00:08The Nation Cannot Succumb.
00:11The crisis in Haiti has reached a critical point.
00:14The United Nations has admitted that a large part of the territory is under the control of armed gangs.
00:19And without urgent international intervention, the Haitian state could collapse permanently.
00:24This chaos represents a direct threat to the Dominican Republic,
00:28forcing the government to take firm measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability.
00:34Faced with the risk of mass migration and the possible spread of violence toward our territory,
00:40the Dominican government has no choice but to intensify the repatriation of undocumented Haitians
00:46and restrict their access to public services.
00:49These actions, although harsh, are necessary to prevent the country from succumbing to a crisis it did not create.
00:56The situation is so serious that, if it worsens, a total closure of the border could be inevitable.
01:02While the international community debates solutions, our priority must be to protect the population and the territory.
01:09As President Abinader stated during his border tour,
01:12No irregular immigrants can pass through.
01:15This is a matter of national security.
01:17Haiti is sinking into chaos, but the Dominican Republic cannot be its escape valve.
01:22The measures adopted are not without cost.
01:25They are the response to an emergency that demands firmness to safeguard the future of our nation.
