00:00Last night, Aston Villa's incredible European adventure came to a valiant end as Paris Saint-Germain booted their place in the Champions League semi-finals.
00:11So too did Barcelona, although the Catalans got a bit of a fright away at Borussia Dortmund.
00:18Tonight, the last two spots will be claimed. Arsenal are in Madrid on the brink of dethroning the champions.
00:25While here, our focus is the clash in Milan as Inter look to press home their advantage against German giants Bayern Munich.
00:36The top team in Germany against the top team in Italy.
00:40For Bayern and Inter, it's about keeping the dream alive.
00:44This is Guerrero trying to get this shot away. Does that spill by Sonner.
00:49And this is Michael Alisse setting up Harry Kane.
00:52Oh, it's in the outside of the post.
00:55Here's Turam in the centre.
00:56Setting it back for Martinez.
00:59And Inter have started on the lead.
01:03A chirpy away.
01:04And Guerrero is there.
01:07Kimmich with a lovely cross to the back post.
01:09Step back into the middle.
01:11It's smuggling.
01:12Of course it's Thomas Muller.
01:14Right play, right side.
01:161-1.
01:17Big chance at the end.
01:18And it's smuggled in again.
01:20Brattese off the bench.
01:22They will be taking a lead back to Milan.
01:24A dramatic night in Munich leaves this quarter-final intriguingly poised.
01:34And tonight, San Siro provides a fittingly grand backdrop for its thrilling conclusion.
01:41Inter remain top of Serie A despite making six changes for Saturday's win over Cagliari.
01:46Tonight, though, Simone Inzaghi reverts to his best available 11.
01:51The only change from the first leg is Federico Di Marco coming in at left wing-back for Colos Augusto.
01:59Meanwhile, Bayern stayed on course to regain the Bundesliga title despite a draw with Dortmund.
02:05But their squad remains depleted as they look to come back in this tie.
02:09Vincent Kompany also makes one change from last week.
02:12Thomas Muller starting in that number 10 position with Raphael Guerrero dropping to the bench.
02:20And along at Side Me, once again this evening, Joe Cole and Owen Hargreaves.
02:25Hopefully it's going to be as much fun as it was last night.
02:28George, do you still feel that whoever goes through in this one is the favourite to reach the final on this side of the draw?
02:35Yeah, just slightly.
02:36Just slightly.
02:36And I think it's because of the experience in both teams.
02:39I think a slightly favourite, Inter.
02:43They've got the edge, the goal.
02:46Di Marco coming back in at left wing-back, I think it's massive for them.
02:49Big decision from Kompany to play Thomas Muller.
02:53You know, I just look at that middle area of the pitch and I think, you know, with Mkhitaryan, Barella and Canoglu in there against Kimmich and Goretzka,
03:02Muller's going to have to drop in there at times and become that sort of third defensive.
03:05And at his age, has he got the legs, you know, particularly with the system that Inter Milan plays?
03:11I think that's a crucial area to look at.
03:13But I do think both of these teams are equipped to go to the final and are slightly more experienced than Barca.
03:20And it really delivered last week, didn't it?
03:22Inter put in a really good away performance.
03:25Do you think Bayern got a bit unlucky, though, the injuries they've got to key players at the moment?
03:30Yeah, that's fair.
03:31I mean, that's the biggest difference.
03:33Inter are pretty much fully fit in Bayern.
03:35You know, they're missing one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Inouye, Upa Meccano, Alphonso Davies,
03:40and probably their best player outside of Harry Kane in Jamal Musiala.
03:43So people have to step up.
03:45They've got a really good squad.
03:46But I think with Inter being fully fit in that goal advantage, they're in a brilliant position to finish this stuff.
03:52They've only conceded three goals in the Champions League lands.
03:54These guys barely concede any goals.
03:55So it's going to need a special Harry Kane or Thomas Muller or Lise to finish the job.
04:01And as Joe said, the change for them is DiMarco coming back in.
04:05Augusto played well, though.
04:07But that team, as expected, Owen?
04:10Yeah, I mean, they pretty much don't change it, Linz.
04:13I mean, this team is so good.
04:15Bastoni's probably one of the best centre-backs in the world, in my opinion.
04:17Can play as a centre-back, can play on the left as well.
04:20DiMarco creates so much for this team.
04:22Macheri, you know, the amount of work he gets to as a, you know, he's in his mid-30s, Linz, and he puts in a shift.
04:27But again, that midfield three is brilliant.
04:29Barella, Chaleno, Glu and Mkhitaryan, as Joe mentioned.
04:32But at the top of the pitch, Tarama and Martinez, they are absolutely clinical.
04:36As they were, they're decisive in the big moments.
04:38They were in that first leg.
04:40And that's the biggest difference between this Inter team.
04:42Thomas Muller did start in the Classica against Dortmund at the weekend.
04:46He was man of the match in that one.
04:48He does come in, as you said, Joe.
04:50Do you think it could be set up for a fairytale finish for him at his home stadium?
04:55Well, that would be, you know, the lads' careers are just unbelievable.
05:00You know, World Cup winner, Champions League winner, Munich lad coming through, won everything.
05:04And to have maybe his last game at his home stadium playing for his club in the Champions League final.
05:09It's there.
05:10They've got a tall order.
05:11I think it's going to look more like Elisa and Sané, either side of Kane and Muller.
05:16They've got a big night.
05:17They have to win their duels one-on-one.
05:20You know, what you would say is if they do get the better of the fullbacks and get crosses in,
05:24there is not two better finishers in World Football than Muller and Kane in crucial moments in games.
05:29And the thing is, as well, Muller and Kane have a brilliant understanding together,
05:33which I think is hugely important in a game.
05:35Thomas might be in his mid-30s, but I don't think it matters in a game like this.
05:39Because I don't think Inter play that way, either.
05:41They have some, you know, Mkhitaryans that age as well, Achebe is.
05:44So, you know, they just need him to be deciphered to play that final pass in a crucial moment.
05:48If he does, Bayern could be going through.
05:50And experience is often what's key in games like this.
05:53We're going to get the latest now from San Siro.
05:56Our reporter Patrick Kendrick is pitch side alongside European football expert James Horncastle.
06:04James, the reaction in Germany to last week's first leg victory for Inter
06:08has seemed to be that they felt Inter were over-celebrating.
06:11What's been the response to Inter's win in Italy?
06:14Well, you've got to remember that they went into that Bayern game under,
06:19well, they felt under-appreciated because they were 2-0 up in Parma
06:23and they threw that game away.
06:25They drew 2-2.
06:26And a lot of people in Italy were saying,
06:28this Inter side is so good they should be running away with the title race.
06:31They're not.
06:32Napoli is still in it.
06:33So for Inter to go and perform the way that they did in Bayern,
06:37it felt like they proved a lot of their detractors wrong.
06:42The fact that Inter should be running away with the title domestically,
06:46does that mean that the perception of them has changed somewhat?
06:49I know a couple of years ago when they reached the final of this competition,
06:52they felt a little bit under-appreciated.
06:54Has the perception changed since then?
06:56I think, if anything, it's only intensified the pressure on them
07:00because everybody knows that Inter have the credibility now
07:05of a great European side.
07:09Inter came away from losing to Man City and Istanbul,
07:11believing that they could have won that game.
07:13They played with an aura through all of last season.
07:15They set really high standards.
07:17I think that's where some of the criticism has been coming this season
07:20because they haven't seen Inter play as well as they did last year.
07:23But against Bayern, particularly if you saw the football
07:27that went into that first goal of theirs,
07:30it's not a counter-attacking goal.
07:31It's just a mastery of possession football.
07:34Back to front, back to front.
07:36Incredible finish.
07:37Just goes to show how accomplished this team is.
07:41The team is still coached by the same man
07:42that took them to the Champions League final two years ago,
07:44Simoni Inzaghi.
07:45He wouldn't be drawn on his future yesterday in his press conference.
07:47Do you see him staying where they're into two indeed complete the treble
07:50or whether they end up with the dreaded zero titoli?
07:54Well, I think if they were to win a treble,
07:56I mean, what else can he achieve here, really?
08:00But as you know, when you're coming here every week,
08:04you do feel the history of this place.
08:06San Siro kind of just, the walls just sweat history.
08:09It's a huge club.
08:11He is, even though he comes under criticism sometimes,
08:14he is adored here.
08:15I don't think at the moment, going into the summer,
08:19there are jobs that would appeal to him that are bigger than this.
08:22You know, I don't think, for example, Tottenham right now
08:24is certainly a step up from what he's been doing at Inter.
08:29So I'd expect him to sign a new deal with Inter.
08:31And we'll see whether he can inspire Inter to a victory tonight.
08:34Thank you, guys.
08:38Well, Inter may be the favourites to progress in this tie,
08:41but Bayern have an outstanding record at San Siro against the Nerazzurri,
08:46winning on all four of their previous visits,
08:48including in 2022 when they became the last team
08:52to beat Inzaghi's men at home in the Champions League.
08:56We'll have more build-up next.

12:59Welcome back.
13:0915 years ago, Inter won the Champions League to complete an historic treble.
13:14And now this Nerazzurri side are on course to repeat that feat.
13:18Patrick Kendrick has caught up with a man who played a huge part in that 2010 triumph.
13:24Former Dutch international Wesley Schneider.
13:28Wesley, you achieved so much in your career.
13:31You played for Real Madrid.
13:32You played for Ajax.
13:33You played in the World Cup final.
13:35But it's with Inter that you're most remembered.
13:37Was that the highlight of your career?
13:38That treble in 2010?
13:40Ah, definitely.
13:41I think like highlights are made by prizes.
13:45So when I was a kid in 1995 and I saw Ajax raising the cup.
13:51I said to my parents, this is the prize that I want to win.
13:55This is the prize I'm dreaming of.
13:58So that moment that I raised the trophy in Madrid was for me amazing.
14:03They're very superstitious here in Italy.
14:07Inter play against Bayern Munich.
14:09If they get through, they're against Barcelona in a semi-final.
14:12Do you see any parallels between 2010 and this season beyond the opposition as well?
14:18Yeah, definitely.
14:19Definitely.
14:20I think that if you look at this team, Inter, they're really balanced with individual qualities also.
14:27What we had also in the past.
14:29And if you face again, if you win tonight and you face Barcelona in the semi-final, it's exactly going to be the same.
14:38So, yeah, I would love that that will happen and that they will play the final again.
14:44Two years ago, they were close to win it.
14:45And this year, they deserve it.
14:48The coach in 2010 was Jose Mourinho.
14:50I know he's like a father figure to a lot of you players from that team.
14:53Do you see any parallels between the current coach, Simone Antaghi, and Mourinho?
14:58That's hard to say because I'm not in a dressing room every day.
15:01But, yeah, he is really close to the team.
15:05You see that he is, yeah, like one of the father as well of the players.
15:12So, in that sense, yeah, he might be in the same style, the same way acting as Mourinho did back in the days.
15:21But, yeah, still, still, you need to win this prize to be exact on the same level.
15:29So, he is on his way, but still not there.
15:33Let's hope he completes the journey later on this season.
15:36Thank you, Wes.
15:36Exactly. Thank you very much. Appreciate it.
15:40Thank you, Patrick.
15:41How they would love to emulate that 2010 side.
15:44A team renowned for their brilliant defence, as this one are.
15:47But I know you both have been really impressed as well, Joe, with the way that they build their attacks.
15:52Yes, it's really, really...
15:54It's such a...
15:55It's great to see a side with a different style, different patterns of play.
15:58Here, Barella dropping right back in the central defence position, you know,
16:02and using his passing range, switching the play.
16:05You know, Bastoni here, he starts high, then he comes in.
16:08Then, as it breaks, he breaks through the middle of the field.
16:11They're so fluid.
16:12They've got so much movement.
16:14You know, and he was getting behind at will at times in this game.
16:17And I think it's the system, so the manager needs a lot of credit.
16:20The goalkeeper's a very good distribution as well, Aaron, isn't he?
16:22Yeah, and to be fair, they try and play between lines,
16:25but if you press, they'll go long, like they did for this first goal.
16:28Brilliant link-up play between Teram and Martinez.
16:30They get it wide.
16:31Bastoni into Augusto.
16:33How about this for a goal?
16:33All the way from the goalkeeper, a little set from Teram,
16:36and just finish it off with outside of their little Travella into the top corner.
16:40I mean, that's as good a goal as you'll see against a team like Bayern Munich as well.
16:43And this is the second one.
16:44If you're going to go and press, we'll come inside.
16:46Borella, a little turn.
16:47Look at Fertesi.
16:47Makes that opposite run.
16:49Spacing behind.
16:52You know, at 1-1, they'd probably be happy with that, Linz.
16:54But at 2-1, it's a massive goal.
16:56Completely changes the tie, I think, for Inter.
16:59And they're in the driver's seat right now.
17:01And obviously, with a little shot of Martinez there, he's the talisman.
17:04You know, they've got goals at the top of the pitch,
17:06but defensively, they're so impressive as well.
17:08That man in your picture there, Martinez and Teram, up against Kim and Eric Dier.
17:16Very, very difficult night.
17:18Them two are going to have Kim and Dier against them too, you'd imagine.
17:20Yeah, they're so lethal.
17:22Those front two for Inter.
17:24Bayern, though, have to be more clinical tonight, Owen, don't they?
17:27They had 20 shots in that first.
17:29Like, seven of them on target and obviously just the one goal.
17:32Yeah, I mean, to be fair, Lise was probably the star of the show.
17:35This one he does brilliantly.
17:36I mean, he puts it on the plate for Harry.
17:38You think 99 times out of 100, that's in.
17:41You know, he just hits the post there.
17:44Bayern dominated, by the way.
17:46You know, they had more possession.
17:48I think they had 20 shots.
17:50Inter only had 10, but they were clinical Inter.
17:52And once Thomas Muller came on, you know, he got the goal.
17:56You thought, would they go get another one?
17:57But they need to be more clinical today, Lise.
17:59They'll dominate possession.
18:01They'll probably create more chances.
18:02But they need to get their Harry, the ball, in and around the ball.
18:05If they do, Bayern could win this game.
18:07Is there a bit of pressure on Harry Kane tonight to give them more, Joel?
18:11He's bought for nights like these.
18:14Let's not get it right.
18:15He's scoring.
18:16He's doing brilliantly.
18:18You know, we know what a talented goal scorer and what a brilliant player he is.
18:21And he's doing everything he needs to do.
18:23But these are the nights you're bought for.
18:24You have a sense of that, don't you, with the big players.
18:27He had his moment last week and he didn't put it away.
18:32If he gets a chance tonight, he needs to put it away.
18:35He does.
18:36Sommer's a good goalkeeper.
18:37But I still think, I think if you, he's brilliant with his distribution.
18:42He's technically very good.
18:43But I think Harry Kane gets an opportunity, hit the corners like he usually does.
18:48Get, Munich need to get in front.
18:51They need to score first, I feel.
18:52Yeah, they need a big performance from their talisman tonight.
18:56Well, it promises to be quite a night out in Milan.
18:59Can Inter seal the deal and advance to the final four?
19:03Or will Bayern silence San Siro again and revive their dreams of a fairytale home final?
19:10Kick-off in this quarter-final.
19:12Second leg is next.
