00:00Witnesses are recounting some of the drama that unfolded on the Sunshine Coast this afternoon.

00:06Two sisters have told how their mother and man raced to help

00:09when the carjacked SUV rolled on Steve Irwin Way

00:13only to find the gun-wielding car thief emerging from the wreck.

00:17Here's some of what they had to say.

00:20And one guy, he was up there with our mum

00:23and he went up there and he was coming back down towards us

00:29and he goes, run, he's got a gun.

00:33And our heart started to pound and I said, well, mum, where's mum?

00:38And poor mum was stuck up there, but apparently our brave mum,

00:43she goes, are you all right?

00:45Because he had all blood all over his face.

00:48And he goes, I'll shoot you.

00:51She goes, hey, I'm here to help.

00:53And mum distracted him to make him look the other way

00:57and he looked the other way and mum ran into the bush behind the fence.

01:04And the guy goes to her, I'll find you and I'll shoot you.

01:08All I was thinking about when we were running, I hope he doesn't fire.

01:14Yeah, we were so blessed.

01:16How close to him do you think you were?

01:19Well, see, he was up there.

01:20Yeah, and we were past our drive, drive way.

01:23Yeah, yeah.

01:24You don't think of all of that at the time.
