Ashes in the Snow is a poignant historical drama directed by Marius A. Markevicius, based on Ruta Sepetys's bestselling novel Between Shades of Gray. Set in 1941, the film follows 16-year-old Lithuanian artist Lina Vilkas (Bel Powley) as she, along with her mother Elena (Lisa Loven Kongsli) and younger brother Jonas (Tom Sweet), is deported by Soviet forces to a Siberian labor camp. The film explores themes of resilience, survival, and the human spirit under oppression.
