00:00My name's Diana. I'm from Portsmouth, Rhode Island, here, and just want to know what can we do?
00:07Like, I call you guys, but you're doing everything that I'm calling about, so it's, you know, for an introvert to have to call every day is very, like, don't like it.
00:16You know, I was at the protest this weekend in Providence. You know, thank you, Representative Ammo, for going to one of the protests and speaking.
00:22And Sheldon and I watch our YouTubes, which are great to keep us informed and stuff, but what's the best way to fight this government, hostile government takeover, as the song says?
00:34What I recommend to people is three things. One is take care of yourself, because it isn't easy, and you don't want to distress yourself so much that you're overly affected.
00:47So take care of yourself. Be good to yourself. Second is, go through your contacts list, and anybody who you know who lives in a state with a Republican senator, send them a text or an email or give them a call and say,
01:06would you mind, and this can be Maine, Pennsylvania, Florida, wherever, would you mind giving them a call? Would you mind letting them know how you feel?
01:17Because constituents matter. And so connecting those constituents matters.
01:24And the last thing is my, you know, I love quoting Barbara Mikulski. She was the dean of the Senate women when I got there, and she was really fierce.
01:32Harry Reid said, none of you scare me, and then he looked and said, except Barbara. And one of her favorite sayings was, don't agonize, organize.
01:42So find people who think with you, work with you, care about your same passions, and join up. Your distress will be less when you're working with others than they will be if you feel you're on your own.
02:30They are always informative for me, but there's something for everyone.
02:35Push that out there.
02:36And then the second thing is I do, I alluded to it earlier, we do have to look out for one another a little bit more.
02:42Know that community does not live online or on the screen on cable news.
02:48And so, you know, it is going to be difficult if they are successful.
02:52Now, we don't want them to be successful, but if they are successful, we will have to continue to support our neighbors.
02:59And so finding ways to volunteer in one way or another, we're all busy, but work with others.
03:07This is how we continue to build community in whatever way we're able to.
