Police have advised New England and North West residents to take care on the region's roads during this year's Easter long weekend. Video by Peter Harden and NSW Police Force, April 16, 2025.

00:24what happens is we take the plates off the car for a period of three months,
00:27they get returned to service in several hours. You're going to get a traffic
00:31infringement notice or exceed the speed limit by over 45 and your license will be suspended
00:37on the spot here for a period of six months. So we're just, please, we're just begging people
00:44do the right thing behind the wheel and we'll get you to your destination and then home safely.
00:49How many officers will be out in the region over this long weekend?
00:52Are we going to have maximum amount of police, highway patrol, general duties,
00:56all sections of the police? We'll be enforcing the road rules, completing stationary and mobile
01:04RVT and also random drug testing as well. So we will be out and about, we'll be anywhere,
01:10any time, doing the testing and ensuring that drivers are doing the right thing.
