Army Member Following In The Family Footsteps

00:00Tampa Bay's morning crew want to honor and thank those who protect and serve our country.

00:10We got Paulette on the phone. She is honoring her son today, James, who is in the Army.

00:15Good morning, Paulette. How are you?

00:16I'm doing okay. How are you guys?

00:18I'm doing great. We can't wait to learn more about your son, James.

00:21So tell us a little bit about James, where he's stationed, and what does he do in the Army?

00:24All right. He's 24 years old. He is stationed in Tucson, Arizona, and he's in the reserves, so they can call him in at any time to go.

00:35And he's a really good guy. I love him a lot. He's my only son.

00:40He's a great father. He's a great soon-to-be husband. He works really hard.

00:46His family is number one always in his heart.

00:48I love that, Paulette.

00:49Now, Paulette, when you first came to Mom and said, I want to join the Army, what was your reaction to that?

00:55I said it was a good idea because he wanted to do what his grandfather did and his great-grandpa and his cousin.

01:03Because my father, which is his grandfather, was in the Navy, and his great-grandfather was in the Marines, and his cousin was in the Marines.

01:11So, yeah.

01:12Okay. Just following in the family footsteps. I love that.

01:15Paulette, if you think back to when he originally went off to boot camp, what was your advice or your hope for him?

01:20Kind of taking a big step in a very important direction in his life.

01:24I just wanted him to do all he could do and be the best he could be.

01:28Well, it sounds like he's doing that, and we're so thankful for his service.

01:31So, please tell your son, James, that we appreciate his service to our country through the Army.

01:36And, Paulette, we appreciate you reaching out to us, and we'd like to do this.
