00:11All right, we've got Kimberly on the phone this morning for First Responder Friday.
00:15Good morning, Kimberly. How are you?
00:16I'm good. Good morning, you guys.
00:18Well, we appreciate you reaching out, and we get to honor someone that's very close to you,
00:21one of your good friends, Megan, right?
00:23Yes.
00:23Tell us how Megan serves our community as a First Responder.
00:26Yeah, she has been an EMT with Sunstar for almost three years now, working the night shift,
00:34and she just graduated to become a paramedic.
00:38Nice.
00:39So now she's only a few short credits away from her associate's degree in emergency and medical services.
00:45So she's been putting herself through school at SPC all while working full-time, so we're so proud of her.
00:53Wow, wow. What county does she work in? Pinellas or Hillsborough or...?
00:57Pinellas County, yes.
00:58Nice. Oh, very cool.
01:00Let me ask you this. Is being a paramedic, is that the final goal, or does she have aspirations to go even further in the medical field?
01:06Yeah, maybe. You know, her brother, her older brother, was born with multiple disabilities,
01:12so seeing how first responders and medical professionals were always there to treat him very carefully and professionally
01:19made her want to go into the medical field as her future career.
01:23Wow.
01:24So this has always been her plan, even since out of high school.
01:27Oh, wow. Is that how you guys know each other through high school?
01:29No, we actually met in a local Jeep club.
01:32Oh!
01:33Yeah, we both have Jeeps, and we like to go off-roading, so that's how we met.
01:36Oh, that's so cool. I love that.
01:39And a good person to go off-roading with, by the way, an EMT.
01:44Exactly. And she's just the kind of person that I would want to hope would arrive on scene if I ever needed help.
01:50And she always treats her patients just with utmost respect and dignity.
01:55Aw.
01:55And she's such a fun person. Like, her and her boyfriend, they ride around in their ambulance with, like, an inflatable Grinch at Christmas time.
02:04That's awesome.
02:05And they wear Christmas light necklaces. You know, they just, they really have a lot of fun at work,
02:11and it really shines through in both of their personalities.
02:14Aw.
02:15Well, I love hearing that about your friend. It sounds like you're so proud of your friend,
02:20and she takes her job so seriously and finds the fun in it,
02:24and the inspiration behind wanting to go into this field with her brother and everything
02:28just sounds like a remarkable person in Megan.
02:31And we want to do this for Megan.
