00:00Hey, what's up y'all? It's Dub hanging here in the studio, back in the studio, glad to be back.
00:06And we are officially six weeks away from the 2022 Kix99 Guitar Pool, November 15th at the James Brown Arena.
00:14So let's go and let's go back a ways, okay? Let's go back down memory lane with some more Kix99 Guitar Pool memories.
00:21This time we're going to go to 2007. 2007 is probably my favorite guitar pool, and here's why.
00:28First of all, in 2007, it was our first year in a new venue. We had spent the previous five years, yeah, from 2001 to 2006, the last five years at the Bell Auditorium.
00:42Had a great run at the Bell. This year, in 2007, we were looking to take things to the next level.
00:48There was a brand new venue that had just opened in the CSRA, the USC Aiken Convocation Center, and that's where Guitar Pool was in 2007.
00:56We had a three-year run in Aiken, and we loved it. This show, though, was really, really special.
01:04And honestly, I don't think we knew how special it was at the time, because on that show, let me play this out for you.
01:12We had Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton, and Eric Church on the same show.
01:18Now, of course, it's 2007. You know, Blake Shelton had some hits out, but was not the superstar Blake Shelton just yet.
01:26Dierks Bentley, same thing. Eric Church was a brand new artist. Nobody really knew who Eric Church was at that point, but everybody left there knowing who Eric Church was.
01:35Think about that. When you think back about all the artists that we've had on Kick 99's Guitar Pool, and we had Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton, and Eric Church on the same show, you're not getting that anywhere else.
01:46That's one of my big memories from 2007. One of my other big memories, and T. Gentry loves this one, too.
01:52On the show in 2007 was Van Zandt, all right? That's Johnny Van Zandt and Donnie Van Zandt, as in Johnny, the lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Donnie, the lead singer of 38 Special.
02:02They were on Guitar Pool, and the closing finale song that year was Sweet Home Alabama.
02:09You got the Van Zandt brothers, Southern Rock royalty, singing Sweet Home Alabama, having Blake Shelton join in, having Dierks Bentley join in, Eric Church, Joe DiMassino was on that show, too.
02:21Bucky Covington, who was fresh off of American Idol, was on that show. It was a great Guitar Pool.
02:282007, I'm saying it might be my favorite. If it's not, it's right up there. It's definitely top three.
02:37Hopefully you remember some about 2007. If you don't, I'm going to include some videos right here, and be back here next week for more Guitar Pool memories, all right?
