00:00Yeah, I think the wicket's definitely different to what it was last year. Last year it was really flat and nice and didn't really bounce that much. This year it's a little bit more inconsistent, a bit harder to get used to. It might take some more time for batters to be able to get into their innings.
00:22But yeah, I think you see the spin bowls here have succeeded a bit more than the pace bowls this year. And we've had some of those slow wickets this year as well from Vizag, Chennai, things like that. So I think our team's well suited for that. But yeah, hopefully we can continue our good record here and as a home ground we can win more. And thanks for saying congratulations for tomorrow. I hope you can say that to me tomorrow night as well.
00:52How do you go about it yourself? You've been a insider over when we have to get up from World Cup. And when you're going through this batch, you could ideally want to play a few boards.
01:11How do you see this now that you're saying it is not as bad as they were last year? How do you see it right now?
01:20Yeah, I mean obviously I'd love to have some more runs next to my name. But that's the way cricket is sometimes. You go through highs and you go through lows.
01:28And I think the IPL have seen it in both years for me personally is sort of last year and now you're seeing this year.
01:36But no, I think the most important thing is to stay level through the whole thing, no matter if you're going well or not going so well.
01:44But yeah, I mean obviously my role as a batter is to get the team off to a nice start, but it doesn't mean I have to try and hit every ball for six.
01:52I'm working really hard through myself and my coaches and everyone around me. This is how I can get back into that team and succeed.
02:01Yeah, I mean Akshar is just one of those players that leads everyone and everyone follows him, I guess.
02:19He's an amazing talent and the way he plays just makes everyone really proud to be at Delhi Capital and he's so calm and relaxed at any point in time.
02:32We saw during that Super over a few games back, he's very relaxed and very calm, like he's done it a thousand times, but I'm not sure how many times he's done it.
02:41We love playing under Akshar and we think he's one of the best players in our team that we can follow and he can be a leader.
02:52What is your upgrade of any of the team? Is he good to go?
02:58Is this Fath? Fath? I think he's available tomorrow from my understanding. He should be available for selection, is my understanding.
03:07Jake, last season, Ricky Pontic was a head coach and he was someone who was publicly back in the U.S.
03:18in Australia. With him not being there, have you found it with me a bit difficult with an Indian coaching staff?
03:25How has the conversation been with them? The same sort of input that we may be brought from Ricky, has there been a difference at all?
03:33I mean, obviously Ricky's Ricky. He's obviously one of the best to ever do it for Australia.
03:40But no, I've worked under Hamung at Dubai Capitals as well, so it's nothing new. He's an awesome coach.
03:46And the coaching staff around it with Matthew Mott, our batting coach, and even everyone. So the players, Fath, I go to them, speak to them a lot.
03:55So it's not that much different. Obviously, Ricky's a wonderful coach and was a wonderful player.
04:02And, you know, I love playing under him, but, you know, Hamung's just the same.
04:07It's pretty obvious, isn't it? It's not great this year, but you can't be too results-based and outcome-based in this game.
04:27Otherwise, you just won't get anywhere. You've just got to keep trusting the process and keep backing your strengths
04:33and trying to strengthen your weaknesses and hopefully one day it turns around and then you kickstart again.
04:38That's the game. It's 20-20 cricket. It's going to happen. Not everyone's going to go out there and hit 50 off 20 balls every single time.
04:44It's just how you find ways to get through that, those little bad periods, and then come out on the other side stronger.
04:52James, you spoke about trying to stay level. Is that quite a big challenge for a guy?
04:57Young, you've already achieved quite a lot in your career. I imagine mentally it was probably tricky getting both of your left out.
05:03Have you just sort of navigated all of that, especially with the level of scrutiny over there?
05:09Yeah, it's obviously, it's under more eyes. More eyes are seeing this tournament than anyone.
05:14But I think, as you mentioned, it's only been a few years where I've been a part of things like this.
05:21And staying level is something that I've not always been good at. It takes a bit of learning to do that.
05:26But I think trying to focus on yourself and be as professional as you can in the gym, doing everything, like one percenters.
05:35So when you are going to be selected or could be selected from getting dropped, you've done everything you can that you're ready for the next chance.
05:45I think, I think, you have worked with the event, you've just told it and all of them.
05:52It has not been a great season for you to get from there, but there's one more guy in your camp, every season.
05:57So how have you been in conversation with them, especially during this tough phase?
06:01He's been one of the better back in the world of the game I've seen. So what have you been in conversation with them?
06:08Yeah, no, he's been really good, really calm. There's no real urgency about anything.
06:14You know, it's such a long tournament. He keeps saying that it's a long tournament.
06:18You know, we've got 14 games, we're only halfway through now. So there's so many more opportunities that could come.
06:25Just being ready is what he's saying. Keep being ready.
06:29And obviously working on some weaknesses and things like that. Pitches are a bit different this year, a bit slower.
06:37Working on some things that we can get through that with and then hopefully the next opportunity, as I said, should be good.
06:44And follow up to that, what was the conversation with you as a captain and a player? Because you know, you also know that it's basically proven that we did not have that kind of season. It was a tough start for you.
06:59So as a captain and a player, what was the conversations like?
07:03Very relaxed, very relaxed. We were having dinner after a game. He says, you've got so many more opportunities.
07:10There's going to be so many more times that you play for this franchise that you can succeed for us.
07:15The good thing is that we're winning. And we're winning well and we're winning in ways that we want to win.
07:22So what he says is just keep smiling. He always says keep smiling. And to everyone, not just me.
07:29But yeah, he's one of those guys where he's so relaxed in all these situations. It feels like you're talking to one of your best friends instead of a captain.
07:37So he's been awesome.
07:40Jake, the reverse rate factor speaks of a lot because of saliva and the visit.
07:47So what's your opinion on the reverse rate which is happening?
07:50And in the last event, it was in session, but also there.
07:57But eventually, it came up like a result that players have not been practicing much of the reverse ball.
08:04And the saliva is being used on the ball. And hence, players have not survived that position.
08:10So what hope do you call that?
08:12I think my take is that saliva doesn't really affect reverse swing.
08:17Reverse swing, keep the ball as dry as you can on one side.
08:20Actually on both sides, but one side is just more coarse.
08:24I think the only reason why reverse swing is happening this year is because the pitches are a lot dry.
08:29And they're a lot slower.
08:31And we can see it getting used even by our bowlers.
08:35Every team's got reverse swing.
08:37But I just purely think it's conditions based.
08:40And I don't think the saliva has much to do with it.
08:42Especially with the white ball with that coating on it.
08:45It doesn't do a hell of a well.
08:47Thanks, everyone.
08:49Thanks, stuffYl.
08:50Thanks, activ intentions.
08:51Thanks,
