00:00So my name is Dave Treadwell, I live in Stratford-upon-Avon. I've been training and
00:09teaching in Shotokan Karate for the last 41 years. I'm current England Karate
00:14President and also hold World, European and British titles. In total I have
00:21approximately about 190 podium finishes over the 41 years of teaching and
00:26training. It was about three o'clock in the morning, my wife woke up again to the
00:31ring door bar and the camera going off. She looked out the window and she could
00:35see an individual outside the front of the house. So at this time she woke me up
00:41I decided to try and take chase. So what I'd done, when I got changed, quickly
00:47ran outside the front of the door and chased the individual. After I caught up
00:52with the individual. I retained him until the police turned up and there was a
00:57warrant out for the individual's arrest. At the time I'd just done it on instinct.
01:02I'm not telling any other individuals to do this type of thing. You know I've been
01:06training in Karate for 41 years so I hope to think that I know how to look after
01:11myself. In the heat of the moment it was just one of them things that I thought was
01:15the best thing to do and reacted and I just wanted to make sure that friends,
01:18family and individuals understand that you know there are people out there that
01:23are trying to break into our vehicles on our houses etc and I'm just trying to do
01:27the best I can to support us and others.
