bike that Indian feels offers
22:59a timeless look to it. That's the thing. They want this to just have a classic cruiser look and, uh,
23:05yeah, you got all the other stuff. You got the, you got the 1250 engine with 105 horsepower in this.
23:10You got the all new frame and the, uh, in the case of this bike here with our, uh,
23:15limited plus tech package, you've got the, uh, ride modes, tracks control and, uh, the touch screen
23:21display. So nice features. And, uh, um, I'm missing my wind protection a little bit, uh, from the super
23:27scout. I really enjoyed having that, but, uh, yeah, I think for someone who's not going to be doing as
23:31much highway riding or something like that, or touring, this is, uh, this is an equally good option. So
23:37something, another thing to consider, uh, also maybe you just like the more classic look. I don't
23:42know, not, uh, not judging you for it because it is a clean looking motorcycle. So we have arrived,
23:49good old Santa Cruz, absolutely beautiful day. Nice to wrap it up on the old classic here.
23:56Uh, definitely enjoy this. Uh, I think this is a lot like this ball. This bike is a lot like the
24:01bobber in that, uh, it definitely feels better suited to kind of, I don't want to say slow speed
24:08cruising, but just traditional cruising. I mean, obviously, um, the super scout is, it does feel
24:15like a bike that you actually can do some touring on and, uh, you know, in the, obviously the 101
24:22and the sport, which we haven't ridden yet, but those are going to be bikes that are going to be a
24:25little bit more spirited and have a little bit more fun with. Uh, this bike is just that kind of
24:30one central cruiser. It, uh, it's relaxed in the ways it needs to be with just, uh, some,
24:35some really strong underpinnings to it. So, uh, did get to play around a little bit with the display
24:42here and I get to plug in the, uh, directions to our hotel that we're heading to, which is nice.
24:48Nice to get to experience that a little bit. And, uh, yeah, I just, I think this is a good example
24:53of how well Indian has integrated the electronics into this platform. Uh,
24:59one of the big things for them is, is adding that stuff and not necessarily the display because
25:05they've been doing that for, for a while now, but, uh, you know, ride modes and trash control
25:10and, and in this case, yes, the display, um, without it, without it feeling overwhelming,
25:15without it completely changing the experience and, uh, changing that, that kind of vibe
25:21that you get, uh, from the scout and especially a bike like this, the classic.
25:25All right. That's, uh, three bikes down two to go, uh, day one update of two days. And, uh,
25:32yeah, so far so good, actually really enjoying the scout. It's really interesting. I think the
25:35big takeaway from today is realizing how versatile and flexible the platform is. I think that's,
25:40uh, one of the big gains that we've had in, in modern manufacturing and, you know, we've,
25:46we've always seen it in the auto industry, but now you're especially seeing it in a motorcycle
25:50industry where, uh, manufacturer can build a platform and then adapt it based on kind of
25:54the components that they, that they're using for each version. And, and you really see that
25:59in the scout platform, you have, uh, everything that we rode today from the, the bobber to the
26:03super scout, uh, you know, to even, even just the classic, it, it totally changes the experience.
26:09Uh, and it, it makes it so where each bike works in a certain environment really well, uh,
26:14especially the bobber and the super scout and the bobber is great for around town,
26:18obviously not a ton of suspension travel, but, uh, you know, again, it's all about
26:22that kind of looks and feel and you get that from the bobber around town. And then the super scout
26:26just feels really flexible out on the highway, better wind protection. It's just more comfortable,
26:30especially with those relaxed ergonomics. Uh, so yeah, so far so good. Now tomorrow,
26:35we've got an even better day plan because we're going to do a bunch more kind of a little bit more
26:39spirited riding on the, on the sport and the one-on-one. So really looking forward to that.
26:44And I think that's just going to, uh, bring this whole thing together and just, uh,
26:48really show what this, this platform is capable of. Um, yeah, it's, it's been fun so far. We've
26:53been blessed with some great weather and looking forward to doing it, uh, doing it again in a few
26:57hours. More scout. All right. So it's day two. We're still in Santa Cruz, but we're heading back
27:03to San Francisco today. Uh, we're going to be riding the sport scout and the one-on-one scout. I am
27:07starting on the red one-on-one there, which in my opinion is probably the best looking, uh, bike in
27:13this lineup and it looks so good. Uh, inverted fork on that bike. Uh, you've also got the, uh, piggyback
27:19shocks that are fully adjustable. And again, you do have that 111 horsepower tune on that thing. So
27:24this thing should be pretty cool. We got a lot more spirited ride today. Yesterday was kind of all about
27:28cruising the coast. And today, uh, we're doing a bunch of back roads, a bunch of twisty stuff. So
27:32should be a lot of fun, a little bit more fast pace. And, uh, we're going to see what these bikes
27:36are all about. Well, here it is the bike, uh, honestly, probably most excited to ride the one-on-one
27:43scout mentioned earlier that the big difference here on this bike is that you've got the fully
27:48adjustable inverted fork piggyback shocks that are adjustable. You've also got, uh, dual disc brakes
27:54and, uh, Brembo calipers, which is a really nice upgrade. We've done just a couple little, uh, small
28:01loops around the downtown area here in Santa Cruz, uh, for some photo stuff. And already it sounds
28:08silly, but already I can tell this suspension is, is such an upgrade. Uh, just hitting a couple
28:14manhole covers and stuff like that. We'll see a little bit more what it's like, uh, when we get
28:18into some of the twisties and some of the faster paced stuff, but, uh, yeah, honestly, uh, it, it is,
28:24you can already tell a difference there. And that suspension brakes are a little bit, uh, touchier
28:29and in a good way. And, uh, you know, also you've got that added power, right? And just overall,
28:34this thing feels a lot more snappy, a lot more aggressive, really, uh, really like what I'm
28:41feeling so far on this thing, uh, ergonomic wise. So I have the, uh, the stock bars for the one-on-one,
28:48which is a six inch riser. And I like the ergos that we've got, uh, uh, there's a bike here,
28:53I should say that Indian has with a, I'm just going to stop right here real quick for some folks,
28:59uh, with, uh, 10 inch risers. And I might even like those a little bit more. Again,
29:04I'm a taller riders. They, with the angle of the riser, it comes back a little bit.
29:08So you're not reached out as far. That's been one of the surprises for me is that you actually
29:13are stretched out a bit on this bike. Again, I'd say the most on the bobber, but even on this bike
29:18here, you it's, I've, I've got pretty long arms and they're almost fully extended, um, reaching
29:25out over to the bar. So, um, but I do like the, the setup, uh, even more so than, than the other
29:31bikes. I think it looks cool, but also for me as a taller rider, it, it does fit pretty well too.
29:35It's funny how quick we went from being, uh, being on the coast at the beach to being up here
29:40in some really cool roads, uh, already. Yeah. So the biggest thing I could tell about this one-on-one
29:45is just way more planted through the middle of a corner. You could be a lot more aggressive with it.
29:50Uh, yesterday riding the bobber, the super scout, a couple of those things,
29:54when you'd hit a bump, it would bounce you around quite a bit. Um, you know,
29:58the suspension could only do so much it, whereas this upgraded stuff, you know, the inverted fork
30:04is, man, it handles so much better. It gives you some, some plushness as you hit the bump,
30:09but also it's got that just really good support, uh, when you're pushing the bike and man,
30:14you can actually ride this thing. It's, it, to me, it really is the kind of performance cruiser
30:19that so many people, uh, want. You know, I think this is the type of bike where a couple of years
30:25ago people would buy, uh, a stock motorcycle and try to throw brakes and suspension at it and
30:30and get it to the level that something like this is at where you're buying it off, you know, showroom
30:34floor and man, it is a lot of fun. It's really capable. And, uh, the other thing is the engine.
30:42I know it's only six horsepower and torque's actually the same, but it does, you feel this
30:48thing, it just, it's, they, they've woken it up quite a bit. It, it, it really does feel a lot
30:53more responsive. It has that grunt, you know, already the, the stock tuning has a lot of that
31:00mid-range grunt and this just has more. Um, it, uh, makes it really fun to just drive off of a corner,
31:07especially again, because the bike's not moving around as much. It just plants and go. So man,
31:12I'm really, really liking this thing. Uh, it's everything, everything it promises to be, which
31:18is, uh, a middleweight cruiser with that's performance oriented, but still a cruiser.
31:23It's still very much gives you cruiser vibes. Unlike maybe, you know, the sports dress Harley
31:29Davidson sports dress, which, which is a little bit farther on the performance side of things.
31:34This gives you all the feelings that a cruiser, that you want from a cruiser, uh, with, with just
31:39enough, you know, chassis performance and engine performance to just have a blast riding with your
31:45buddies. Uh, I will say, you know, if, if you're shopping for a scout and, you know, when Indian
31:52finally releases the information and an opportunity to update the, the ECU tuning, the engine tuning,
31:59uh, I would say it's absolutely worthwhile if you don't go with the one-on-one, uh, it definitely
32:04wakes this, this engine up. Uh, but you know, again, uh, six horsepower and it, it really does
32:10make a difference. It's, uh, it's worthwhile, I think. I mean, depending on the price, but if it's,
32:15you know, it's a couple hundred dollars, it's, it's definitely going to be worth it. And, uh,
32:20if you're all right with spending the money, man, this one-on-one might be the way to go.
32:24This thing is an absolute blast. I've had so much fun riding it. Um, you can ride it up in the,
32:30in the twisties like this, have some fun. Um, and then, you know, still, I think it's still going
32:35to make a great cruiser for around town and stuff like that. Uh, the only, only thing I will say
32:41on the, as far as negatives with this bike, you still are limited in terms of cornering clearance.
32:47So there is no added cornering clearance, uh, compared to the other bikes. And yeah, you're definitely
32:52still going to scrape if you're, if you're riding at a, at a decent pace. So, um, maybe you're here,
32:58maybe not, but we definitely did scrape down a little bit here and there, but otherwise, uh,
33:03man, such a, such a fun motorcycle to ride and just enough performance to allow you to push.
33:08And I think the cool thing is, uh, with the bike is that I think it's a bike that you,
33:13there's enough performance to it where you're not going to outgrow it. I think that's a lot of
33:16people's concerns with, uh, I don't know, a middleweight cruiser in general is that, okay,
33:22maybe you'll get into the platform and, and then you'll outgrow it, um, pretty quickly and be looking
33:27to move up where I think this one has enough performance to it, enough style, enough character
33:32that this is a bike that you can hold onto for a while. In my opinion, I think this is something
33:38that's going to keep you satisfied and, you know, keep you having fun every time you pull the thing out
33:43of the garage. So really, really happy with this bike. We're supposed to jump on the sport next,
33:49and it'll be interesting to see kind of the differences and go back to that standard suspension.
33:53And, uh, I think I'm going to miss this thing. I really do. All right. We're saying bye to our
33:58one-on-one that we were riding things. That thing is a lot of fun hands down so far, my favorite bike
34:03of the lineup, just it's, it's got the performance you want. It's, uh, it's still got all the,
34:10the scout vibes to it, but just, it works really well. Uh, suspension is a big,
34:15big benefit over the other models for sure. So a little pit stop, beautiful place for it here.
34:22And then, uh, we're going to jump on the sport, head to lunch. And then after lunch, we're heading
34:26directly back to San Francisco. So good, uh, good day so far on these things. And, uh,
34:33oh, having fun, a lot of fun on that one-on-one. And boom, just like that, we're back on a motorcycle.
34:40Again, you'll notice, uh, so sport scout, I should say, but, uh, 10 inch risers on this one,
34:45which is an accessory. It's the tallest, uh, clamps that, uh, bar risers, I should say,
34:50that Indian offers as an accessory. And, uh, you've still got the moto bar, like what we had on the
34:56101, obviously completely different than the classic and super scout and even the bobber.
35:02Uh, man, this riding position, I think it's pretty cool. Uh, definitely not as commanding of a riding
35:07position as, uh, with the 101 with the six inch risers, but, uh, you sure feel cool doing it.
35:14Uh, a couple other accessories on this bike here, we've got these Rizoma mirrors, and then we've got
35:19little small saddlebags on the back that I was able to throw, uh, just my sweatshirt in. And,
35:26uh, yeah, I mean, honestly, if I'm being honest, I really like the look of this bike, especially with
35:33the accessories on it, but, uh, just a few corners in and I am, I am missing the brakes and suspension
35:40from the 101. It's, they really, really do make a difference. This, it kind of takes you back to
35:47just cruising. Honestly, it's just like, okay, you don't need to push as much and, and ride as fast.
35:52It's just, it's this bike with the, with the standard traditional suspension and single brake
35:56disc. It's just, you kind of go back into just cruising with your buddies, having fun, relax,
36:01a little bit more relaxed pace, honestly, from the notes that I've been referencing when we stop,
36:06uh, when you're, when you're talking fully kitted, basically a fully kitted sport versus a fully kitted
36:14101. And by fully kitted, I mean the limited plus tech package, it's about a $1,300 difference.
36:21And so what that means is for, uh, by saving $1,300, you're losing again, the suspension
36:30brakes and the paint that I really actually liked. At first I thought the paint, you know,
36:35calling the paint a big upgrade on the 101 was a little bit silly, but having ridden the thing
36:40and be staring at the tank, it really is a nice paint job that they've got on that. And it is
36:45probably worth a little extra money. Um, yeah, but, uh, $1,300 upgrade between, uh, between, uh,
36:53the sport and the 101 and I don't know, you can save yourself some bucks, but that 101 was pretty good.
37:00Uh, as far as, as far as this goes, handling wise, we can talk a little bit about that because,
37:06uh, I think the, in terms of agility and nimbleness, uh, very similar between the 101 and this,
37:12obviously you can be a little bit more aggressive with the 101 just because of the added performance
37:17out of the suspension and the composure. But overall, I mean, there's a little bit of weight
37:23as you tip the bike in, but it's not, it doesn't feel incredibly heavy, uh, steering. I'm actually
37:32pretty surprised at the pace that we're able to go on these things and, and have fun and
37:35not feel like we're working too hard. It depends on the bar setup for sure. You know, yesterday
37:42riding the super scout in the classic with the wider kind of swept back handlebars, uh,
37:47the ergonomics on that didn't really lend itself to comfortable. I'll try to be nice to this bicyclist.
37:54Uh, it didn't really lend itself to aggressive riding obviously, but I felt it more in my shoulders.
37:58And the one thing I will say about that, depending on, uh, the bikes in the lineup,
38:03the different handlebars that come stock with, and then you got the forward controls,
38:07the mid controls and the handlebars that are available, handlebars and risers,
38:11I should say that are available as accessories. Indian says that you've got about 30 different
38:16ergonomic position options. Well, I had an idea that this was going to be the case, but the last
38:21couple of miles on the highway really proved the point that the sport scout, despite the name,
38:26despite them moving the sport name versus rogue, this is a bike that's definitely meant for more
38:31just highway cruising, just open, open road. You know, it's not a bike that I would, I would go
38:36toward if I was looking for something that I wanted to ride up in the canyons with friends,
38:41ride aggressively. That really is the territory of the 101. I know you're probably tired of hearing
38:46me say it by now and compare those, but that 101 is so good. The limitation here really is that
38:51suspension. You're just bouncing off stuff and there's only so much that you could do to ride
38:55around those things. Sometimes you hit some, some big bumps or potholes and man, it, it really is
39:00jarring on this thing. That being said, I mean, I, I do like the look again. We've got the 10 inch
39:05risers, the accessory risers on this thing at the motor bar. It is a very cool look and feel for me.
39:10If I was looking for a bike just to commute on the majority of my commute is just on the freeway.
39:16I think it would be great. It's a bike that, you know, I could pick up, I would pick up if I was
39:20doing a bunch of my riding style is more just cruising down to the beach on the weekends,
39:24things like that. But the 101 has such an advantage if you are doing more aggressive spirited riding.
39:31The only other thing I did want to mention after a couple of miles at speed on the freeway is that
39:36you do get a little bit of vibration from this engine, you know, through the seat, basically at
39:41about 85 miles per hour. It's nothing super hindering. It's just, if you are planning really long days on your
39:48scout, then maybe that would be something to consider or something to think about.
39:52For me, it's, I think it's something I'd expect from a, from a bigger V twin engine like this. So
39:59that's, that's kind of the final thoughts on the old sport scout here. We're again, if you could see
40:04the city here, we're just a couple of miles, a couple of minutes from our hotel in downtown San
40:10Francisco. All right. Just like that. We're back. We're back to where we started here down in downtown
40:14San Francisco. I won't go over too much. I'm not going to recap all these bikes because we've talked
40:20about it so much over the last two days and all the miles that we put on these things. The big
40:24takeaways for me, I think the biggest thing is that how flexible and versatile this platform is. I think
40:29Indian has done a really good job where you've got so many different flavors and they all work well
40:34in certain environments. So if there's, there's some type of specific type of riding that you enjoy
40:39most or that type that you do, there is a bike likely for you. Uh, for me, if I had to rank them,
40:45and that was one of my goals in coming here was to rank these bikes, uh, in order of, let's say,
40:50least a favorite, least favorite to favorite. I'm going to start by saying my least favorite is the
40:55classic. It just doesn't do a lot for me. There's nothing special about it. It's a good looking motorcycle
41:01in the sense that it does have those just kind of nice, relaxed vibes to it. But for me,
41:06there's nothing really special to it when you compare it to some of the other stuff.
41:10Now, the second least favorite, and this one might come as a little bit of a surprise because
41:14it is their most popular Scout model, but the bobber, the bobber for me, I just can't ride
41:19something with that two inches of suspension travel out back. It's just not enough. You've got to,
41:23man, you got to be a glutton for punishment. If, if you're riding that thing, you got to have
41:27quick reflexes and be able to navigate around every single pothole or bump manhole cover that you come
41:33across or else you're going to just hurt yourself. I think it's, it's pretty painful when you hit a
41:38big bump on that thing. Number three of least favorite are, let's say, we're starting to get
41:43into some of our favorites. I will go with the sport here, maybe a little bit of a surprise,
41:47but the sport I think is cool because you get a lot of the looks, you get the blacked out treatments,
41:53and I don't know, it just, to me, it looks good. There's, especially here with some of these
41:56accessories on it, you can see the potential of it. Yeah, it's an enjoyable motorcycle and I think it's a
42:01really good base for something that you'd want to build. Maybe even more of a surprise, my number
42:07two favorite is going to be the Super Scout. Now, I like the Super Scout because, again,
42:12that flexibility that it gives you. This is a bike that you really could go light touring on,
42:18put a lot more miles on, and then it's really easy to pull that windscreen off. You've got the
42:23added luggage space on it. I think it's just a bike that you could do more with. You obviously still
42:28have basically all the bones of the other machines, also with, you know, the 16-inch wheels. Yes, but
42:34I just, I really do think that bike will satisfy a lot of people. I really enjoyed cruising the coast
42:39on that thing, and maybe no surprise, my favorite bike of all this Scout lineup is the 101. Throwing
42:47that suspension and that brake package and then also including the upgraded ECU tuning with the 111
42:53horsepower, it really shows the full potential of the Scout platform. It's super interesting because
42:59that was one of the things that Indians said about the bike is they had that 101 name. They knew they
43:06wanted to use it. They didn't have the bike for it yet, and they felt like this was the bike that
43:10was really deserving of that 101 name. That bike, in my opinion, is everything I'd want this Scout
43:17platform to be and to offer. It's got the performance, but it's still got that V-Twin
43:22Cruiser feel to it. I really enjoy that machine. I think that's definitely the best starting point.
43:29If you've got other needs, if you want something, again, with some touring capabilities, if you like
43:33the looks of the bobber, yes, those are enjoyable packages in their own right, but that 101 is really
43:39where it's at. I still struggle a little bit with the pricing on some of those models, and especially
43:43that Super Scout and the 101 are a little bit pricey, but hey, it's just, it seems to be where
43:50the world is going these days for some reason, but if you're in the market and you're all right with
43:57spending a little bit of money putting down a little cash for something new, this new platform
44:00is definitely improvement over the previous generation Scouts. That engine is really good.
44:05That mid-range grunt on the thing is phenomenal, and obviously, again, with that steel frame, maybe
44:10you'll do a little bit more customizing with this thing. As a whole, really enjoyed the bikes,
44:14enjoyed our time. It's not perfect, but hey, these are really cool cruisers, and it's still a cruiser.
44:20That's the main thing. That's the big takeaway, too, is that these are very much traditional V-Twin
44:25cruisers, and that's what Indian was going for, so I'd say it was a success. If you are interested in
44:31checking out more, hey, and you want to try them out yourself, find an Indian demo opportunity down the
44:36road, maybe visit a local dealer, throw a leg over them, because it's interesting to do that and
44:41understand the differences, even from just an ergonomic standpoint, and get to visually see how
44:46different these bikes are. Thank you, guys. I know that was a lot. That's two full days, five motorcycles.
44:52It was a lot, but I appreciate you coming along for the ride with us. It was a lot of fun. We had a blast.
44:56Thank you again for watching the video. If you liked the video, be sure to hit that like button. If you
45:00don't, give it a thumbs down. If you got any questions about the bikes, drop a comment in the video.
45:05We'll try to get you answers. We'll see you on the next one, guys.
