00:00:00Let's go up to James Brown as we get ready for the heavyweights.
00:00:05All right, Jim, thank you very much.
00:00:07And speaking of the confidence of Goyo Vargas, he had remarked prior to the bout
00:00:10that the straight-ahead style employed by John John Molina should fit right into his bag.
00:00:15In fact, every fighter who's employed that style had fallen quickly,
00:00:18that would not be the case tonight as John John Molina looked very, very formidable
00:00:22as he defended his title successfully.
00:00:24All right, the last time that TVK brought you heavyweight championship fighting
00:00:28was from right here at Caesars Palace.
00:00:30That back on November the 6th, the rematch of Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe.
00:00:35And the fight was a memorable one not only for what took place in the ring
00:00:38but outside the ring as well.
00:00:40That was the night that fight fans were shocked by the paraglider you see here,
00:00:44James Miller, a.k.a. Fan Man, who stopped the fight by flying in early in the seventh round.
00:00:51As you take a look, he actually tried to land in the ring, was caught on the ropes,
00:00:55and that stopped the fight for about 21 minutes.
00:00:59The security force here at Caesars Palace responded quickly,
00:01:02and this was done without regard for the safety of the combatants or the fans.
00:01:06And as you can see, Miller was the worst for the wear.
00:01:09Well, folks will be pleased to know that yesterday, in a plea bargain agreement,
00:01:13Miller was sentenced to 10 days in jail,
00:01:16an eight-day sentence because of two days he had already served.
00:01:19That sentence started yesterday,
00:01:20and, in fact, there will not be a return engagement here tonight by one James Miller.
00:01:25And that certainly has to be good news for the man sitting to my right,
00:01:28the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Caesars World, Mr. Henry Gluck.
00:01:33And, again, you really have to be pleased, at least on the part of James Miller,
00:01:36that he won't be back here tonight.
00:01:38We're indeed pleased about that because that could have been a very, very explosive situation.
00:01:43We had about 40,000 people on the property,
00:01:46and it was probably Caesars Palace at its finest hour.
00:01:49Our security people were up there, and in just a matter of seconds,
00:01:52we were able to control the crowd.
00:01:53The announcer would get up and satisfy everybody and quieted things down,
00:01:58and we were just very happy that it went away without any incident.
00:02:02And, you know, these are very, very dangerous situations.
00:02:05You spend a constant amount of time preparing for that moment,
00:02:08and when it finally comes, you hope that you're ready.
00:02:11You talk about spending countless hours preparing for that.
00:02:13You've had to do more than that now since that took place.
00:02:16What are the additional precautions that you've taken
00:02:18in case an imitator wants to try to do likewise?
00:02:21Well, the first thing we've done is we have a metro helicopter
00:02:24which is flying a reasonably low altitude, circling the stadium.
00:02:29We have about 40 additional security officers.
00:02:32We have police on every rooftop.
00:02:34We have just additional awareness of all of our security people.
00:02:37We have outside contract security officers.
00:02:39We have police dogs, bomb squads,
00:02:43just about every single precaution that you think you could be taking.
00:02:47All right, and we're certainly very pleased to hear that,
00:02:49and we look forward to a distraction-free main event tonight.
00:02:52Mr. Henry Gluck, thank you very much for joining us.
00:02:54Thank you for having me.
00:02:55All right, and in fact, the action should be only in the ring tonight,
00:02:58and that's what we're hoping for.
00:02:59So the stage is set for the heavyweight championship matchup
00:03:02that will feature Evander Holyfield and Michael Moore.
00:03:07For weeks now, two warriors have done nothing but prepare themselves.
00:03:12All their energies and all their abilities have focused on this one night
00:03:30in the Las Vegas desert.
00:03:31And as they trained, each man looked to the future,
00:03:45asking himself, what must I learn,
00:03:47and how hard must I work to defeat this man who'll stand across from me?
00:03:51And each man looked back,
00:04:12drawing encouragement and wisdom from glorious battles past.
00:04:18Look at Holyfield! What a warrior!
00:04:21Reversing the tide of the battle!
00:04:26The champion now has foam wobbling!
00:04:30Oh, that'd be hurt!
00:04:31Holyfield's hurt!
00:04:34Holyfield's gunning for a stoppage here!
00:04:37It would shock the world!
00:04:40Oh, he scores twice with the uppercut,
00:04:42and Stewart is down again!
00:04:43Now, Boris!
00:04:44Oh, he gets the ropes!
00:04:46Oh, and it's how he goes!
00:04:49But in the end,
00:04:50it all comes down to this.
00:04:57Shortly, there will be two warriors,
00:05:00two titles at stake,
00:05:02and two opposing forces.
00:05:04The will to win of Evander Holyfield
00:05:07and the power to destroy of Michael Moore.
00:05:10In the end, there will only be one victor.
00:05:13This TVKO presentation for the Heavyweight Championship of the World
00:05:22is brought to you by Budweiser.
00:05:25Proud to be your Bud.
00:05:26And on a pleasant, comfortable evening in the desert,
00:05:32a near-capacity crowd is on hand
00:05:34here at the outdoor boxing arena at Caesars Palace
00:05:36to find out if a fortune seeker
00:05:38by the name of Michael Moore,
00:05:40the number one heavyweight contender,
00:05:42can put together the right combinations
00:05:44to dethrone the current WBA
00:05:46and IVF Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield.
00:05:56And good evening once again, everyone.
00:05:58I'm James Brown.
00:05:59Well, tonight's Heavyweight Championship
00:06:00bout will feature two fighters
00:06:02who are in absolutely excellent condition.
00:06:04And I think excellent condition
00:06:05certainly was a note
00:06:06when we took a look back
00:06:08at the weigh-in on Wednesday,
00:06:10an uneventful occasion,
00:06:11but two fighters
00:06:12who certainly symbolized
00:06:13the best in being in shape.
00:06:15Michael Moore,
00:06:16very detached throughout the entire week,
00:06:19about as demonstrative as you will see
00:06:20is right here when he throws up
00:06:22that right hand,
00:06:24weighed in at 214 pounds,
00:06:25and he declared himself
00:06:27ready to take the championship.
00:06:29Evander Holyfield,
00:06:31it would be a major surprise
00:06:32if he wasn't in shape,
00:06:33also weighed in at 214 pounds,
00:06:36the first time in his eight championship fights
00:06:38that he has not been outweighed
00:06:40by the opponent.
00:06:41Evander Holyfield looking fit.
00:06:44Well, as a matter of fact,
00:06:45Evander Holyfield has been known
00:06:46throughout his illustrious boxing career
00:06:48as a guy who likes to subject his body
00:06:50to exquisite torture, if you will,
00:06:52in preparation for his fights.
00:06:54And he insists,
00:06:55despite all that's been written and said,
00:06:57he is not taking Michael Moore lightly.
00:06:59As a matter of fact,
00:07:00he mentioned last night
00:07:01that every time he's shaken the hand
00:07:03of Michael Moore,
00:07:04that vice-like grip
00:07:05has definitely gotten his attention.
00:07:08Michael Moore, on the other hand,
00:07:09said that, hey,
00:07:09I've put in an awful lot of time
00:07:11in preparing for this as well.
00:07:12130 sparring rounds in preparation,
00:07:15not just to take the two belts,
00:07:17the belts, that is,
00:07:18that Evander Holyfield possesses,
00:07:20but also to firmly etch his name,
00:07:22Mora's name,
00:07:23in the boxing record books
00:07:24as the first ever
00:07:25Southpaw heavyweight champion.
00:07:28So the stage is set.
00:07:29It's the will of Holyfield
00:07:30against the power of Michael Moore.
00:07:32And right now we take you back
00:07:33downstairs ringside once again
00:07:35to Jim Lampley.
00:07:37All right.
00:07:38Thank you very much, James Brown.
00:07:39A perfect setup for a night of mystery here.
00:07:42Much of the mystery surrounding Michael Moore,
00:07:45his purposely self-constructed,
00:07:48enigmatic personality.
00:07:49He is sometimes enigmatic in the ring as well,
00:07:52which Michael Moore will show up.
00:07:54We're about to find out.
00:07:55Larry Merchant,
00:07:56even at ringside,
00:07:58as you pointed out earlier,
00:07:59among all of the real learned experts
00:08:02of this sport,
00:08:03a lot of question marks tonight.
00:08:04Which questions are most likely
00:08:06to be answered
00:08:07in the next less than an hour?
00:08:10Well, for the champion, it's this.
00:08:12Having conquered and reconquered the world,
00:08:15having made enough money
00:08:16to retire the national debt,
00:08:18is he that type double-A driven personality
00:08:22who simply has to keep doing it,
00:08:25has to keep proving and reproving himself.
00:08:29For the challenger,
00:08:30the question is this.
00:08:32If the champion is ready to be beaten,
00:08:35can he beat him?
00:08:37Can he win the fight?
00:08:40One other thought
00:08:41before we get to the other thoughts later on.
00:08:44Much has been made
00:08:45of the challenger's southpaw style.
00:08:48It is to his advantage
00:08:50if he uses it.
00:08:52But this is a game
00:08:53more of substance than style.
00:08:56Does a fighter have it here?
00:08:57Does he have it here?
00:08:59And does he have it here?
00:09:00We know Michael Moore has it here.
00:09:02And we know that Evander Holyfield,
00:09:04at least in the past,
00:09:05has had it here and here.
00:09:07So we'll find out more
00:09:08about both fighters
00:09:09as time goes on.
00:09:10George Foreman,
00:09:11Michael Moore is not a person
00:09:13who allows you easily
00:09:14to get to know him.
00:09:16We've spent a little bit of time with him.
00:09:18You, as a heavyweight champion,
00:09:19look at him through different eyes
00:09:21than the rest of us.
00:09:21What do you see?
00:09:22What kind of guy is he?
00:09:23Is he going to be ready
00:09:24to bring that monumental effort
00:09:26to the ring tonight
00:09:27necessary to become the champion?
00:09:29One thing is good about him,
00:09:30he's undefeated.
00:09:31He's scared like anyone would be
00:09:33when you fight for the world title.
00:09:34You're walking
00:09:34and touching on history.
00:09:36He's not showing it
00:09:37and he ought not to show it.
00:09:38But this guy's got a lot inside
00:09:40that we're going to see.
00:09:41All right, let's take a look
00:09:42at some of the factors
00:09:43in the fight, George.
00:09:43And you give us your analysis
00:09:45as to which of the two fighters
00:09:46has the advantage
00:09:47in these categories we list.
00:09:49Starting with punching power.
00:09:51There's no doubt about it.
00:09:52Moore believes that he hits you,
00:09:53it hurts.
00:09:54He's got the power.
00:09:55Quickness.
00:09:56Evander Holyfield
00:09:57has had to survive
00:09:58a lot of things
00:09:59and it's because of his quickness.
00:10:00He's got it.
00:10:01Defense.
00:10:02Michael Moore is put on
00:10:04and he stands on the wrong side.
00:10:05He's got a built-in defense.
00:10:07Give it to him.
00:10:07So solely because
00:10:08he's a southpaw, you say he's...
00:10:10Solely because.
00:10:10And it's hard to hit a southpaw.
00:10:12What about the chin?
00:10:14Listen, Evander Holyfield
00:10:15has proven often,
00:10:16more than once,
00:10:17that he's got a good chin.
00:10:18But I think he's going
00:10:19to the well once too many.
00:10:20I'll give it the chin
00:10:21to Michael Moore.
00:10:22So you believe
00:10:23that Evander Holyfield
00:10:24has taken too much punishment
00:10:26to have the edge
00:10:26in that category.
00:10:27Yeah, you can only go
00:10:28to the well so many times
00:10:29and sometimes
00:10:30there's no water there.
00:10:31Conditioning.
00:10:32Give it to Evander Holyfield.
00:10:34He's had to been
00:10:34and has always been
00:10:36the most conditioned
00:10:36fighter around.
00:10:37Intangibles.
00:10:38Hey, you can't touch him.
00:10:40He's got everything
00:10:41you ought to have,
00:10:41Evander Holyfield.
00:10:43Skillfully
00:10:44and diplomatically done, champ.
00:10:45If you wound up with three checks
00:10:47on each side of the ledger.
00:10:49So, that's the way
00:10:50George Foreman sees it
00:10:51as we get ready
00:10:52to bring them
00:10:53out of their dressing rooms.
00:10:54And here is a live shot
00:10:56of Michael Moore
00:10:57as Teddy Atlas
00:10:58fits the mouthpiece in
00:11:00and checks to be sure
00:11:01that it is
00:11:02the right mouthpiece.
00:11:03What are these final moments
00:11:05in the dressing room
00:11:05like, George?
00:11:06This is probably
00:11:07the most frightening moment
00:11:08that can happen
00:11:09to a heavyweight fighter.
00:11:10You get a chance
00:11:11to walk up
00:11:11and you're standing there
00:11:12and people are
00:11:13wanting you
00:11:14to be brave
00:11:14but now you've got
00:11:15to be carried
00:11:16by the wind
00:11:16into the rain.
00:11:17It's mysterious
00:11:18and it's bigger
00:11:19than you are.
00:11:22Michael Moore
00:11:23once trained
00:11:25by Emmanuel Stewart
00:11:26later trained
00:11:28briefly by
00:11:29Lou Duva
00:11:29and George Benton
00:11:31jettisoned them
00:11:33and moved
00:11:33to Teddy Atlas.
00:11:34There's some
00:11:35from him
00:11:42but if anybody
00:11:43can do it
00:11:44there are those
00:11:44particularly in New York
00:11:46boxing circles
00:11:46who say
00:11:47that Teddy Atlas
00:11:48is that man.
00:11:50We'll have more
00:11:51on him
00:11:52as we get ready
00:11:53for the bout
00:11:53when they reach the ring.
00:11:54Right now
00:11:55Michael Moore
00:11:55gets ready to enter.
00:12:01The path
00:12:02which has brought
00:12:03Michael Moore
00:12:04to his first
00:12:05heavyweight title challenge
00:12:06is quite similar
00:12:07to the path
00:12:08that once brought
00:12:09Evander Holyfield
00:12:10to the title.
00:12:12After a spectacular
00:12:13amateur career
00:12:13he began his
00:12:15professional career
00:12:16as a light heavyweight
00:12:17fought and won
00:12:18the WBO title
00:12:20in that 175 pound division.
00:12:23Then in a total
00:12:23of four months
00:12:24he put on
00:12:2538 pounds
00:12:26skipped the cruiserweight division
00:12:28became a heavyweight
00:12:30and since then
00:12:31has remained unbeaten
00:12:32and has progressed
00:12:33to this stage.
00:12:35He has been knocked down
00:12:37three times
00:12:38in his fights
00:12:38with heavyweights
00:12:39and so some people
00:12:40question whether
00:12:41he can take a punch
00:12:42from a big heavyweight.
00:12:44Of course he doesn't face
00:12:45a big heavyweight tonight.
00:12:47When you get knocked down
00:12:48it is a minus
00:12:49but when you get up
00:12:50and win
00:12:50as he has always done
00:12:52that's a bigger plus
00:12:54to me.
00:12:55Indeed George Foreman
00:12:56some say
00:12:57that the advantage
00:12:58for him
00:12:59of fighting
00:13:00a warrior
00:13:00like Holyfield
00:13:01is that it takes
00:13:02aggression
00:13:03from the other side
00:13:04to make
00:13:04Michael Moorer
00:13:05aggressive.
00:13:06That's right
00:13:07and the greatest advantage
00:13:08is that
00:13:08the Holyfield
00:13:10has trouble
00:13:10with guys
00:13:11his side.
00:13:11The only thing is going to be coming to the race this time is the challenger Michael Moorer.
00:13:33So Michael Moorer
00:13:58of Western Pennsylvania
00:14:01enters the ring for the first time
00:14:03as a heavyweight title challenger.
00:14:0534 wins
00:14:05no losses
00:14:0730 KOs
00:14:08all four route going performances
00:14:11were here in the heavyweight division.
00:14:13Indeed four of Moorer's last eight fights
00:14:16have gone the distance.
00:14:21There you see
00:14:22when you're back to us
00:14:23with Michael Buffer
00:14:24talking to him
00:14:25Teddy Atlas
00:14:26Michael Moorer's trainer
00:14:28Atlas is a disciple
00:14:30of Customato
00:14:30very tough guy
00:14:32and apparently
00:14:33he has got
00:14:34the attention
00:14:35of Michael Moorer
00:14:36but he can't fight
00:14:38the fight for him.
00:14:40And now
00:14:41Evander Holyfield
00:14:43prepares to enter the ring
00:14:44for the first defense
00:14:46of the title
00:14:47that he took back
00:14:48from Riddick Bowe
00:14:49this past November.
00:14:51Holyfield
00:14:51has already revealed
00:14:53this past week
00:14:54that he has a master plan
00:14:55in mind
00:14:56that it involves
00:14:57remaining as heavyweight champion
00:14:58until the Olympics
00:14:59Atlanta
00:14:59in 1996
00:15:01that he expects
00:15:02to have to fight
00:15:03Mike Tyson
00:15:04Lennox Lewis
00:15:05and Riddick Bowe
00:15:06if he's going to stay champion
00:15:08that long.

00:16:11One fact which has emerged with clarity this week here in
00:16:41Las Vegas and was apparent during that walk-in, this is a much more popular champion than
00:16:47he was prior to taking back the title from Riddick Bowe.
00:16:51He proved his heart in such a way as to finally win over a large percentage of the boxing
00:16:57public.
00:16:58There's the record, 30 wins, the one unanimous decision lost to Bowe in November of 1992,
00:17:05and then the victory over Bowe to take the title back, and there is his new trainer.
00:17:09George, this is the new trainer for the champion.
00:17:14Should he have danced with who brung him to this point, or is it a good idea for a veteran
00:17:19champion to get a new perspective from a trainer?
00:17:21It's always good to stay with the boat that brought you over.
00:17:24Evander Holyfield may have skipped around a bit too much this time, as I like to skip
00:17:29once, but hop, skip, and jump is dangerous.
00:17:33Sale of the tape, and for the very first time as a heavyweight champion, Evander Holyfield
00:17:38gets to defend the title against a man no bigger than himself.
00:17:42They both weighed in at 214 pounds.
00:17:45Lo and behold, Evander even has a one and a half inch reach advantage over Moura.
00:17:50Moura's weight indicates that Teddy Atlas has indeed won the Battle of Wills and the Battle
00:17:56of the Bulge in training, but there is no, no way of weighing Evander Holyfield's heart.
00:18:06No scale big enough.
00:18:07Punch stat numbers, Larry.
00:18:10There are punch stat numbers, an indication of how busy these fighters are, and the numbers
00:18:15are almost identical.
00:18:21Even in the jabs.
00:18:24But they don't fight by the numbers.
00:18:28Rules of the bout with our unofficial ringside scorer, Harold Lederman.
00:18:31Harold.
00:18:32Evander Holyfield and Michael Moura will box tonight using the rules of the World Boxing
00:18:36Association, because this time it's their turn.
00:18:3912 rounds.
00:18:40There is no standing A count.
00:18:42The three knockdown rule is in effect.
00:18:45You can be saved by the belt in the last round only.
00:18:48Only the referee can stop the fight, and in case a cut is caused by an accidental headbutt,
00:18:52and that cut causes the fight to be stopped, we go to the scorecards.
00:18:56If the three rounds have been completed, before that, it's a technical draw.
00:19:00Larry.
00:19:01As an indication of the respect for Moura's punching power, Holyfield's handlers try to
00:19:06get the commission to waive that three knockdown rule, which would have favored him, but they
00:19:13didn't.
00:19:14All right.
00:19:15Right now, let's go to ring it now to Michael Buffer for the pre-fight introductions.
00:19:18Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please.
00:19:22I would like everyone at this moment to please rise.
00:19:25Before we begin, I have some sad news to pass on to everybody.

00:19:44For the former President of the United States, Richard M. Nixon.

00:21:06All the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming,
00:21:17And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
00:21:28Came proof through the night that our flag was still there.
00:21:39Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
00:21:54O'er the land of the free,
00:22:02And the home of the brave.

00:26:00It's gonna be alright,
00:26:01Fair enough,
00:26:02If he goes right here,
00:26:03it's gonna be alright now,
00:26:03We have always been thru,
00:26:04The instructions one time,
00:26:06This is with the championship,
00:26:07Of the world,
00:26:08I expect to,
00:26:10Tough,
00:26:10Clean fight,
00:26:11For catch yourself,
00:26:12At all time,
00:26:13Any question from the challenger? Any question from the champion? Let's get it on!
00:26:20Will Michael Moore get it on? Will he seize the initiative?
00:26:26He's a natural counter-puncher by temperament and style.
00:26:30His trainer, Teddy Atlas, says he has to make it happen.
00:26:35Mills Lane instructs the timekeeper to pound the bell, and here we go.
00:26:45Round one begins. Holyfield jabbed, danced, and occasionally slugged his way to victory over Riddick Bowen this ring six months ago.
00:26:56Many believe if he tries to continue using slugging as a part of that mix here, it could turn out to be a mistake.
00:27:05Moore's first punch is a left to the body. Holyfield starts with the jab.
00:27:12Holyfield is starting to play the old softball game, touch and then jab.
00:27:19Just gotta lay that left jab out there and forget about missing it. Just bring it back quick.
00:27:25First combination for Holyfield, a simple left and right.
00:27:30Both fighters cautious so far. Holyfield no doubt curious about Moore's much vaunted punching power.
00:27:38That's right, but you don't want to be too curious to go out there and see about it.
00:27:42What he's got to do, and he's gonna do well, is hit and then hold.
00:27:46It's against the rules, but it's a good strategy for Holyfield.
00:27:49Well, there's the holding.
00:27:59You hold him because once you miss him, you don't know where he is exactly.
00:28:04It's been eight years since Evander's been in the ring with a southpaw.
00:28:22Neither fighter terribly active so far. George?
00:28:25Holyfield is real dry. Doesn't seem like he did a lot of warming up and he's kind of heavy.
00:28:30That time he didn't hold.
00:28:32Holyfield landed a short left.
00:28:33He held after landing a short left inside.
00:28:37Moore landed a straight right. Best exchange so far.
00:28:41Not much happening in the first two minutes of round one.
00:28:45The champion, Holyfield, seemingly only beginning to warm up.
00:28:50Now the combinations begin to flow.
00:28:53Punch out. Two hands are free in there. You got two hands free.
00:28:56I think the referee's gonna have to be quite understanding.
00:29:00When you fight a southpaw, you just can't hit and move out of the way.
00:29:04You gotta sometimes just touch them to know where they are.
00:29:07Get off that hand. Punch free.
00:29:15All right, get him up, Michael. Come on, get him up.
00:29:17Moore working to the body as Holyfield tries to come inside.
00:29:20Holyfield landing another short left hook.
00:29:23Those two short lefts have been the biggest punches of round one so far.
00:29:33Another four-punch combination by Vander.
00:29:36Moore misses in return. Now Moore lands the right hand.
00:29:39And Holyfield grabs and holds.
00:29:41Moore is trying to initiate the action, but he doesn't seem comfortable doing it.
00:29:46How do you feel, man?
00:29:51Listen.
00:29:52Relax, relax.
00:29:53Relax, slow.
00:29:54Nice, easy, breathing.
00:29:56Give him that Vaseline.
00:30:02You're moving. You're jumping too much.
00:30:04Okay.
00:30:05Half steps.
00:30:06Half steps, man.
00:30:08You see everything, don't you?
00:30:10Yeah.
00:30:15You're not doing nothing to strike this in doubt or off to the side.
00:30:18Snap that jab.
00:30:19Do not start looking for one punch.
00:30:22Now, I don't want you throwing the left hand to the body from too far away.
00:30:25You're reaching in.
00:30:26You're going to start countering you.
00:30:27He's an experienced guy.
00:30:28Switch up.
00:30:29Fake it to the body.
00:30:30Throw it to the head.
00:30:31Switch on a guy like this.
00:30:32Here, look for it.
00:30:33Keep snapping at you.
00:30:34Let's go to work, man.
00:30:35Let's go to work.
00:30:36Let's go to work.
00:30:37George, what does Holyfield's trainer mean by telling him just take half steps?
00:30:42Well, he shouldn't move too quick.
00:30:44Just a little movement to your left.
00:30:47Just a little movement.
00:30:48A half step.
00:30:49Then there's a step and a half.
00:30:53Does this have to do with fighting in southpaw, George?
00:30:55Yeah, you don't want to lose the guy at any time.
00:30:57You've got to see him and keep your eye on him.
00:31:00So a half step keeps him right in your sight.
00:31:03A full step, you lose him and he catches you for it.
00:31:12Moore beginning to stick the right jab.
00:31:18Holyfield for the moment unable to block Moore's jab.
00:31:23I think Holyfield is making a mistake by not jabbing.
00:31:26He's holding it back to get a good jab.
00:31:28Just let it go out there.
00:31:29You'll be surprised.
00:31:30He's just as easy to hit as a right-hander.
00:31:32But that tentativeness, as you point out, George,
00:31:35directly related to the different look that a southpaw gives him.
00:31:38Yeah.
00:31:39And when they trade punches in close,
00:31:43Moore will square his left foot up.
00:31:45And in effect at that point, he's not right-hand or left-hander.
00:31:49The old saying is, just do it.
00:31:52Right hand over the top seemed to wobbly Vandr for a moment.
00:31:59May be playing Possum, trying to invite Moore in.
00:32:02Holyfield loves to taste your power.
00:32:07Oh, oh, one step back. Come on, come on.
00:32:10One step back clean, come on.
00:32:11Come on, clean.
00:32:12Here we go, come on.
00:32:13Fudding body punch from Moore.
00:32:14His power driving Holyfield back now as round two progresses.
00:32:16George, you say Vandr loves to taste your power.
00:32:21What kind of a fighter does that? Crazy one?
00:32:23if you can believe it to prove, hey, I can take it now I'm gonna get you back.
00:32:28He figures if you hit him with five shots,
00:32:29you're gonna be tired. He's coming after you.
00:32:32Just can't work all the time.
00:32:33Moore doesn't have aarm.
00:32:34Oh, I just...
00:32:35OK, you're gonna lie.
00:32:36How you can believe it to prove,
00:32:39here was the second time.
00:32:40He figured if you hit him with five shots,
00:32:42you're gonna be tired.
00:32:43He's coming after you.
00:32:45Just can't work all the time.
00:32:48Okay.
00:32:50One, one, two, one.
00:32:52Moore doesn't hesitate to throw his jab.
00:32:57You say that when you fought him, Evander was simply too elusive for you to ever get that third shot in on him.
00:33:03There's a solid right hand by Moore, and Holyfield wobbles back a bit.
00:33:08No answer from Holyfield as Moore steps in and pounds away.
00:33:16Short punches inside, doing damage for Moore.
00:33:19Moore, already his punching power, a factor in the belt.
00:33:22Holyfield knocks him down.
00:33:25One, two, three, four, five, six, eight, seven, eight.
00:33:33That is so Holyfield.
00:33:35George, you called that right on the money.
00:33:37Tasted the power and brought it back to Moore.
00:33:41And he did something real smart.
00:33:43He did the old 12-over.
00:33:49You got yourself right back together.
00:34:04The only thing he did was you posed after you punched.
00:34:07The beginning was you.
00:34:08It was all you around, and then you stepped back straight.
00:34:11And you took your eye contact off him.
00:34:13Keep your concentration up.
00:34:15You hear me?
00:34:15You step straight back after you punch.
00:34:19Here you watch as that round unfolds.
00:34:21Some guys you can shoot bullets at.
00:34:23You can hit them with two-by-fours.
00:34:25You can throw them off a cliff.
00:34:26You can drop them in acid.
00:34:28And they keep coming back just like that.
00:34:31That is what Amanda Holyfield does.
00:34:37He feels that if you hit him with a good shot and you're still there, the guy is saying to himself, what do I got to do to hurt this man?
00:34:46All right, he knocked Moore down with what you called the old crossover, George.
00:34:51Yeah, when you square up against the southpaw and you put both hands up in the crossover position, he is off balance, too, because you're not giving him that disadvantage of being left foot first.
00:35:02Then you can get him.
00:35:03So that opened up the short right hand for Evander Holyfield, which was the dominant punch in an active round, too.
00:35:11Holyfield should give that look to him all night.
00:35:13Southpaws cannot function in the crossover defense.
00:35:16Lest you give up on Michael Moore because of that second-round knockdown, remember that he was down against Burt Cooper, hurt badly against Alex Stewart, came back to win both of those fights by knockouts.
00:35:33This man loves a wolf.
00:35:34That's the head, both of you, left the head.
00:35:47Thank you, our two hands are free, come on.
00:35:49We've got two hands free in there, come on.
00:35:59Moore's jab continues to bother Holyfield.
00:36:02Holyfield seems to me he's found the pocket now.
00:36:07He's not worried too much about Mo's power.
00:36:09He knows where the punches are coming.
00:36:11He's going to lay in there and have some fun now.
00:36:18Good idea because he knows what he's doing or a bad idea because it will expose him to punishment?
00:36:23It's a great idea.
00:36:24He's experienced enough.
00:36:25He's tasted more powerful punches from bigger guys.
00:36:28Lay in that pocket and be the most experienced fighter.
00:36:32All right, we're sitting back both of them.
00:36:42Come here, come on.
00:36:47Left hook lead for Holyfield.
00:36:50Hand off that neck, Abander.
00:36:51Come on.
00:36:52Hand off that neck in there.
00:36:53Punch out.
00:36:54Hasn't yet gone to the straight right hand lead that so many fighters choose to employ against softballs.
00:37:01Holyfield has seen that anytime you want to rest, you give him the old crossover.
00:37:05Get in front of him.
00:37:06He can't do anything about it.
00:37:07He's hurt.
00:37:08Hit him.
00:37:09He's hurt.
00:37:12Come on, come on.
00:37:13Come on.
00:37:14Come on.
00:37:14Come on.
00:37:14Come on.
00:37:15Come on.
00:37:15Come on.
00:37:16Come on.
00:37:17That elbow down.
00:37:21There's the straight right hand.
00:37:23And it set up a left hook and another right for Holyfield.
00:37:26And another straight right.
00:37:27And another.
00:37:29I want to step back.
00:37:30Hit him.
00:37:30Come on.
00:37:31I want to step back.
00:37:32Come on.
00:37:32I want to step back.
00:37:32Let's go.
00:37:37And just like that, Evander learns that the oldest weapon in the book against the Southpaw will work for him here.
00:37:44Breathe deep, baby.
00:37:54Breathe deep.
00:37:55Vaseline.
00:37:57Oh, I got it.
00:37:59Both sides.
00:38:00How you feeling?
00:38:01Listen.
00:38:03Breathe deep.
00:38:04You're doing a real good job.
00:38:06You're doing a real good job.
00:38:08When you get in front of him in the danger zone, you got to take off.
00:38:11Don't let it beat you to the punching.
00:38:13And don't back straight up.
00:38:15One beat.
00:38:16Easy breath.
00:38:17Let it beat real easy.
00:38:18There you go.
00:38:19Let your mind.
00:38:19Hold him.
00:38:21And let him swallow.
00:38:22I want you to use that jab and I want you to work off it.
00:38:24I don't want you to be satisfied with it.
00:38:26You hear me?
00:38:27You go in there and you start backing this guy up and you start doing what we trained to do.
00:38:31Otherwise, don't come back to this fucking corner.
00:38:34Do you hear me?
00:38:35Let's go.
00:38:35Let's go.
00:38:36Everyone needs some sides.
00:38:37Come on.
00:38:41Keep going.
00:38:41This is the first heavyweight championship fight for trainer Teddy Atlas, too.
00:38:47But he knows that it can get away from him.
00:38:49And he's trying to get his fighter's attention not to let him get low into losing more rounds.
00:38:56Muro's manager, John Dabamos, says of his fighter, he doesn't have to like Teddy Atlas.
00:39:03He just has to listen to him.
00:39:05And so far, he does.
00:39:06If Holyfield is going to stay over there, he's better stop using the orthodox left hand stands to block punches.
00:39:32He can catch it.
00:39:33Moorer landing the jab seemingly at will, able to just simply throw it past Holyfield's left hand.
00:39:44Evander still doing pretty well when he gets in close and trades punches.
00:39:54That's what a lot of the experts think is too dangerous for him.
00:39:58Well, Evander had this guy going, and he decided to take a break and have some fun.
00:40:02And now it's going to be hard to pick up that same energy again unless he gets hurt.
00:40:08If you hurt a guy, you've got to go for it.
00:40:10Come on, punch you out.
00:40:11The right cross drew whooves and dies from the crowd, but glanced off the gloves of Michael Moorer.
00:40:17Get him up, Michael, come on, get out of there, come on.
00:40:26Come on, come on.
00:40:27Come on, punch you out.
00:40:30Mills Lane cautioning Moorer to keep his punches up.
00:40:36Good straight left to the body by Michael Moore.
00:40:38Come on, punch you out.
00:40:39Holyfield, not nearly as active as he was against Bowe last November.
00:40:47Not nearly so much the boxer tonight as he was in that bout.
00:40:53Well, he's found himself in a weird position of being the aggressor and the more powerful guy tonight.
00:40:59And he just doesn't know how to get in to operate and function in that position.
00:41:04Straight right lands again.
00:41:06Each man now with a seemingly unstoppable weapon.
00:41:11Moorer's jab with the right hand.
00:41:13Holyfield straight right.
00:41:15Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho.
00:41:16Into and across the south cross.
00:41:17What's the next?
00:41:18Come on, let's go.
00:41:24You've got to have that right hand lead when you're playing with southpaws.
00:41:28Keep that right hand in their face, making them back away and think twice.
00:41:32Holyfield has got to do that.
00:41:36Moorer lands a left inside, follows up with a right and then a left to the body.
00:41:40Holyfield has enough and backs away.
00:41:42Come on, come on, come on.
00:41:47I thought that was a very tough round for Evander Holyfield.
00:41:53Listen, man.
00:41:54How did you see it, Harold?
00:41:55Larry, I've got it three rounds to one.
00:41:5839-36, Evander Holyfield.
00:42:00I agree with you on that fourth round.
00:42:02I thought Michael Moorer definitely won the fourth round.
00:42:04Landed some good punches.
00:42:06Now he's starting to come alive.
00:42:07But the first three rounds, I just don't think he did enough.
00:42:10Now, I scored round two, 10 to eight.
00:42:11Some people would argue because certainly Moorer was winning it early.
00:42:14But Evander Holyfield did score that clean knockdown.
00:42:17I gave him a 10-8 round in a second.
00:42:19I got Evander up by three.
00:42:20We're in sync.
00:42:21Up to the head.
00:42:22In four.
00:42:23Huh?
00:42:24You want your, yeah, to be heavyweight champ.
00:42:26Start doing it.
00:42:27Keep jabbing, hitting him with the jab.
00:42:29Don't let him back you up.
00:42:30Stay off those ropes.
00:42:31And when he's resting his tight, strike back and hit him with combination.
00:42:34All right?
00:42:35Give him the mouthpiece.
00:42:36Give him the mouthpiece, Mo.
00:42:39Get strong.
00:42:40Get strong.
00:42:41Get strong.
00:42:53Devastating left hand by Moorer.
00:42:55What does he follow up with?
00:42:57He goes to the body.
00:42:58Holyfield trying to cover.
00:43:02Now Evander's all right.
00:43:05Holyfield is in with a guy who's fought light heavyweight like him.
00:43:08Their hands are a lot quicker than natural heavyweights.
00:43:11You just can't stand in front of them holding your hands up.
00:43:13They'll get right between that defense.
00:43:15Evander trying to answer Moorer's jab with his own.
00:43:21Now he goes back to the straight right.
00:43:22Hey, time, time, time, time.
00:43:24Okay, now come on.
00:43:25It's the first one.
00:43:26Come on.
00:43:28Holyfield is tired.
00:43:29Holyfield is tired now.
00:43:39He's no longer snapping a jab.
00:43:40He's throwing them in, leaping in.
00:43:43It's like he's lost control of his body.
00:43:44I agree with you, George.
00:43:47I sense that there's some fatigue there.
00:43:52Maybe it's an illusion.
00:43:53We'll see.
00:43:55He eats two more right hands from Michael Moorer right there.
00:43:57This has been a big round for Moorer so far.
00:44:00Holyfield is having to fight these four or five rounds in the wrong position.
00:44:04And sometimes it doesn't matter what shape you're in.
00:44:06When you're doing something in the wrong way, it burns you out.
00:44:11That straight left by Michael Moorer to the stomach really hurt Evander Holyfield.
00:44:17Evander has spent weeks telling the world that he didn't think Moorer's southpaw stance
00:44:23or the simple fact that he was left-handed would bother him.
00:44:26Yesterday, when we began to discuss with him his good friend, Brunel Whitaker,
00:44:29and all the qualities that make Whitaker the best fighter in the world,
00:44:32the first thing Evander said was, well, he's left-handed.
00:44:35Now Holyfield in trouble again as the result of Moorer's power punching.
00:44:42A left hook by Moorer started that sequence,
00:44:45drove Holyfield against the ropes.
00:44:50If only Holyfield wasn't tired.
00:44:55This round is becoming target practice for Moorer,
00:44:58but there's the left hook, the answer from Holyfield.
00:45:01There's a bad cut on Holyfield's left eye.
00:45:05He came out of a clinch.
00:45:09I don't know if it was a fight, but there is a cut,
00:45:12and this calls into question the fact that he doesn't have a real cut man in his corner.
00:45:18He fired cut man, Ace Morata, let him go because his new trainer, Don Turner, said,
00:45:28cut men are unnecessary.
00:45:30I can do that.
00:45:31Well, we're going to find out if Don Turner is able to do it.
00:45:36Evander showing his warrior's heart, fighting back now.
00:45:40He recognizes that the eye is cut.
00:45:42You saw him paw at it with his bluff.
00:45:54I got it. Don't worry, though.
00:45:56I got it. I got it.
00:45:57The cut looks like it's just above the corner of the eye, below the brow.
00:46:13The Lord's with you, man.
00:46:16The Lord's with you.
00:46:17The Lord's with you.
00:46:20Was it a headbutt?
00:46:22There you see it.
00:46:26Take a deep breath.
00:46:27And according to Mills Lane, it was a punch, not a headbutt.
00:46:37Come on, Teddy. Come on.
00:46:39Has Holyfield suddenly become an old champion, George?
00:46:44And suddenly in that round, Michael Moore doubled Holyfield's punch output.
00:46:49He threw 74 punches in round number five, recognizing and seizing opportunity.
00:46:54So now, with Ace Murata watching somewhere near the ring,
00:46:59but no longer working for Holyfield as his cut man,
00:47:02Evander goes back to work, having bled above the left eye.
00:47:11If Evander chooses to, he can stay close like that for a few rounds.
00:47:15Get his wing together.
00:47:16Nobody's going to blame him.
00:47:18They know he's getting bummed by some heavy punches.
00:47:20Stay close and don't catch it.
00:47:22But when you get far away like that, you can get caught with those straight left hands.
00:47:27George Evander's trainer, Don Turner, said,
00:47:30We don't need a cut man.
00:47:31Anybody who can't stop a cut from bleeding shouldn't be a trainer.
00:47:33What do you think of that?
00:47:35No.
00:47:36Some trainers have got to dedicate themselves to operating that fight.
00:47:39Let another man concentrate on those cuts.
00:47:41You know, as I said several years ago in Tokyo,
00:47:47when Mike Tyson had amateurs in his corner who couldn't deal with a bad eye,
00:47:53you don't look for a person off the streets to put on the back of Secretariat.
00:47:58You get the best people in the world in your corner just in case something like this happens.
00:48:05When you're fighting for that kind of money, who cares what you pay them?
00:48:09Get them in there.
00:48:10Well, step back.
00:48:10Get off that neck, Evander.
00:48:11Come on.
00:48:12You're in the neck too much.
00:48:12Come on.
00:48:14Meanwhile, Moore hasn't been able to be as active in round six as he was in round five
00:48:19because Holyfield has given us more footwork, has begun to hold whenever possible,
00:48:24and is working to slow the action down and give his eye a chance to stop bleeding.
00:48:30That eye has given him a lot of trouble.
00:48:32Moore is jabbing in it, tricking him like he's going to hit him back in it
00:48:36and then going to the body.
00:48:37Step back.
00:48:37Here we go.
00:48:38He's taking advice from his corner.
00:48:40Straight right hand from Holyfield.
00:48:44The last three rounds, it's been one of his best weapons.
00:48:48Moore going to the body.
00:48:49And then reaching over the top, but missing.
00:48:55Jab lands well for Moore.
00:48:57He should stick with it, George.
00:48:59I think so, but at the same time, if he get into a jabbing battle with Evander Holyfield,
00:49:03this fight could go for another five rounds.
00:49:06Evander can do some awful dirty things to Moore.
00:49:11Well, that's why you heard trainer Teddy Atlas saying,
00:49:14be happy with your jab, but don't be satisfied with it.
00:49:17Work off of it.
00:49:17Give me some other stuff, too.
00:49:19Evander's got this small waist that is tailor-made for body punching.
00:49:23The guy starts landing those shots.
00:49:25It'll make it hurt.
00:49:26For the moment, Evander is simply running, trying to stay out of trouble.
00:49:30I have never seen Holyfield in this posture, at least only in the first bow fight when he was really damaged.
00:49:38We haven't seen any really big punches.
00:49:41He just seems to be empty here.
00:49:44At least for the moment.
00:49:45I wonder what he thinks of the $25,000 he didn't want to pay Ace Murata right now.
00:49:51How do you feel, man?
00:49:56How do you feel, man?
00:49:56Listen.
00:49:57You're going back.
00:50:01Put some...
00:50:02Give me some water.
00:50:03Give me some water.
00:50:03Rub my shoulder.
00:50:04My left shoulder.
00:50:05Rub his left shoulder.
00:50:06Rub his left shoulder.
00:50:07Oh, left shoulder.
00:50:08Left shoulder.
00:50:09Give me a rag.
00:50:10You feel, man?
00:50:11Yes, sir.
00:50:12You've got to start checkmarking the combination in front of you, man.
00:50:18Hold on, hold on.
00:50:19How much time, Tim?
00:50:2030 seconds.
00:50:21Huh?
00:50:2230 seconds.
00:50:2325.
00:50:24Give him some water, Tim.
00:50:27Okay, let me put this on there.
00:50:30Tim.
00:50:31I got this control.
00:50:32I got this control.
00:50:33You understand?
00:50:34The Lord's with you, Holy.
00:50:35The Lord's with you.
00:50:36Use your mind.
00:50:37Go ahead.
00:50:38Go ahead.
00:50:39Go ahead.
00:50:40Use your mind.
00:50:41Evander Holyfield said something about his left shoulder.
00:50:45I don't know what he meant.
00:50:47I don't know if he's hurt his left shoulder.
00:50:53Sometimes when you lift those weights bench pressing,
00:50:56you're always hurting something.
00:50:58But he doesn't seem to be firing with anything, left or right.
00:51:06There's the left hook.
00:51:07Straight right hand before it.
00:51:09Another right hand afterward.
00:51:10Moore goes back to the body.
00:51:12Evander Holyfield threw only 22 punches in round number six.
00:51:16The round during which he spent most of the time running away.
00:51:19Now here he comes again.
00:51:25Suddenly the champion returns with initiative and vengeance.
00:51:30Moore comes back.
00:51:31Moore comes right back with hit by the punches.
00:51:33Those punches are hurting Evander Holyfield.
00:51:37Left hand over the top by Moore.
00:51:39Proud supporting Holyfield as never before.
00:51:51They chanted holy, holy, holy about 40 seconds ago.
00:51:55And he delivered with that flurry of punches.
00:51:57Now the jab lands.
00:51:58Holyfield hands down at his side.
00:51:59Inviting Moore in.
00:52:00And Michael is too smart to fall for it.
00:52:04So far the bloody eye has not bothered him in this round.
00:52:15Maybe he was just taking a round off.
00:52:17The corner has done a good job with stopping the bleeding.
00:52:29Little blood coming from the mouth of Moore.
00:52:32Evander has not been able to get that perfect left hook he throws to the body yet.
00:52:37That could be a telling point if this fight goes beyond ten rounds.
00:52:43Crushing jab from Moore.
00:52:45He continues to be able to land that right jab almost at will.
00:52:48So much has happened.
00:52:50Hard to believe that we're already past the midpoint in round seven of this 12 round heavyweight championship fight.
00:52:59Holyfield coming up and under with the uppercut.
00:53:01You see any reason to believe, George, that that left shoulder is bothering him?
00:53:04Yeah, it is.
00:53:05He's not snapping that left jab.
00:53:07He was just trading off a good left jab.
00:53:13He's wanting more than any time in his life to get a knockout.
00:53:16And this is not Evander Holyfield.
00:53:18A knockout creates itself.
00:53:25One of Moore's bad habits is to stand against the ropes and take punishment.
00:53:30Burt Cooper knocked him down while he was in one of those periods.
00:53:33Alex Stewart hurt him.
00:53:36But in both instances he came back and won by KO.
00:53:39Holyfield is trying to be a power puncher now.
00:53:41He's loading up with every left hook.
00:53:43But give Evander credit, he came back in that round.
00:53:49I mean...
00:53:50Carol Letterman, seven rounds.
00:53:59How do you have it now?
00:54:00Larry, I think the last four rounds, Michael Moore is mugging him.
00:54:04I got it four rounds to three.
00:54:0666-66 on points.
00:54:08But in rounds, I got Michael Moore winning a fight.
00:54:11Evander Holyfield to me looks battered, bloody, and I think Michael Moore is taking it to him.
00:54:18Landed in a clear and hard of shots.
00:54:19I think he's winning a fight.
00:54:20I thought that Holyfield stole that last round and I have him ahead four rounds to three.
00:54:27I tend to agree.
00:54:30Cut up and do nothing in front.
00:54:33Punch if he jumps in.
00:54:34Don't lay in front.
00:54:35Work off the jab and fight a full round.
00:54:38Michael, do not come back if you don't win this thing.
00:54:41Peace, guys.
00:54:42Now peace.
00:54:43I got it.
00:54:45Through seven rounds, Michael Moore dominant in the jab category, landing 57% of the jabs that he throws.
00:54:57If Holyfield's left shoulder is indeed in pain, we may see less and less of the jab from him.
00:55:04Holyfield's big weapons would appear to be the straight right and the left hook inside.
00:55:09All right, one step back.
00:55:19Both of them, watch the heads.
00:55:20Both of them, watch the heads.
00:55:21Come on.
00:55:22At this point, Holyfield should just set his defense.
00:55:24Stop moving his hands around.
00:55:26Keep him in one position.
00:55:27Moore is not mixing the punches up all around his head.
00:55:30He's in one place.
00:55:31Come on.
00:55:32Come on.
00:55:33Come on.
00:55:34Come on.
00:55:35Come on.
00:55:36Come on.
00:55:37Come on.
00:55:43Come on.
00:55:53dick lions
00:55:56Fascinating that Moore isn't going all out to try to make his much-vaunted punching power
00:56:00the difference in the bout.
00:56:01He seems content for the moment
00:56:03to try to box his way to the heavyweight crown.
00:56:04Holyfield, landscaping the same gun.
00:56:05Holyfield landed at one straight right
00:56:08Now misses a lunging effort
00:56:10Moore not nearly as busy in this round
00:56:13As was the case in the four preceding rounds
00:56:16Now that left hook that Holyfield is known for
00:56:26Is starting to get in
00:56:27If he's landing two or three left hooks around
00:56:30He can pull this fight out easily
00:56:31I think that's his bread and butter, George
00:56:35It's to that body, it hurts
00:56:37How do I know?
00:56:40Oh, you should know
00:56:41You're the man he hit 19 consecutive shots at one point
00:56:45All right, great, great
00:56:46Enough of that, right?
00:56:56Tactical round
00:56:57Holyfield getting inside and landing some
00:57:01Moore occasionally sniping over the top with the jab
00:57:04Now Holyfield is jabbing to the body a bit
00:57:12Pulls back the left
00:57:16Just pawing with the jab
00:57:19But lands the straight right again
00:57:20Which is what you've got to do
00:57:22Straight lead right hand
00:57:24And hold afterwards
00:57:26Now Moore attacking again
00:57:30Moore is not willing to throw a lot of punches
00:57:35He's pacing himself
00:57:37Trying to finish with a flurry in a round eight
00:57:41Which in a close fight
00:57:43May have been a pretty tough round to score
00:57:45That was a tough round to score
00:57:48The question in my mind now is
00:57:50Can Moore win a championship this way?
00:57:52Does he have to show some passion and make something happen?
00:57:56Or can he just go along trying to win each round?
00:57:59Do you want me to change places with you?
00:58:00Do you?
00:58:02Listen, this guy is finished
00:58:04It comes a time in a man's life
00:58:07But he makes a decision
00:58:09He makes a decision
00:58:10To just live
00:58:12Survive
00:58:13Or he wants to win
00:58:14You're doing just enough to keep him off here
00:58:17And hope he leaves you alone
00:58:18You're lying to yourself
00:58:19Because you're going to cry tomorrow
00:58:21You're lying to yourself
00:58:22And I'd lie to you if I'd let you get away with that
00:58:24You're going to cry tomorrow because of that
00:58:26Do you want to cry tomorrow?
00:58:28Huh?
00:58:29Then don't lie to yourself anymore
00:58:31There's something wrong with this guy
00:58:32Back him up and fight a full round
00:58:34And after the right hook
00:58:35Throw the left uppercut
00:58:36Inside throw uppercut after someone's time
00:58:39Let's go
00:58:39You heard it
00:58:43And that's as good as anybody can say it
00:58:46I don't know how long that marriage can last
00:58:48But it's an interesting one
00:58:50Only if Michael Moura wins the championship
00:58:54Denny Atlas addressing exactly your question, Larry
00:59:00Where's the passion?
00:59:04Alright, one step back
00:59:05Go ahead on the break
00:59:07One step back clean
00:59:07When a fight is uncertain
00:59:09And he's trying to pace himself
00:59:10It's hard to get him jump started
00:59:12To get out there and mix it up
00:59:13George
00:59:15He's fighting for the heavyweight championship of the world
00:59:18If this doesn't get him jump started
00:59:20What can?
00:59:22That's a great question
00:59:23Alright, one step back
00:59:24But when we asked him yesterday
00:59:26Did it burn in his heart?
00:59:28Did he need this more than anything else in life?
00:59:30He would not answer in the affirmative
00:59:32Crowd chanting
00:59:34Holy, holy, holy
00:59:36Trying to lift Evander up
00:59:38A little hit but an apology
00:59:43Straight right still landing for Holyfield
00:59:47Now the left hook to the body
00:59:48And Moura flaps the right arm down
00:59:51Evander comes back with straight rights
00:59:53Excellent assault by the champion
00:59:55That left hook to the bread basket
00:59:57It changes a lot of things
00:59:59Here we go, come on, come on
01:00:00Evander keeps hooking the left
01:00:05To Michael Moura's ribcage
01:00:07You won't see Moura throwing the jab a lot
01:00:09That's true
01:00:09And if only Holyfield can just lead right hand
01:00:12And left hook finish
01:00:13Things can change drastically for him
01:00:16But it has to happen with that straight right hand
01:00:20Lead right hand first
01:00:21Alright, let him go
01:00:23Let him go
01:00:23Off the neck
01:00:24Here we go, come on
01:00:25A resolute Evander Holyfield
01:00:47Coming back with straight rights and left hooks
01:00:49He's abandoned
01:00:54The boxing style that beat Bo for the moment
01:00:57Trying to retain his championship
01:00:59With sheer force of will
01:01:01And that's some force
01:01:04Moura's gonna get another scorching
01:01:20From Teddy Atlas, I think
01:01:21Teddy Atlas is not tasting those punches here and there
01:01:27That's right
01:01:31It's always easy
01:01:32For those of us outside the ring
01:01:34To question Holyfield's credentials
01:01:36As a heavyweight champion
01:01:37I guess you gotta fight him to know
01:01:39You gotta fight to know
01:01:40That once you hit this guy with your best punch
01:01:42He's standing there
01:01:44You better wait a minute
01:01:44Get it together
01:01:45Michael, why the hell do you wait to the end of the round?
01:01:52Because you hear that
01:01:53You know it's only ten seconds left?
01:01:56Michael, you got three rounds left
01:01:58You got twelve minutes left
01:02:00You're blowing it
01:02:01You're blowing it
01:02:03I'm telling you
01:02:04You're blowing it
01:02:05And you know what?
01:02:06You're gonna cry afterwards
01:02:07You're gonna cry afterwards
01:02:09Because it's all there for you
01:02:11He's gonna lose his next fight
01:02:12Instead of this fight
01:02:13You all right?
01:02:17Yeah, he's right there
01:02:19He's checking it all the time
01:02:20You know the Lord's with you
01:02:23You know the Lord's with you
01:02:26Use that defense
01:02:27Use that defense
01:02:29Use it the rest of your life
01:02:31The rest of your life
01:02:32Now go out there for nine minutes
01:02:34And take it to him and win the fight
01:02:36Give him the mouthpiece, Mo
01:02:37Mo, mouthpiece
01:02:39Mo, mouthpiece
01:02:40Come on
01:02:41Come on, Mo
01:02:42Take away
01:02:43Evander Holyfield looks to me
01:02:49About 75 or 80% of himself
01:02:51Give Michael Moore credit for some of that
01:02:55I don't know if you can give him credit for all of it
01:02:57Evander Holyfield corner
01:03:00Is telling him things that he want to hear
01:03:03I'm not cussing him through it
01:03:04This is a very moralistic man
01:03:06He's telling him the Lord is with you
01:03:08These things Holyfield depends on
01:03:10So I think he may have had the best trainer
01:03:12That he could get in this fight
01:03:13It's not what you say
01:03:15It's how you say what you say
01:03:17In other words, they're speaking the language
01:03:20That rings in Evander's heart
01:03:21That's right
01:03:22And if you can pull that out of a man
01:03:23That's greater than telling him
01:03:24To land the left jab and the left hook
01:03:26And let's give credit where credit is due
01:03:28To this point
01:03:30The cut has not decided the fight
01:03:32Hasn't even come close to it
01:03:33Don Turner has been true to his word
01:03:35That he could fix that bleeding
01:03:37Moore's heavy hands beginning to show up
01:03:44Holyfield hanging on again
01:03:47Come on, come on
01:03:48Teddy Atlas
01:03:59Screaming at Moore
01:04:01You're blowing it
01:04:02You're blowing it
01:04:03The very words
01:04:04That Angelo Dundee used with Sugar Ray Leonard
01:04:07In the closing stages
01:04:08Of his dramatic comeback win over Thomas Hearns
01:04:11They jump-started Ray Leonard on that night
01:04:17Thirteen years ago
01:04:20They're not yet doing the same for Moore
01:04:23Holyfield is starting to get a second
01:04:26And a strange win here
01:04:27A guy that was out of it
01:04:29Is suddenly alive
01:04:31Get off that head
01:04:33Get off that neck
01:04:34Come on, push out
01:04:35Straight right
01:04:47Landed again for Evander
01:04:48Left hook to the body
01:04:56Left hook to the head
01:04:57Textbook Holyfield
01:04:59Moore against the ropes
01:05:01Where he so often gets in trouble
01:05:03Jab disappearing for Moore
01:05:07Holyfield is trying to lure Moore into throwing three of those right jabs
01:05:19And he's going to count him with that straight right
01:05:20But you can get hurt doing that with a southpaw
01:05:23Moore trying to box his way to the heavyweight championship
01:05:29And it's just not the right script for him
01:05:31Where's the fire?
01:05:34Where's the passion?
01:05:35Where's the desperate need to win the title?
01:05:39Hard to see it here
01:05:40Holyfield was like a good
01:05:44On the table waiting
01:05:46Up to now, I think we can fairly say
01:05:49Holyfield was ready to lose the title
01:05:53Easy breathing
01:05:54Moore isn't ready to win it
01:05:56With two more rounds to go
01:05:58Easy breathing
01:06:00Easy breathing
01:06:02Little water
01:06:06Little water
01:06:08Give me that right there
01:06:11Give me that
01:06:12Want some more water?
01:06:13How much time?
01:06:14How much time?
01:06:14Letterman, ten rounds
01:06:15Your verdict so far
01:06:17Larry, controversy written all over the fight
01:06:19But I got it
01:06:2096, 93
01:06:22Six rounds to four
01:06:23Evander Holafield
01:06:24I think it's going to be close
01:06:26Controversial at the end
01:06:27No question
01:06:28I think either guy can win it
01:06:29But I think that knockdown is going to be
01:06:31A very, very big part of the fight
01:06:33Now for the first round, Holafield is bouncing
01:06:37Now for the first round, Holafield is bouncing
01:06:51Holyfield is coming out in this round like he's the one behind
01:07:00And he's going to take away any possibility of aggression by Moore by being the aggressor himself
01:07:08Spent the first 20 seconds of the round backing Michael Moore up
01:07:12All right, one step back, Evander
01:07:35One step back
01:07:35Come on, come on
01:07:36Here we go
01:07:36Michael
01:07:37Trading punches
01:08:01Holyfield having established now
01:08:05That he can take any one shot at a time from Moore
01:08:08Betty Atlas trying to get his fighter to throw three and four and five at a time
01:08:13Moore a little more active now
01:08:16But Holyfield matching him punch for punch
01:08:18Moore is real protective of that right jab now
01:08:27He doesn't want to get hit with that hook underneath
01:08:29Moore
01:08:29He jabs and bring it back home quick
01:08:37Uppercut through the guard by Holyfield
01:08:42Left hook to the body
01:08:43Left hook straight right
01:08:45He eats a jab from Moore
01:08:47But Moore doesn't step in to follow it
01:08:49Get off that neck
01:08:49Get off that neck, come on
01:08:51You land the jab that flush, George
01:08:55You ought to at least throw the left hand
01:08:56Yeah, he is really trying to be extra protective of himself
01:09:00It seems that he wants to go 12 rounds
01:09:02They came expecting a war
01:09:11And a boxing match broke out
01:09:14Solid straight right hands by Holyfield
01:09:26Two in a row
01:09:27Michael Moore fighting in the 11th round for the first time in his life
01:09:33Has produced an effort a little bit more spirited
01:09:36Than in the three rounds that preceded it
01:09:38But Holyfield has stepped his level up as well
01:09:42Pipe down, wipe him down
01:10:01I want to tell you one thing
01:10:02Michael, in your mind you're doing your best
01:10:05Have I ever lied to you?
01:10:06Michael, you're not doing your best
01:10:09You're going to cry afterwards
01:10:10You're never going to have an opportunity again like this
01:10:13You're throwing jams and you're satisfied
01:10:15You're satisfied just to do enough
01:10:17To keep him off you
01:10:19You can't do that now
01:10:20In this world we can't do that all the time
01:10:22Fight it, Mike
01:10:23Not you, Holy
01:10:24The Lord's going to get you through it
01:10:26You've got to get out
01:10:26Then you've got to get after it
01:10:27It's time to go to war
01:10:28You can do it, Holyfield
01:10:30You can do it
01:10:31Jesus loves you
01:10:32Because he's leaning forward
01:10:33Don't let him rest
01:10:34Fight the whole mountain
01:10:35What does Moore have to do to win?
01:10:48Alright, here we go
01:10:48I got it 6 to 5
01:10:50105, 103
01:10:52Avanda, Holyfield
01:10:53Avanda by 2 points
01:10:54That's my scorecard as well
01:10:57Alright
01:10:58So we're in sync
01:11:00Both scorers here
01:11:01105, 103
01:11:02Going to the 12
01:11:03Michael Moore lands a solid jab
01:11:07And follows up to the body
01:11:08Holyfield rocking back just a little bit
01:11:11Right hand snaps Holyfield's head back
01:11:14The chance is here for Moore
01:11:17You have to suspect he needs at least a knockdown
01:11:20Maybe not a knockout
01:11:21There's only been one knockdown in the fight
01:11:24It was Moore who went down
01:11:26Briefly
01:11:27Early
01:11:27Holyfield miscalculated
01:11:31He thought that Moore was just going to hang on this round
01:11:34And I guess once he come alive and realize he's going to fight
01:11:37He'll pick the pace back up again
01:11:38But he just miscalculated
01:11:39Misjudged Moore
01:11:41Holyfield coming back with the two weapons that have served him so well
01:11:45Left hook, straight right hand
01:11:46Straight right hand, left hook
01:11:48Moore, energy sacked for the moment
01:11:54Content only to push Avanda off
01:11:57Not punching
01:11:58Now here's the jab
01:11:59And another
01:12:00Avanda's going to throw that straight right hand
01:12:04For a minute and 42 seconds
01:12:05And dare Moore to try to walk through it
01:12:08You're looking at the dogged determination
01:12:25Of a man for whom it has meant everything
01:12:29In life and in boxing
01:12:31Vandaholifield has proven to me
01:12:36That there's no one in boxing with a bigger heart
01:12:39This guy is everything you want in a fighter
01:12:41And that's all you want is heart
01:12:43When you can come into the ring at maybe 70, 80% of your best
01:12:47As appears to be the case for the champion tonight
01:12:49And still find a way
01:12:51As appears to be the case for the champion
01:12:53When he couldn't do anything else
01:12:56He fought for his title
01:12:57Well Moore had a big first minute in this round
01:13:09But every round is three minutes
01:13:11And with Avanda-Holifield
01:13:13Virtually every title fight
01:13:15Is 12 full rounds
01:13:17One last assault from the challenger
01:13:35And that's that brave chin
01:13:38That just doesn't need any more punches on it
01:13:40Avanda
01:13:41The question now is
01:14:08Can the officials
01:14:11Give the heavyweight championship of the world
01:14:15To more Michael Moore
01:14:18On a close fight like this
01:14:19In which he's been knocked down
01:14:21Arrow Letterman
01:14:22Your final result
01:14:23I still maintain
01:14:25It doesn't get any closer than that
01:14:27This fight was really close
01:14:29I had it six rounds to six
01:14:31I mean
01:14:32I had it even in rounds
01:14:33114
01:14:34113
01:14:36Avanda-Holifield
01:14:37I had Holifield winning by one point
01:14:39Based on a knockdown
01:14:41I think that Michael Moore
01:14:42Did pull out the last round
01:14:44I think this fight
01:14:45Is as close as he can possibly get
01:14:47But I think Avanda
01:14:48Is just going to win it by a point
01:14:50George
01:14:51Do you agree that Moore won that 12th round?
01:14:53Not really at all
01:14:54Moore came out and surprised Holifield
01:14:56But Holifield took over
01:14:57And took charge again
01:14:58He's champion of the world
01:15:00And you've got to do more than
01:15:01Win 30 seconds of a round
01:15:03To rip this knockdown
01:15:04In my mind now
01:15:05But I'm not the thinker I used to be
01:15:06I'll say this
01:15:08It's a good thing for Moore
01:15:10That the judges don't listen
01:15:12To trainer Teddy Atlas
01:15:13Between rounds
01:15:14They would certainly know
01:15:15How Teddy scored it
01:15:16Right now
01:15:17Let's go to ring announcer
01:15:18Michael Buffer
01:15:19For the official decision
01:15:20Ladies and gentlemen
01:15:22Here at Caesars Palace
01:15:23We go
01:15:25To the scorecards
01:15:26Dolby Shirley
01:15:27Scores the bout
01:15:28114
01:15:30To 114
01:15:31He has it even
01:15:33Chuck Jemba scores the bout
01:15:36116
01:15:37To 112
01:15:38And Jerry Roth scores it
01:15:41115
01:15:41To 114
01:15:43For the winner by majority decision
01:15:45And new
01:15:47Heavyweight
01:15:49Champion of the world
01:15:52Michael
01:15:55Moore
01:15:57Give him up for a
01:16:24Give him up for a
01:16:25Give him up for a
01:16:26There's Teddy Atlas
01:16:39He's got a heavyweight champion now
01:16:42Tutored by Custom Auto
01:16:44Involved early on
01:16:46In the career of Mike Tyson
01:16:48After a confrontation with Tyson
01:16:52Over behavior in the gym
01:16:53Teddy Atlas
01:16:54Was removed from that situation
01:16:56And lost his chance
01:16:57At that time
01:16:58To work with a heavyweight
01:16:59Titleist
01:16:59Now
01:17:00Finally
01:17:01He's got one
01:17:01Now to Larry Merchant
01:17:03In the ring
01:17:03With the new champ
01:17:04Michael Moore
01:17:06You're the heavyweight
01:17:07Champion of the world
01:17:08Yes sir
01:17:09Did you believe
01:17:10At the end
01:17:11That they would give you
01:17:12The decision
01:17:13Even though you were
01:17:14Knocked down
01:17:14And it was a fairly
01:17:15Close fight
01:17:16Excuse me
01:17:16First of all
01:17:17I'd like to thank
01:17:18The Heavenly Father
01:17:18And that fight
01:17:19Was dedicated to my son
01:17:20Who was home
01:17:21Hey enough
01:17:21Everyone talked about
01:17:24The fight
01:17:25Going 12 rounds
01:17:26If I could take it or not
01:17:27I just had to keep him
01:17:29Off of my jab
01:17:29And I did it
01:17:32I worked seven
01:17:32Seven and a half hard weeks
01:17:34I got it
01:17:35Alright we're going to show you
01:17:37The replay
01:17:38Of the knockdown
01:17:39In round two
01:17:40You describe
01:17:41Or was it round three
01:17:42You describe what happened
01:17:44I remember he stunned me
01:17:47With one
01:17:47Then he came
01:17:48With a one two
01:17:49I think
01:17:49Because you had the best
01:17:51Of it earlier
01:17:52In that exchange
01:17:52Before a left
01:17:53Got you down
01:17:54It was a good shot
01:17:54You weren't hurt though
01:17:55Were you
01:17:56No sir
01:17:56I was stunned for a minute
01:17:57Boxing is a sport
01:17:59Where you want to get hit
01:18:00Alright
01:18:00Teddy Atlas
01:18:02Was riding you
01:18:03Like a jockey
01:18:04Through the home stretch
01:18:05In those last three
01:18:05Or four rounds
01:18:06Telling you that
01:18:07This was the opportunity
01:18:08Of a lifetime
01:18:09What did that mean to you
01:18:10That's what he was
01:18:11Supposed to do
01:18:12He pushed me
01:18:12And we worked on that
01:18:14In the gym
01:18:14And you know
01:18:15I like a person like that
01:18:16Just to push me like that
01:18:17Was there anything
01:18:19In particular
01:18:20That he said
01:18:21That rung a bell
01:18:22When he said
01:18:22This is the one opportunity
01:18:23In a lifetime
01:18:24You've got twelve minutes
01:18:25To go
01:18:25He told me
01:18:26This was for my son
01:18:27And I pushed
01:18:28I pushed hard for my son
01:18:30Did you sense
01:18:31That Evander Holyfield
01:18:33Was not all there
01:18:34During much of this fight
01:18:36I'd have to ask Teddy
01:18:38Teddy kept
01:18:38Instilling in my mind
01:18:40That this is what
01:18:41I have to do
01:18:41I want to say hi
01:18:42To all the people
01:18:43Who supported me
01:18:44Back in Manesson
01:18:44In Amman Valley
01:18:45Detroit
01:18:45I'm coming home
01:18:46Thank you very much
01:18:48Michael Moore
01:18:49Thank you
01:18:49Heavyweight champion
01:18:50Of the world
01:18:51In a moment
01:18:52We'll have
01:18:53Here we have
01:18:54All right
01:18:57Here we have Evander Holyfield
01:18:58Evander
01:18:59Did the clock
01:19:01Just run out
01:19:02Out of you tonight
01:19:03Well you know
01:19:03First of all
01:19:04I'd like to thank God
01:19:05But you know
01:19:07For me
01:19:08Just even lasting
01:19:09Around
01:19:09You know
01:19:10I did all that I had
01:19:11And you know
01:19:12Left handed
01:19:13He's been left handed
01:19:14And you know
01:19:15He's just going to get off
01:19:16Like I wanted to
01:19:17That left handedness
01:19:19Gave you a problem
01:19:20In fighting
01:19:21A big problem
01:19:22But you know
01:19:23I trained for it
01:19:24And he was able
01:19:25To get off
01:19:25And I'd take my hat off
01:19:26You know
01:19:27He fought a
01:19:28Rugged fight
01:19:29Did you
01:19:30Do you think
01:19:30It's fair
01:19:31That you knocked him down
01:19:33It's a very
01:19:33Very close fight
01:19:35To lose the heavyweight championship
01:19:37On that kind of decision
01:19:38Well you know
01:19:39I wasn't watching the fight
01:19:41I was in the fight
01:19:41You know
01:19:42Maybe when I see it on tape
01:19:43I have a
01:19:44Different outlook on it
01:19:45All I know now
01:19:46Is that
01:19:47I'm tired
01:19:48And I'm sore
01:19:49And you know
01:19:50I just want to get some rest
01:19:51Now tell me about the eye
01:19:53It was a punch
01:19:54That opened the eye
01:19:55How much
01:19:56Of a factor
01:19:57Was it in the fight
01:19:58Well it was a big factor
01:19:59You know
01:19:59It kept running in my eyes
01:20:01And you know
01:20:03I did what I could
01:20:03You know
01:20:04With the cut
01:20:04And I realized
01:20:05That you know
01:20:06Being a champion
01:20:06You've got to fight
01:20:07In all circumstances
01:20:08Did you make a mistake
01:20:10By not having
01:20:11Ace Murata
01:20:12Your old cut man
01:20:13In the corner
01:20:13To take care of it
01:20:14Well no
01:20:15Not at all
01:20:15I'm telling you
01:20:16It wasn't to a point
01:20:17Where that
01:20:17That it stopped me
01:20:19I did what I had to do
01:20:20And that's all
01:20:22You can ever do
01:20:23Is do what you have to do
01:20:24You have to fight
01:20:24In all circumstances
01:20:25Do you think
01:20:26That fighting so many
01:20:27Big men
01:20:28Through the years
01:20:28Including that highly
01:20:29Emotional fight
01:20:30Against Riddick Bowe
01:20:32Just five months ago
01:20:33Just took it out of you
01:20:34And it's just not there anymore
01:20:36You know
01:20:36I can't make up an excuse
01:20:37That Mike Moore fought
01:20:38A great fight
01:20:39He was able to get off
01:20:40And you know
01:20:41I did what I could
01:20:42And I can't
01:20:43Put it on that
01:20:44I was highly motivated
01:20:45When I came in here
01:20:46And I prayed to God
01:20:48And I felt that victory
01:20:49Would be mine
01:20:50And upon losing this
01:20:51It could possibly be a victory
01:20:52Maybe I need to stay home
01:20:53With the kids
01:20:54A little bit more longer
01:20:55Is that a retirement announcement?
01:20:58Well no
01:20:58I haven't said that
01:21:00I need to go home to rest
01:21:01Just like if I were the one
01:21:02I need to go home to rest
01:21:03And think about it
01:21:04Thank you very much
01:21:05Evander
01:21:06Thank you very much
01:21:06Back to you
01:21:08Chairman at ringside
01:21:09Alright
01:21:09Thank you very much
01:21:10Larry Merchant
01:21:11George Foreman
01:21:12You could have fooled me
01:21:13I frankly thought
01:21:14Under these circumstances
01:21:15In that kind of a fight
01:21:16And especially considering
01:21:17The knockdown
01:21:17That the champion
01:21:18Would get the decision
01:21:19Or perhaps we would see a draw
01:21:21You?
01:21:21I think Evander Hallofield
01:21:22He hopped, skipped
01:21:23And dropped too many
01:21:24Managers and promoters
01:21:25Listen
01:21:26The Duval people
01:21:27Have got too many
01:21:28Pieces of paper
01:21:29With too many different fighters
01:21:30I'm hurt
01:21:31And I'm scarred
01:21:32By a great performance
01:21:33Evander should have won that fight
01:21:35And I'm going to have
01:21:36Eat heavy tonight
01:21:37To get over this
01:21:37So you're suggesting
01:21:39When you say
01:21:39The Duval people
01:21:40Have too many pieces of paper
01:21:41With too many fighters
01:21:42That their promotional rights
01:21:44May have played a role
01:21:45In this decision
01:21:45Somebody's going to have
01:21:46To step in and say
01:21:47Hey, who are you with?
01:21:49What fighter are you with?
01:21:50But George
01:21:50They hold the promotional rights
01:21:52To Holyfield as well
01:21:53Right
01:21:53Maybe it's coming
01:21:54Well, anyway
01:21:55I'm not going to talk
01:21:56A whole lot about it
01:21:57But I have seen enough
01:21:58Something is going to have
01:22:00To be done
01:22:00One promoter
01:22:01Owning one fighter
01:22:03It's time that boxing
01:22:04Make a gigantic stand
01:22:06And get this junk out of here
01:22:07Once and for all
01:22:07So you're saying
01:22:08You believe this was
01:22:08A very bad decision?
01:22:10A very terrible decision
01:22:12Evander Holyfield
01:22:13Fought his heart out
01:22:14He was cut
01:22:14He stood in there
01:22:16And quietly
01:22:17He was ahead on points
01:22:18And that's just my opinion
01:22:19And I didn't eat a whole lot
01:22:20To do, you know
01:22:21All right
01:22:21Ultimately it turned on
01:22:23The opinion of the judges
01:22:24And let's take a look
01:22:24At the scorecards
01:22:25Right now
01:22:26Where you will see
01:22:27One amazing discrepancy
01:22:29Which is
01:22:30That in the second round
01:22:32Well, there are the three scorecards
01:22:33Jampa, Roth, and Shirley
01:22:35And of course
01:22:36Chuck Jampa
01:22:37Sees it as
01:22:37116 to 112
01:22:39For Holyfield
01:22:40But here's the amazing discrepancy
01:22:42In the second round
01:22:43When after
01:22:44Vicious exchanges
01:22:45On both sides
01:22:46Evander Holyfield
01:22:48Floored
01:22:48Michael Moorer
01:22:49We find
01:22:51When we look
01:22:51At the scorecards
01:22:52That none of the three judges
01:22:54Scored it
01:22:54A 10 out
01:22:5510 to 8 round
01:22:56For Holyfield
01:22:56As our Harold Letterman did
01:22:58And indeed
01:22:59One judge
01:22:59Jerry Roth
01:23:00Who ultimately
01:23:01Gave the fight
01:23:02To Moorer
01:23:02By one point
01:23:03Scored the second round
01:23:05An even round
01:23:06I'm telling you
01:23:07Something is going to have to be done
01:23:09And maybe it's time
01:23:10That I go into politics
01:23:11I tell me
01:23:11They have good banquets
01:23:12In that business
01:23:13You think you've ever seen
01:23:14An even round scored
01:23:15In a championship fight
01:23:16When a knockdown
01:23:16Was scored by the champion
01:23:17No
01:23:18I'm very disappointed
01:23:19And the people at home
01:23:20Should not lose face
01:23:21With boxing
01:23:22It's going to get better
01:23:23Alright
01:23:23More to come
01:23:25No doubt
01:23:25In the week ahead
01:23:26About this one
01:23:27Let's go up to our host
01:23:28James Brown
01:23:29Alright Jim
01:23:31Thank you very much
01:23:31And you mentioned
01:23:32More to come
01:23:33Well it is going to be
01:23:33In the form of
01:23:34Michael Moorer
01:23:35Who
01:23:35It was interesting
01:23:36Teddy Atlas
01:23:37His trainer
01:23:37Wanted Michael Moorer
01:23:38To come out
01:23:39And to fight
01:23:39As if he had been hit
01:23:40By a wild pack of dogs
01:23:42At the outset
01:23:43I thought Michael Moorer
01:23:44Was relatively judicious
01:23:45Yes the jab
01:23:46Did work quite effectively
01:23:47But he really didn't
01:23:48Display things
01:23:49Until the last round
01:23:50As a matter of fact
01:23:50Let's take a look
01:23:51At that last round
01:23:52That's as active
01:23:54As Michael Moorer
01:23:55Was all evening long
01:23:56And that's exactly
01:23:57What Teddy Riley
01:23:58Teddy Atlas
01:23:58Wanted to see
01:23:59Throughout
01:24:00Again it was a very
01:24:02Strong first half
01:24:03Of the round
01:24:03For Michael Moorer
01:24:04Evander Holyfield
01:24:05Did respond
01:24:06But to close out
01:24:07The round
01:24:08It was Michael Moorer
01:24:09Taking the challenge
01:24:10Nodding
01:24:11Saying yes
01:24:12I can handle it
01:24:12And I feel that
01:24:13I am in fact
01:24:14The champion
01:24:15And he was
01:24:15Born out
01:24:16As accurate
01:24:17The new
01:24:18Heavyweight champion
01:24:19Of the world
01:24:19And folks
01:24:20Let me tell you
01:24:20History has been made
01:24:22As Michael Moorer
01:24:23Now is the first
