00:00This week we're getting down to business as our designers transform office spaces in Bristol.
00:24Stand back, Lord Sugar. Alan Demerara's in town. And this mummy's boy is now a money boy.
00:32It's my MD. Michelle Darling.
00:38She wants to touch base, crunch my digits and examine my bottom line.
00:43I'm phoning HR. And my mum. Welcome to Interior Design Masters.
00:49No, you're fired.
00:50Nine designers remain as they compete for the chance to win a collaboration contract for a range with John Lewis.
01:00Last time.
01:02Oh, isn't it a little slay.
01:03Our budding designers went wild in Windermere.
01:06I think this is the first time I've gone shopping in a forest.
01:10Expressing their signature style on youth hostel bunk rooms.
01:14Is it going to look a bit mad? Is it going to look too much?
01:17Rita literally brought the outside in.
01:20I'm turning skip to sexy.
01:23And one standout space.
01:26Victoria showed off a contemporary luxe style.
01:29This space is going to be a flower explosion.
01:32But miss the brief.
01:34It's not quite enough youth hostel.
01:37Emma drew on her art teacher skills.
01:39I'm going to have steam coming out of my sewing machine.
01:42Too much craft.
01:43Let's just focus on the design.
01:45And Essay.
01:46I think I have a few rough edges.
01:48Overlooked the main feature of a hostel.
01:51It's just all gone a bit wrong on the bed.
01:53And yet the bed is the reason that you book the room.
01:56So was the first to leave the competition.
01:59Make me proud.
02:00We did it!
02:13We did it!
02:16Offices this week.
02:17I mean, this should be my 40.
02:19But the pressure.
02:20Oh, the pressure.
02:21We're back.
02:22We're back.
02:23No more bunk beds.
02:24Two.
02:25Here we are again.
02:26Yeah.
02:27Lots to prove.
02:28Last week was really good because I had the standout space.
02:32I think I need to be leaving myself a bit more this week.
02:35And go for it.
02:36How are we feeling?
02:37No, I'm not.
02:38I feel good.
02:38Very refreshed.
02:39Fresh.
02:40So last week on the sofa, I learned that I put too much pressure on myself.
02:44I'm glad I have that feeling.
02:46Oh, that's good.
02:47That's good.
02:47So this week, I'm putting more pressure on the trade.
02:52So if you're my trade guys, this next challenge, watch out.
02:56Go on, Emma.
02:57Go on.
02:59Hi, guys.
03:01Hello.
03:01Hello.
03:02Hello.
03:03As it's week two, we're going to have to get down to business.
03:07So pop on your out of office because you're heading to Bristol where you'll be transforming
03:12some office spaces of the future.
03:15On a building site in Bristol, a modern business district is rising from the rubble of the
03:25historical home of British Concord.
03:30Our nine designers must use sustainable materials and upcycled furniture to transform a repurposed
03:38shipping container into a modern office for a small creative company.
03:45Renovating a shipping container into the sort of office that will tempt people away from
03:50working from home is the perfect way to dive into the idea of sustainability.
03:55And to help Michelle judge this week is a designer who's going to feel right at home in your spaces.
04:01He's the eco-friendly design king, Max McMurdo.
04:06Oh.
04:07Max will be joining us later when it's decided who will win standout space and who will be going home.
04:13But before all that, you've got to impress this boss.
04:17You've got two days and a budget of £1,300.
04:21Good luck.
04:22See you in Bristol.
04:25I've been in retail a long time, so I have unloaded a lot of containers.
04:31I've never stopped to look around to think, hmm, what would I do in here?
04:34I'm feeling a bit nervous about this week, just because I've never worked in the office before.
04:41But my boyfriend, he loves watching The Office on teller.
04:44They do a little dance on The Office, yeah.
04:46In North Bristol, slap bang next to Concord.
04:58Wow.
04:59It's such an iconic plane, isn't it?
05:01It's incredible.
05:02The designers have arrived at the emerging business district, made from 40-foot shipping containers.
05:08Our designers have a lot to consider in this challenge.
05:11You've got a box that's narrow and long.
05:15It's clad in OSB.
05:17Bye, guys.
05:17Hey, bye.
05:18Have fun.
05:19You too.
05:20It's the fanciest-looking container I've ever been in, already.
05:24That's a good start, isn't it?
05:26I'm asking them to really source materials.
05:28Yeah, this is cool.
05:30This is really cool.
05:30And to investigate what they're made of, because that's really crucial.
05:34The nine designers have had to come up with an imaginary client to help theme their office.
05:39Who's your client?
05:40Skateboarding magazine.
05:42Because my client is an online magazine.
05:44Oh, no way.
05:45Bring on the magazine competition.
05:51To help turn a box into an enticing place to work, each designer has a decorator and a carpenter.
05:59Hello.
06:00Hi, how are you doing?
06:01Emma is designing her office for an arts charity.
06:06I was thinking about Concord and I was thinking about flight.
06:09So then I sort of latched on to the idea of a spaceship.
06:12Right, we're going to take you through the plans.
06:14Yeah.
06:14If I sum it up, I want it to look like an art gallery in a spaceship.
06:19Excellent.
06:21Emma's imagined spaceship will be colour-drenched light blue,
06:24and she'll be displaying her own colourful artworks in her gallery-inspired office.
06:30Four desks will face the walls with plywood waves above them.
06:36The end of the office will be a warm, yellow meeting space with an upcycled chandelier
06:41and semi-circular sofa made out of second-hand chairs.
06:45I was on the sofa last week, but it's not a place I want to go back to this week,
06:50so I really want to nail it.
06:53OK.
06:53On this first day.
06:54Take me to the blue paint.
06:55Let's go.
06:59While Emma gets started with her blue sky thinking...
07:03Morning.
07:04Morning.
07:04Rita has grand plans for a bespoke workstation for her imaginary magazine company.
07:10So the plan for this office space is to have a curved desk in here
07:16that goes all the way four metres this way, so they can all work together.
07:21And then these staircase spindles, they'll be the legs.
07:24OK.
07:24I hope they're going to work.
07:26My inspiration was to create a space for four women that all work for an online magazine
07:32that tell women's stories.
07:34I'm all in.
07:35Upcycled chic.
07:37Upcycled chic.
07:38That's what I'm doing.
07:39It is important to me because personally, you know, I lived two wars
07:43and moved different countries, four countries.
07:46And it would be nice to have a place where women feel safe to share their stories.
07:51Tim!
07:52Thank you!
07:55We're going a bit colourful this time.
07:57I'm taking inspiration from the razzle-dazzle patterns.
07:59What is the razzle-dazzle?
08:00So the razzle-dazzle camouflage was, like, used back in the day
08:04to confuse the enemy on what way the ship was going.
08:08Learn something new every day.
08:09Yeah.
08:09You do.
08:10You're out of the shipping container.
08:11Ships.
08:12Shipping container.
08:13Makes sense.
08:14Yeah.
08:15Yeah.
08:15Bradley aims to dazzle by framing his entranceway
08:22with black-and-white striped wallpaper and a checkerboard lino.
08:27He's designed four brand-new desks to be attached to the walls.
08:32He'll decorate the furniture in bold colours
08:35and paint colourful motifs on the walls and ceilings.
08:39My desks are going to be a divisor and two shelves.
08:44So essentially it looks like a plane, if that makes sense.
08:46Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
08:48And what material are we going to use for this?
08:50MTS.
08:51Okay.
08:51Yeah.
08:51Down the corridor, Aisha and Bryony are keen to get the measure
08:55of what neighbour Craig has planned.
08:58Oh, hello.
08:59Well, hello.
09:00Right?
09:01Hey.
09:01Oh, this looks great.
09:03This is nice, Craig.
09:04Right, talk us through it.
09:05What have we got?
09:05Well, so we've got a kind of a cool 70s design vibe.
09:09Lovely colours.
09:09So I've got this, you know, the classic 70s sexy stripe.
09:13Oh, I love that.
09:14It's going to go all the way down, up there and across the ceiling.
09:18Oh, it's brilliant.
09:19Down the other side.
09:20Yeah.
09:20So how come you're doing your desks at an angle like that?
09:24It's really cool.
09:24I didn't want to face the wall.
09:26Yeah.
09:26That's, personally, I've been in offices where you face the wall.
09:29It's a bit depressing.
09:30I'm actually doing my desk facing the wall.
09:32Yes.
09:32Are you?
09:33Oh, that's all.
09:33Yes.
09:36Yes, I am.
09:36Yeah.
09:37I didn't want a desk shape.
09:40But you have.
09:41It's about half.
09:41Yeah.
09:42Yeah.
09:43My designs are simplistic and I think I can really easily get freaked out
09:47when I see other people's designs
09:48and I see how the big builds and what they're doing.
09:51And so I just need to channel into me and stick to, like, what I believe I'm good at.
09:56My partner and I started a home and giftware business.
10:01We had some bricks and mortar stores that went online, which left me without that creative physical outlet.
10:09So I've been waiting for an opportunity like this to come along.
10:13Welcome aboard, guys.
10:18We're going to try and create a bit of a Concord theme in here.
10:23I've used the Concord to help me create zones within my office that gives you that inspiration
10:30and that nod to where we are.
10:33All the painting, we're going aeroplane white, touches of navy and reds and some brass from
10:38the pilot's cap.
10:39It's going to be good.
10:40Nice.
10:40I like it.
10:41Let's go.
10:42To the work, babe.
10:43Thank you, babe.
10:43The first job on the designer's list is to get some colour on the walls.
10:50I've got 30 litres of white paint, so it's just a little bit of painting to do, just a little bit.
10:58While Bryony's office goes all white...
11:01I'm only going to paint the ceiling.
11:04Holly's walls will be completely bare.
11:07Design-wise, we're going 1960s space age.
11:11Maybe we're trying to make it look like it's kind of been forgotten about for 50 years,
11:15like when Austin Powers got frozen.
11:18Then he got defrosted and he was like, what, where am I?
11:20But all his lighthouse had stayed the same, so a bit like that.
11:28If my personality was a room, it'd probably look like my caravan,
11:32because I've literally done all that up with everything that I like, not listened to anyone.
11:36I think my dream interior design job would be working on, like, layouts for...
11:41camper vans and boats and stuff.
11:43I think that sounds really cool.
11:46Holly!
11:46Yes?
11:48I've got some bad news.
11:49Oh, go on, then.
11:50We need more paint.
11:51Ah!
11:53It's OK.
11:53What have you got left in your budget?
11:54I've got £10, and that'd be all.
11:57You only need another two and a half litres.
11:59OK.
12:00How much should you get in a normal tub?
12:01Two and a half litres.
12:03Oh, yeah, OK.
12:03And if you can get it for £10, you're lucky.
12:08OK.
12:09Right, leave it with me.
12:10I'll sort it.
12:12Oh, so I didn't buy enough paint, so I might have to sacrifice from it.
12:20£18?
12:22I paid £8 plus that at my place.
12:25Yeah?
12:26Right, so I need to sell something for £9 and then have enough money.
12:33Plant.
12:34Get rid of a plant.
12:37Sounds like the designers need some help managing their spreadsheets.
12:42Good job I packed me file effects.
12:44I stumbled out a bit and I stumbled to the kitchen.
12:48Where to, love?
12:49925 Parton Street.
12:52Go as fast as you can.
12:53My boss is expecting me.
12:55925.
12:57What a way to make a living.
12:59Thanks, darling.
13:00Me feet were killing me.
13:03I've come to Bristol to see how our designers are getting on.
13:07And as it's off this week, I thought I'd dole myself up a bit.
13:11Hey, put that drill away.
13:12Guys, my face is up here.
13:17Now, where's those designs?
13:23Stoopy cup of ambition.
13:26What a way to make a living.
13:35So, where do we start?
13:37The key elements for this brief is putting sustainability into every design that you do.
13:42So, I managed to pick up this drum kit.
13:44I'm going to do a wee bit of upcycling.
13:46So, this might look like a drum kit to you, but it's going to happen for new life as a coffee table.
13:50I'm a project manager for a commercial property company.
13:58So, on a day-to-day, I'm usually developing very industrial properties.
14:03I then got the amazing opportunity to design an office for the company I work for.
14:07And from there, I really feel like it is my passion.
14:14Victoria!
14:15Hello, Alan.
14:16What?
14:16Who's your client?
14:17Animal from the Muppets?
14:18So, I'm going for somebody in the music industry, maybe, like, an events management company, something like that.
14:26Ah, and how much did this cost?
14:29£10, full drum kit.
14:30Where did you get all this stuff?
14:32A man's garage in Dumfries.
14:34I travelled a bit to get it, but it was cheap, so...
14:37Your room last week was stunning.
14:40It was beautiful, but you didn't listen to the client.
14:43Oh, I know.
14:44It was too bougie and less backpackery.
14:46That's one thing I've learnt from being on the sofa last week.
14:50Just need to think about the end user.
14:51Right, well, I'll leave you to it.
14:52Drum roll, please!
14:55Yeah!
14:55Bye!
14:56Bye!
14:57Bye!
14:58Bye!
15:03So, this should, hopefully, if my measurement's right...
15:07Phil?
15:08Nothing there.
15:09Steve, I mean, rock and roll!
15:11Pencil?
15:12Oh!
15:12The curve.
15:13Draw your curve, now.
15:14Yeah, OK.
15:16The main design of the desk is to have this curve right, so, fingers crossed, I haven't made it too small.
15:24I'm a visual merchandising expert.
15:26I build the layout of the store, the window dressing, and just to make it a great experience for the customers.
15:33OK.
15:34Let me see.
15:35That's fine.
15:35Thank you so much.
15:36I'll just meet it up a little bit.
15:38Yes, please.
15:38OK?
15:39Rita's desk might be big, but John's planning something even bigger.
15:44I've got my pride and joy, which is going to be my amazing meeting table.
15:48It's massive and really heavy.
15:50It's a piece of, kind of, industrial furniture.
15:52Thanks.
15:53Oh, yeah!
15:54So, I'm going to need, like, a crew of people to get this out of here.
15:56Right, we're doing it.
15:58I am probably taking a risk in the huge collaborative desk.
16:01Have it to you.
16:02Have it!
16:03You all right?
16:04It's a big piece.
16:06I've planned a lot of furniture for this.
16:07You know, my carpenter is going to be pushed really hard this week.
16:11So, that is a risk.
16:16Whoop, whoop, whoop.
16:17It's big.
16:17You can get round it, just.
16:19Yeah.
16:19Yeah, we can get round it.
16:21Yeah, I think that works.
16:23One of my concerns at the moment is that it's potentially going to be too big.
16:26I can't do anything about the size of the dolly.
16:28That's obviously a reclaimed piece.
16:31If it is too big, I'm going to have to make changes to my design.
16:34John's giant desk will sit at the back of his office, complete with storage for stools, plans and paperwork.
16:42A black and white mural inspired by his architect client will be painted across all the walls.
16:49He's hand-decorating four desks made from pieces of reclaimed office furniture and installing a partition to create an entranceway.
17:03It's all right, mate.
17:04Yeah.
17:04Come, look at this.
17:05You know who's going?
17:07Oh, wait.
17:08Is it a bird?
17:09Is it a...
17:10It literally looks like a plane.
17:12We're clear to take off.
17:13Take it upstairs.
17:14Come on, then.
17:14Yeah.
17:14So I do content creation for a living.
17:18I upload videos on social media of many DIY hacks and upcycles.
17:23I would describe myself as a DIY Derek.
17:25I'm very creative and I love getting the look for less.
17:29I would love to be known for colour, pattern and creating fun, playful spaces.
17:37Wow.
17:40Up we go.
17:41Let's go for the way.
17:41This is Byzantine Voxworks and it's characterised by these lovely columns, arches, mosaics and polychromatic tiles.
17:53I've designed my own wallpaper and fabric for the space and it's kind of a little interpretation on the polychromatic Byzantine tiles.
18:00And colourful wallpaper isn't the only thing Aisha's turned her hand to.
18:05Aisha, what's going on?
18:07You need to explain.
18:08Yeah, I do.
18:09What is this?
18:10So this is an old oil drum and I'm kind of upcycling it with old broken tiles, like a terrazzo effect, tabletop.
18:17And the word that Michelle kept going on about is sustainability.
18:21Now this is definitely sustainability.
18:23That's sustainable, isn't it?
18:24I mean, that is an old drum with some broken tiles.
18:27And what is this?
18:28Black grout.
18:28This is black grout, yeah.
18:29I feel like that's going to really lift it a little bit, obviously, in keeping with the rest of my design.
18:35That's getting quite pongy now.
18:36I'm going to go.
18:37All right, okay.
18:38See you later.
18:38Bye.
18:39Bye, see you.
18:43Emma is also getting creative.
18:46Bristol's famous for a hot air balloon festival that it has, which I've been to, which is visually just so stunning.
18:52So I wanted to just do a painting that was a nod to all of that, bring a bit of joy to a box.
19:03So these two mirrors will create the centre for our breakout space.
19:08Okay.
19:08So the other one will be directly opposite.
19:10Yeah.
19:10Okay.
19:13Craig is trying to create a 70-seating area from second-hand finds.
19:20Oh, Jesus.
19:21There's a gobbins-y thing out there.
19:23I don't know what that is.
19:25It's in the way, though.
19:26I think it's Wi-Fi.
19:27Oh, no one needs Wi-Fi.
19:29It's the 1970s.
19:30You just send it.
19:31You just write a letter.
19:33My mirrors won't fit in where I want them to be, and it's just really boring.
19:37You plan your design.
19:39You want it to be as you planned it, but life's not like that, is there?
19:42We're seeking perfection in an imperfect world.
19:46See, that's not too bad, is it?
19:47I think it's all right.
19:48Yeah.
19:49Maybe it would have been a bit heavy, like, internal.
19:51Yeah, you would have this infinite mirror.
19:52Wouldn't really annoy him.
19:53So I think, uh, thank you to the Wi-Fi gods for putting a router there.
20:03With only £1,300 to overhaul each office...
20:07Hey!
20:08Hello!
20:08Emma's had to think clever about her seating.
20:11Oh, great.
20:12The pads are off.
20:13Yes.
20:14So, because, um, curved sofas are hugely expensive, I've, um, picked up five freebies, which are
20:21old waiting room chairs, and I'm converting them into a curved sofa.
20:25It's thrifty and sustainable.
20:27That angle there...
20:29Yeah.
20:29I think that's...
20:30I think that's perfect.
20:31Yeah?
20:32Yeah.
20:32I'll do the same with each.
20:34Perfect.
20:35And then they'll take up the section so I can upholster them in...
20:38In place.
20:38...in situ.
20:39Yep.
20:40Nice one.
20:41OK.
20:41I feel like it's quite ambitious, but it's go big or go home, isn't it?
20:47So I'm going big.
20:49Also going big is Victoria.
20:52OK, so the first thing is the booth placement, and then if you could potentially create me a
20:57nice little wall in between each of them, and then bums on seats will be this way.
21:02We've got a tabletop coming out here, which I've got a sporting leg for there as well.
21:07I managed to pick up the booth seating from a Turkish restaurant in Glasgow.
21:11It'd been sitting in a warehouse for years, and the guy was pleased to get it out of the
21:15way, so I got that as a steal.
21:19As well as booth seating with outward-facing hinged desks, Victoria is going to make wall
21:25lights from old symbols, install a mirrored partition, and build a stand-up meeting desk.
21:31Her bass drum coffee table and snare drum lamp will go in the entranceway to her music-themed
21:38office.
21:39It's lame as for two people to sit on here.
21:42Will two people fit?
21:43Will it fit?
21:44I mean, it'll be cosy.
21:45It's like being on a train with.
21:47Easy.
21:47Or a Turkish restaurant.
21:49Well, where else where they're from?
21:51If we put the first desk round about there, then that's the divider.
21:55Holly has been inspired by the industrial materials in the container for her booths.
22:00I'm well excited to see the dividers.
22:03So, Neil's made the frames, and then we're going to put the strand board over it.
22:07Yeah, it's going to look mint.
22:14These are old reclaimed scaffolding boards.
22:17So, these are going to act as shelves.
22:19So, we've got scaffolding poles to go up into the ceiling to hang stuff off, because they
22:25look pretty industrial.
22:26We're in a shipping container, and they're not cool.
22:36But Brian has landed on a more playful approach to office seating.
22:41Rob?
22:42How do you feel about making a swing?
22:46Okay, I'll give it a go.
22:47I think it would look really pretty, and I do love this rope, and it'll be a lovely feature.
22:52However, I am concerned that Michelle would think, why are you putting a swing in an office?
22:55I like the idea.
22:56You're feeling stressed.
22:58Can't get your mind focused.
22:59You know what?
23:00Let me just have a swing.
23:01Look in the distance.
23:02You don't know.
23:03Idea could come to you while you're swinging on a swing.
23:04Rob sold it, hasn't he?
23:07Rob sold it.
23:08We're doing a swing.
23:09We're doing a swing.
23:09I'll show you what I've got.
23:14It's midway through day one, and things are hotting up.
23:18I'm sweating.
23:20It's the sun.
23:21This ginger skin, you know what I mean?
23:23Jump back.
23:24Yeah.
23:25Okay.
23:27You know, I'm in a vest and shorts, and I'm boiling hot.
23:32Emma is having a go at upholstery for the first time.
23:35I'm cutting these in half so that I can put them on my curved seating and then cover it,
23:44and then it's going to look like a curved sofa seating area.
23:54I'm struggling a little bit.
23:56I've never reupholstered before, and I'm just thinking about the feedback that I had last time.
24:05I don't want to make the same mistakes again.
24:07So, I'm getting rid of that.
24:09I'm going to re-cover these, paint it, and make it look slicker and nicer.
24:19Emma!
24:21Hey!
24:22Is everything going to plan?
24:24No.
24:24Does it ever?
24:25Oh, no, no.
24:26What's going on?
24:28Well, I think you'll agree.
24:29I was starting to upholster, put some foam over here.
24:35It didn't go well.
24:37I can see that, love.
24:38So, that's been abandoned.
24:40And then what was the whole idea of the box?
24:44I was thinking this long box is a bit like a spaceship.
24:47Now I'm looking around, I can see it's got spaceship vibes.
24:51It has.
24:52It's gravity, man.
24:53Wow, it's really messing with my head.
24:57See you later.
25:01See you later, darling.
25:03Back on earth...
25:05I love doing a good mural.
25:06...design and technology teacher John is mapping out a monochrome masterpiece inspired by his childhood.
25:12So when I was a kid, my mum painted me a mural in her bedroom and she spent months painting this thing and I absolutely loved it.
25:22And I remember all my friends coming around saying how cool that was.
25:24And I like artwork in a room, but actually, why can't the wall itself be a bit of artwork?
25:30And you've got these giant canvases that are walls. Why not do something with them?
25:34Many of the designers are covering their boxy offices in paint.
25:38How many coats do you think?
25:40Looking at it, about four.
25:42But others are focusing their efforts elsewhere.
25:45Hi, Holly.
25:46Oh, hello, Alan.
25:47Hey, you're putting a sink in.
25:50Yeah, we're putting a sink in.
25:52No one else is doing a sink. Why haven't you done a sink?
25:54You know, because it gets so cold and rainy in the winter, make yourself a little pot noodle.
26:00Make yourself a pot noodle.
26:03So that's all attached to here.
26:05Have you ever made a sink before?
26:07No.
26:08Well, you're really pushing yourself then, aren't you?
26:10It is the place to try it, innit?
26:12Well, you've got, yeah.
26:14Pulls up.
26:18And it goes down again.
26:20Oh, my! Isn't that amazing?
26:23How cute is that?
26:24It's so cute.
26:25It works.
26:28Listen, tea break, you've got all that covered, but it is an office.
26:32You know, you've got to make money.
26:34That is a good point.
26:37At least when the business goes bankrupt, they can have a nice cuppa and a custard cream.
26:42That'll solve it.
26:43That'll make them feel better, definitely.
26:47Holly is throwing the kitchen sink at her room, literally.
26:50But Michelle wants these offices to entice people back to work.
26:54Yes, you'll get a nice cuppa in her container, but the walls are bare.
26:58Hey, Victoria.
27:03Oh, hello.
27:03How's it going?
27:04Very good.
27:05Wow.
27:07This is unbelievable.
27:09You're very ambitious.
27:10Yeah.
27:11Quite determined.
27:12Yeah.
27:12Determined to turn it around.
27:13I think I have quite the gumption to do this sort of scale.
27:17Yeah.
27:17So Victoria has these huge rock and roll-y booths.
27:21They are really quite impressive, and I really take my hat off to her chutzpah.
27:25She really goes for it.
27:27Because I've put my desks on a slant, it's really essential that we get the angle right.
27:33Let's stick to the classic angles.
27:35Yeah.
27:35Let's do 45 degrees.
27:37I think it'd be nice and clean, and we know they'll all be the same.
27:41Bradley, tell us about your layout.
27:44How many desks have you got?
27:45So we've got four going on, a little bug-off deal over here, two and one.
27:50But is this desk a bit small?
27:52I don't want it to be cramped, so I think the sizes are ample.
27:57Okay, all right, I believe you.
28:03We've got loads done today.
28:05Doing good.
28:06Okay.
28:09The Spaceship Oak Gallery.
28:11Yeah.
28:12Jobs are good.
28:12Alan did mention, are they too small?
28:17Alan hasn't been working in offices, has he?
28:19You know what I mean?
28:20He's all about the showbiz, not about the desk life.
28:24So what does he know?
28:26Day one done.
28:27I'm pleased with progress.
28:28I'm trying to think more about the client and less about my personal style.
28:32It's not a space designed for me to work from.
28:35It's to be functional over fancy.
28:39I feel like everything is a little bit of everywhere.
28:41I'm not really sure what I have achieved yet today.
28:44So I do feel a little nervous.
28:47I think my design is coming together, how I pictured it.
28:50I think I'm the only one that hasn't painted any of the walls at all.
28:54So I'm a bit worried that there's not enough going on in there.
28:58It's day two in the Bristol offices.
29:07Are you ready for this?
29:09Kind of.
29:10Yes.
29:10Oh, yeah.
29:12Morning, guys and girls.
29:13Morning.
29:14Oh, that's great.
29:16Good, good high five.
29:18We've got loads to do still.
29:20We've got the big unit to build today.
29:22We'll just double check all the measurements and everything again, make sure we're right
29:24with that.
29:25So I'm really keen for us to get onto the desk this morning.
29:32This frame, it's unfortunately bigger than a sheet of OSB.
29:35Yeah.
29:36John's reclaimed dolly is forcing him to go back to the drawing board.
29:40The kind of metal frame that I got is bigger than advertised, and so what I've calculated
29:46can't be built out of the materials I've got.
29:49So we're going to have to join parts together to do this, which is a bit of a shame, but
29:54that can't be helped.
29:55But round the back of the Aerospace Museum, John's spotted something that might just solve
30:01his problem.
30:01Hi there.
30:03Hi.
30:03Very, very random request.
30:05I'm working on the container units over there, and I notice you have some pallets around
30:10the side of the building.
30:11Could I possibly take some?
30:13Yeah, of course.
30:14Oh, you're a star.
30:27Oh, yeah.
30:30It is exactly the right size to go in this frame.
30:35That means that I can build what I wanted to build in the rest of it, and now I've got
30:41something here that I can build shelves on.
30:46So lighting.
30:48I'm hoping to use these carpet tubes to create a light feature along the ceiling.
30:54The designers are turning their attention to lighting.
30:57This jampan is going to be my pendant light.
31:02And repurposing where they can.
31:04My shade for the light is going to be in the form of a symbol.
31:09Ta-da!
31:10I'm making lovely lamps.
31:13These are made out of old electrical amp meters.
31:18They should look good.
31:19So this fine object is from the bottom of an office chair.
31:22I'm going to do that into a chandelier.
31:25I think they'll like that.
31:26Lighting ball.
31:28Hey!
31:29We have a light.
31:33That's the best thing I've ever designed.
31:35It's like sustainable but stylish.
31:37Yeah.
31:41It's really rewarding when you see a design come to life.
31:46There's like not a feeling like it.
31:50Ta-da!
31:50I'm going to make out of it a light fixture.
31:55A floor lamp.
31:56That's what I'm going to make.
31:57Ta-da!
32:03Rita.
32:04Hi.
32:05I've just slipped on a puddle of tea because someone's taken a massive...
32:08Oh.
32:09Oh, this is awkward.
32:11You need to go and speak to HR because I've pulled a muscle.
32:14Do you like it?
32:15I love it.
32:16It's going to be my floor lamp.
32:19Floor lamp?
32:20Yeah, because it's all about sustainability.
32:22Yes, yes, yes.
32:23This challenge, right?
32:24We're going to spray it.
32:25That is going to sit here.
32:27Yeah.
32:27And then when we turn it on, ta-da!
32:29We've got lights.
32:30Your imagination is something else.
32:33I was hoping to keep that little one as a reminder.
32:36Well, just with wet there.
32:38Will you please help me to spray?
32:42Of course, I would love to, yeah.
32:43Shall I do it, yeah?
32:44You go first, yeah.
32:46Shake it, shake it, shake it, yeah?
32:48Shake it, shake it.
32:49And then stay like 30 centimetres.
32:50I'm like Tom Cruise in Cocktail.
32:55Oh, yes.
32:56Look at you, bro.
32:57Oh, wow.
33:00I like that.
33:02That feels good.
33:02I think it's nice.
33:03I'll sit on this trolley of joy.
33:04The view of the car park, delicious.
33:10I think that's quite special.
33:12It is quite special.
33:21Fire.
33:22Fire.
33:26Ta-da!
33:27Ta-da!
33:34This is going to be my screen.
33:42So we've got a bit of inspiration from 1960s office spaces.
33:46There's a bit of space age in there.
33:48So this is like, you'd have that in a spaceship, maybe.
33:52I don't know.
33:53I've never been on one.
33:54Oh, it looks sick, doesn't it?
34:01Yeah, let's go.
34:02Yeah, I'm buzzing.
34:04Yeah, it looks really good.
34:08Oh, hello, Holly.
34:10Oh, hello there.
34:11This is amazing.
34:13You pleased how it's coming on?
34:14Yeah, I'm really pleased.
34:15And I love how you've just left OSB as it is.
34:18Yeah.
34:19Literally the only thing that we've painted is the ceiling.
34:21Holly is one to watch, definitely.
34:23I think she's got a very similar idea to me
34:26in terms of, like, subdivising the desk in space.
34:28Instead of trying to, like, absolutely coat the place
34:31in a coat of paint,
34:32she's, like, celebrating the OSB
34:33rather than trying to cover it up.
34:35So, like, she's super clever.
34:42Now, can we discuss this swing?
34:44We can discuss it.
34:45Do you want to get on here?
34:46It was made for you.
34:48Don't, because if it snaps, this is embarrassing.
34:50It won't.
34:52That's relaxing, that is, isn't it?
34:53Oh, that is so nice.
34:55Right?
34:56So, what have you got a swing in an office for?
34:59I think this is my cockpit quiet zone.
35:01We're at the head of the aeroplane here.
35:03Why is it called a cockpit choir zone?
35:06Quiet zone.
35:06Quiet.
35:07Oh, I know.
35:08Ah, Concord!
35:10You can do that if you like.
35:11Yeah, I've got the range.
35:13Yeah, you have got the range.
35:14I love the whiteness of this,
35:16which is your signature style, isn't it?
35:18Yeah, yeah, earthy neutral, yeah.
35:19But does it look a bit bare?
35:22It does at the minute, Alan.
35:23Yeah, but what are you going to do to make it less bare?
35:26We've got our desks about to come in.
35:28I've got an upcycled pine table going in.
35:31I've got my chair.
35:32I've got...
35:32Listen, it's coming.
35:33It's about to all kick off.
35:34We're ready for a party.
35:37All right, Alan.
35:45Let's go!
35:46Oh, I see a man at the back, a man at the back.
35:59There?
36:00Yeah, perfect.
36:00Oh, let no one ignore it.
36:02She thinks she's the passionate one.
36:05You're doing it there.
36:06Yeah, please.
36:08You didn't even look, then, did you?
36:09Yeah, I can't do that.
36:11It's nice.
36:13Oh.
36:15Nice, nice, nice.
36:16Yeah, yeah, yeah.
36:18And the man at the back said,
36:19everyone attack and they turn into a ballroom lit.
36:22And the girl in the corner said,
36:24fire on the money and it'll turn into a ballroom lit.
36:26Ballroom lit.
36:28Yeah, we have a laugh.
36:31Ballroom lit.
36:33Ballroom lit.
36:34We can get that clad.
36:35Yeah.
36:35And then I can get my desks into position
36:37whilst we're finishing that.
36:38OK.
36:38And then we can get the shelving above here sorted.
36:43All right, yeah?
36:43OK.
36:44OK, cool, cool, cool.
36:45She's stressing.
36:47Right now, feeling a little stressed
36:49because I know I've got just a white box at this point.
36:57Holly!
36:58Oh, hello.
36:59I could do with a drinking, buddy.
37:01Oh, have a seat.
37:02Oh, I love this time of the day
37:04when you can have an ice brew.
37:06Oh, yeah.
37:07Oh, have you done everything then?
37:08Everything's sorted?
37:10I think we're pretty much there, yeah.
37:11I saw the other lot.
37:12They're sort of running around quite frazzled, to be honest.
37:15Why are they?
37:16Yeah.
37:18Not really been out for a while.
37:19No, no.
37:21Just staying here, love.
37:22It's chaos out there.
37:23They're running around, finishing their rooms.
37:26Boring.
37:26You stay here, you going to the back.
37:49Oh, paint-cident.
37:52It was, um, paint things quick.
37:55I'm over thinking of plant.
37:57What's your favourite biscuit?
37:59Custard cream.
38:00Oh, love, love.
38:02Do you double dunk sometimes?
38:03Oh, yeah, if you can get away with it.
38:05The shelves have got up, right?
38:12Yeah.
38:12Yeah, yeah, yeah.
38:12Okay, cool.
38:15Oh, I know Brian needs panicking.
38:17I need, like, 15 props.
38:19It's nice just to think, isn't it?
38:21Bit of thinky time.
38:22Yeah, thinky time.
38:23I'm done.
38:32Oh, my God.
38:41I'm done.
38:43Just in time.
38:45Michelle's arrived to judge the offices
38:47with this week's guest judge, Max McMurdo.
38:50Max is known for his innovative design transformations
38:55that use sustainable materials
38:57and pre-loved objects to create unique living spaces.
39:01I absolutely adore shipping containers.
39:03The main reason is because I live in one.
39:05And even though they're small,
39:07if you're clever with your design,
39:08you can get a lot out of them.
39:10And that's what I'm excited to see today.
39:12The main idea of this challenge
39:14is to really get our designers to explore
39:17what is sustainability
39:18and how creative they can be with that.
39:21So if I walk into one of those spaces
39:23and I actually think,
39:24hey, I could sit here and write,
39:26then that will be a winning design.
39:33I'm very proud of the space
39:34that I've managed to achieve.
39:36I'd like to think that I've nailed a brief on this one
39:38by using the booth seating.
39:40It's showing that I like to push the boundaries
39:43as to what a space can be defined as.
39:45Oh, very gentle theming.
39:49I'm really quite impressed
39:51by what Victoria's done here.
39:52Her music client,
39:53you've got pieces of the drum kit,
39:55there's little side tables.
39:57So I think that's actually quite, quite fun.
40:00Oh, it's a bit lighter down here, isn't it?
40:02Look at these lovely booths.
40:03I think they're all repurposed from an old restaurant.
40:05So we've not created new,
40:07so I'm loving that.
40:09And look at this.
40:10That's clever.
40:11I can work on my own
40:12or a lovely little sort of set of four.
40:14We see more of the symbols from the drum kit
40:17and that's a cost-effective way
40:18of creating some really gorgeous brass lighting.
40:25I've pushed the use of space to the maximum.
40:27I don't think I could have filled it anymore.
40:30It would have become unusable.
40:32So, yeah, hopefully I've got this right.
40:35It's such a different feel.
40:39John's imaginary client was an architectural office.
40:43I do like the use of wood in here, I must admit.
40:46And nice that he's picked up on the material
40:48that's been used for the walls,
40:49the OSB to make this unit.
40:52Not much space, actually, behind the stool, is there?
40:54It's a big old table.
40:55I was imagining this was a stand-around thing.
40:57And you can tell John's a design technology teacher, can't you?
41:00That's why I think he's put those two different timbers on the end there.
41:03It's about that attention to detail, isn't it?
41:05Yeah.
41:09I do think I've managed to create a space that's enticing.
41:12I want them just to think it's a nice, calming, lovely space to work.
41:16But it's not too clinical.
41:19It still has, like, homely touches.
41:21I love that Emma has so many ideas and so many concepts.
41:27And she starts from this position where I think,
41:29oh, you've referenced Bristol, you've referenced the history of the area.
41:32And yet, design is about then narrowing that down
41:36into a concept that's appropriate for here.
41:39And so, I feel she's got a little muddled.
41:47Well, this is different to the others, isn't it?
41:50I like the idea of a softer seating area at the end of the space.
41:54It's just it's not very soft.
41:55Not as comfy as it looks, is it?
41:58I do, however, like these chairs.
42:00Projecting this round so they can link together to form a curve.
42:04That's quite a clever piece of design.
42:05How genius is that?
42:07That is lovely.
42:08So, that's the bottom of a chair, isn't it?
42:10But what I said to her last week was, like, there was too much.
42:13And I feel like I've got too much again here.
42:20I'm really pleased with the space.
42:22I really love it.
42:23The way the screen's turned out.
42:25I love the little sink area.
42:27I think it looks like a little mini kitchen.
42:28It's dead cute.
42:32This is different, isn't it?
42:33I'd love this, though.
42:35I'm just going to come straight out and say it.
42:37I wonder if it's because Holly is the first person
42:39that's kept all of the OSB.
42:42The dimensions and proportions of the booth are perfect.
42:45I think that's it.
42:46It's the generosity of the space.
42:49Oh, my goodness.
42:50It keeps getting better.
42:51Wow.
42:52First person to put a little sink in so I could actually make tea.
42:55Hang on.
42:57Oh, yes.
42:59That's fantastic.
43:00So, there must just be fresh water and waste water underneath.
43:02I love it when the front and back of your design
43:06starts to speak to each other.
43:07And this is actually a really functional kitchen area.
43:10It's a high bar now, isn't it?
43:11It certainly is.
43:17I hope Michelle and Max really feel the vibe of the space
43:20when they walk into it.
43:21I hope that they see my vision
43:23and I hope they see all my repurposed items.
43:29Loving these cardboard tube lights, which seems so weird,
43:34but there's a warmth to the cardboard
43:35that then the lighting as well is also quite a soft lighting.
43:39It feels spacious.
43:40It feels calming.
43:42A place you'd like to spend time.
43:43I am feeling happy with the space.
43:50Like, it's all come together.
43:52It is my interior design style
43:54and I think it is very fitting for the container spaces.
43:59It's a bit of me and I'm really happy with it.
44:01It's all gone a bit bonkers in here, hasn't it?
44:06I mean, imagine working there for eight hours a day,
44:10facing into this dark little corner.
44:13That doesn't feel very inspirational right now.
44:15I've also made a discovery.
44:17Whilst sat at that desk, it's all made of MDF.
44:21Oh.
44:22MDF is just not a clean, sustainable material.
44:26Bradley has clearly done what is his signature style.
44:29It's just not working for me practically
44:32and functionally as an office.
44:34Mm.
44:38When Max and Michelle come into my office,
44:42I hope they're going to feel the joy.
44:46They're going to feel the warmth.
44:48It's very sunshiny.
44:49And hopefully, they'll take a few minutes in my breakout space
44:52and I have a little bop.
44:53I would.
44:55Oh, look.
44:58Non-aligned desks.
45:01I really like that.
45:02It means that I'm not facing the wall.
45:05I absolutely love this colourway.
45:07It's really, really consistent and coherent throughout, isn't it?
45:14I've definitely stretched myself this week.
45:17There are small tweaks and things I would have changed
45:20if I'd had a bit more time, but I'd just run out of time.
45:22And to be honest, I'm quite impressed with how much I got done
45:26in that last hour, considering where we were with an hour to go.
45:33Bryony was inspired by Concord,
45:35and the whole space has been drenched in white,
45:37so she's very much kind of negated the OSB.
45:40She's not having it with the natural texture at all,
45:42even though that is very much her thing, ordinarily.
45:45Yeah, there is a big galley way down the middle, isn't there?
45:48It's a bit bizarre to see all the desks shoved against one wall.
45:51I am drawn to the back, though.
45:53It's a bit darker.
45:54I think this is our first-class lounge.
45:56It really feels like it as well, doesn't it?
45:59Reusing our doors really works, I think, as a partition.
46:02I'm less comfortable with this space, though.
46:04This space feels a bit odd to me.
46:06I've got a big armchair, a swing, and then a little wooden chair.
46:11Not quite sure I'm either chilling here, relaxing here,
46:13or having a meeting here.
46:14Yeah, I personally love this blue,
46:17and I think that goes really well with the brass and the copper
46:19in the upcycled jam pot,
46:21so I think I'd like to have seen a little bit more of this blue coming through.
46:29I wanted this space that feels sophisticated and sexy,
46:33so my desk area, I'm really pleased with it.
46:35The staircase spindles worked really well,
46:39and I hope they like it.
46:44Ooh.
46:45Rita's kept the OSB,
46:48but then brought in black as a very dynamic colour all the way through.
46:53Some really nice upcycled elements.
46:55Is that what that is?
46:56No, looks like some sort of cone.
46:58Yeah, it's a wet floor sign.
47:00That's lovely, isn't it?
47:01See, that's really clever.
47:02When you're recycling and repurposing stuff,
47:05but it looks brilliant.
47:07Now that is some amount of desk space.
47:10Oh, isn't that nice?
47:11It really embraces the space, doesn't it?
47:14And look.
47:16Oh.
47:17I love this.
47:19Are they stair spindles?
47:20They are, because look, there's the big corner one there.
47:22Yeah, that's fantastic, isn't it?
47:24I love that they're odd.
47:25Wow.
47:26This is tough, isn't it?
47:27This is going to be tough, so let's go and do some deliberation.
47:32Before they hear what the judges think...
47:34Oh, wow!
47:35...the designers get their chance to check out the competition.
47:39Love this.
47:40Yes.
47:41It's wholly old, but hasn't it?
47:44John's office feels a bit more grown up than mine.
47:47Yes, that's true.
47:48Are you worried that yours isn't grown up enough, St. Frank?
47:50At one point, I thought it started to look like a children's TV presenter set.
47:54Sort of like, play away from 1974.
47:57Oh, look at the colors!
48:00He's a clever boy, is our little Craig.
48:02Yes.
48:03It's obviously color-coded, isn't it?
48:04Red chair, red desk, red lamp.
48:06Oh, yeah.
48:08I wish I'd thought that.
48:09I love how she's gone for, like, the whole thing.
48:12She painted it, the whole thing is painted.
48:14Very different to mine.
48:15Like, the whole layout and all the colors.
48:17Yeah, yeah.
48:17I've kept mine, like, natural.
48:19The whole thing, yeah.
48:20Yeah, so I've not painted any of the walls.
48:22I get nervous when I see colors.
48:24I'm like, oh!
48:28Our nine designers return to the studio to find out who wins Standout Space
48:33and who will be on Michelle's sofa.
48:37Here they are.
48:38Hello.
48:39Hi.
48:41Craig, how did your 70s disco go down?
48:44I think it went all right.
48:45Yeah, a little bit of a boogie in there.
48:47Holly, I enjoyed our little sit-down together, did you?
48:50Oh, yeah, it was lovely.
48:51Oh, I love double-dunking with you, Holly.
48:53Oh, me too.
48:55Can I just say, I thought all your containers were fab,
48:59but I ain't the boss round here.
49:01Let's bring out the head honchos themselves,
49:04Max and Michelle!
49:05Woo-hoo!
49:06Lovely.
49:06Woo-hoo!
49:06Lovely.
49:10Hello, everyone.
49:11Hi.
49:11Hi.
49:11When we dreamed up this challenge, I was not sure that I could be convinced to want to work
49:16in a container, but you guys, you did it.
49:19I am totally ready to rent.
49:21Oh, thank you.
49:22And given that I live in one of these containers, so I understand the challenges,
49:26but the thing I'm most impressed with is repurposing is really hard work, isn't it?
49:30So I really applaud you all on the endeavour and the hard work you've put into this.
49:34Well, you gave them boxes, and there was a lot of boxes to tick.
49:39Who do you think deserves standout space?
49:43Well, I think for truly embracing the authenticity of the container...
49:50Holly, congratulations.
49:57I felt you just really leaned into the materials that you were given and then took them to
50:07a higher level to create a space that was so warm and welcoming.
50:12We really wanted to work there.
50:13Oh, good guy.
50:14It was the only place where you could actually prepare a cup of tea, so it was beautiful and
50:18practical and functional.
50:19So well done.
50:20Thank you so much.
50:21And who else is through?
50:24Well done, Victoria.
50:26I really saw that you learnt from your feedback last week and nailed this for your client.
50:33Thank you very much.
50:36And the next person going through is Aisha.
50:40What I really loved about your design was sustainability was at the core.
50:44It wasn't just greenwashing or box ticking.
50:46All of the materials, everything about it was properly eco-friendly, so well done.
50:52So next through, Craig, congratulations.
50:55I was a bit worried that you'd only be able to do 1930s, but you show me you can do 70s
51:02with Greater Blob, don't you?
51:05Next through, Rita, another really triumphant design, congrats.
51:09Some of the items you repurposed were fantastic, including the wet floor sign, which really
51:13caught us by surprise, so well done.
51:15And John, you're going to be the next person going through.
51:19What I really loved about your design, John, was the mix of materials.
51:22You're clearly a design teacher because that came through in your work.
51:25Remember last week, I really loved how paired back your scheme was.
51:29I felt that this week, you felt you had to show me that you could do more, and pattern, and extra, and plus, plus, plus.
51:36Stick to that thing that you do that's really core you.
51:40Yeah.
51:41OK.
51:42Anyone else going through?
51:43I'm afraid not.
51:44So that means that Bradley, Bryony, and Emma, I'd like to see you on my sofa.
51:49Congratulations, everyone else.
51:51See you next week.
51:52I don't really know what I'm doing as much as a lot of the other designers, but then for
52:02me to get the standout space, I must be doing something right, which is a very nice feeling.
52:06Bravo, Kim.
52:07Thanks, guys.
52:09I was thinking I might be on the sofa, I can't lie, just because of the whole sustainability
52:16aspect.
52:17I feel like I could have done a bit more.
52:19Good luck.
52:20Yeah.
52:21It's good to have the chat.
52:23It's an opportunity.
52:24Yeah, exactly.
52:25Yeah.
52:26I did think I was going to be on the sofa this week.
52:29My room wasn't singing to me how I wanted it to sing to me, but I really want to stay
52:33in this competition.
52:34I'm absolutely loving it.
52:36I thought that I'd managed to create an airy, beautiful, colourful space.
52:42So, I am interested to see what the feedback is.
52:45Hello.
52:46Hi.
52:49So, you three are all here because I feel I need a little bit of help understanding
52:54your design inspirations.
52:56So, Bradley, if I can start with you.
52:59Yeah, yeah.
53:00You have a beautiful approach.
53:01It's playful, it's fun, it's colour and it's joyful.
53:04Yeah.
53:05Was that the right approach to this brief in a container where the key element of it was
53:11sustainability?
53:12I thought it made sense in a modern container.
53:16So, in my eyes I thought it matches the space maybe, but obviously it hasn't translated over.
53:24I think we loved a lot of the items that you made, but my key thing is you were one person
53:30who used a lot of MDF.
53:31Yeah.
53:32MDF is not a sustainable material.
53:34Yeah.
53:35It can be toxic, it's horrible to work with, creates a lot of dust.
53:38Yeah.
53:39It's definitely one that I'd put in the non-eco bin.
53:42I wasn't aware of it.
53:43Like, obviously I've just learnt that now.
53:45Yeah.
53:46So, future reference.
53:47Yeah.
53:48Emma, if I could turn to you.
53:49Yes.
53:50Thinking about your inspirations, we had 70s spaceship meets art gallery with some hot
53:55air balloons on the side.
53:57Explain, please.
53:58When I was little, you know, Concorde was so exciting and I was thinking about the future
54:04of flight.
54:05And Bristol's such a lovely, lovely place.
54:07To me it means colourful houses, it means festivals, it means music and it means shipbuilding.
54:13So I wanted my paintings to be the bow of a ship and to represent the inside of a hot
54:18air balloon.
54:19But do you hear how many things, like in addition to the spaceship, we've got Concorde, you've
54:24got hot air balloons, you've got, I mean, the list went on and on.
54:28I mean, it's a lot to try and cram into one space.
54:32The concept probably sounds complicated but I wanted it to come out in a simplistic way.
54:38So, Bryony, if I could come to you.
54:40Yeah.
54:41I felt that you didn't want your client to feel like they were working in a container
54:45and that's perhaps why you made it all white.
54:47You were like, no, don't worry about the OSB boards, don't worry about the container,
54:50I'm taking you somewhere different.
54:52Yeah.
54:53And so there was that element that when we walked on it was like, wow, she did not like
54:56OSB, did she?
54:57That was the assumption.
54:58Yeah, yeah, yeah.
54:59Well, I couldn't agree more.
55:01Like, I have no comeback other than I got that wrong.
55:06Yeah.
55:07Well, I think you all three just kind of over complicated it.
55:11There is no right answer in design but there are better approaches.
55:16And so that's, I think, why you three are here.
55:19Yeah.
55:20But I've got to send someone home.
55:22Sadly, I think, Emma, it is going to be you.
55:34It's just you have all these brilliant ideas but designers got to take you higher than craft
55:41and just take that one idea.
55:43It's what I said to you last week and really have the courage of your convictions.
55:47But I want you to know there were moments of genius in both of the designs that we've seen so far.
55:52So I know you can do it.
55:54But well done.
55:55Thank you so much.
55:56And I just want to say thank you so much for a lovely opportunity.
55:58I've enjoyed every second.
56:00And you're going to be fine.
56:02So thank you so much, everyone.
56:04Aw.
56:05You've been so much fun to meet you.
56:09And you.
56:10Come on, you.
56:11All right.
56:12Come on, then.
56:13I'll see you two next week.
56:14Thank you so much.
56:16Interior Design Masters is a crazy, wonderful experience on every level.
56:23It tests every little part of you.
56:25Your tenacity, your emotions, your design decisions.
56:29But I will never, ever regret being part of it.
56:33Ever, ever.
56:34You've brought so much joy.
56:36So much joy.
56:37You've been missed.
56:38Yeah.
56:39My little bestie.
56:41I love her.
56:43And I'm going to miss her.
56:44But I know she's going to be on to big things now.
56:46Emma has been giving me all her ideas and her enthusiasms.
56:51But this challenge, I think there was just a bit too much concept and not enough functionality.
56:57Next time.
56:58The new 60 is cool.
57:00It's luxury retirement apartments.
57:02That's my brain on a wall.
57:04What colour would you describe this?
57:06Mouldie Satzuma.
57:07Designed for some unique clientele.
57:10Retired sailor, retired mermaid.
57:12Yeah.
57:13That's a great idea.
57:14Yeah?
