00:01Manchester United are working on a deal to sign Matthias Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window.
00:08Ruben Amarin has made it a priority to add both a striker and an attacking midfielder to the United squad this summer.
00:15He wants to add more goals to a team that have really struggled for them.
00:19Wolves, for instance, have scored 10 more goals than Manchester United this season, even though they are below them in the Premier League table.
00:26And Manchester United need to find a way to climb that table. They need to find a way to put teams to bed.
00:31Cunha is a player with 14 goals himself in the Premier League this season. United's top goal scorer in the league is Bruno Fernandes with eight.
00:40Cunha will be available for £62.5 million due to a release clause that was worked into his Wolves contract when he signed a new deal back in January.
00:49The Brazilian insisted that a release clause was inserted into those contract renewals just because he wanted to protect his future, really.
00:57And United know the price they have to pay. It's basically a straightforward summer that they know if they spend £92.5 million,
01:04they could sign Cunha for £62.5 million and Liam de Lappe, who is their preferred striker target from Ipswich Town,
01:10he has a £30 million relegation release clause in his contract.
01:16But the problem is there's a lot of interest in them. United had to pay above Joshua Zerksy's release clause last summer to secure his signature from Bologna.
01:27It's not out of the question that United would maybe have to do the same, certainly in the case of de Lappe, given there is so much interest in his signature.
01:34But a move for Cunha is said to appeal to the player. It's a move that United feel rather confident of being able to complete.
01:40Wolves would like as much of the fee paid up front, but United believe that there'll be a way to pay it in instalments.
01:48He knows it won't be such a massive financial output from them initially.
01:53And another key way is player sales. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony could all be sold this summer.
01:59Throw into the mix that Casemiro could still go.
02:02Victor Lindelof, Ericsson, Tom Heaton and Johnny Evans will all leave as free agents as well.
02:06And United should be able to raise the funds to sign both Cunha and Liam de Lappe, regardless of whether they are in the Champions League or not next season.
02:16So things are moving quickly at Manchester United. They want to get their business done as early as possible.
02:21Cunha and de Lappe both have Premier League experience as well.
02:24They are proven in the English top flight and that is seen as a key attribute for future United recruits.
02:29So they will obviously still sign some players from abroad and overseas, but it's seen as a real advantage if a player has already proven themselves in the Premier League.
02:38De Lappe and Cunha have both done that. They could both do it at Old Trafford next season.
