00:00Tampa Bay's Morning Crew want to honor and thank those who protect and serve our country.
00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.
00:10All right, it is Military Monday. We've got Janet on the phone this morning.
00:14Good morning, Janet. How you doing?
00:15Good morning. I'm doing fine. How are you?
00:18Well, we are absolutely honored, actually, that we get to honor your brother, Bobby.
00:22So tell us about Bobby. What branch did he serve in and where did he serve?
00:26He served in the Army, and he served from March 1971 to February 1974 stationed in Germany.
00:35Okay. And what did he do in the Army?
00:37Well, he chauffeured various generals around, one being General Alexander Haig,
00:42who later became United States Secretary of State under President Reagan.
00:47Wow.
00:47That's pretty cool.
00:48That looks good on the resume.
00:50Mm-hmm.
00:51Janet, now when you think back to you and your brother growing up,
00:54is this something that you said, oh, Bobby for sure is going into the military?
00:58I mean, do you have multiple siblings?
01:00I do. There's nine of us, actually.
01:01Okay, nine of them. So how many went into the military? Just Bobby or more?
01:05More. I had a brother in the Navy, Raymond.
01:08Okay.
01:08And my dad was military as well.
01:11But you knew from the get-go that Bobby definitely was going to be serving?
01:14I did, yes.
01:15Now, after his service, what did he do?
01:17Okay. He basically had a passion for cars and motorcycles.
01:21So he, you know, worked as a mechanic for a periodical time.
01:26And I just want to say that he loved his country and served proudly as well.
01:30I love that.
01:30Now, looking back, what do you think are some things that he learned from his service
01:34that he kind of brought to his life after his service?
01:37A lot of experience, I'll say that.
01:40A lot of good contacts, by the way.
01:42Yes, that too, yes. And you know what he also told me? He said,
01:47Sis, always be ready. And I think you know what that means.
01:50Right. Great advice.
01:52Now, we are honoring Bobby's memory because he did pass away in June.
01:57And so we're so thankful for you to come on and let us know about Bobby
01:59so that people can know about him.
02:01And we're so thankful to you and your family for his service.
02:04And, Janet, we know it's a tough thing to come on the air and talk about this,
02:07but we wanted to make sure we gave you an opportunity to do so.
02:11Thank you. I appreciate that.
02:12What was your favorite thing about your brother?
02:16Well, he was really mischievous, always getting into trouble.
02:21So was your older brother or younger brother?
02:24He's older, actually, than I am.
02:26Okay.
02:26But he was my dad's favorite as well, but he was very mischievous.
02:31Well, he sounds like a great guy.
02:32And what an honor to be able to talk to you.
02:35And we're so thankful that we got a chance to learn about him.
02:38And we'd like to give you a $100 Amex gift card from Tampa Premium Outlets.
02:41Just a small way of saying thank you for letting us honor him.
02:45Yes, I appreciate that.
02:47We appreciate you, Janet.
02:48I'm going to put you on hold and we'll get you all taken care of, okay?
02:50All righty.
02:51Thank you so much, guys.
02:53Love honoring those that have served our country.
