00:00Hi everyone. In this video, I'm going to do a demo and tutorial of Google Keep.
00:09Google Keep is kind of like Evernote or like Turtle.
00:15I've previously made a video on Turtle. T-U-R-T-L without the E.
00:21Google Keep is free to use. You just need a Google account.
00:24It's a note-taking app and I think it's very useful and it's free to use.
00:32So, when you first use this, you're going to see a blank canvas like this.
00:45And you've got, on the left side, you've got these buttons you can use.
00:57And you can choose to click on this and those will make them move like that.
01:07And I've used Google Keep for a long time and I think it's quite a useful thing.
01:13So, this is what it looks like to actually make a note.
01:16So, at the top is the title of the note and then this part here is the actual text.
01:23And note that I have the pinned one up here and then one that's not pinned down there.
01:41And I'll discuss about pinning later.
01:52And what's really cool is that you can move it around.
01:55Let's make one more note.
01:57Example Notes 3.
01:59Yet, yet again more text.
02:04So, it's quite simple actually.
02:07But there's beauty in the simplicity.
02:11So, again to make a note, you've got the title up there and then you've got text you can put in.
02:18And there's a lot you can do.
02:20We'll discuss about the background and maybe briefly mention about this.
02:25I almost never use that.
02:27You can have collaborators.
02:28You can add images.
02:29You can archive it which is kind of like deleting except it's saved but it's kind of like archiving an email.
02:39You can have labels.
02:40You can have check boxes and more.
02:45So, this can be very useful for organizing.
02:50Yeah, so it's a note taking app but there's a lot you can do with it.
02:54So, as I mentioned, let's say learning Spanish.
03:02Okay, recently I've been learning Spanish and let's say for example I want to have a different background.
03:10It's really cool that you can have different backgrounds.
03:15For whatever reason you might want to.
03:18So, you can have the basically a background for the bottom part and you can have a background for the top part.
03:25See here I've got sort of a pinkish.
03:29Oh, that's a peach.
03:30That's orange.
03:31That's kind of a yellow, green, blue, purple and so on.
03:36So, you can make it look really beautiful if you've got different things you can choose.
03:43So, this is groceries for background, food.
03:49What is that?
03:53So, this is a forest I guess.
03:56We've got travel and I'm not sure what that is but I think that looks pretty cool.
04:04I kind of like that background.
04:06So, let's say I wanted to keep that.
04:09And for example this one I can, if I want I can have a background of like that.
04:19I think that's pretty cool.
04:22And then for example, let's try this one more.
04:29Like that.
04:31So, it's pretty cool that you can have the different backgrounds and you can play around with it.
04:36You might even be able to have a custom color.
04:39I'm not sure.
04:41It doesn't seem to be able to.
04:44Yeah, maybe later they'll add features so you can add your own custom color.
04:50But I, this can be pretty useful for example if you have different categories.
04:57So, the background color is pretty useful.
05:01And then let's say learning, I can say learning physics or learning astronomy, I don't know.
05:12So, you can have a background color.
05:16And then let's say galaxies were first discovered in the 1900s.
05:28So, notice I just hit enter and it made another list item.
05:33Kind of like in Google Docs.
05:39Comments.
05:40Okay, I'm just making a, I don't know.
05:46Just making some sort of a gibberish text.
05:51So, there's really a lot you can do.
05:54Let's say you had some, some long, long text like this.
05:59You might be able to do something with that.
06:02And, so that's just an example.
06:06You can make bullets.
06:07And let's say for example you want to, so check, check boxes.
06:13So, if you do check boxes, I think that's a really cool feature.
06:17And then you can close the different check boxes.
06:22And then later you can convert back.
06:24Let's say hide check boxes.
06:27So, it converts them back.
06:29And then let's say here you want to have the check boxes again for some reason.
06:34You can have, add another list item.
06:37See that, see that's really clever, right?
06:41Let's say go back to the, so check boxes.
06:44And then you can undo the check boxes.
06:47Which I think is really cool.
06:51And again, let's say check boxes.
06:53So, if you add check boxes, it automatically adds them as list items.
06:57And it's really cool because you can move the list items around.
07:01Let's say yet more text.
07:02You can go to the bottom.
07:04And you see, notice here this is kind of a sub list item.
07:08If you, you can move it to the right.
07:11Move it to the left so they're aligned.
07:14And this is, so it becomes a sub list item in the check, check boxes.
07:23I think that's a really useful thing.
07:25And again, we can move these items around.
07:29And you might want to have the default color of white.
07:37And then, let's say again, we want to have check boxes.
07:42Actually, recently I don't use check boxes that much.
07:45But they could be very useful.
07:47It depends on what you're doing.
07:49There's so much you can do with Google Keep.
07:51It's all more or less what you want to do with it.
07:54But I, it is very, very, very useful.
07:58So, let's say, for example, learning Spanish.
08:02I'll have the, I'll go back to the default colors.
08:05Let's say, Spanish word, English word.
08:14Let's say, Nunes Monday.
08:23Okay, I don't know.
08:27So, for example, maybe you want to practice vocab, like that.
08:35So, now what I want to show you is some images.
08:38This is showing you, this shows you an image.
08:45Okay, so what I'm going to do is, an image will post here.
08:50So, what you can do is click on add image.
08:54And I'm going to add an image from my computer.
08:57Okay, so I just added an image of, this was a screenshot taken from one of my recent videos.
09:05I was playing, this is from Pokemon Blue version.
09:08And I made a video about Retro Boy, which is able to play Game Boy games in a browser.
09:14So, I just added that image.
09:21And the image is above.
09:23So, that is an image from Pokemon Blue version.
09:29And I'm going to show you one more image, another image.
09:36Okay, so this is an image I added.
09:41This was, this was an image made from, I can't remember which video I made.
09:47Maybe it was made from Grok or from Microsoft Copilot.
09:53I can't remember.
09:54But anyway, so I just added another, another image I made from another video, for another video.
10:00And yeah, so you can add images.
10:04And so far I've gone over check boxes.
10:07And then, one of the cool features is they have the option to have a drawing.
10:17I want to show you what a drawing looks like.
10:19You can add drawing.
10:22And this is kind of cool because you can kind of do freestyle drawing.
10:29You have like a marker, different markers.
10:32You've got an eraser.
10:34This is not really something I really use much at all, ever.
10:41But I think it's cool.
10:43Cool notes.
10:46So if you have the desire to draw something, you can have it go back and it basically adds it kind of like an image.
11:01And then you can add text here.
11:06A drawing, some text for the drawing.
11:15Okay.
11:16Now, what I want to do is show you about pinning comments.
11:28So I mentioned here already, you see here this says pinned.
11:32And then this is other.
11:34So what pinning does is it takes a note and it actually puts it at the top.
11:39So if you click on this pin note, notice that it will jump to the top.
11:46And so you could have many, many rows.
11:50This can be very useful, especially if you have many different rows of notes.
11:54For example, like this.
11:58Okay, I'm going to put those at the bottom.
12:04Let's say that, okay, there's, I haven't actually made many notes for this video, but let's say you had hundreds of notes.
12:12This could be a great way to get things to jump right to the top.
12:16And if you want to unpin it, go like that and it's very useful.
12:21And again, this is moving stuff around.
12:23Moving stuff around is very, can be very helpful, very useful.
12:27You can't move stuff around between the pinned and unpinned, but within each category, you can move it around.
12:37I think that's quite useful.
12:42Okay, so I'm running short of time for this video.
12:46I wanted to show you some other important features.
12:49So first is archiving.
12:54So this can be useful, especially if you have lots of notes.
12:59Let's say you have hundreds of notes, but you don't want to delete them.
13:02This is a way to organize, basically.
13:05So back to the notes.
13:06You see, I, one of the notes was archived.
13:10It says yet another note.
13:13And, okay, so when you select from the archive, you can actually un-archive it.
13:23If you click in the upper left and there's this button un-archive and it'll go back.
13:32So that's very useful.
13:36So the archiving feature is useful if you have quite a lot.
13:40And then, of course, if you have a note and you want to actually delete it, you can.
13:44You can go to delete note like this.
13:48And it will go to the trash.
13:50And the trash, it says it's, they're deleted after seven days.
13:55But you can actually choose to delete them immediately.
13:57Okay, and if you want to have a note that's shared with others, you can actually do that with this button.
14:10The, where is it, add a collaborator.
14:15Yeah, this one you can add a collaborator.
14:18I've never done this, but that's a way to actually share the note.
14:21Because I've only ever used this for my own stuff.
14:26And then, this is a cool feature.
14:28You can actually send it to Google Docs.
14:31And I'll show you, it says copy to Google Docs.
14:34So you can just click on this.
14:36And it will actually open a Google Doc.
14:39It will send it to Google Docs.
14:42Okay, you can click Open Doc.
14:44And I think it's a really cool feature.
14:46So you can basically make a Google Doc from your note.
14:49Okay, I hope you enjoyed this video.
14:51If you enjoyed it, I'd appreciate if you could subscribe to my channel or follow it.
14:55See you in the next one, and thank you.
