00:00Drum roll!
00:01Yeah, don't be scared.
00:02Oh, man.
00:03The roof is carpet.
00:05Oh, wow.
00:07Dang.
00:08It's been in the family a long time.
00:11Well, man, he's mummified.
00:13Damn.
00:14Got a glove?
00:15We've never done a 36 Ford.
00:16Kind of an iconic car, so we decided we're
00:18gonna put Brian on this thing.
00:20This is my first full project start to finish.
00:23No pressure.
00:26Dang.
00:27Stubborn bastard.
00:28Let's see where you at.
00:30It's a lot of blue.
00:32It doesn't run.
00:34Well, I don't think we'll have any problem selling a 60 Impala.
00:37We can work with that.
00:38I can guarantee it's a story.
00:47I'm Joe Martin.
00:49I've been building cars and bikes since I was just a little kid.
00:52My team hunts down rusted wrecks.
00:55Are we gonna work today, Joe, or what?
00:57We knock out the ugly and put in the cool.
01:01And turn these buckets of rust into street art.
01:06This is Iron Resurrection.
01:12Today we get to meet some new clients with a really cool project.
01:15Oh, Blue?
01:16Did you answer the question?
01:17Hey.
01:18Look at that.
01:19Come on, Blue.
01:20Hey, how are you?
01:21Hey, Teresa.
01:22How are you?
01:23Good.
01:24I'm Teresa Walker, and this is my husband Dave.
01:25And we're from Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
01:27Drum roll.
01:28Yeah, drum roll.
01:29Yeah.
01:30Don't be scared.
01:31Oh, man.
01:32Gosh.
01:34Oh, man.
01:35Look at this.
01:36They're bringing in a 36 Ford Coupe that actually belonged to Teresa's dad.
01:40So they're wanting to restore this baby to its original glory.
01:43My dad did floor covering.
01:45So the roof is carpet.
01:48Oh, wow.
01:49Okay.
01:50Well, it won't be when it leaves here.
01:52You'll like the interior.
01:54Oh, yeah.
01:55Look at that, man.
01:56Yeah.
01:57Is there a mouse house in there?
02:00Dang.
02:04This is a very cool car.
02:05It's very rare.
02:06And 36 Ford, it's just very iconic.
02:08Oh, man.
02:09Yeah, it's got a little bit of rot.
02:11Really, the main challenge of this car is getting everything to fit and finish on this car nice.
02:15We want to make everything modernized and everything.
02:17Okay, I'm gonna go grab some guys to help y'all get this car out.
02:20All right.
02:21My dad bought it in 1960.
02:24Come on, boys.
02:25It's been in the family a long time and my dad's gone.
02:31So that just makes me even more anxious that I want to get it on the road for him
02:38because he never would spend the money to do it.
02:41What'd you tell me?
02:42I don't know how he wanted me to spend his money, but this is what he's getting.
02:46It's been yard art for a long time.
02:49I'm ready to get it on the road.
02:51She wants it to stay kind of stock looking on the outside, but really nice on the inside so we can drive it.
02:57So we're excited to see how much of it they're able to keep stock appearing.
03:03They're gonna put it inside their living room where they can just hang out with the cars.
03:07So the cars gotta look nice inside as well as outside.
03:10You got critters down there?
03:11You got dead stuff in there, Mike?
03:13Yes, you're a favorite.
03:14Oh!
03:15That is mummified.
03:16Damn.
03:17You got a glove?
03:18I do not want it, Mike.
03:19That's not original though, huh?
03:20No.
03:21It didn't come with a small Chevy.
03:22No.
03:23They didn't finish it either.
03:24They left the heads in intake, but that's all right.
03:25Are we putting an LS in it?
03:26Easy, Mike.
03:27Well, what are we gonna do then?
03:28Actually, we're gonna put a 302 Ford there, Mike.
03:29Are we gonna frame the car too?
03:30First of the shop frame, get it down on the ground.
03:31I mean, getting the water on the ground.
03:32Get it down on the ground.
03:33Get it down on the ground.
03:34Get it down on the ground.
03:35Get it down on the ground.
03:36Get it on the ground.
03:37Get it on the ground.
03:38Get it on the ground.
03:39Get it on the ground.
03:40Get it on the ground.
03:41We're gonna make people's dreams come true on this thing, Mike.
03:42Look at this interior, man.
03:43To be honest with you, though, I'm kinda excited about, Joe.
03:44Isn't that cool?
03:45Shag carpeting.
03:46I didn't stock either.
03:47There's no carpeting on the floor, Mike.
03:48I can deal with it.
03:49There's shag carpeting on the roof.
03:50This comes from the 70s, dog.
03:51Yeah.
03:52The rumble seat.
03:53Yeah, rumble seat.
03:54You ever rode in a rumble seat, Mike?
03:55No.
03:56No.
03:57No.
03:58No.
03:59No.
04:00No.
04:01No.
04:02No.
04:03No.
04:04No.
04:05No.
04:06No.
04:07No.
04:08No.
04:09You ever rode in a rumble seat, Mike?
04:10No.
04:11I was just fixing to ask you, when we get done with this thing, can I roll back here?
04:14You wanna roll in a rumble seat?
04:15Yeah.
04:16How many people can say they rode in a rumble seat?
04:18In a 36 Ford.
04:19They put a step on the taillight.
04:20Well, that must be braced up for this.
04:23Oh, my God.
04:24Well, we need to adjust that.
04:25But, yeah.
04:26Man, I dig it.
04:27Well, they're gonna stick with this dark blue that's in the original, as you can see.
04:31But Washington blue is a Ford color.
04:33I like it.
04:34Like a dark blue.
04:35I mean, the car's solid, man.
04:36Man.
04:37Look at this thing.
04:38Yeah.
04:39Hey, man.
04:40Look at this seat.
04:41This seat trips me out.
04:42Yeah.
04:43We got some work to do, though.
04:44I think there's a rat resort in there somewhere.
04:46Yeah.
04:47I don't know.
04:48We're gonna tear it down.
04:49Yeah.
04:50Inventory, everything that's good on this thing.
04:52Get it off the frame.
04:53We're not using the frame no more.
04:54And we got the first thing to get it sandblasting.
05:00All right, boys.
05:01Let's push it up here, and we'll start tearing it down.
05:03Steer it up there, though.
05:04It'll have to fall off all four.
05:05Go on.
05:06Brian's driving again.
05:08I don't have a license.
05:10Well, he's got about 600 pounds of carpet in it.
05:15Everywhere but the floor.
05:17All right.
05:18Whoa.
05:19And we lost it.
05:20Bag and tag, Zach.
05:21Make sure we're gonna lose any rare pieces.
05:23And sandblasting it tomorrow.
05:25Awesome.
05:26Probably gonna need some gloves to take that headliner out.
05:34Hold your breath.
05:35Oh, hey-oh.
05:37Dude, it's side paneling for your house.
05:40They got the shiplap in there.
05:43Look at that.
05:44Look at that.
05:45So we've got Teresa's 36 Ford sandblasted.
06:01Now it's time to start building the sand.
06:04So this 36 Ford project is actually a really cool car.
06:11We've never done a 36 Ford.
06:13It's kind of an iconic car.
06:14So we decided we're gonna put Brian on this thing,
06:16and it's kind of his solo project.
06:18I haven't got a project this big yet.
06:21This is my first, like, full project start to finish.
06:24So pretty excited about it.
06:34So I heard through the grapevine that our buddy Jay Bear
06:37has an old 60 Chevy for sale.
06:39So I'm gonna send Shag and Amanda over there to see what the deal is with it.
06:42We're heading to Jay's.
06:43Jay Bear?
06:44Yeah, we're gonna go see Jay Bear today.
06:46Oh, man.
06:49So he's got some 60 Impala over here.
06:51I guess he's had it six or seven years.
06:54We gotta go put eyes on it.
06:55So Joe wants us to go take a look at it,
06:56see what we can shake Jay down for.
07:00Jay owned car dealerships, and he was a car salesman.
07:03So that's why he's so good at his job.
07:05So out here at the Bear Estates, it's the one-offs.
07:15Hey, Bear.
07:16There he is.
07:17Hey, Shag, how you doing?
07:18Well, I'm good, man.
07:20But this, this, I ain't taking no BS stance scares me.
07:26Well, what I do is I buy cars,
07:28and then since so many of them have something wrong with them,
07:31I repair them, make them safe, just get them ready to go.
07:34And then I enjoy them for a little while,
07:36and then advertise them later on.
07:37Let me open the door for you.
07:38Oh, you're gonna do it that way.
07:39Oh, yeah, just like you do.
07:40Peaked our curiosity now.
07:41It doesn't run, but it's a solid builder.
07:52I mean, it's really a solid car.
07:54The 60 Impala is a nice car.
07:57The body's nice.
07:58It doesn't run, but that's not a big thing for them or actually me.
08:02That's probably the easiest thing to fix on a car.
08:05The paint and upholstery is the most expensive thing to fix on a car.
08:10It's a lot of blue.
08:12Yeah.
08:13I mean, from what we've seen or from what we've looked at,
08:16this is very just aesthetic issues.
08:18Granted, we haven't tried to start it,
08:20so we don't know what's going on under the hood,
08:22but what we can see?
08:23Mm-hmm.
08:24Wow.
08:31Brian kind of jumped into this project,
08:32so we thought it'd be a perfect car for him to do a solo project
08:36with his first car.
08:37He does everything by himself.
08:39So I got the bead design laid out on my rear trunk floor panel,
08:44and I kind of just took the same design
08:46that was used in the car originally,
08:49so this kind of W patterns on the firewall,
08:53and I figured it'd be cool to incorporate it in the rest of the car.
08:57Hey, K-Dub.
08:58I was wondering,
08:59do you think these corners are too tight for the bead roller?
09:02Do you think I'm going to be all right?
09:04I just use the tape to kind of lay it out.
09:08Yeah.
09:09Yeah, that should be plenty big enough for the bead roller.
09:14Hey, I did it!
09:25Brian has come a long way in a short amount of time.
09:29I mean, this guy can fabricate.
09:31He can paint.
09:32He can do interior work.
09:33I mean, Brian's an all-around kick-ass employee.
09:36I kind of like what you got going on here.
09:51You kind of copied kind of what was on it.
09:55Yeah, the original one.
09:56I kind of dig it.
09:58I kind of wanted it to fit the car rather than making it look all modern.
10:01Yeah.
10:05Ooh, that was smooth.
10:09Man, you act like you've done this before.
10:12Brian's doing really good right now.
10:14He's picking up on all this stuff really quick and he's not messing around and just gets it done.
10:23I'm really digging how he went with kind of an original design but just kind of switched it up just a tad.
10:31So I'm really digging it.
10:33It's going to look really good in there.
10:35All right.
10:37Thank you, K-Dub.
10:38Good job, man.
10:39Thanks.
10:40There's a lot that I got to think of when I'm building this floor.
10:44Clearance for the rear end, making sure the floor is going to, you know, trans-tunnel, all that stuff.
10:49And just fitting everything, making sure none of it gets out of whack.
10:56Right on.
10:57Well, I know you, and you don't normally hold on to cars that long.
11:09The 60 Impala.
11:11Just sits here taking up space.
11:13So Jay Baer's got a 60 Impala for sale.
11:15He called Joe and let us know, so that's why we're here.
11:18Man, that thing is clean.
11:21This interior is...
11:22Flawless?
11:23...really nice.
11:24I mean, close.
11:25The trim all looks really good.
11:27Dude, this thing's crazy.
11:31Got the original radio.
11:32Man, this thing is...
11:33Skirt spare.
11:35This thing is nice.
11:36I think it's a $35,000 car.
11:38So you say $35,000, we say $25,000.
11:41Oh, yeah.
11:42Thanks for coming out.
11:43Yeah, you laugh.
11:45You insult me behind my back.
11:46And then we land somewhere that we both feel happy about.
11:49I think it's going to be fun negotiating with them.
11:52Because they're TV stars and they think I'm just going to lay down.
11:57And I'm not.
12:03All right.
12:09Looks pretty good so far.
12:11We'll keep on rolling with it.
12:12So the floors have to be mounted to the frame.
12:28The tunnels have to accommodate the transmissions, the drive shaft.
12:31So the floors are really the first thing once the body's mounted to the frame.
12:34They have to be addressed.
12:35All right.
12:36Got the floor all wrapped up.
12:37And I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out for my first full floor to be built.
12:42I'm happy with it.
12:44The 36 Ford's going to be a very extensive project.
12:47The new roadster shop frame.
12:48We've got modern Ford engine, fuel injection, AC.
12:52All this stuff's going to have to be kind of addressed, moved around accordingly.
12:55Move the motor back a little bit.
12:56So we're going to do a custom firewall.
12:58Extensive work in the floors to accommodate the new transmissions.
13:03And do a custom set of one-off wheels.
13:05And, you know, to top it off, just a really kick-ass paint job.
13:12What I'm drawing right now is Teresa and David's 36 Ford coupe.
13:18Yeah, this 36 Ford is kind of a family heirloom.
13:20It belonged to her father.
13:22They want to keep it in the family.
13:23They want to get it going back on the road.
13:25I just remember Dad working on it in the summertime.
13:28And we'd go and ride in the rumble seat.
13:31So now I'm just going to bring it back to life.
13:35Yeah, we were excited about this project because it's a 36 Ford.
13:3835, 36 Ford's a very iconic era for Ford in the 30s.
13:42It's kind of like what the 69 Camaro was to the 60s to me.
13:46And we've never done one before.
13:48So we were really excited to have this build in here.
13:50It's just an iconic piece of Americana.
13:52And we're excited to finish it up.
13:54They wanted to go a factory color, Washington Blue.
13:58So that's actually a Ford factory color that came out in the day.
14:01So it's a very popular color.
14:03So they're kind of sticking with traditional interior.
14:07She decided to go with kind of like a saddle, worn saddle, dark brown color.
14:11So I think the color combos are going to be pretty good on this car.
14:14Brian's been working with us for quite a while now, three or four years.
14:16Not that long.
14:17But he's excelled really well.
14:20And this thing is going to be very challenging.
14:22But he's impressed me with his skills and how fast he's learned these things.
14:25And I think he's going to do great.
14:26What puts this on the trailer today?
14:3230.
14:33Jay plays the game.
14:35Jay knows the game.
14:36I knew that he was going to play the game.
14:38Jay invented the game.
14:39Then you crossed your hands again.
14:41You crossed your arms.
14:42Where were you at?
14:43You never came up.
14:44I said 25, 26.
14:45Shag's at 27.
14:46And you're at 30.
14:47Well, who's running your show?
14:49I know who's running mine.
14:50Who do you want to run it today?
14:52Yeah.
14:53Shag, I think.
14:5425 or 26?
14:55If you'll go for 27, I'll let that happen.
14:57I decided I'd do something different this time.
14:59That kind of threw me off guard a little bit.
15:01Uh-huh.
15:02But then I picked up what she was putting down.
15:03I was like, okay, I'm just going to let this play out.
15:05Yeah, yeah.
15:06And we're buying this thing for 27.
15:08Well, look at him giggling.
15:09He probably just made 10 grand.
15:12Of course he did.
15:13Oh, shit.
15:15You were so bad.
15:16We went to the 27.
15:17Yeah.
15:18Which I think is a very meat-on-the-bones fair price.
15:21For a quick flip, I mean, I'm happy.
15:23Okay.
15:25Take this boat on the road.
15:27A super easy car to flip.
15:29If they flip it, they'll do well.
15:32They're TV stars.
15:43My plan is to make a firewall.
15:46I'll start with cardboard templates.
15:50Get everything mapped out and fitting really nice.
15:54And then just make panels.
15:56Weld them together.
15:58I'll have to tank roll some edges and put some beadwork in it.
16:02All right.
16:03We'll see how that fits.
16:04Very nice.
16:05We can tack it in.
16:09We're kind of working with the limited space, so we need to move the firewall back, but we
16:23still need to have room for our pedals and everything on the inside of the car.
16:26A.C.
16:27And things like that.
16:28So we've just got to be mindful of all that stuff.
16:30Damn, Brian.
16:31They're looking good, man.
16:32Yep.
16:33Got it all finished up.
16:34You sure did, man.
16:35You got a metal finish?
16:36That looks like a factory, brother.
16:37Yeah.
16:38Damn.
16:39How's the plan?
16:40Man, look at that motor fitting there.
16:41Man, that's awesome, dude.
16:42That's killer work, man.
16:43Thanks.
16:44Blends in nice.
16:45Got the factory forward stamping looking there, dude.
16:46That's killer.
16:47Man, that'll look great with the stacks on there.
16:48Kind of a shame to cover it up with paint, Brian.
16:49I know, right?
16:50Yeah.
16:51Yeah.
16:52Yeah.
16:53Yeah.
16:54Yeah.
16:55Yeah.
16:56Yeah.
16:57Yeah.
16:58Yeah.
16:59All the hard work, nobody gets to see it.
17:02That's awesome.
17:03Henry Ford, man, he would approve, I think.
17:05For my first firewall is a pretty intricate one,
17:07and I'm really happy on how it turned out.
17:16So Mandy and I just bought a 60 Impala from Jay Bear.
17:19Now it's time to reveal to Joe and the guys.
17:21Oh, my God.
17:22Look at this here, Mike.
17:23Look at this.
17:24See what's going to be needed to get it running and on the road.
17:26Did you get another car?
17:27I guess I did.
17:28I guess I did, Mike.
17:29I guess I did get another car.
17:31Well, that one don't need to be worked on, though.
17:33I like this kind of car.
17:34So Mandy and Shag just showed up with a 60 Impala.
17:37It looks super solid.
17:38This car looks awesome.
17:39My God.
17:40What a dream boat, man.
17:41Yes.
17:42Once Joe and the guys take a look at it and assess what it needs,
17:45hopefully it doesn't need much, and it's pretty turnkey,
17:48and we got a good deal on this ride.
17:50This one's ready to drive.
17:52Is it?
17:53Is it?
17:54Well, we may have to go cruising, man.
17:56Wow.
17:57It's a solid car.
17:58Wait.
17:59It's not running.
18:00Oh, it's not running.
18:01You can tell, you know, it's had some shabby paintwork over the years,
18:04but, I mean, everything's there.
18:05It's super solid.
18:06Just a very solid, you know, southern car.
18:09Well, I don't think we'll have any problem selling a 60 Impala.
18:12You're not all like that, man.
18:13Let me see.
18:14Oh, damn, Mike.
18:15I guarantee you to start.
18:16We can work with that.
18:17I can guarantee you to start.
18:29The 36 Ford trunk panels are pretty rotted out,
18:32just years and years of holding water,
18:34so we're gonna get those replaced.
18:38They're close to what the original shape is.
18:41But, yeah, you'll still need to massage it around and get it to fit.
18:54This 36 Ford was Brian's first solo effort.
18:57It's impressive how much original metal he was able to keep.
19:01I'm really impressed, and I'm really proud of him.
19:06Just piece by piece, kind of like building a puzzle
19:09and then putting the puzzle together.
19:16We're ready.
19:17Yeah, I got the shape in my panel here.
19:19I need to do a little more tweaking on it,
19:23so I can get it to lay down flatter.
19:25So right here, you can see my panel curves this way.
19:28I got it a little too curved, so this up here, I need to bring back and flatten out a little bit.
19:41Once I'm to this point now, it's just little increments of moving this panel around,
19:46getting it to fit as best I can.
19:48That way I have a really nice fitment before I weld anything on.
19:54I got all my rust repair panels all welded in and metal finished.
19:58I have one little panel on the other side I need to finish welding in,
20:02and then I will be able to drop this body back down onto the frame.
20:05Yeah, it's amazing the gains Brian's made.
20:08I mean, just in the last few years, now he's got a solo project with his 36.
20:11I mean, he's built everything on the floors, firewall,
20:14making all the pieces that we can't buy, making them out of scratch.
20:17It's amazing what he's done in that short amount of time.
20:24So I got the 60 Impala here at the shop,
20:26and we got some issues with it mechanically.
20:28The car's not running.
20:29So I got a plan here.
20:32I figured he'd be the man for the job.
20:34So I'm gonna put Uncle Bill on it,
20:35see if we can get this thing fired up.
20:37Might be a coil situation, might be a fuel pump situation.
20:40Not sure.
20:41All right, well, let me spin it over.
20:42You see if you can get some fuel in there.
20:43All right, yeah.
20:47Fire in the hole.
20:49All right.
20:50Well, hopefully.
20:56Well, Amanda and Shag bought this 60 Impala.
21:04So we're gonna try to sell the thing.
21:06Try it again, Joe.
21:12There's no fuel coming in.
21:14No fuel?
21:15No, it's not getting any fuel.
21:17All right.
21:18It's gonna be something with the fuel system.
21:20I do have an interesting note on this car.
21:22Look at this.
21:23The miles were 59,999.
21:27Oh, really?
21:2859,999.
21:29Now, look, it's just 60,000 straight across.
21:32Really?
21:33Just turned 60?
21:3460,000.
21:35I mean, right on the nose.
21:37The 60 Impala is a very sought-after car.
21:40I mean, you got 59 and 60.
21:4159 is probably more so.
21:43But the 60 is just one of those cars getting harder to find.
21:46It's a museum piece.
21:47It is.
21:48Hell, yeah.
21:4960,000 miles on this car.
21:50Is that right?
21:51Woo!
21:52Let's hopefully Uncle Bill get this thing running.
21:54Maybe find a new customer that wants to rebuild the car.
21:56Or maybe flip it and make a little money.
21:58Let me know what you come up with.
22:00Yeah.
22:01And hopefully go for a ride later.
22:02Ooh!
22:09I'm about to put this body down on this chassis.
22:11You wanna give me some eyeballs?
22:13It's a pretty big moment in the process of the build.
22:15Finally getting the body mounted to the chassis,
22:18and it'll stay there for quite a while until I'm finished, really.
22:22How about I work the thing and you eyeball?
22:25Easier for me, man.
22:27You don't even know how to work it.
22:29I don't even know how to work this one.
22:31It's a little button.
22:33See, you picked the hard job.
22:35This is the easy one.
22:37Cue the elevator music.
22:38Is it close already?
22:40It should go right down onto it.
22:42Should it?
22:43Yeah.
22:44It looks pretty good.
22:54Good?
22:55Yeah, you're good.
22:59Good?
23:00Yeah.
23:01I think we're right on it.
23:02Thanks, K-Dub.
23:03That's it?
23:04Yep, that's it.
23:05That's it.
23:06You need help like that again?
23:07Call me.
23:08Come back.
23:10Yeah.
23:11I think I'll start on all of my pedals.
23:13Oh, your pedals?
23:14Yeah.
23:15That's the next one.
23:16Oh, that's why you left your floor out, huh?
23:17Yeah, I wanted to leave that out so I didn't have to cut my floor a bunch of times.
23:20Get in there easier.
23:21It's looking good.
23:22It's coming together nicely.
23:23Yeah.
23:24I'm pumped with it.
23:25Yeah, it's turning out really good.
23:27I'm just trying to grow and be like you, so...
23:30Well, you're already taller than me, though.
23:33I was taller than you when I was 12, K-Dub.
23:39Everything dropped down really nicely and all the bolt holes line up.
23:43So I'll get all the bolts put in it and lock down to where it doesn't move.
23:51Now that I got the Moto Gordia, my floor finished out and all the rust down there taken care of,
23:57got to move on to my pedals.
23:59All right, let's go see how crooked this is.
24:04I got to mount the pedals where they originally are.
24:09See how much space I have between the two for my pedal pads.
24:13That's a little tricky to do.
24:15All right.
24:16I'm ready to test it out.
24:21I got to create enough spacing so you don't hit one pedal with the other pedal as you're trying to hit the clutch and the brake.
24:28You know, this pedals thing has its ups and downs.
24:34I'll have to notch out my frame.
24:37It's going.
24:38I do need to move my clutch pedal over a little bit more than what I have it now.
24:43I'll take it all back apart.
24:44Bend it a little bit more.
24:45Put it all back together.
24:46And test it.
24:47It's a very tedious job.
24:48And if this is wrong, you'll know it every single time you sit in the car.
24:53No pressure.
25:24In this case, I think we've got a problem with it sucking air from the hose that goes from the fuel pump to the steel line that goes back to the gas tank.
25:34So I'm going to change some of the rubber lines on here because all this stuff is old.
25:42Fire in the hole.
25:43You ready?
25:44Fire in the hole.
25:45Yeah, all right.
25:46Yeah, go.
25:53Woo, yeah.
25:54Looks good.
25:55No leaks.
25:57Now it's a warm up a little, man.
25:59You'll have to warm up a little, Matt.
26:05Damn.
26:06That sounds pretty damn good.
26:07Next thing we're going to do is clean this car up and detail it a little bit, and then
26:11we've got a little car show we're going to go down to, to the trading post, and maybe
26:15somebody will be interested in it.
26:16All right.
26:17Well, I'm going to lead you at it.
26:18Good work.
26:29So the new wheels arrived for Teresa's 36 Ford, and we're going to roll them out, check
26:32it out.
26:33Things came out awesome, dude.
26:34I'm going to check out the stance, so we're going to put them on and see how it looks.
26:37Come on, Brian.
26:38You can do the honors, dude.
26:39It's your ride.
26:40All right.
26:44A lot of squeaking going on.
26:45A little tight there.
26:51It's definitely exciting when you get the wheels in because, you know, you spend a lot
26:55of time measuring, anticipating sizes, you know, the fitment in the fender wheel, custom
27:01frames, all that stuff.
27:02You know, it's hard to envision it without the wheels on the car.
27:05Well, we might have to let the rear end down.
27:11Yeah, we're a little too tight.
27:12Yeah.
27:13Notice they're a little tight in the rear fender.
27:15You know, the rear fender's got a lot of mass to it, so we want to have to lower the
27:19rear end, get them in there.
27:23Damn.
27:24Bastard.
27:29See where you at?
27:30Where you at?
27:31He's got a corner.
27:32Here we go.
27:33Watch your fingers, bro.
27:34There it is, man.
27:38Down a little bit?
27:39Down just a tad, man.
27:42Stubborn bastard.
27:44Let's see if I can get it going with this.
27:48Oh, wait.
27:49Is it going?
27:50Oh, yeah, brother.
27:51It was a little tight, but as usual, got to drop the rear end to get the wheels in.
27:56Wheel day.
27:57Sure does fill up that fender.
27:58It sure does, dude.
28:05Those are way easier, man.
28:06Oh, yeah.
28:11That was worth the wait, huh?
28:12Yeah.
28:13The thing that's really cool about these wheels is that they kind of simulate the 36 Ford steel
28:18wheel, the stamped steel wheel.
28:19People say, well, why don't you just find an original wheel?
28:21Well, they didn't make them in 17, 18, whatever diameters.
28:25You get these custom diameters, custom widths.
28:27Well, man, I say we get it down on the ground and take a look at it, man.
28:29Just a very traditional looking wheel, but billet machine wheel simulates the old wheel.
28:35This is the moment we all wait for right here.
28:37This is the oh or oh moment.
28:40Right?
28:41It's like oh or oh.
28:42That's like damn or damn.
28:44That's right.
28:45It can go either way on you.
28:46That's right.
28:48We have to turn here.
28:49We rolled it out and checked out the stance.
28:54I think it looks killer.
28:55Damn.
28:56Is it a damn or a damn?
28:58That's a damn.
28:59That's a big difference from when it got here.
29:02Dude.
29:03That thing's hot roddish looking.
29:04Dude, you know what it needs, man?
29:06One more inch.
29:07We're down.
29:08The back will drop down a little bit.
29:10Those wheels are killer, dude.
29:11The back is going to drop down about an inch with the little adapter that we have.
29:16But overall, everything's looking good.
29:18That's awesome, man.
29:20Good work, Brian.
29:21Good work.
29:22Thanks.
29:23Looks killer, dude.
29:24That's real cool.
29:25Now that we got the wheels fitted, I can move on to the fenders and get those all finished up.
29:34You know, Brian's been doing a killer job on his 36 Ford.
29:37And these fenders have been a big challenge.
29:39You got that thing tidied up, Brian.
29:41It's getting there.
29:42You got something going on here.
29:43A little something-something.
29:44Yeah.
29:45The driver's side needs a lot more work than the passenger side did.
29:49Especially this rear fender here.
29:50There's a lot of rotted metal and parts of it torn and things like that.
29:55And there's a giant dent in the top of it.
29:59Starting off, I'm going to get all the big dents taken care of.
30:03I'm going to get the original shape back to the fender.
30:10And then go back and fix rotted pieces and things like that.
30:15Yeah, I got to build some patch panels for this rear fender.
30:18Some of them are going to be a little intricate just because of the shape that they have to be.
30:28Take me a little time to get them all worked in.
30:31I got my patch panel all welded.
31:00Metal finished end.
31:02Now I'm just going to continue to hammer and dolly the rest of the fender.
31:16Once I get that all welded in and stuff, going into the running board is pretty easy to line everything up.
31:23Patches O'Houlihan is going to be my new name.
31:26Push this thing out in the sun here.
31:30You ready to go, Brian?
31:31Yes, sir.
31:32Brian's driving.
31:33What a cool rig.
31:34Yeah, this is a cool rig.
31:35God, look at that motor.
31:36It is killer, man.
31:37Sits awesome, too.
31:38It's kind of neat that it ain't.
31:39It's not chopped.
31:40Well, I mean, I think if you get that stance like it needs to be, there's no need to.
31:43I know it.
31:44And there's a lot of motor chopped out there nowadays.
31:46I know, man.
31:47You keep saying chop, Brian.
31:48It's almost cooler.
31:49You forgot who you're talking to.
31:50Well, they don't want it, man.
31:51They don't want to do it.
31:52So we're having a safe zone.
31:53You don't want to do it either?
31:54Yeah.
31:55You just keep doing it.
31:56I mean, I don't want to chop it either, guys.
31:57I don't want to get done.
31:58I love it.
31:59Mike always says, you know, he gets mad when I say we're going to chop something.
32:02Then all of a sudden, he's all in it.
32:03I'm sure they're going to dig it.
32:04We're going to dig it.
32:05They ought to be here any minute.
32:06Teresa and Dave are coming in, and they're going to get fitted for the seats on the 36 Ford.
32:11This is a unique piece of motoring furniture.
32:12You know, the headliner, the door panels, everything's got to be perfect.
32:17Hey, how are you?
32:18Come by the hall, right?
32:19Hey, it looks awesome.
32:20How are you?
32:21How are you doing?
32:22I'm great.
32:23How are you doing?
32:24How are you doing?
32:25I'm great.
32:26How are you doing?
32:27How are you doing?
32:28Good.
32:29Good.
32:30Good.
32:31Good.
32:32Good.
32:33Good.
32:34Good.
32:35Good.
32:36Good.
32:37Good.
32:38Good.
32:39Good.
32:40Good.
32:41Good.
32:42I thought it was really cool to have those wheels on this car.
32:43It looks good, and that's why we like to get it outside, to kind of stand back and look
32:46at it, you know?
32:47And he's pretty much salvaged all the factory metal.
32:49You know, Brian made those pieces on the Pullmax.
32:51He made a special die.
32:52Well, this thing is like, what, 87 years old or something?
32:56Considering what it looked like when it came in here.
32:58Yeah, Mouse Hotel.
32:59Yeah.
33:01This comes from the 70s, dog.
33:03We've got some work to do, though.
33:04I think there's a rat resort in there somewhere.
33:07Yeah.
33:08When we dropped it off, it was rusty and had dents.
33:10Mouse Motel.
33:11Yeah.
33:12Had mice in it.
33:13I think they even found a ACDC CD from when my brother drove it back in the early 80s.
33:22Early 80s.
33:23Yeah.
33:24And it's been sitting since then.
33:26Oh.
33:27I brought my dad's title, the original title and paperwork.
33:32Oh, man.
33:33Oh, my gosh.
33:34They don't even make titles like this anymore.
33:35No.
33:36Licensed office.
33:37Look at this.
33:38Sale price of the car, $25.
33:39$25.
33:40Yes.
33:41$25.
33:42$25.
33:43Probably can't fill it up with gas for $25.
33:44No.
33:45Absolutely not do that.
33:46Yeah.
33:47That's really cool.
33:48Her dad and I hit it off real good.
33:50Uh-huh.
33:51Oh, that's good.
33:52Well, we liked hot rods and stuff.
33:53Yeah.
33:54He used to tell me that in his mom and dad's yard, the tree, I had to hoist in the back
33:59because about every other weekend, he'd tear the rear end up, ride drag racing it.
34:03He had to hoist, and he'd hoist it up in the tree in the backyard and work on it every
34:08week.
34:09It looks awesome.
34:10I'm glad you like it.
34:11I'm glad you like it.
34:12I think it's coming along really good.
34:16Looking good, Brian, looking good.
34:23They have worked on the fenders, the firewall.
34:28There's a lot of work.
34:29Pressure's really on us.
34:31Not only does the entire car have to be great, but the interior has to be spot on.
34:36All right.
34:37Let's see.
34:38Trees, jump in there.
34:39Believe it or not, this car is actually going to be sitting right in their living room.
34:44It's going to be something that everybody that comes over to visit them doesn't have
34:47to walk out to the garage.
34:48They actually walk in their house, and there it is.
34:51It's a piece of art, rolling art.
34:52It's going to be the pride of their collection, I think.
34:55Yeah.
34:56Are pedals good for you?
34:57Yeah.
34:58Are they okay?
34:59I think so if you want to get cushioned behind.
35:00Yeah, you'll be way up.
35:01You'll be about four inches.
35:02And a little bit taller.
35:03Here's the steering wheel we got for you.
35:04Mm-hmm.
35:05Well, I think that stock location's going to work.
35:09Nice.
35:10That's awesome.
35:11I love this steering wheel.
35:12I do, too.
35:13That's awesome.
35:14That's pretty.
35:15Yeah, and Dave can even drive it, too.
35:16He can move it way back.
35:17Yeah, seat scoots back.
35:18You've got plenty of room.
35:19You can put luggage in there.
35:20Mm-hmm.
35:21You know, the kids can kind of crawl through and get in the rumble seat and stuff.
35:23Yeah.
35:24I can remember when we were still in high school, and she would talk about her dad taking
35:28her out when she was little and giving her a ride in rumble seat.
35:32Hopefully the rain will hold up.
35:33Well, baby blue, you did the camera haul.
35:35This is a really exciting day.
35:39We're off to our little pre-party with a bunch of gear heads, and we're actually going to
35:44put a for sale sign on the 60 Impala.
35:45Hoping we can get a really good price so we can put that money back into the business.
35:46We're here today for the pre-party for the Lone Star Roundup.

36:10We're here today for the pre-party for the Lone Star Roundup.
36:14And guess who else is here?
36:16Martin Brothers Customs, Amanda, and Joe, and those whole guys.
36:17We're all here celebrating today, getting ready for the big show.
36:19And let's get the band rocking and rolling.
36:24Woo-hoo!

37:15pretty interested in it
37:18cool look pretty excited now is that an x-frame this is x-frame car yeah this
37:26is a bone stock 60 Impala yeah so 283 283 yep runs great just a good solid car
37:33somebody did a shy paint job on it about 25 years ago from what I understand how's
37:39the how's the body the body seems to be nice I mean there's I'm Jed Davidson I'm
37:43from Friendswood Texas come up here with my buddy to do the garage crawl look at
37:49the car show and everything that's all this 60 Impala right here I really like
37:52it well come take a look at it man it's I mean the thing that's cool about the
37:57car is hasn't ever really been messed with you know engine good shape the engine
38:02yeah it's pretty much bone stock but runs great 283 yes sir yeah don't know
38:05whether it's the original engine I'm sure I mean it runs great doesn't seem to
38:09smoke good so it runs pretty strong you know for 283 anyway yeah transmission
38:14works great seems to run cool oh power three-speed really so I got somebody
38:19put a turbo 350 in it okay at one point so still x-frame still the stock frame bone
38:24stock frame but you know the car underneath man it's super solid can I
38:28combine that'd be great yeah yeah come drive it and see what you think of it you
38:32know I'll give you a shout in the morning that'd be awesome man
38:36always good to see you hey you too brother yeah I'm Tyler Boone I'm Dave David
38:48Teresa Teresa nice to meet you guys I'll be taking care of the inside of your car
38:51here that's right this is our family heirloom right here I've been in the
38:54family since 1960 I think that's better than any heirloom I've got in my family I
38:59know it I'm gonna get passed down something I want to do something like
39:02this exactly heck yeah so I think what we kind of talked about sort of a
39:06traditional look kind of you know we don't want it we don't want to go too
39:09far out of the box right and then on the back the rubble seat the springs and
39:14stuff are about this wide pin them down yeah her other car it has it it's about
39:19this thing is it it's miserable there's no room just making a daily
39:24drivable traditional hot rod mm-hmm it's gonna go in her living room though
39:29tell you that cool go pick up grandkids from school you get you could drive in
39:33the garage door park in the living room yeah it can be the pride of the living
39:37room man we want to look good sitting there we want to you know be a part of
39:42the family we are really really really nice mm-hmm well we can do that the
39:49thickness there I'm going with foam you're gonna lose the ability to to fold the
39:53forward to get behind oh yeah that's the only issue I'm seeing if we can get
39:57two inches another two inches forward okay it's gonna give us plenty of play
40:00yeah cuz I don't want to build it out too far because if she's driving near
40:03sitting your feet are gonna be all the way up into the firewall so we kind of
40:08want to be thinking about both both people in the car being able to to sit in and
40:12drive it maybe every once in once he'll let me drive it you drive it more me
40:17because I'm right in the back with the kids
40:23saw the car yesterday at the trading post well come take a look at it man it's a
40:29bone stock 60 Impala and when I looked at it and next thing I know there's all
40:34these cameras I thought I was getting in the way right and soft was for sale and
40:39thought well talk to him about it you know and told him I'd come take a test drive
40:42go on Joe yeah what's happening I was hoping you'd come today and look at this
40:46thing looks pretty yeah we got it out ready for you want to go for a ride I'm
40:49ready to take it for a spin all right man
40:59I was surprised to you you know if you're driving the car get the car going man
41:03out you know it's not a lot of rattles and stuff in the thing you know it's a
41:06pretty solid little car but you know and what's funny is you know the new cars
41:11they're like go like that they're like that's right that's right how long you
41:15had it I haven't had it very long three or four months now maybe this car is so
41:20nice and solid kind of hate to do anything to it yeah I mean it'd be just
41:24worth it to do a nice paint job on it eventually you know or it's driving the
41:29way it is well that's the thing you know you kind of enjoy it more like this
41:32because you don't have to worry about it you know if it's perfect then you know
41:35you're worried about chipping it or getting in the rain and you know even with a
41:38stock frame it's rides pretty decent I mean it rides nice everything seems to
41:44function good doesn't make a lot of rattles and stuff and just a
41:49presentable fun car on a day like this doesn't get in and drive around in it
41:53yeah Brian's good yeah it ain't bad
41:58like it a lot yeah I haven't driven an old car like this one in a while all right
42:03so no power steering no power brakes but all good pretty car good ride good
42:10solid car yeah I know it you don't actually push all of them you do man so
42:17Jed just test drove the car and I think he's really digging it that sounds good
42:21yeah the only thing that's gonna keep uh keep me from just the boss oh yeah yeah
42:28well that's the thing too yeah don't don't feel compelled no no no we'll just
42:31keep it just say hey you know let me think about it whatever you want to do is that
42:33okay oh absolutely he liked the car he liked it the other day when he saw it so
42:38he drove it he was pretty impressed I mean being for an old car I'll get back to
42:41you as soon as I can I appreciate it man thanks thanks for coming to look at it
42:44man Shag and I were able to negotiate Jay Baer of all people down to 27.5 for
42:51the Impala so I'm asking price for the car was 30 grand and Jed agreed to the
42:55price he was happy we were happy went home made a little money
43:01with these door panels just what that's straight out of the 1980s that's
43:07hilarious decent I've seen it all now
43:11what's funny about this thing like there's not a stitch of carpet on the floor
43:15are my arms crossed I know
