00:00Armchair quarterback on a football Friday on the Sports Grid Network.
00:03What month is this, Joe? Is this October, November, December? No.
00:07It's in the month of April, and we are enjoying ourselves because the NFL draft completed round number one.
00:12Down to the right side, Joe Ranieri breaking it all down, which includes, once again,
00:15Cam Ward number one overall to the Tennessee Titans.
00:19I don't think it was too much of a surprise, but over the past couple months, Joe, we saw a lot of movement.
00:24It was neck and neck for the number one pick, at least the odds market at FanDuel.
00:27Would it be Cam Ward? Would it be Shador Sanders?
00:30We'll get to Shador Sanders in just a few moments, but in your eyes,
00:34why was the race so close at the end of the season for college football,
00:37and why was the race over two to three weeks into it, where as a parent,
00:42Cam Ward was going to be that number one overall pick?
00:45It's amazing when the ebbs and flows of the hype this year, was it not?
00:50I mean, we were talking at certain points over the last year on how Colorado
00:54had two of the top three picks in the draft that it was, forget about it.
01:00They were going to be, these two guys were going to be buddies.
01:03They were going to be in the top five of the draft, and then all of a sudden,
01:07we stopped hearing about Shador and then Cam Ward throwing for 500 yards a game.
01:12And listen, Tennessee, we all knew Tennessee needs a quarterback, and Cam Ward is the best.
01:18He's got the best arm strength. He's got the best playmaking ability.
01:23But the problem with him is he tries to do too much, but that can be coached.
01:28And so Cam Ward, to me, was the only option for Tennessee.
01:31Some, oh, we were going to trade out.
01:34If you need a quarterback and you have the number one pick in the draft,
01:37you go get the best quarterback in that draft.
01:39That's exactly what Tennessee did.
01:41That's exactly what Tennessee did.
