00:00What's up? It's Paul from Guitar World and today I'd like to say that it would make no sense for me
00:14to say something like, the wait is over on what I have over here because many of us didn't see
00:20this coming. That's right, your eyes do not deceive you. PRS guitars made some pedals.
00:26Let's take a quick look at them.
00:30Yes, you heard that correctly. PRS or Paul Reed Smith, maker of many of the finest electric
00:38guitars and acoustics and even amplifiers, have now thrown their hat in the stomp box ring
00:43and released three new guitar pedals. The horse meat transparent overdrive, the wind through
00:48the trees dual analog flanger and the merry cries optical compressor. All of these PRS pedals
00:55feature through hole soldering which broadens the component selection and allows for the
00:59best sounding parts to be used. And they are also true bypass.
01:07According to PRS, the horse meat transparent overdrive is a built from scratch circuit designed to enhance guitar tone without coloring it. The pedal uses germanian diodes for a smoother and fuller overdriven crunch that closely approaches a meaty distortion as you increase the gain.
01:14You can see the control. You can see the controls for the treble and bass to boost both the high and low end frequencies, while the voice controls are a bit more efficient.
01:21PRS, the voice control offers more tailoring of the harmonic content for added richness to your tone. Depending on the setting, of course, the horse meat can be used for a bit more efficient.

01:37Depending on the setting, of course, the horse meat can be used as a clean boost, straight overdrive, or push the front end of the amps preamp section to enhance the amplifiers distortion.
01:44Handsomeat.
02:14PRS likes to say that the Wind Through the Trees dual analog flanger pedal is best
02:43described as two flangers fighting each other, or what I'd like to say, two flangers mixed into one
02:49another, resulting in a sound reminiscent of the wind whipping through the trees, hence its colorful
02:56name. The pedal features manual depth and ray controls per flanger as well as global
03:13regeneration and added highs controls. There's endless flanging to be had with the wind through
03:18the trees. Based on the classic LA-2A rack mount, a hand-wired and tube-based compressor, the Merry
03:28Cry's optical compressor pedal aims to thicken your guitar tone, curb signal peaks, increase sustain,
03:34and push your tone with definition and clarity.
03:50This pedal can also be used as a boost as well as a straightforward compressor,
03:53or even better, use it as a clean boost with a hint of compression. What's nice is the pedal's blue
03:59compression light shows you when the compression is actively kicking in.
04:09PRS should have used the slogan, expect the unexpected, for their brand new pedal launch.
04:13With the horse meat as a wonderful textured overdrive, Merry Cry's as a simplified studio quality
04:19optical compressor, and the dual vintage flanging from their Wind Through the Trees analog flanger,
04:25PRS has come out of the gate swinging with three high-end stomp boxes built to last a lifetime
04:30with classic sounds most guitarists will want to investigate further. Definitely check them out.
04:55And now on.
