00:00It's the first time the newly renovated parade ground here at the Australian War Memorial
00:06has been used for an Anzac Day since the site's multi-million dollar upgrade began.
00:11And it attracted big crowds with thousands turning out for the National Commemorative
00:15Service while tens of thousands packed in for the Dawn Service where Prime Minister
00:20Anthony Albanese used the Anzac dedication to reflect on sacrifices of the past and the
00:26dangers of the present.
00:28As the dawn is even now about to pierce the night so let their memory inspire us to work
00:35for the coming new light into the dark places of the world.
00:40The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commemorative ceremony later in the morning was attended
00:44by a smaller crowd but for Indigenous veterans they say it was an important moment to reflect
00:49on the sacrifices made for Australia overseas by servicemen and women who faced discrimination
00:55back home.
