00:09Convicted Murderer Traced by Edinburgh Police
00:12Police in Edinburgh have detained a convicted murderer following a two-day search.
00:17On Tuesday officers launched an appeal to trace Raymond McCourt, 59,
00:21after he failed to return to HMP Castle Huntley where he is serving his sentence.
00:26Raymond McCourt was detained by police in Edinburgh this morning,
00:28Friday April 25th on London Road and will now be returned to prison.
00:33It comes after McCourt was reported missing to police around 5.30pm on Tuesday April,
00:3822 when he did not return to the open prison.
00:41Police later shared CCTV images of the 59-year-old and warned the public not to approach him.
00:49Edinburgh Council overpaid staff £1.78 million with new pay policy being considered.
00:54Edinburgh Council has overpaid staff to the tune of £1,780,000 over what is believed to be five years,
01:02with councillors being asked to write off almost £140,000 in unrecovered overpayments
01:08and implement changes to reduce the burden of overpayments on staff.
01:12In a report to councillors, officers said 1,459 staff members had been overpaid in that time,
01:19579 of them being current staff, while 880 had already left the council.
01:27Edinburgh councillors are now set to consider a new pay policy,
01:30which would aim to make repaying overpaid wages less burdensome.
