Ben Banks reports from the national stadium after Hearts' Scottish Cup semi final exit.
Transcript
00:00Full time here at Hampden, after extra time, Aberdeen 2, Hearts 1, a gritty performance from the Jambos,
00:09arguably, in this person's opinion, certainly the better team over the 90 minutes and then over 120 minutes as it turned out to be,
00:17with 10 men for the majority of that. Pappy Habib Guy put the Dons ahead with a header,
00:23Lawrence Shankland levelled soon after that, Aberdeen were well out of the game, Hearts were on top, albeit not creating a lot of chances,
00:31Michael Steinbender was sent off just before the end of the first half for a last man tackle on Toppy Keskinen.
00:38By that point, Neil Kitschard had to change things about, changed from the diamond to three at the back,
00:43Frankie Kent, Craig Alcott coming on, injuries were starting to play a part, Adam Forrester and Lawrence Shankland amongst those
00:50who have gone off over 120 minutes. They eventually got it too extra time and again,
00:55while chances weren't really being created, they were the better team in possession, Aberdeen were doing very little with the man advantage,
01:01but Cammie Devlin's second yellow in the late periods of second half extra time was too much for the Jambos,
01:08the holes started opening up and Ode Daba scored in the final stages of that to put them into the Scottish Cup final.
01:16There was a lot asked about Neil Kitschard and his Hearts team going into this, about their ability to go with big games,
01:20could they handle these big occasions? I think they probably proved that they can handle these big games,
01:25they were certainly the better team for lots of it, but they're still waiting for that big win,
01:29and that's the question of mine that'll still look over them. They'll get a three pass of sorts today,
01:34they're all up against them and they still perform well under incredibly difficult circumstances,
01:39but in the end they're not through and they've got bottom six pitchers to wait and they await them in the mid-time,
01:47and you get the feeling now that their season's kind of going to come to a catering end,
01:51and all spots are going to start turning towards the summer and what next season could become.
