00:00Pete Davidson is realizing the cost of cleaning up his look.
00:04A Saturday Night Live alum reveals in an interview with Variety April 23rd
00:08that he so far dropped six figures on lasering off his ink collection,
00:13which at one point boasted 200 different designs.
00:16He says, quote,
00:17It's a pretty uncomfortable amount of money to disclose.
00:19I've already spent like $200,000 and I'm like 30% done.
00:23So like, it's gonna suck.
00:25And the 31-year-old is likely going to be spending more in the next decade.
00:30He continues, quote,
00:31I started during COVID in 2020 and it's gonna take me another 10 years.
00:35My arms are pretty much done and my hands and neck are gone,
00:38but I still have to do my torso and back.
00:41As for the removal procedure, he says, quote,
00:43I have to plan it in between work because it's a six-week healing process
00:47each time you get one removed.
00:49Each tattoo is 10 to 12 sessions.
00:51That's 60 weeks of your life right there on just one tattoo to remove.
00:55So it's pretty horrible.
00:57As for why he's doing it,
00:58Pete, who sought treatment for mental health and addiction struggles in recent years,
01:03explains, quote,
01:04I used to be a drug addict and I was a sad person and I felt ugly and that I needed to be covered up.
01:09And I don't think there's anything wrong with tattoos,
01:11but mine, when I look at them,
01:13I remember a sad person that was very unsure.
01:16For the comedian, getting rid of his tattoos is a way of starting fresh.
01:19He says, quote,
01:20when I look in the mirror,
01:21I don't want the reminder of,
01:23oh yeah,
01:23you were a f***ing drug addict.
01:25Like,
01:25that's why you have a Spongebob smoking a joint on your back.
01:29They should have meaning.
