Trump blasted a reporter who questioned his claims about ongoing U.S.-China trade talks. Trump dismissed China's statement denying any dialogue, saying, "We've been meeting with China. As usual, you've got your reporting wrong." The outburst comes as tensions rise over tariffs, tech, and global supply chains — with Trump hinting at backchannel negotiations that could reshape U.S.-China relations.

00:00Well, they had a meeting this morning, so I can't tell you, it doesn't matter who they is.
00:04I think you have your reporting room.
00:07Can you clarify with whom the U.S. is speaking with China?
00:10They're saying it's fake news that trade talks are happening.
00:13Well, they had a meeting this morning, so I can't tell you, it doesn't matter who they is.
00:19We may reveal it later, but they had meetings this morning, and we've been meeting with China.
00:25And so I think you have, Jeff, as usual, I think you have your reporting room.
00:30Thank you very much.
00:31It's a real honor to have the highly respected, the great prime minister of the Kingdom of Norway with us today,
00:38who, as you know, has been doing a fantastic job and truly respected throughout the world as a leader.
00:46And thank you very much for being here.
00:48We appreciate it.
00:49And we're going to be having a meeting in the Oval Office in a little while,
00:55where you'll be invited back and you can ask some questions.
00:57It's also a pleasure to have my friend who did such a good job at NATO, my great friend, right?
01:04So you really did.
01:07We started off, they had no money, and they ended up having a lot of money.
01:12After we said, you've got to pay, you've got to pay up.
01:14But you did a fantastic job, and thank you very much.
01:17And I'm glad you're here.
01:19I'm glad we meet each other again under these circumstances.
01:23So we'll be meeting in a little while at the Oval Office.
01:27And if you have maybe one or two questions, we'll do it now.
01:30And after that, we'll go to...
01:34So we are thinking that very strongly that they both want peace.
01:39But they have to get to the table.
01:41We're waiting a long time.
01:42They have to get them to the table.
01:44And I think we're going to get peace.
01:46We want to save 5,000 young people.
01:48I used to say 2,500.
01:51I used to say 5,000.
01:52And we have, Mr. Prime Minister, we have about 5,000 young people a week
01:58that are dying in that ridiculous war.
02:02And, you know, I started out because I didn't like all the money that we were paying.
02:06And then I realized how many people were dying.
02:09And that's by far the more important element right now.
02:12I'm saying we can save thousands of people.
02:15And I don't like that it takes long at all.
02:18But I think they both want to make peace.
02:20I do believe so.
02:22There's a lot of hatred there.
02:23There's a lot of very bad blood.
02:25A lot of distrust.
02:27But I think we're going to...
02:27I hope we're going to get there.
02:29For the sake of a lot of young people that are dying.
02:32Just keep doing what they're doing.
02:33We have a very good relationship with Norway.
02:37Great leader.
02:38Great people.
02:39I know many of the people in Norway.
02:41And it's truly...
02:42It's an incredible country.
02:44So all they have to do is keep doing what they're doing.
02:47I think it's probably the best answer I can give.
02:49Well, it's a very interesting question.
02:52It's certainly very important for Europe.
02:53And I think without us, it wouldn't be nearly as powerful.
02:57And as the former Secretary General, who did a great job, can tell you, we played...
03:05I played, when I was there, a very big role in making sure that NATO is funded by the 28...
03:13At that time, they had 28 countries, including us, because many of the countries weren't paid.
03:17And they ended up being paid, you would say.
03:21And the Secretary General was very nice about it, as far as I was concerned.
03:28Other presidents went in.
03:29They made a speech and they left.
03:31And that kept going on.
03:32And, you know, in the meantime, they had no money.
03:35And the United States was paying far more than its fair share.
03:38You could say that they were paying...
03:40I actually said sometimes it looked like 100%.
03:43And it was unfair.
03:45And the two of us worked very well together.
03:49And we took care of the situation.
