00:12The scheme from BMET Limited to convert Crite Quarry into the Amber Rock Resort, complete with water park, hotel and hundreds of apartments, was rejected by Derbyshire County Council in September after five years of to and fro.
00:25After the meeting, the developer had committed to promptly submitting a vigorous appeal against the decision, but has now chosen not to do so, and the deadline for the appeal has passed.

01:08The group of volunteers who have led the reopening of the viaduct itself as a walkway and cycleway are now looking to further improve access to the site.
01:16The timber bridge would allow visitors to appreciate local birds and wildlife, as well as the latticework of the viaduct itself.
