Happy Earth Day, Everybody! Here's a special videotape I grew up on as a child, along with my sister and family!

Come Along with head counsler Grover as he leads his Muppet kid campers on an informative hike through scenic Monster State Park. But when some of Grover's information is wrong, he and his campers get help from a talking mountain, some recycling birds, and special guest star Cookie Monster, and everyone learn a gentle lesson about the importance of preserving our Earth's environment. This collection of sing-along hits includes "Every Bit a' Litter Hurts", Oscar's Junk Band", Kermit the Frog's classic On My Pond", and eight more Sesame Street favorites. Get ready for a lively musical lesson in ecology as you sing along to save the Earth!

Song List:
1. Every Bit a' Litter Hurts
2. Just Throw it My Way
3. Air
4. Water Pollution (featuring Willie Wimple) (Additional echoing on sound effects.)
5. On my Pond (Closing Cut)
6. Little Plant
7. Box City Recycling Rap
8. Oscar's Junk Band (Edited)
9. Keep the Park Clean for the Pigeons (Introduction Cut)
10. The Wasteroon Song
11. What a Gift

Credits:
Executive Producer: Nina Elias Bamberger
Director: Emily Squires
Writer: Tony Geiss

Note: Baby Bear makes a cameo as part of the forest animals in the scene with Cookie Monster. A later scene features what would become the puppet used for Papa Bear, referred here only as "bear" and performed by David Rudman.
Kathryn Mullen is erroneously listed twice in the credits.
This is the only installment of the "Sesame Songs" series not to have been given a subsequent video or DVD release. The scene featuring Cookie Monster in Monster State Park was published to Sesamestreet.org for a time and on the Sesame Street YouTube channel. (YouTube)
In addition to the main cast, incidental characters were played by Joey Mazzarino (pink bird, wolf), Fran Brill (dandelion, light purple bird, rabbit), and David Rudman (dark purple bird).

01:30Sorry, I slipped.
01:32Oh, you scared away the butterfly.
01:35Well, no wonder. Look at this.
01:38I slipped on this banana peel because somebody threw it on the ground here instead of in a trash basket.
01:45And that, campers, throwing trash on the ground is called Flopsy Dropsy.
01:51No, it is not.
01:53It's called littering.
01:55Oh, littering. Of course.
01:58Okay, so let this be a lesson, campers.
02:01If you throw a banana peel on the ground, come soft like this, carously.
02:05You know what happens?
02:07Someone could be walking along and then...
02:10And scare away a little butterfly.
02:20So, do not litter.
02:21Or maybe there's a stash of cans and junk and trash.
02:43Some place we're droppin' litter is wrong
02:46It's good for me and you
02:49To put our trash into
02:51A basket or a can of bin
02:54Just think what it would mean
02:57If people never cleaned
02:59The pile of litter we'd be in
03:02Every bit of litter hurts
03:05Oh yeah, oh yeah
03:07Every piece of paper counts
03:09Uh-huh
03:10Every soda can
03:12Bottle cap, newspaper, candy wrap
03:15Every bit of litter hurts
03:17You can't picture this
03:20You're walkin' with your sis
03:22And eatin' popsicles for a treat
03:25Your sis is finished quick
03:28And almost drops a stick
03:30And throws a wrapper onto the street
03:33Can't talk to more surprise
03:36There's no place around
03:38Where people can throw trash away
03:40You keep it in your hand
03:43Until you find a can
03:45And then your consciousness doesn't say
03:48Every bit of litter hurts
03:52Oh yeah, oh yeah
03:53Every piece of paper counts
03:56Uh-huh
03:57Every soda cap, bottle cap, newspaper, candy wrap
04:01Every bit of litter hurts
04:03Every bit of litter hurts
04:07Oh yeah, oh yeah
04:09Every piece of paper counts
04:11Uh-huh
04:12Every soda cap, bottle cap, newspaper, candy wrap
04:17Every bit of litter hurts
04:19A thing that you just cannot use
04:34Can bring a grouch such endless pleasure
04:39That crumpled cup
04:41That broken toy
04:44Is trash or grouch
04:46We'll always treasure
04:49Don't toss it out
04:51Up on the street
04:54Or on the grass
04:56Or on the highway
04:59No, no, not there
05:01I'll tell you where
05:03Just throw it my way
05:08The first balloon
05:10An empty bag
05:13It's hard to find a place to stash it
05:18Sometimes you block
05:20Block after block
05:23Before you find a place to trash it
05:28Don't throw it out
05:30Along the way
05:33In someone's flowerbed
05:36Or driveway
05:37Just do what's right
05:40And hang on tight
05:43Then throw it my way
05:47Oh what a waste
05:50It is to see
05:52Some yucky trash
05:55Flopped on a tree
05:57Or on a park
05:59Or on a beach
06:02If there's no ground
06:04Within your reach
06:07Oh hear my plea
06:09Save it for me
06:12And throw it my way
06:16Okay, throw it my way
06:20Right into my own grass
06:21Yeah
06:22And throw it my way
06:36On top of old smokey
06:44All covered with snow
06:47On top of old smokey
06:48All covered with snow
06:49Capers, capers, capers
06:49Keep climbing
06:50We're almost there
06:52Yay!
06:53One more thing
06:54When you get to the top
06:56Wait for me
06:57Oh well
07:06Here we are on this beautiful
07:08Misty mountain top
07:09Where the air is clean and healthy
07:11And not full of smoke
07:13And gases
07:14Let us enjoy breathing this
07:16Wonderful
07:16Air without gases
07:19All together breathe in
07:21Wait, stop breathing
07:29This air is filthy
07:32Of course it's filthy
07:34You're on top of old smokey
07:38My air is full of smoke
07:40And gases from cars
07:41And some factories
07:43I'm going back to L.A., dudes
07:46Okay, capers
07:49Everyone's at the mountain
07:50To look for fresh air
07:52We need fresh air to breathe
07:55If I wasn't a mountain
08:01I'd leave you too
08:03I could use a little fresh air
08:06Give me lots of air
08:14Nice, beautiful air
08:17For you and me to share
08:19Air
08:20Cause there is no doubt
08:21When we breathe in and out
08:24The thing that breathing's about
08:26Is air
08:27From the sky to the ground
08:31The thing that's around
08:32Is air, air, air
08:34And if the paper blows by
08:36We all know why
08:37There's air, air, air, air, air
08:39Everywhere
08:40If you look in the sky
08:42And a kite's flying by
08:45The thing that's making it fly
08:47Is air
08:47From the sky to the ground
08:49The thing that's all around
08:51That can always be found
08:54Is air
08:55From the sky to the ground
08:59The thing that's around
09:00Is air, air, air
09:02It's blowing about
09:03We can't do without the air
09:05Air, air, air, air, air
09:07Everywhere
09:08You bring the chip
09:13So what's in that balloon
09:14From the sky to the ground
09:17The thing that's all around
09:19That can always be found
09:21Air, air, air
09:26Here, air, everywhere
09:28Air, air, air
09:30It's everywhere
09:31Air, air, air
09:35Air, air, air
09:36Air, air
09:37You bring the chip
09:37All in case you didn't
09:38So what it's in
09:39Air
09:40Row, row, row
09:42Your boat
09:43Get me down
09:44Your stream
09:45Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
09:47Life is but a dream
09:48Okay, Sampers
09:49Sampers, yes
09:51Here we are
09:52In a boat
09:52On beautiful lake
09:53Ha-ha
09:54A veritable
09:55Water Wonderland
09:57Mm-hmm
09:58Hey
09:59Junior
10:00Do not do that
10:03Well, hey
10:05I'm gonna throw that
10:06Right back out there
10:06Wait, Junior
10:07Stop it, Junior
10:09It's alive
10:10Who said that?
10:11Who said that?
10:13Me, Smokey the Salmon
10:14And I'm here to say
10:16Please don't throw stuff
10:18In our lakes and rivers
10:19It makes them dirty
10:21For fish
10:21And for people, too
10:23Thank you
10:24Yes
10:25And that is called
10:27Water messing up a lot
10:28By throwing bad stuff in it
10:30No, it's not
10:32It is not?
10:33It's called
10:34Water pollution
10:35Water pollution
10:36Of course it is
10:38The short name
10:38Do not worry, Smokey the Salmon
10:41We will not throw this tin can
10:42In your lake
10:43We will find a trash basket
10:45And throw it in there
10:46You will?
10:48Then don't go away
10:49We've got more stuff for you
10:51What?
10:52You've got more stuff for us
10:53What?
10:54Oh, no
10:54Wait, what was that?
10:55Whoa, whoa
10:56Hey, fish
10:57What are you doing?
10:58Hey, fish, hold it
10:58Hey, lighten up, fish
11:00Fish, hold it
11:01Wait, whoa
11:02Will he wimple
11:06When a boat
11:06Making dirty water here
11:08Pouring stuff there
11:10Till the gunk was everywhere
11:11Now if every kid did it
11:14Can't you see
11:15What an icky mess
11:17It would be
11:18No place for fish to swim
11:21No lakes for sailing in
11:25No rivers, no streams
11:27No submarines
11:28No swimming ever again
11:32Now if every kid did it
11:34Can't you see
11:36What an icky mess
11:37No fun world
11:39It would be
11:41There's a place where I can sit
11:54Just me, myself, and I
11:57On my pond
12:00On my pond
12:02On my pond
12:04Where the water's fresh and clean
12:10And peaceful as a sigh
12:13On my pond
12:15On my pond
12:17On my pond
12:19Look at the grass all around me
12:26It's green as a smile on my face
12:29Look at the trees, they astound me
12:34Wow, what a beautiful place
12:38There's a spot where no one lives
12:42But quiet little fish
12:45On my pond
12:47On my pond
12:49On my pond
12:51Nature lets me come and visit
12:58Anytime I wish
13:01On my pond
13:03On my pond
13:05On my pond
13:07Look at the snow we're enjoying
13:14Cover me, let's see
13:16How you care
13:17Hey, this is getting annoying
13:21Let's keep it down
13:24Wait a minute
13:28Who said you could dump your garbage here
13:33On my pond, on my pond, on my pond, cleaning it all up again, because years and years, on my pond, on my pond, on my pond, keeping it clean to begin with,
14:02yes, that's the smart thing to do, don't let them cover hard things free, any hard watch tiny girl, save a place where I can sit, or clean myself and I, on my pond, on my pond, on my pond, on my pond,
14:31keep the water fresh and cool, and peaceful as a sign, on my pond, on my pond, on my pond, on my pond, on my pond, yes, on my pond, on my pond, on my pond, on my pond,
14:55to appreciate nature, nature appreciators, we must also enjoy our leafy friends, like the green thing here, see the big green thing here, yes, this thing here is called,
15:09a, uh, the whole big thing is called a leafarino, leafarino, no, it's not, no, no, no, of course not, it is called a, um,
15:18a tree, a tree, yes, yes, and a nice thing about trees and plants, is that they clean the air, so whenever you roar,
15:28roar, who did that, we did, but, but flowers do not roar, we are wild flowers, roar, dandelions, roar,
15:45roar, well, as I was saying, the nice thing about trees and plants, is that they give us food, like apples, and berries,
15:54and shade when it is hot which is why we must take care of them and they are uh usually quiet too
16:14i have a little plant i always give her water
16:17cause you see she really loves her water and she says thank you to me even though i never hear it but
16:27she says thank you to me i have a little plant i put her in the sunlight cause you see she really
16:40loves the sunlight and she says thank you to me even though i never hear it still she says thank you to me
16:56she'll never give me flowers or cuddle like a pet she'll never give me pretty fruit to eat what you
17:06see is what you get i have a little plant i guess i'll keep on caring cause you see she really likes
17:15my caring and she says thank you to me even though i'll never hear it still she says thank you to me
17:27i can tell it very clearly when she says thank you to me well she would if she could talk wouldn't you
17:38little plant okay you're welcome well that's easy for you to say okay later
17:50see bird is using an old piece of string to build a new nest and reusing something old
18:20to make something new is called reusing something old to make something new no it's not it's called
18:27recycling yes oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah as i said it is called recycling what what is that well
18:35recycling is when you use old bottles to make no bottles or use all boxes to make new paper yeah
18:43oh i see yes or maybe like a used tin can maybe to plant a flower in hey hey hey where's that menhats
18:53but that's that that's my official hat thanks for the nest toner but that is my official hat i need to cover my
19:04official hat oh don't worry oh don't worry we've got a new one for you
19:15our old nest i think i have been recycled when i'm done with my cereal there's something i can do
19:22i could use a box or something else make something new i can cut and pay some windows and maybe at a
19:27door if we had a few more boxes we could do a whole lot more recycle i can stack it i can tape it i can
19:34glue it down a box can be a house in another part of town keep on making buildings let's go with the
19:40flow the tent will be a city we can watch it grow recycle you can do it by yourself you can do it with
19:48a friend there's lots of things we throw away that we can use again when i finish with the carton i can make
19:53a tower tall put it down right over here make sure it doesn't fall putting all the parts together i
20:00can make a car driving down the highway don't go too far and use up rolls in a row make a bridge across
20:08the roof and we can go go go recycle when you've got an empty box and you don't know what to do
20:15just use a box or something else make something new saving stuff to use again that's what this
20:20that's a doubt it's all about recycling so don't throw it out
20:35i know a lot of folks who are extremely loyal to a banjo or a nice guitar
20:42but i prefer a greasy can of olive oil with a broken broom handled by far
20:52some people think the sound of a trombone
20:54because one guy's treasure is another guy's trash
21:08in oscars jumping
21:10oscars jumping
21:12stamp your muddy feet and clap your dirty hands
21:16we're gonna play the chunkiest soon you can stand
21:20come on and hear oscars jump band
21:24some music fans appreciate the pedal steel
21:30or a steel or a clarinet or violin but me i love the sound of dried up orange
21:38peel when you shake it in a sardine tin
21:42you keep your tuba give me pink your tubes to play
21:48don't wanna drop and steal i want an ice cube tray
21:52we like it rusty dusty busted thin or old
21:56cause one gal's garbage is another gal's gold
22:00in oscars jump band oscars jump band
22:04take your muddy feet and clap your dirty hands
22:08we're gonna play the chunkiest soon you can stand
22:12come on and hear oscars jump band
22:16okay take it guys
22:34come on and hear oscars jump band
22:50come on and hear oscars jump band
22:54come on and hear oscars jump band
22:58Ah, yeah, Cookie Monster in Monster State Park, too.
23:09Because me love great outdoors.
23:12Here, here, me can do favorite things like listen to birdies
23:17and smell flowers, climb mountains,
23:21and eat cookies.
23:28Moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms, moms.
23:34Oh, that's delicious.
23:36Me love wide open spaces.
23:38Now, what me do with the box?
23:42Me no see trash baskets.
23:44What the hay?
23:46Don't do that.
23:47Yeah, don't make a mess.
23:49We got to live here.
23:51Yeah, yeah, yeah.
23:51Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
23:54Me keep place tidy for four-footed, feathered friends.
23:58A boy in the park with a penny bird
24:07From a sandwich on which he had fared
24:11Was about to drop it on the sidewalk
24:14When a pigeon looked up and it said
24:18Please keep the park clean for the pigeon
24:25That is the right thing to do
24:29Throw all your trash in the basket
24:32And we will say thank you to you
24:36Keep the park clean for the pigeon
24:40When you eat candy or gum
24:43Throw what is left in the trash can
24:47Think of your small feather chum
24:50Ever see a pigeon drop a soda can on the ground?
24:55No!
24:56No, when pigeons see bread drums on the sidewalk
24:59Do they just leave them there?
25:01No!
25:02No, no, no, they pick them up with their pigs
25:05And not just because they're hungry, right?
25:07No!
25:08Why? Because pigeons hate a mess
25:12When they're in trash on the sidewalk
25:16They can't see bread drums too
25:19Cracker jacks get in their feathers
25:22Oh!
25:23Chewing up sticks to their feet
25:26So put your trash in your pocket
25:30If there's no basket around
25:33Please keep it to the ground
25:34Please keep it to throw away later
25:37Remember the dirt on the ground
25:40And...
25:41People!
25:42Keep the park clean for the pigeon
25:45Pigeons!
25:46People!
25:47Throw all your trash in the basket
25:50Pigeons!
25:51Pigeons!
25:52Pigeons!
25:53Pigeons!
25:54Pigeons!
25:55Pigeons!
25:56Pigeons!
25:57Everyone!
25:58Be the park clean for the pigeon
26:01That is the right thing to do
26:04Throw all your trash in the basket
26:07And they will say thank you to you
26:11Throw all your trash in the basket
26:14And they will say thank you to you
26:19Thank you!
26:20Thank you!
26:21Thank you!
26:34Grover?
26:35I'm tired!
26:36Can you carry my canteen?
26:37I do not see why
26:39Not that I am carrying everyone else's
26:42Because they are tired
26:44Of course
26:46Grover is getting a little tired too
26:48You know what?
26:49Whoa!
26:50I'll make the canteen later
26:52I'll just pour some water out
26:53No!
26:54No!
26:55Stop!
26:56What are you doing?
26:57Do not pour water on the ground
26:59Water is precious
27:00We cannot make more so we must save every drop
27:03It does not grow in trees, you know
27:05Yeah, but the water makes the canteen heavier
27:08Well, never mind
27:09I am carrying so much
27:11One more canteen
27:12It would be nothing
27:13Nothing at all
27:14Go ahead
27:15Just put it in the back there
27:16Okay
27:17You got it?
27:18Yeah, I'll put it right there
27:19Okay
27:20Okay
27:21Okay
27:22Okay
27:23Okay
27:26Okay
27:30I think so
27:31The important thing is
27:33We did not waste water
27:34Water
27:35Are you a waster-roo?
27:37Are you a waster-roo?
27:39Are you a waster-roo?
27:41Rita Bailey wasting water
27:43Just grittered it away
27:45She left the water dripping, dripping, dripping
27:49While she ran off to play
27:51She's a bearer, a lollipoo
27:54She wasted the water
27:56She's a waster-roo
27:58Are you a wasteroo? Are you a wasteroo?
28:00Are you a wasteroo?
28:02Now Shervin Cox, most his hands he'll in the water
28:04Running, running, running
28:08Wasted water down the drain
28:10That water can't be used again
28:12He's a litter, a molly poo
28:16In wasted water
28:18He's a wasteroo
28:20Are you a wasteroo?
28:22Now Shervin Cox and Freda Bailey
28:24Have learned a thing or two
28:26They've learned that
28:28Wasting water's not the thing to do
28:30They're no drips
28:32They're no gully poos
28:34They're saving water
28:36So they can't be wasteroo
28:38Are you a wasteroo?
28:40If you never ever waste a drop of water
28:46Then you can never ever be a wasteroo
28:48Is that not the beautiful campers?
28:54What pretty colors
28:56We see it every night
28:58Before the sun goes down
29:00And it is called a sunset
29:02No it is not
29:04Yes it is
29:06So it is
