00:00Italian Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re calls for care for migrants, an end to wars, and action on global climate change in front of hundreds of world leaders attending the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday, April 26.
00:14He also repeated one of the Pope's strongest criticisms of U.S. President Donald Trump, who was in the audience by calling for, quote, building bridges, not walls.
00:24Pope Francis and Trump had exchanged criticisms for years, mainly over the Pope's calls to show compassion for migrants, whom Trump has often tried to deport.
00:33Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, Argentine President Javier Millet, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Britain's Prince William, and former U.S. President Joe Biden also attended the solemn funeral.
00:46After the funeral, the bells of St. Peter's rang in mourning as a simple wooden coffin was placed on an open popemobile and taken through central Rome to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
00:57Francis, who avoided much of the luxury of being Pope during his 12-year papacy, had asked to be buried there instead of St. Peter's.
01:05The basilica is located in a neighborhood with migrants, the poor, and the homeless.
01:10The Vatican estimated more than 250,000 people attended the ceremony, but the burial itself was held in private.
