00:00Just looking at how the season has been, obviously a lot of things are coming to UCSK as well.
00:08Where is UCSK going forward?
00:12Do you still stick to the same thing or do you want to be a different CSK channel?
00:21Do you think it's a good thing to try to solve it?
00:25I missed the first part of the question you were talking about, the first part of it?
00:30I just asked you about, you spoke in the past about a lot of young Indian players going hammer-and-talks from the word go which is concerning you told in the previous game.
00:41So given in the context a couple of youngsters like Mathre has come in, Sheikh Rashid is here.
00:47So how do you try to manage them as well going forward?
00:53Young players, you look to identify them first but the other thing I'll get you to look at is the top 20 run scorers this year for the IPL.
01:07And just tell me how many of the young guys are in that top 20, I think there's one, maybe two.
01:12So just temper it a little bit, I'm a big fan, I always have been of the skill set.
01:17We have often gone a different way with experience.
01:22And again if you look at the experience of that group of 20 that are top run scoring at the moment, it is quite substantial.
01:29We're at an interesting point where we've had a really strong core group of Indian players and we've added to that over the last few years with the likes of Raidu and Rahane.
01:42We've always looked for a little bit of experience but we haven't been neglecting youth.
01:47Mahatray had an opportunity in the last game and he looked very good and that excites us as we, I guess, have one eye to the future.
01:57But it's a balance, it's not all about youth, it's not all about guys being too old.
02:03It's somewhere in the middle where you get a mix of experience and you also get players who are fearless.
02:09You've just got to make sure that the right temperament is in the player and I'm not worried about how old they are.
02:15It just seems that the IPL is bossed a little bit more by players who have a bit more experience and can navigate more situations than perhaps a young player who plays just one way.
02:26But I am very aware of the talent that is coming through and very aware of the fearless nature in which they are playing and that has been the case for the last two or three years.
02:36Yeah.
02:37Hey coach.
02:38Hey.
02:39Jadija batting up the order means he'll face different types of bowling.
02:45When he was a finisher he faced fast bowling and he did well against that.
02:48Now that he's up the order he faces a bit more spin.
02:51So his strengths against spin according to you and if there's any room for improvement for him playing spin.
02:59Yeah there's a lot of room for improvement in our view and it's a little bit of opportunity.
03:04I know in the past that he's done it for a couple of games but he hasn't had a big run at it and it's more attitude towards it.
03:13So we're exploring a lot of things at the moment to see whether there are gains within the side with one view on trying to win every game remaining in the IPL but also on the future.
03:23So we think there are areas that we can explore with our players where they haven't perhaps conquered it in the past and just trying to change some attitudes around that.
03:33Yeah I mean after the last game both yourself and AM has said that you know we'll try and might try to make it to the playoffs.
03:41It's not possible.
03:42We'll work out and build a team for the next season.
03:45We'll give some chance to the youngsters last game and throw them pretty well.
03:48Will the focus be more on youth maybe next season release some older players and get them some young blood.
03:54Crush young blood.
03:55Is it going to be a template?
03:57Well we're still hopeful of winning six out of six and some will giggle at that but RCB set a blueprint for that the year before.
04:07So while there's still a chance we have one eye making sure that we think the best players for this game coming up will play.
04:15But we're also aware that if it doesn't work out that we've got to make the most of what has been a poor season.
04:22And the work we did a couple of times we were in this position in the past set us up I think to win the title the following year.
04:29So we're certainly aware of what needs to be done and how we can go about it.
04:36And when that time comes we will make sure there is no stone left unturned to getting things right.
04:42There won't be a wasted game or an opportunity in the next few weeks and the players know that as well.
04:47And that creates opportunity and creates a bit of competition within.
04:52But yeah we won't let any time go to waste.
04:55Coach, to get more runs there is any plan to promote Sri William Dubai to the top?
05:02He has a specific role.
05:05Our major problem has been possibly the run production at the top.
05:09So that means when that happens it just puts players into a different role or a different mindset and a different position.
05:16I think if you look at the top teams at the moment the top three batters are dominating the games and then everything else falls into place.
05:23So we need to run production from the top to go well.
05:27And that will then put players in the right position to be able to perform their role that they've been designed for.
05:34And enable us to then capitalise on the strengths that some of our players have.
05:39Dubé is playing a number of roles.
05:41He's holding the innings together and finishing games.
05:45Where in the past he's been an impactful player that's come out and changed the game by his dominance in the middle.
05:50So there's been a bit of a shift in some of it through the necessity to stay in the game.
05:56Hi Coach.
05:57Hi.
05:58Middle order struggling to score big numbers.
06:00Who's that mean?
06:01Middle order struggling to score big numbers.
06:04What is the reason behind that?
06:06Middle order.
06:07Middle order.
06:08And top.
06:11Yep.
06:12Not sure.
06:13It's a lot of things.
06:14There's a lot of players involved who are trying to do their best but perhaps down a little bit of confidence.
06:19And just having the IPL can be brutal.
06:23And we just haven't got players that have got past sort of good starts.
06:27So we've had a lot of innings with 20s and 30s where we're desperately trying to get up into the 75 plus.
06:34And when we get that, then that means that all the positions of the batting unit go in at the right spot.
06:41So starting from the top three down, I don't think we've had a, in terms of our honours board, we haven't had an induction this year which is a sign that we've been below where we need to be.
06:53Hi Coach.
06:54Hey.
06:55Deval Brevis recently joined the team.
06:57What about him?
06:58Can we expert him tomorrow?
06:59In Levin?
07:00I missed it.
07:01Sorry about that.
07:02Deval Brevis recently joined with the team.
07:04Oh, Brevis.
07:05Yep.
07:06So what about, can we expert him in Levin tomorrow?
07:09Here's one of the options that we'll look at.
07:12We've got other players as well that have been with us for the whole tournament.
07:15Brevis is a good addition to the squad.
07:18But we just have to manage what we think will be the best team given the players that have been working away with us.
07:24And also look at the impact that Brevis can have.
07:27So that's part of the discussion.
07:30Thanks.
