00:00I thought it was very interesting listening to you yesterday talking about the differences
00:04between the tight ends, and it seems like this kind of late tidal wave over the last
00:08two to three weeks where everyone was like, hey, Tyler Warren's good.
00:11No one's arguing that, but Colston Loveland has and deserves a seat at the table, and
00:16he might be better, especially depending on what offensive system and how he's used.
00:22Is that how you saw it?
00:24I do, and you have to start, Marshall, with what happened on the, you know, in front of
00:29the Bears.
00:30The top three offensive tackles are off the board, right?
00:33That's a major part of this discussion because, you know, I think a couple weeks ago we talked
00:37about Kelvin Banks from Texas as being a good fit for Chicago and upgraded to left tackle
00:42position, but he's off the board at nine, so obviously you pivot and you have a different
00:46discussion, and I agree with what Ben Johnson did here.
00:52You have to look at it from an offense perspective and how he's trying to create matchups in the
00:55pass game.
00:56Colston Loveland is 6'6", 248 pounds, and a really good route run.
01:00He's got the lower body quickness to shade press coverage.
01:03He can separate on crossers and overs.
01:06You know he can stretch the seams, and you're going to see a lot of split safety coverage.
01:09That's where he's a tight end down the middle of the field.
01:11Good after the catch in terms of his open field vision and ball carrier vision.
01:15And if you're the Bears right now, you can do much more with your two tight end sets.
01:21When you have Cole Comet on the field, when you have Loveland on the field, you can make
01:25it look like three wide receiver personnel.
01:27And now what you're doing to the defense is creating conflict.
01:30Are you going to stay in your base package?
01:32You're going to bring your sub package out there.
01:33How are you going to match up to our tight end, who is the 6'6 frame, who can play like
01:39a big slot receiver down the middle of the field?
01:42And Bears fans have to understand this, too.
01:43You just hired an offensive head coach.
01:46Okay, you hired an offensive head coach.
01:47He's also the play caller.
01:49He's going to do whatever it takes to make sure his offense is ready to go and ready to
01:53score points this fall.
01:54And this is a move that points to that.
