00:00The Toronto-Ottawa game was old school.
00:03Stole ours went Billy Smith style.
00:06People are debating, you know, furiously right now
00:11whether a penalty should have been called.
00:14Listen, that's the way that it used to be in the old days.
00:16If you wanted to stand in the crease in front of the net,
00:18you had to pay a price for it.
00:20Remember Tim Kerr of the Philadelphia Flyers?
00:23He used to be a big dude in front of the net,
00:25and he used to just get, like, cross-checked,
00:27murdered in front of the net.
00:29Billy Smith, of course, New York Islander, great goaltender,
00:33kind of known as, you know, people talk about Ron Hextall,
00:35but Billy Smith set the stand.
00:37He was a butcher.
00:38Yeah, Smith, yeah, Billy the Butcher, exactly.
00:40I was a goalie when I was a kid too, Scott, and when I played hockey.
00:45And I learned from Billy Smith as well.
00:48You know, so I loved seeing that last night from Stole ours.
00:51And basically you take the blade of your stick too,
00:54and you get them right in the calf, Scott.
00:57Scott, there's no protection on the calf.
00:59There's no, like, hockey players don't have protection in the calf area,
01:02basically.
01:03A little bit of padding now in the modern era, but the old days.
01:06I used to actually practice in my backyard, Scott,
01:09hitting the blade of the stick against a tree.
01:13You know what I mean?
01:14Like, I would practice slashing people.
01:16So watching Stole ours do that last night, I was like,
01:19whoa, this is old school stuff.
01:21At the same point in time, hey, they should be allowed to run them as well.
01:24But the Battle of Ontario is getting physical, man.
01:28They were playing some serious old school hockey last night.
01:31It'll be fun in game three in Ottawa.
01:33And I was shocked as well, like you, Scott,
01:37that the Tampa Bay Lightning got punched in the mouth like they did
01:41by the Florida Panthers.
01:42Man, this Panther team just dials it up to another level,
01:45and it's hard to keep up with them.
01:47Tampa better win game two.
01:49Otherwise, they're in a lot of trouble.
01:50I mean, they just stomped them and scored six goals
01:56and did whatever they wanted.
01:58And I got to tell you, I've heard everyone, you, me, everyone,
02:03you name it, Carver, they played too much hockey for three years.
02:08Bro, they looked like the champs last night.
02:12They came out and looked like, hey, watch what we can do
02:14when we want to do it.
02:15And, you know what, they have played a lot of hockey, Scott,
02:19but Chuck hasn't played in forever, right?
02:21So he shows up, right?
02:23He's been rested.
02:24So it actually was almost like a blessing in disguise for them.
02:28You know, though, you look at game one, Scott,
02:30of the Kings and the Oilers, and it was a similar situation, right?
02:34The Kings, and although it was, you know, on their home ice,
02:38the Kings ambushed the Oilers early, and it was like, dear God,
02:41this is insane, we're getting murdered, and the Oilers fought back.
02:46They got some momentum back.
02:47So we'll sort of see if that carries over into tonight.
02:51Tampa never got any momentum back, Scott.
02:53You know what I mean, like a football game?
02:55It's like, you know what I mean, you'll see it, like, yeah, okay,
02:57you know, you'll wonder why they're leaving the starters in.
02:59They're losing 34-0.
03:01It's like, listen, man, they got to get a touchdown.
03:03They got to get something going to get into the practice,
03:06to go into next week.
03:07The Oilers nearly won the freaking game.
03:09So there's a difference to me where the Oilers aren't going to be thinking,
03:13yeah, we got murdered in game one, like, what the hell happened?
03:17It's sort of like, yeah, we had a bad start, but everything, you know,
03:19we can beat these guys.
03:22Tampa's lost in the first round three years in a row, man.
03:24Like, at some point, you can't just talk about it.
03:26You got to do it.
03:27But it's one game, Scott, but, man, the Panthers are good.
03:30They're just that good.
03:32I got to tip my cap to them.
03:34Yeah, and, you know, Reinhardt and Bennett,
03:36they had so many different guys, big guys, big-name guys, you know,
03:42producing and doing their thing.
03:44It really was unbelievable.
03:46And I thought, obviously, I thought Vasilevsky looked terrible.
03:50I've never seen him look that bad in a hockey game in my life, ever.
03:54You know, it's going to happen.
03:56Man, and it sounds cliche, but it really doesn't matter if you lose 7-1
04:02or you lose 1-0 or if you win, right?
04:05You know, the L.A. Kings, you know, some people are thinking it's a negative
04:08that somehow they let the Oilers off the hook and they got the Oilers' momentum.
04:12They won the game, right?
04:13You blew the lead, yeah, but we ended up winning the game.
04:15When it's all said and done, they don't ask how.
04:18It's just how many games did you win in the series.
04:19So, one game at a time, but there's – you know, it gets harder to win
04:25as games go on in the playoffs, right?
04:27You know, like they always say the hardest game to win is the last game.
04:29And when you have to win, it's harder.
