00:00Hi Vogue, it's Emma Chamberlain.
00:01I'm back to share my little beauty secrets with you.
00:04And today I'm gonna be showing you
00:05my updated skincare routine
00:07and a little spooky night out look.
00:12If I've learned anything over the last few years
00:15of getting my makeup done by professionals,
00:17if your skin is not hydrated under the makeup,
00:20it's not cute.
00:21So this is a little hydrating mask.
00:25I do this mask probably,
00:27it's whenever I feel like I need it
00:29and I have the time.
00:32We actually have to head downstairs real quick
00:33cause I have to get my face washed.
00:36So let me just go get that real quick.
00:37Hold on, sorry, I'll see you guys in a minute.
00:39I just have to go get it.
00:41Okay, it's been about 20, 30 minutes.
00:42I feel like it's good.
00:43I'm gonna go wash it off.
00:45You have to rinse with freezing cold water.
00:47At least for me, it like wakes up the skin.
00:50My favorite cleanser got discontinued.
00:52So we're all gonna be trying this Germalogica
00:55Ultra Calming Cleanser together for the first time.
00:59Oh, this feels delightful.
01:02We've really gotten in there, really cleansed.
01:07My skin looks quite good.
01:09Well, you know, we have a few things going on.
01:11I would say my skin, I've been through a journey.
01:14I've done it all.
01:15I went on Accutane.
01:17I've learned a lot about chemical exfoliants
01:20and repairing the moisture barrier.
01:22Like I have done the work.
01:24The thing that's honestly helped me the most
01:28is getting diagnosed with PCOS
01:30and getting put on medication
01:33that has helped my body regulate hormones.
01:38We're gonna be using this little moisturizer.
01:41I got diagnosed with PCOS at the hair salon.
01:44I was sitting in the chair getting my hair washed
01:47and a woman was next to me and she turned to me
01:50and she said, do you have PCOS?
01:51And I was like, uh, I don't know.
01:54My mom has PCOS.
01:56You know, she has PCOS and endometriosis
01:59and she's had a lot of challenges.
02:00And she was like, I think you have PCOS.
02:03And I was like, what's happening?
02:04She could tell by the acne that was on my cheeks.
02:07Turns out she was an OBGYN
02:09and she diagnosed me with PCOS.
02:11It's really changed my life to be honest.
02:13Like my periods are so much more chill.
02:16My skin is so much more predictable.
02:18My hair is getting thicker.
02:20It's just feeling like I'm coming back to myself in a way.
02:24The beauty sandwich,
02:25he does my facials for fancy red carpets.
02:29And one time he gave me his oil that he makes
02:32and I fell in love with it.
02:34I think there's like instructions on the back
02:36to like rub your hands together and smell it and stuff,
02:38which I do sometimes.
02:40It smells so good.
02:41I always thought of oil as being something
02:42that would just clog your pores,
02:44but I found that the combination
02:46of a really good moisturizer and a really good oil,
02:49it just creates the perfect makeup base.
02:52I'm at a place, I think in my life and young adulthood
02:56where I really appreciate the slow,
02:59methodical routine of it all.
03:03A lot of times these days,
03:04I'm not even putting music on for this stuff.
03:07Silence.
03:07I'm sunscreening up.
03:10Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Eye Primer.
03:15I had been doing eyeshadow looks with no base
03:18and it was kind of a problem
03:21because my eyeshadow looks weren't sticking.
03:24Maybe I need to buy a primer.
03:25Maybe that's why they sell primer.
03:28My perspective on beauty has shifted a lot.
03:33I think I'm personally less concerned about looking,
03:37you know, conventionally attractive
03:39and I'm far more interested in looking sort of interesting.
03:42I did a little pixie cut a few months ago
03:44because I was excited about the idea of having hair
03:47that would be fun for me to style that was intriguing.
03:51And that's kind of what has become beautiful for me
03:54is things that are intriguing and interesting.
03:57I'm going to go in with the whitish
04:00and this little beige-ish one.
04:03I've done this look before,
04:04but it's going to be different today than it's ever been before.
04:07And that's very exciting now, isn't it?
04:09Now, isn't it?
04:09Oh my God, my Irish roots are coming out.
04:12I'm going to start out with this grayish.
04:14It's like a brown with like a gray undertone.
04:18I'm getting in the crease, although it's sloppy,
04:21but it doesn't matter because I'm going to blend it in a moment.
04:24So just don't judge me.
04:25The Met's coming up.
04:27I am doing the interviews again.
04:29Every time they ask me back, I'm like,
04:32come on, you sure?
04:34I really love the fast paced dynamic nature
04:39of doing the red carpet interviews.
04:41The cool thing about The Met is that
04:43it's celebrating fashion at the end of the day
04:44and looking at what they chose to wear
04:47and using that to sort of guide the conversation,
04:52I find tends to take it in a more unique direction.
04:57Like it's almost more fun to discover with the audience
04:59in a way and to genuinely be curious,
05:04authentically be curious.
05:05Like if I don't know everything about somebody,
05:08then I'm authentically curious
05:09about what they're going to tell me.
05:11Underrated eyeshadow color, gray.
05:14And I'm just going to start working it into the crease
05:17a tiny bit, really gently.
05:18I'm going to really try to be gentle.
05:20I'm going to go a little bit under as well.
05:24We have another palette.
05:26Can you believe it?
05:26Two palettes for Emma.
05:28I'm going to be using the red and the red,
05:30and I'm also going to dip into,
05:32I love red eyeshadow, eyeliner.
05:37I think the first time I tried it,
05:39I went to an Acne Studios event, actually.
05:41I was talking to the makeup artist and I was like,
05:43let's do something kind of spooky vibes.
05:45And she was like, let's do a little red.
05:47And I was like, say no more.
05:50I've been waiting for this moment.
05:51And it was perfect.
05:52And I've been sort of subtly integrating it
05:55into my own routine ever since.
05:57We're going to really lightly work it into the crease,
05:59just a tiny bit, a little bit of the red underneath.
06:02The thing that's nice is that, you know,
06:04I can clean up my mess with my foundation and my concealer.
06:07So I'm like, not really worried about it being a mess.
06:10This is why we do eyes first.
06:13Now I'm going in with the darkish red in this palette
06:16and the lightish red.
06:20I'm blending this red out a little bit,
06:22just so that it's a tiny bit less harsh.
06:26I'm going to add a little bit more of this
06:27and I'm going to do a bit of highlighting here.
06:33I'm going to go back in with the gray one more time.
06:43There's a lot more building in makeup than I think.
06:46I realized when I first started, like,
06:48it's building a good eye makeup look is like,
06:50you like keep going back in with new layers
06:54and the layers is what makes it so good.
06:57Okay, this is a life hack that I just found out about
06:59and we're going to try it today.
07:00Wetting the sponge with setting spray.
07:03This is kind of incredible.
07:05My favorite concealer of all time.
07:13I'm really in a phase of my career
07:15where I'm really like trying to have a return to self,
07:18to be honest.
07:19I had a very complicated relationship with YouTube
07:21for a long time and it was how I started my career.
07:25But then I think for a long time, I was like,
07:27maybe I want to be more than a YouTuber
07:30and then that messed with my head.
07:31And then I realized, wait, I love being a YouTuber.
07:34This was my dream as a kid.
07:37I did it.
07:38Why am I self-sabotaging?
07:40So I'm loving making YouTube videos.
07:43I make them all myself.
07:44I edit them all myself.
07:45So I've been focusing on that.
07:46Career plot twist.
07:47I did just act in my first movie
07:49and it was a mind-bending experience.
07:53This movie is called Forbidden Fruits.
07:56There's lots of fabulous, fabulous people in it.
07:59Lily Reinhart, Victoria Pedretti, Lola Tung, Alexandra Shipp.
08:04I was such a fish out of water, I was like, what is happening?
08:09You just kind of have to jump in the deep end
08:11and see what happens and it was really fun.
08:14Foundation, luminous silk.
08:17Everyone got along so well and, you know,
08:20I'd never done it before so I wasn't sure
08:23if I was gonna, you know, stick out like a sore thumb or what.
08:26It was something I'll remember for the rest of my life.
08:28Serum concealer.
08:30I'm just gonna highlight like here.
08:31And then I'm also gonna put a little bit more
08:36of this concealer.
08:44Contour sick, not bronzer.
08:46A little bit, it kind of looks like already a bronzer there.
08:49Am I kind of snatched today?
08:51A little bit up here.
08:58I love contour.
08:59I don't even use blush, I just contour.
09:01Blush is so in right now and it's just not for me.
09:04I don't like it on myself for some reason.
09:06It's too sweet for me.
09:08I like to look a bit creepier perhaps.
09:11Makeup becomes more fun when it's more about
09:13sort of enhancing what you already have
09:16or transforming into a character.
09:18When I think back to when I had acne
09:20and I was wearing makeup to sort of try to cover the acne,
09:22cover the acne and it was sort of this stressful thing.
09:25It wasn't fun when that was my relationship to makeup.
09:28Whereas now it's like I'm either, you know,
09:31putting it on to look weird or look kind of cute at the store.
09:37Powder translucent, Laura Mercier.
09:43If I'm not careful, I'll accidentally just absolutely pack it on.
09:47And it's, that's not what we want.
09:48We're going to go in with, I think this one's bronzer,
09:51but I kind of use it as contour.
09:58If you work in entertainment, as I do, your job is not promise.
10:04I think the best thing I've done for my own mental health
10:07and for actually my career as well is to just let go of that fear
10:12and to say, you know what?
10:13It might go away tomorrow and that's okay.
10:15And if it does, I'll find something else that I love just as much.
10:19I've come to terms with the fact that it could,
10:21it could end at any point and I just need to enjoy it while it lasts.
10:24Let's get these brows under control.
10:26Classic great lash clear.
10:31These are my full natural brows right now.
10:33I don't get them plucked.
10:34I don't get them threaded.
10:35I quite like them as is.
10:36They're charming.
10:37They're mine.
10:38There are other beauty treatments that are mandatory for me.
10:41Like I must always have my nails done.
10:43They might not look done, but they are.
10:45They're beige.
10:46I'm going to go back in with this and I'm going to deepen the red underneath the eye.
10:54You know, when I go to red carpet events, it's really my time to sort of play.
10:59And as I said before, you know, most of the time I'm at home in my PJs.
11:03And so when a carpet event comes around, my stylist Jared and I are like, let's,
11:09let's push the boundaries.
11:10Let's wear something that isn't even remotely similar to what I would wear on a day-to-day basis.
11:15Let's have fun.
11:19This is my least favorite step of my makeup routine.
11:24Wow.
11:25These are really up, up, up today.
11:26Look at them.
11:27Oh, my favorite lip liner of all time.
11:31I'm like obsessed.
11:32Makeup forever.
11:34Wherever Walnut.
11:36I wear this every single day.
11:40I'm, I'm an overline girl.
11:42Listen, I don't have lip filler, so I have to keep up somehow.
11:45So we're over lining.
11:49I haven't done lip filler yet.
11:50Listen, I say yet, because you never know.
11:52Okay.
11:53Never say never.
11:53I said I'd never act.
11:54And then now I'm going to be in a movie.
11:57So I guess we can't say never.
12:02Two lip liner alert.
12:03This is also Makeup Forever.
12:05This one is Universal Earth.
12:09Lip liner changes the whole face.
12:11To me, it's the best product in the world.
12:13I don't know what I did before.
12:15I'm constantly saving makeup ideas on Pinterest.
12:17I think that that's what actually got me more into makeup is being so obsessed with Pinterest
12:23and constantly being fed beautiful images of makeup.
12:25It made me feel like, wait, like I want to be able to do this myself.
12:29Butter Glow.
12:30This one's shade 57.
12:33I'm just kind of using this to like blend the lip liners together.
12:37I'm going to do a bit of highlight and we're going to put this everywhere.
12:44A little road in espresso, which is so, so me as a coffee girl.
12:55Okay.
12:55Let's do setting spray.
12:58And now I always have this with me.
13:02I use this to sort of set the setting spray so I can move on to other things.
13:07I'm going to take a little wipe and wipe the makeup off my hair.
13:10When you've bleached hair, weird things happen.
13:15My hair is quite grown out.
13:16Okay.
13:16Well, we need to fix it.
13:17First, I'm going to spray it with water.
13:21Okay.
13:21So now I'm going to brush through my hair.
13:23My hair is freshly washed with purple shampoo.
13:26Now I'm going to brush it and shape it to the way that I like.
13:30Getting it kind of flatter in the back because it definitely,
13:34we have some bed head going on, but don't worry.
13:36I'm going to spray a little bit of leave-in conditioner.
13:40Okay.
13:40Now here's my life hack.
13:41We're just going to let it dry in my hood like this.
13:46Okay.
13:47And I'm telling you, if you have a pixie, this is the, the heatless hairstyle of your dreams.
13:53While I wait, I'll do another layer of mascara.
13:55Why not?
13:59I think it's good now.
14:00Okay.
14:01Yeah, that's great.
14:02The thing I like about this hair, the pixie with the bleach is that it has like an interesting
14:06dimension to it.
14:07It still looks cool.
14:09We're going to use a little bit of this paste.
14:12So I'm going to take a little bit.
14:15I really like it to be kind of like spiky and random.
14:18There's no rules.
14:23My spooky glam.
14:24I hope that you all enjoyed it.
14:26And if Vogue lets me come back in a few years to do it again, I will.
14:30So I guess I'll see you then.
14:32And I'll see you at the mat on the red carpet.
14:35Okay.
14:35Bye.
