00:20A referee has a tendency to accommodate a fighter's style. If a guy wants to fight inside, what have you. I experienced that with Roberto Duran the first time in Montreal. The referee allowed Duran to fight inside and do some dirty tactics. So that's their feeling there.
00:35Now, what kind of effect do you think this will have on both camps?
00:38If anything, Jim, it's going to be a very small psychological effect on Tyson. I think he will feel better by having Mills Lane in the ring. But one thing about it, the victory is going to depend on who's executed the proper punches and proper tactics.
00:54Okay, so there is a lot that is riding at stake. And so right now, let's go back to ringside for more on this and Steve Albert. Steve.
01:01Thank you, Jim. What would a big fight be without some controversy? Let me draw the opinions of my ringside partners. I'll turn to my right. First for the fight, Dr. Ferdy Pacheco. Ferdy, do you agree with the decision of referee Mitch Halpern stepping away to stem the distraction?
01:15No, I don't. I have two words, two feelings for this for Mitch. First, he's a gentleman. He's a mensch. He stepped aside because he thought it was for the betterment of the sport.
01:26Well, he graciously stepped out of the historical importance of this picture and the money to say.
01:32So pat on the head because he was a gentleman. But the second part is a very swift kick in the rump for not standing up for himself in fighting.
01:39This is a very tough sport. And referees, if they're going to be top flight referees, are going to have criticism level at them from beginning to end. He's got to learn how to take it. He's got to stand up and learn to go by the direction of the commission.
01:51If the commission voted four to one, by God, Dynamite couldn't get me out.
01:56I thought Mitch Halpern did an exceptional job in the first Holyfield Tyson fight. Let's get over here to Bobby Chez.
02:03What was going through the mind of Tyson's co-manager, John Horne? Was this strictly gamesmanship, trying to get into the head of either Holyfield or Halpern, just trying to get an edge?
02:13You know, I don't know. It could be just that. It could be just trying to show him, like, listen, we're going to call the shots. We're running things. We're their champion.
02:19I just don't believe that's it. I believe that maybe he had a problem with some of the punches they claim were low at one time, and then Mitch Halpern didn't take care of it and address it properly or headbutts that happened where Mike was headbutting. It was a cut.
02:29I'm not sure, but those are my best guesses you'd have to ask, John Horne.
02:35All right, one thing is for sure, Tyson's not fighting Mitch Halpern. He's not fighting Mills Lane. He's fighting Evander Holyfield.
02:41That's the guy he's got to be worried about, and as Mills Lane always says, let's get it on.

02:52As we close in on our second bout, the WBC Women's Lightweight title, also billed as the Female Pound for Pound Championship unofficially, featuring Christy Martin versus the only woman ever to beat her.
03:04And that is Andrea DeShang handing Martin her only pro defeat in 1989, a loss that Martin avenged some five months later.
03:10So tonight, the grudge match, and even though they haven't fought in seven years, they've become arch rivals to this day.
03:16Martin doesn't hide her feelings about DeShang, not one of her favorite people.
03:20It's Martin versus DeShang again, only this time the stakes are a lot higher.
03:26And here is the challenger, Andrea DeShang, back on November 11th, 1989.
03:31She won a five-round decision over Christy Martin.
03:34That was very early in Christy's career, only her fourth fight.
03:37In her fifth fight, she returned the favor, outpointed DeShang in five.
03:40But talk about two lives going in different directions following her 1990 loss to Martin.
03:45DeShang stopped fighting for six years, saying she couldn't get fights.
03:49Martin became a Sports Illustrated cover girl, the most recognizable face in women's boxing.
03:54DeShang came back in April of 96 with the surge of women's boxing, thanks ironically to Martin.
04:03And the champion, Christy Martin.
04:05She has become a major boxing attraction.
04:07The champion recently signed a three-year contract with Don King, reportedly worth a minimum of $1.5 million.
04:12It'll guarantee her more money per fight than some male world champions earned to defend their titles.
04:18A minimum of $100,000 per fight.
04:20And because of her all-out aggressive brawling style, she often steals the show on cards that are supposed to belong to seasoned veterans.
04:27Of course, her benchmark fight on the Bruno Tyson card, a blood-filled war with Deidre Gogerty, March of 96.

32:42Well the thing is I took the eight month layoff and I went back to the gym and I worked very hard on my skills.
32:46I wanted to use my jab more which it came later in the fight.
32:49Better defense which really didn't happen tonight like I wanted.
32:52But the stamina was there.
32:54I was able to punch when I wanted.
32:55I wasn't tired or exhausted after six or seven rounds.
32:57Well with that type of intensity and that type of talent where do you go from here?
