00:00Oh, what is this? I don't know this song. It's coming to me. No.
00:12Okay, let's see. A single mom who works two jobs, who loves her kids and never stops.
00:20I'm a survivor.
00:22A single mom who works two jobs, who loves her kids and never stops.
00:27I'm a survivor is ageless. So I'm really not surprised that the new generation,
00:33they're loving the song. They're having fun on TikTok. I've done a couple with my donkeys.
00:43And that's what a great song is. It's relatable. It's timeless. When people can listen to it and
00:50go, oh, that's my song, or that's my mom's song, or I know my Aunt Jeannie's going to love that song.
00:56That's when you know it's a great song.
01:00Okay, next one is, I made myself the solemn vow that I was going to be a lady somehow,
01:06but I didn't know when or how. Fancy.
01:09I was going to be a lady someday, though I didn't know when or how.
01:13I love Fancy because it's a story song. It's very theatrical. And Fancy is the last show we sing
01:22on our concerts. So if we haven't done Fancy, the fans know not to go home. They won't leave until
01:27we do Fancy. Doug Sizemore, my musical director, said, you know what? If we did Fancy, the third
01:34song, and quit, I think everybody would be happy. I was like, well, I don't know about that, but
01:38that's how much they enjoy Fancy. At the CMA Awards show, several years ago, we had an idea
01:45to do a very drastic reveal. I not only came out in the coat with something underneath,
01:54I had something over that. So it was a one, two, three outfit performance. It was so nerve-wracking.
02:00We were all just sweating bullets. It worked. Thank you, Lord. It's an iconic video because back
02:08then in the day, you could do videos that were longer. I called them mini movies, and Fancy was
02:13one of the ones that was pretty long. And when I'm in his arms, oh, he swears there's no one else.
02:21He swears there's no one else. Who? What is this? Oh, he swears there's no one else. You lie? No.
02:30What is it? Consider me gone? No. Oh, does he love you? Oh my gosh, yes.
02:37When I'm in his arms, oh, he swears there's no one else.
02:44Does He Love You is a song that I fought for. Tony Brown was my producer, and he thought,
02:51I don't know about two women catfighting. I said, are you serious? So I got Linda Davis to sing it
02:56with me, and I've recorded it with different people, performed it with different people,
03:00and it is a song that keeps on giving. I also got to record Does He Love You with Dolly Parton.
03:05She is a dream come true, getting to work with her. I mean, she beats you there. That was so
03:12aggravating to me. I was going to be there, ready to go, shoot the first thing that we were going to
03:17do, and then Dolly would come in. Well, for some reason, the trailer I was going to use on set,
03:23the air conditioning broke down or something was wrong. And so I had to go by my office,
03:27get ready there, and then come to the set. Dolly was already there. I wanted to beat her there so bad
03:33to show her the hospitality, welcoming, and everything, but she's a sweetheart. She did the
03:37Reba TV show with me, came on an episode. When I lost my band in 91 to a plane crash, Dolly called me.
03:44She said, what do you need? You want my band? She sent Gary Smith, her band leader, to put a band
03:50together for me. She and Vince Gill were right there for me the whole time.
03:54When the icy wind blows through you, remember that it's me who feels the cold, most of all.
04:02When it blows through you, remember that it's me who... It's coming to me... No.
04:11Whoever's in New England, how can I do that? You know, it's when it's out of context, I get, yeah.
04:17When the icy wind blows through you, remember that it's me.
04:24Whoever's in New England was my first gold album. And I had just started working with Jimmy Bowen
04:29as my producer. And he sent his right-hand man, Don Lanier, who we call Dirt. I don't know why
04:36they nicknamed him that. But he'd send us out to publishing companies to look for songs. And Don and
04:42I were sitting there listening. And this song came on. And Don always wore a baseball cap. And his
04:48eyebrows disappeared. I got chills. My hair stood up on my arm. And I knew that was going to be a
04:54monster song. If I can tell young Reba something about what's going to happen, I would say, slow down.
05:03Enjoy every minute. It's going to be a blast. And you're going to laugh. You're going to cry.
05:08You're going to have your heart broken. Get back up. Dust yourself off. And go back at it.
05:14Because it's worth it. Okay. If you think you can do better than this, then I guess we're done.
05:20Consider me gone. Oh, yeah.
05:27You know, a funny thing my daddy used to always say, when he was in school, they'd go down to the
05:33playground and they'd have their marbles and they'd play. And he said, if anybody didn't want to
05:38play with me, he said, I just took my marbles and went somewhere else. That's the kind of way
05:42Consider Me Gone is. If you don't want me around, if you think you can do better than this, I'm out
05:47of here. I'm going to take my marbles and go somewhere else. Consider Me Gone. It's a very
05:52powerful song. And when I sing it on stage, I don't need to sing. The crowd, the women are so loud
05:59singing this song. It's their anthem. It's their Yes We Can. Okay. Well, now it seems so sad,
06:07everything he gave to us, took all he had. Greatest man I never knew.
06:18This was a song that at first I said I didn't want to record it because daddy was live. But I
06:23recorded it and it just kept making more and more sense. It fits so well. Because daddy never said
06:29he loved me. He didn't tell any of his kids. I don't know that I've ever heard him say that to
06:33mama. Except in 87, he was having triple bypass heart surgery. And I was there in the hospital
06:39with him. And the next morning I went in to see him. I said, daddy, I got to go. I got to hit the
06:45bus and we got to play Chattanooga tonight. We were in Tulsa. And he said, well, okay, I love you.
06:50And we all looked at each other. He said, yeah, it's the anesthesia. Hadn't worn off yet.
06:55Oh, he smiles that little crooked smile. There's no denying he's your child. What do you say?
07:03Is that right? No. What do you, he smiles that little crooked smile. There's no denying. What
07:07is it? Oh, that's right. Those two are recorded at the same time.
07:12He smiles that little crooked smile. There's no denying he's your child.
07:18This resonated so much with me because of my son, Shelby. And he takes after me in some way. And
07:24he takes after his dad in some way. And when I recorded it, I thought, man, this is for Shelby.
07:29Oh, he loved the attention. Absolutely. A song being dedicated to him. You bet.
07:36Everybody, here comes the life of the party. Going out like that.
07:42Here comes the life of the party. Going out like that is a really fun song to do on stage.
07:50Everybody gets into it. They, you know, I put the microphone out and they going out like that.
07:55And women love it.
08:00One time, one time our daughter gets pregnant and I never hear the end of it.
08:05There were so many great storylines that when you got through watching the show and you turn
08:21the TV off, go, wow. I laughed. I cried a little and I learned something. That's what I love so much
08:28about the Reba TV show. Just like Happy's Place. We always have a lot of fun, a lot of laughter,
08:34but there's always that point in the show that touches your heart. You go, aww. Sometimes you
08:39cry a little bit, but you turn the TV off going, ah, I feel better. Getting to do Happy's Place after
08:46it's been a long time since Reba's was canceled. And I thought, how's it going to work? Well,
08:51I've done movies and other things since then, but that muscle memory kicks back in. And it's like
08:57any other muscle. You've got to strengthen it. The similarity between me and the Reba character
09:02was we were the same. Hardheaded. I'm going to take charge. I don't care if I do mess it up. I'm
09:08going to fix it. That way. And now on Happy's Place, it's like, I don't know. I'm tired.
09:16Y'all fix it. I am so happy to announce that there is and will be a second season of Happy's Place.
09:23We're going to get 18 more episodes.
09:27Happy's Place.
