Transcript
00:00The aggressive determination of hippies to start a new society has made its mark upon San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury.
00:11Part of the neighborhood is occupied by ordinary people, bewildered by what's going on.
00:15Part of it is occupied by a growing population of hippies.
00:19There are many other similar houses or apartments in Haight-Ashbury,
00:23maintained by hippies who work in places where employers do not mind bizarre dress or long hair.
00:29Their concept of a new style of life unites them,
00:32and that concept is, in most cases, drawn from the drug experience.
00:36This is the house of a popular local band which plays hard rock music.
00:41They call themselves the Grateful Dead.
00:44What we're thinking about as a peaceful planet, we're not thinking about anything else.
00:48We're not thinking about any kind of power. We're not thinking about revolution or war or any of that.
00:52That's not what we want.
00:54Most of these people are young.
00:55On the average, they are well-educated, or could be if they wanted to.
01:01There is the real danger that more and more young people may follow the call to
01:04turn on, tune in, drop out.
01:17Lead for your busy space, listen to me.
01:19Turn to wind.
01:20Tell you again, man.
01:22When you disappear from someone MILLER
01:24Enjoy your view.
01:25You are in a dream.
01:27In a dream.
01:29That's what I want to fly.
01:30This is the new stage for you to bring us all over again.
