00:00Hi, it's DHA's Rock and Rough, and I am Terri Carr. I'm here with my great friend, who I've learned so much about animal rescue from, Meredith Petrillo from the Denville Animal Shelter. Meredith brought Itty Bitty. Now, I saw Itty on your page, and I said, Mer, do you have any dogs? And you said, well, we have Itty Bitty, but she's got some special needs. You can probably hear her honking a little bit. I think it makes her very unique, actually. And I said, bring Itty Bitty down, because yes, she has some special needs, but maybe she's got some special needs.
00:30And she is such a great dog. She has the most beautiful temperament and personality. She's just a Velcro dog. She loves people. Tell us a little bit about Itty and the unique quality that we are hearing coming out of her little muzzle there.
00:44All right, Itty was found in the woods in Denville, and she came in making this noise. She has a collapsed trachea. That could have been through injury or through birth. We don't know. She's being evaluated for that condition.
01:01She does sound like a goose. Some people will say, are you walking a pig? No, I'm not walking a pig, and I don't have a goose. This is Itty. She's very affectionate. She cannot have any sort of collars around her neck. So we have to guide people in regards to what type of environment she should be going to.
01:22Yeah. Let's check out Itty Bitty, interacting with our staff on DHA's Rock and Rough.
01:26Meet Itty Bitty from the Denville Animal Shelter. Itty has a sad story, as she was likely dumped in a local Morris County park.
01:34Itty was following someone who was walking their dog in a take-me-home kind of way.
01:39Itty has the best personality. She is so sweet, and she absolutely loves people.
01:45Now, Itty Bitty is a special needs pup, as she has a collapsed trachea and is currently being evaluated locally to find her best course of treatment, if any.
01:54She makes a very interesting honking noise, which makes her incredibly special and very unique.
02:01Nothing gets Itty Bitty down, and we would love to find her a home.
02:04She's still a young dog at only two years old, and she loves being by your side.
02:09Itty seems fine with other dogs and is looking for a calm household to hang her hat.
02:14Looking for a really super sweet dog that, even with some special challenges, will make the best companion?
02:20Then Itty Bitty might be the dog for you.
02:23Reach out to the Denville Animal Shelter and find out more about this incredible girl.
02:28Adopt Itty Bitty.
02:29She's a great dog. If you meet her, you will fall in love.
02:32Like a nice, calm household for her. She's only two, so she's not like a senior dog or anything,
02:37but a nice, calm household where she can kind of hang her hat and hang out with her people.
02:41I will tell you, definitely a Velcro dog, bonds with people very quickly.
02:45She's definitely bonded to Meredith's side, because I think the suspicion, and if I'm wrong, you can correct me,
02:51I think the suspicion is probably she was dumped in the woods, and she's probably waiting for her people,
02:56and it feels like she's going to get dumped again.
02:58I believe that's the case.
03:00We don't have many animals, knock on wood, dumped in Denville, okay?
03:05It's not something that Denville residents do, nor would I expect them to do it.
03:10So somebody obviously felt that this was a good place to leave this dog in the woods and left her,
03:17and unfortunately, she decided to take advantage of that.
03:25Tell me, you're over there. She's relaxing on the couch, as she should be.
03:28She's getting the lay of the land, and you know what the sad part is, too?
03:31Meredith was telling me earlier that I said, well, how was she found?
03:34Was she just like cruising through the woods?
03:36You said people were walking their dog, and she was just kind of following them,
03:39almost like in a take-me-with-you sort of situation, which is incredibly heartbreaking.
03:45So Meredith, you're always great with having people come in.
03:48Look, Meredith has hooked me up with two pups.
03:51She's so awesome with, come on in, meet the dogs.
03:54Let's make sure this dog is a good fit for you.
03:56If people would like to meet this dog, if somebody says, you know what?
04:00I think we'd be a good home for itty-bitty.
04:02Oh, and she's licking my toes, too. I love that.
04:05My feet are clean, by the way.
04:06How can people reach out to you?
04:08Do they just stop by the shelter?
04:10Give us the 411 here.
04:11Yeah, I can't have people just stop by because I'm only one person,
04:14so making an appointment would be advisable.
04:17You can reach me through the Denville Police Department at 973-627-4900, extension 5.
04:24We have a nice Facebook page called Friends of the Denville Animal Shelter.
04:27You leave me a message, so we can make an appointment.
04:30Or if you do drive by and see my truck, stop in and say hello and meet itty-bitty.
04:35The woman who hooked me up with Rosie Carr, by the way, too.
04:37So, yeah, I owe you a debt of gratitude for eight years of fun with my whole lot of Rosie.
04:44And we hope itty-bitty gets into a home.
04:46She's just a really sweet dog.
04:48She's so pretty, too.
04:50She has beautiful little white teeth.
04:52I just love, love, love her.
04:54And a dog like this definitely deserves a second chance at a family who's going to love her and care for her the way she should be cared for.
05:01For DHA's Rock and Rough, by the way, is being powered by all of my great friends at Hometown Pet Shop, three Jersey locations, Morris Plains, Pompton Lakes, and the West Caldwell location, and everybody at Dover Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram on Route 46 in Rockaway.
05:16For DHA's Rock and Rough, I am Terry Carr, as always reminding you to opt to adopt.
05:20And, Tom, show itty-bitty, she's just cruising around saying, like, wow, this place is cool.
05:25There's people and toys and I love her.
