00:00The Malaysian Bar has called for a thorough investigation into a police

00:05shootout in Klang which resulted in the death of a man allegedly involved in a

00:09kidnapping. Bar President Ezri Abdullahab said the use of lethal force must

00:14always be measured and proportionate and a probe would ensure the use of force by

00:18the police was justified. In a statement he said a loss of life should ever be

00:23treated lightly and that the incident must be thoroughly investigated. On

00:28April 14th, Bukit Amon Criminal Investigation Department Deputy Director

00:33Fadil Marsus said a suspect believed to be involved in the kidnapping of a 16-year-old

00:37girl in Suramban was killed during a shootout with the police. Fadil said a

00:43pistol and parang were found in the suspect's vehicle and he had no

00:47criminal record. Ezri highlighted a recurring pattern where police claimed

00:52that weapons were found with deceased individuals after fatal shootings citing

00:56the 2010 case of 14-year-old Amin al-Rashid Amza who was shot dead by police. The

01:02Sha'alam High Court found no evidence of a parang in Amin al-Rashid's car, ruled

01:06Police Corporal Janine Cebu had wrongfully fired shots and awarded 400,000 ringgit in

01:11damages to Amin al-Rashid's family.
