00:00Hi there, it's John Blow from the Yorkshire Post here. I'm going to take you through some of the things coming up in the week ahead.
00:05The outcome of the local and mayoral elections in Yorkshire and beyond will be seen as a big test of the public's feelings about Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
00:13Elections are taking place with 23 councils across England, including Doncaster on Thursday,
00:19while mayoral contests are also happening for the first time in Hull and East Yorkshire and Greater Lincolnshire after the creation of their combined authorities.
00:27Meanwhile, the Catholic Church and its followers will this week continue nine days of official mourning, which began at the Pope's funeral on Saturday.
00:35The process of deciding on the next pope is likely to begin next week, as the secret meeting of cardinals, known as the Conclave, usually starts between 15 and 20 days after a pope's death.
00:46Elsewhere, right astride, a festival of walks, talks and music will take place along the Settle-Carlisle railway line in the Yorkshire Dales,
00:53and artists in South Yorkshire will let visitors into their homes and workspaces when the first of two Open Up Sheffield events takes place at the weekend.
