00:00Tampa Bay's Morning Crew want to honor and thank those who protect and serve our country.
00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.
00:10Talking to Linda today, and I'll tell you what, this guy David must be pretty awesome
00:14because she is nominating her daughter's boyfriend.
00:18Wow.
00:18Good morning, Linda. How are you?
00:20I'm great. How are you?
00:21Good. So we like this guy, David, huh?
00:23Yes, he's super nice. He's a great guy.
00:26How long have he's been dating your daughter?
00:29About a year and a half.
00:30Aw, and look at you calling us up and get a gloat on him. I love this.
00:36Let's talk about his service. Tell us how David has served our country.
00:41He joined the military out of high school, and he was a Marine.
00:45And he is a third-generation Marine.
00:48Oh, wow.
00:49He was a military policeman.
00:51Okay.
00:52And he served in Japan, Korea, and the Philippines.
00:56Oh, wow.
00:56And now he works for Concerned Veterans for America, so he's still actually helping military
01:04veterans, and they pretty much advocate for them and try to get them, you know, good programs
01:09for health care and all those kinds of things.
01:12Yeah, it's a great organization, and we've said this before, and this is, you know, me
01:16knowing, you know, friends that are mine that are veterans.
01:18My dad being a veteran, my grandfather being a veteran, is that when veterans come to the
01:23aid of other veterans and they're able to talk about things that they maybe saw or experience,
01:28that connection of someone who's been there and done it and felt the things you felt is
01:32so huge.
01:33So I think that giving back by David is just as important service as when he was overseas,
01:38you know?
01:39Oh, yeah, absolutely.
01:40And then hearing from, you know, probably his father and grandfather, I'm sure, you
01:45know, it makes him want to help out even more.
01:48All right.
01:49So, Linda, the real question is, David sounds like a great guy, but do you think he is the
01:53one for your daughter?
01:55Oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:57Well, that's totally up to my daughter, but we seem to like him a lot, my husband and I.
02:02So, hypothetically, would he get the thumbs up from you?
02:06Yes.
02:07All right.
02:08All right.
02:08All right.
02:09Very nice.
02:09Very nice.
02:10All right.
02:10So when David is, you know, hanging out with you guys or hanging out with your daughter,
02:15what kind of fun things do you guys do?
02:18We like to go out on the boat, go out on the water and hang out on the beach, you know,
02:25just hang out at our house and go in the pool.
02:28Right.
02:29Things like that.
02:29What's your daughter's name, by the way?
02:31Kayla.
02:31All right.
02:32Very cool.
02:33Well, we're wishing David and Kayla nothing but the best.
02:35And Linda, we're so glad you reached out to us and told us about David's service.
02:38And he sounds like a stand-up guy and giving back and all that to Concerned Veterans for
02:43America, a great organization.
02:45Thank you to you guys for saluting the veterans and always keeping them, you know, out on the
02:50radio and talking about the good things that they do.
02:53Absolutely.
02:54The easiest and the least we can do to show our thanks.
02:58We want to do this, though.
02:59We want to give you a $100 Amex gift card from the Tampa Premium Outlets to give to him,
03:04which we know is going to go right to your daughter.
03:05That's fine.
03:06And then a $50 gift card to PDQ.
03:11Just a small way of saying thank you from us and the Tampa Premium Outlets and PDQ.
03:16That's awesome.
03:17Well, thank you so much, Linda.
03:20You guys are great.
03:21Say it every week.
03:21We love these stories and we want to hear about that special person in your life, that
03:25relative, someone who inspires you, whatever it is.
03:29We want to honor them if they are a military member for our Military Mondays and you can
03:33nominate them very easily.
03:35Just go to 995QYK.com.
03:37Only takes a couple minutes.
