00:00Pakistan officials say its forces have exchanged fire with Indian troops across the line of
00:05control in the Kashmir region.
00:08This comes as Indian police and soldiers conduct a manhunt for three suspects, one Indian and
00:14two Pakistani nationals, following the attack on the tourist town of Palagam on Tuesday
00:20that killed 26 people, the majority of them Indian tourists.
00:24The United Nations has urged maximum restraint from both sides.
00:30Our India correspondent Ravinder Bauer says public anger over the attacks is high.
00:36Well, many trade unions here have called for a shutdown in Delhi and we saw several markets
00:43were closed and this was to show their solidarity with the families who have lost their loved
00:50ones in this dastardly attack.
00:53There is also a situation where we have seen nationwide protests which are going on across
00:59the country to condemn these attacks and this is the part of that.
01:03In the meantime, what we are seeing in Jammu and Kashmir that the situation continues to
01:07be sensitive and tense and looking at the sensitivity of the situation, the border has been closed
01:15even though India has said that there are Pakistani elements who were involved in this attack.
01:21Islamabad has denied any claims and what we are seeing right now is that the review of the situation
01:28is being done.
01:29The Home Minister has called all the chief ministers of various states to tell them to look out for,
01:34identify all the Pakistanis and send them back home because all the visas have been revoked,
01:39including the SARC visa exemption.
01:42So that is what is happening on the Home Minister's front.
01:45In the meantime, police is active and they have released the sketches of these attackers
01:49and a hunt is down to track them.
01:52The forests are quite dense in Jammu and Kashmir and those forests are being combed by the security
01:59personnel.
02:00The security at the borders have been escalated, the troops are on high alert and vigil at the
02:06border along the line of control which divides and separates the two countries is at an all
02:11time high.
02:13This morning there was a report in the AFP, the news agency saying they were firing across
02:18the line of control earlier by the troops of both the sides so that although the government
02:24has not really confirmed that, as we saw in the past that both the countries have shown
02:28their strength but a full scale war is not something which we saw after the Kargil war.
02:33So we will really have to wait and watch us to see how the two sides are responding to each
02:38other's threats.
