00:00I really hope you've been enjoying all of the action from Ossiek and I'm very
00:04grateful to you for your company my name is Oli Hogben and I'll be talking you
00:08through the remainder of the finals today but don't let that put you off it's a
00:14lovely event this isn't it looks the part it's got a great crowd and being
00:22moved from the challenge cup level up a tier or each part of a tier if you will
00:30because it's still part of the overall World Cup calendar but it's gone from
00:34being world a challenge cup to World Cup it then means that it's even more
00:39enticing a prospect for the very top gymnasts to come and attend it so anyone
00:44who's qualified for any of these finals already they've done a grand job in
00:48what's a record-breaking year of attendance for this competition
00:57back in 2017 she was a runner-up at the European Championships on this
01:02apparatus now at the age of 26 a top qualifier
01:18we just caught a glimpse there of a 15 year old from Malaysia
01:44Cadence who's very focused on the Southeast Asian Games
01:50Jennifer Williams of Sweden
01:55gymnast who made several finals in World Cup competition as part of the Olympic
02:05qualification process had a really good go at trying to get to Paris
02:11I know there are many of you out there watching who are enormous fans of the young Swedish
02:26gymnast on account of the just air of finesse and flair that she brings to all that she does
02:34the first finalist representing Austria the 23 year old is from Innsbruck
02:46and she has competed at three European championships three world championships
02:51the national champion on the uneven bars she participated in the vault final year of Austria
02:55the 23 year old is from Innsbruck and she has competed at three European championships
03:01three world championships the national champion on the uneven bars
03:05the national champion on the uneven bars
03:12she participated in the vault final yesterday let's see how she goes
03:20oh what a confident beginning that was
03:23oh what a confident beginning that was
03:27oh
03:50This is the performance of a gymnast who is absolutely going for it.
04:02The choreographic elements are bold, they are well at peace with the rest of the routine.
04:12She's had a couple of tough holds like all turns there, she also had that with her acrobatic
04:17series earlier on, but she's really clamped down on her position.
04:33It's not a tentative display.
04:37What a nice start.
04:40That's a very compelling way to begin a balance beam final.
04:43Zelina Kickinger of Austria kicking it off and kicking it off very tidily.
04:50You just sensed right from the mount that she was on song.
04:59Even here, it's a strange thing, but I don't know about you, I didn't think for a moment
05:03she was going to come off even though there was a little adjustment.
05:07She seemed to be absolutely secure of how to make those adjustments.
05:13The side saw me that was much more in line.
05:27Got close to bringing the legs up to horizontal.
05:34And twisted round with purpose to finish.
05:42Does lose a little clarity of form in the twist positions and leg separation.
05:52But very well performed.
05:59No surprise that's better than qualification.
06:1513.066.
06:18She's gained almost two tenths.
06:22Here is the top qualifier.
06:2913.9.
06:31The silver medalist at the European Championships in 2017.
06:36One of four medals that she's won on the continental stage.
06:57What a poised and fluid beginning.
06:59Really got the legs up to horizontal there.
07:15Some nice work.
07:16Quickly into the turn.
07:18It's lovely, you get these little balletic positions thrown in, a classical arabesque.
07:39The whole thing has got a style and performative quality to it.
07:54Free walk over into another good jump where the legs go towards horizontal with purpose.
08:04It's going to be very interesting to see how close she can get to that qualification score because her execution was huge in the preliminary round.
08:21Really nicely performed that from Ettore Torsdottir.
08:31It was one of the lower scoring routines in terms of difficulty during qualifying but the execution was an 8.6.
08:39And that was overwhelmingly the highest execution score.
08:46So there are gymnasts to come who will be able to post higher difficulty but there was just a great deal of clarity to this performance from the experienced gymnast from Rotterdam.
09:02You have to go back to Ljubljana in 2015 for World Cup honours for Torsdottir.
09:15...
09:41And then lovely to see, actually in slow motion, some of the choreography because it shows the level of detail in what the arms and the hands are doing.
10:00Gets around with no issues at all, twisting to the dismount.
10:05There we go, she's done it again.
10:14That is such a strong display, 13.9, the execution is down at 10th, the difficulty is up at 10th.
10:20The third finalist is the President of Malaysia, third finalist representing Malaysia, Teh Kedis Zici.
10:27Kedis Teh Zici of Malaysia, the eighth best in qualifying. Congratulations to her on winning the Malaysia Games All-Around title last year.
10:39And Beam was crucial to her success. She scored 13.45 on Beam, which was the best by 1.2 of all of her routines.
10:48So we're very privileged to get to see her on what is something of a signature apparatus.
11:02How nicely done.
11:11Good save.
11:12Good save.
11:28Just perhaps had a moment of hesitation coming out of the walkover.
11:33Again, what a poised save that was.
11:44It was quite piked and in danger of coming off the apparatus, but she made light of it.
11:48She made light of it.
12:09There was a newspaper article written about Kedis Teh after her triumph at the Malaysia Games.
12:14And the essence of it was she's very humble. She's quite quiet, but you must never for a second doubt the ferocity, the determination inside her.
12:27And I think we saw that in that display there. This is a big moment for her first World Cup competition.
12:34She's made the final and she went out and delivered an extremely impressive performance.
12:42Only 15 as well.
12:45Jolly well done.
12:48Jolly well done.
12:49Jolly well done.
12:50Jolly well done.
12:51Jolly well done.
12:55All of those adjustments are naturally going to cost.
13:20All of those adjustments are naturally going to cost her execution.
13:27You might have just seen there, beyond the line of her head, the Malaysian delegation in the crowd watching on and breathing every moment of that.
13:40There they are, sitting on the steps.
13:47Well done to her.
13:5312.866 in qualification.
13:58And it is now extremely clear how it was she won that title at the Malaysia Games with the
14:16Malaysia Games with Beam being so integral to it.
14:1912.533.
14:21It is a little drop from qualifying but that is a very credible first full international final.
14:27Now to Sweden's Jenefa Williams.
14:40The third strongest in qualification with 13.8.
14:47But the difficulty in the preliminary round was 6.2.
14:52So she certainly has room to challenge the lead.
15:07Oh great save.
15:12Made light of that.
15:14A trickier one.
15:24But this is so compelling to watch.
15:31That was some fine stability in the wolf turns.
15:37Regrettably.
15:38There are just a few little moments here and there that are.
15:54Probably adding up from an execution point of view.
16:19Oh what a dismount.
16:26It certainly had moments that were brilliant.
16:29It did have some execution issues.
16:32She did superbly to stay on the apparatus.
16:35It's a bold performance in terms of what she's actually packing into that routine.
16:42And she's another gymnast who's been on the radar for such a long time that we run the risk of forgetting that she is only 19 years of age.
16:56So she's in the younger crop of gymnasts in this final.
17:03She's going to be a fine acquisition to the American collegiate scene.
17:19It's due to happen in the next year or so.
17:26It's due to happen in the next year or so.
17:28It's due to happen in the next year or so.
17:34It's due to the second year or so.
17:37This is the second year of Impressors
17:39and it's due to the first three people.
17:41It's due to the next.
17:42It's due to this one at all.
17:43One at the beginning is stealing them.
17:45One at the beginning is getting it over and over.
17:46One at the beginning is the second time.
17:49We wait for the next generation.
17:50There you are no doubt the difficulty will be a lot higher than Toulson.
17:54It's no doubt that the difficulty is going to be a lot higher than Tours Dottier.
18:0813.3 for Yennefer Williams.
18:12She is in second place.
18:15Difficulty 6.1, so as expected, 7 tenths higher than Tours Dottier,
18:20but not quite as high as qualification.
18:23Just one tenth down.
18:30So it is Tours Dottier, Williams and Kickinger, who are 1, 2 and 3.
18:36And Tours Dottier has delivered a performance that is going to be very hard to surpass.
18:41But Jayla Hang is coming up and she'll have a real go at it.
18:44It's lovely that we get to begin the second half of this final
18:50with the reigning Commonwealth Games champion on beam.
18:51It's lovely that we get to begin the second half of this final with the reigning Commonwealth Games champion on beam.
19:16We then go to a Pacific Rim medallist on the apparatus.
19:28Then to somebody who has a fine collection of Nordic championship honours
19:33and somebody who is a European championship medalist.
19:38And someone who is a European championship medalist.
19:38And someone who is a European championship medalist.
19:40Kate MacDonald of Australia won bronze on the uneven bars yesterday.
19:54Kate MacDonald of Australia won bronze on the uneven bars yesterday.
20:08But now she attacks this final as the reigning Commonwealth Games champion on beam.
20:17The very experienced and much respected gymnast from East Melbourne in Victoria
20:23competed at the Olympic Games in Paris.
20:26She, like the gymnast who will go after her, is a Pacific Rim championships medalist too.
20:40She mounts the apparatus with control.
20:4313.1 in qualification.
20:59That was the fourth best.
21:02There's a sharpness to this display from MacDonald.
21:12There's a sharpness to this display from MacDonald.
21:15Oh, and regrettably, a little oscillation on the horizontal axis in those wolf turns eventually took her off.
21:31Very minute.
21:34She's a gymnast with so much experience that getting straight back on the apparatus like nothing happened.
21:47It must just be completely ingrained and intuitive.
21:53It was a very well-performed display that from Kate MacDonald.
22:05Unfortunate that she came off on the wolf turns.
22:08But she does depart this weekend of competition as a World Cup medalist.
22:14Let's look back at it.
22:27Switch leap mount was right on line.
22:35A small balance adjustment coming out of the aerial.
22:40You can't even move and do it again.
22:42Like that, you can't do it.
22:43You can't do it.
22:44You can't bend it.
22:45In a way you can't do it.
22:46You can't do it.
22:47You can't do it.
22:48You can't do it.
22:49You can't do it.
22:50You can't do it.
22:51I can't do it.
22:52It's not easy.
22:53How can we do it?
22:55That's right.
22:56You can't do it.
22:57Nothing.
22:58I'll eat a live night sandwich and it's okay.
22:59We're here for the first awesome chorus.
23:01Thanks for joining us for the second final day in Osir.
23:05We hope you enjoy the fourth one.
23:07We hope to see you again next year because we will be the official competition for the World Cup and Olympic Games.
23:17Here's the moment where just a little slip and away she went.
23:23It's always so marginal, especially on BIM.
23:37Here's the moment where we are at the first place.
23:41Half of the options, but it's not good.
23:44If it's not good enough, it would be 3-0.
23:49Let's see, we'll see.
23:5412-133, 2nd position.
23:56Good play for Antonovovic.
23:58Kate Macdonald picks up a score of 12.133 and she's in fifth position.
24:20Jayla Hang of the United States of America scored 13.8 in the preliminary round, the second best.
24:28Jayla Hang.
24:30Bronze medalist at the Pacific Rim Championships last year in what was such a strong first senior outing on that stage.
24:44Candle Mount to begin, always gets appreciation from the crowd.
24:49It's one of those things you can guarantee in any gymnastics competition.
24:53It will get pretty much the same gasp wherever in the world you are.
24:58What a good start this is.
25:11Inside Ariel, well performed.
25:13She attacks every aspect of this.
25:17There is nothing tentative.
25:19Oh, yes!
25:30Come off it.
25:30That is cracking.
25:32I think we've got somebody who is planning on disrupting the podium as it currently lies.
25:57Marvellous double pike to conclude.
26:02She is ever such an exciting prospect.
26:10From Washington State and the Pacific Northwest, Jayla Hang.
26:15Washington State and the Pacific Northwest, Jayla Hang.
26:18I'm going to be final.
26:22I'm going to be final.
26:24Yes!
26:26Let's go.
26:29Let'ss enjoy this and my word there's a lot to enjoy about it.
26:42Very nice form in the Candle Mount.
26:44The arch at the back lends a sense of balletic grace to it.
26:48aligned in the wolf turns this is particularly exciting because she's
27:06going off axis if you will there is that twisting of the body in the tuck
27:10position which must make for a real challenge in staying in line
27:25still keeps the toes pointed as she jumps
27:35difficulty in qualifying was 5.7 we contrast that with the 5.4 we've seen in this final from tours dot here
27:51so if hank can get a little increase in her execution score from the preliminary round then
27:55she's going to make a run for top spot but either way that was excellent
28:05and she knows it she's been around long enough to recognize a quality performance when she sees one
28:15oh so close 13.766
28:20jay lahang in the silver medal position by only just over a tenth of a mark
28:26tours dot here holds on williams into third and we have two still to come
28:35from finland the teenager maissa kusiko
28:47the seventh finalist representing finland maissa kusiko
28:55she's mostly performed on the uneven bars since
28:57a knee issue a while ago but more and more the beam has been creeping back into her work
29:04and it's great to see she's very strong on this piece
29:08her difficulty in qualifying was 4.8 that would be the lowest of anything we've seen so far
29:15she did well to adjust there not as intended the mount
29:19as i was saying it would be the lowest of anything we've seen so far
29:23so a lot will come down to the crispness of the execution
29:38so
29:44that was very close to going a bit out of control and the transition back to standing looked slightly
30:07uncomfortable
30:21but otherwise this has been
30:26a most assured performance
30:28uh that's a lovely dismount for maissa kusiko
30:42that's got to be one of the most secure conclusions to a beam routine we've had in this final
30:55the 19 year old
31:05as we look back at her performance
31:08she's been a national championship medalist on every apparatus
31:15certainly best known internationally for
31:17a very exciting uneven bars work and we saw the evidence of that yesterday
31:25she did ever so well to study that
31:39she did ever so well to study that
31:45the execution in qualifying was 8.166 it will be
32:12interesting to look at that in the light of this performance
32:21these little moments here and there of
32:25struggle with clarity
32:29it's likely to be a fair bit lower
32:31except on that lovely dismount
32:3912.3 and indeed yes the execution has dropped by well over half a mark close to three quarters
32:45now we go to the last performer
32:52so
32:52so
32:53he thought of tours dotted and jay lahang guaranteed a place on the podium
32:57jennifer williams waits to see
32:59what will be produced by naomi fisser who
33:02scored 13.033 in qualification
33:05which is about a quarter of a mark below
33:09that which is currently required for bronze
33:20we are going to be guessing right the way to the conclusion
33:23that could be significant though
33:40gets it back together nicely with that side somersault
33:50well that has likely solidified the podium
34:10so much of what's gone on around it though in this routine from naomi viscera has been
34:14very precise and composed and good to watch
34:20as it so often is with her
34:24she's what one might call now a young veteran at 23 with the amount of competition experience she's had
34:32cemented by making it into the top 10 in the all-around competition at the olympics
34:44and that brings to a close this very enjoyable beam final at the osiek world cup
34:57regrettably for naomi viscera she will take a full mark deduction
35:01but she's another of the crop of gymnasts for whom this is the start of the next stage of their processes
35:13some of the athletes who didn't make it to paris naturally began effectively their training for the
35:21next olympic games earlier than a lot of other gymnasts did because those who majored the olympics by and large
35:29have had a little rest period after it they've had the opportunity to perhaps complete their studies to
35:37do some traveling to just spend time with loved ones and catch up on that which happens outside of a
35:45training gym so everyone is almost embarking upon the race at different stages
35:53there are some who are almost responding to the starter's gun here in osiek and there are others who are
36:00already well and truly on lap one
36:05the other ones that will be known to be found outside of the field in other countries
36:07the other countries who our cast and the other countries will take place
36:11just as we can eat in the same way
36:13there is a big way that we have to agree with you
36:15and that we have said to be in the same way
36:17there is a big way to everyday
36:19as a way I do not go through the main event
36:21as well
36:22but with us
36:23I can see you
36:25A Dutch champion was guaranteed anyway before the start of the routine.
36:4010.8 is Naomi Visser's score and that brings to a close this beam final.
36:57And a hugely special moment for a gymnast whose only other World Cup medal was a gold one in Ljubljana in 2015.
37:06How's that for longevity?
37:09We absolutely deserve it.
37:16She works out what to do with the water bottle.
37:18Let's have a look back at how she won the gold medal.
37:20She certainly knew what to do with this beam routine.
37:26Congratulations.
37:28Mishka to 13.9.
37:30No, no, no, no.
37:34Super.
37:40Dina, we're ready to go.
37:41What are you thinking about today?
37:44Today we have a great deal.
37:48There's another gracious thing about which we'll have to talk about.
37:53Especially about the artisticity.
37:55And here we have a voice.
37:56The classified results in the Women's Beam competition.
38:12Bronze won by Jennifer Williams of Sweden.
38:15The silver medal goes to Jane Le Hang of the USA.
38:18And the gold to Ettore Torsdottir of the Netherlands.
38:20Dina, my critic, shall I go.
38:21He told me to say they've come out.
38:22Hmm.
38:23Hurling, how is it?
