00:00It's no secret that some Bengals fans are frustrated with the selection of Shamar Stewart.
00:05The Bengals first round pick was selected 17th overall on Thursday night, and he is definitely a traits pick.
00:13Someone the Bengals are banking on to be far more productive from a sack perspective in the NFL than he was at Texas A&M.
00:21But the thing that a lot of people were shocked by is when Shamar Stewart on a conference call after the Bengals made him their pick,
00:28didn't recall any pre-draft contact with the Bengals.
00:33No combine meeting, no pre-draft visit, no anything, no phone call.
00:38You're going to hear from Shamar in just a second.
00:40It is worth noting that he did meet with the Bengals at the combine.
00:45So how could he forget a meeting with one of the many teams I'm sure he met with at the NFL combine?
00:51Well, it is speed dating.
00:52It's quick 15-minute meetings, in and out, all of those things.
00:56They probably blend together.
00:57And at the same time, it still seems like he should recall meeting Bengals brass.
01:04It reminds me of a Bengals blunder from a former first-round pick for the Bengals.
01:10We'll get to that in just a second.
01:11But first, what Shamar Stewart said about not having any pre-draft contact with the Bengals.
01:16Shamar, I know you wind up sometimes inside a tackle.
01:19Did the Bengals talk to you about maybe doing that on a pass rush down?
01:22Did they get to that point in talking to you about that?
01:24Actually, it's funny.
01:26I've never talked to the Bengals.
01:28What do you mean?
01:30Like, I didn't talk to them.
01:32Like, no 30 visit.
01:35And I don't recall having a meeting with y'all at the combine.
01:39You said you didn't meet with the Bengals at the combine, and you didn't have a top 30 visit?
01:43I know for sure I didn't have a 30 visit, but at the combine, I really don't remember having a visit, a meeting with y'all at the combine.
01:54I didn't see.
01:55I could find out.
01:57Do you remember a phone conversation, Shamar?
02:00Any type of...
02:00No, nothing.
02:02And I clipped out one of the pauses there, but there were...
02:07It was a little awkward on the conference call.
02:09Again, they met with him at the combine, and a lot of the 30 visits, those are evaluating guys that might not be as clean of prospects, might have health issues, might have character concerns, might have something that you want to ask.
02:23You want to get to know him a bit more for whatever reason while you're going through this process.
02:28So he checked all of those boxes for the Bengals.
02:30They didn't need to bring him in for a 30 visit.
02:32They held him in really, really high regard.
02:34But Shamar forgetting, not recalling the meeting, is a blunder.
02:41But it isn't as big of a blunder as what Jamar Chase did on draft night.
02:46This gets buried.
02:48This gets lost.
02:49Everyone remembers Jamar Chase and what he said about he's going to break every record they have when asked about Chad Johnson and A.J. Green and all of the Bengals' great receivers in team history.
03:00He also forgot who Zach Taylor was.
03:04Yes, it's very real.
03:07Jamar Chase forgot Zach Taylor, and it's proof that you get lost in the sauce a little bit on draft night.
03:13Jamar was at the draft.
03:14Shamar was at the draft.
03:16This is what Jamar had to say nearly five years ago, well, four years ago, when he was drafted.
03:22What have been your early impressions on Zach Taylor?
03:26Zach Taylor?
03:28Dad, coach.
03:30Messing with you, my guy.
03:32But yeah, he called me earlier, you know, telling me, you know, we're excited to have you.
03:38And he was talking about, you know, building that chemistry back up with Joe.
03:42So, I mean, I'm ready.
03:44You know, I told him I can't wait to put on a show.
03:46Let's do it, coach.
03:48Zach Taylor?
03:50That's one of my favorites.
03:51That's one of my favorites.
03:52Zach Taylor?
03:55Zach Taylor?
03:56The coach, Charlie Goldsmith.
03:59What a question.
04:00I love that moment.
04:01The point is, there's a lot going on in the draft.
04:04And Shamar was in Green Bay, and he was there in the conference room right after getting
04:10drafted.
04:11And yeah, you might not recall a 15-minute meeting in Indianapolis two months ago at that
04:16very moment.
04:17Just like Jamar Chase, who knew that whole day he was going to the Bengals, didn't remember
04:22the head coach's name.
04:24It's not a big deal.
04:25We're going to hear from Shamar Stewart today.
04:27I just figured I would share that because I was thinking about it.
04:29The more I thought about Shamar, I thought about Jamar.

05:00We're going to hear from that.
05:01They'll be very much Продолж.
