00:00Well, we take a look at the recent precipitation with this system that affected mostly northern
00:04Minnesota, including some fresh snowfall there, a break from the wet weather for a couple of days
00:08with a warming trend, but more rain, even thunder possible Thursday into Thursday night.
00:22So most of the precip the last few days of the system was confined in northeastern Minnesota.
00:27That's where we had anywhere from a quarter to half inch, three quarters of an inch of precip.
00:31And you can kind of see some of that very light precip that generally fell with some of the showers that
00:35developed yesterday. But snow did pan out for parts of northeastern Minnesota, mostly up into the
00:40boundary waters, a few inches of snow around Seagull Lake, about an inch around the Ely areas.
00:46Maybe that's the last one. The next couple of systems look to be mostly liquid, even for northern
00:51Minnesota. In April, we're already halfway through, if you can believe it. And it's kind of a mixed
00:55picture for temperatures and precip. Twin cities and southeastern Minnesota, we're seeing below
00:59normal precip for the first half of the month, while the North Shore and western Minnesota has
01:03seen above normal precip. And temperatures generally slightly below normal in southeastern
01:09and northeastern Minnesota, but above normal in the northwestern and southwestern part of the
01:12state. And the Twin Cities precisely on target for average temperatures for the month of April,
01:18for this first half anyway. We've got high pressure that kind of slid to the south,
01:22just to our west, so not fully in control of our weather. Still some low clouds left over in
01:27northeastern Minnesota, but overall, fairly bright skies here for the southern half of the state. We
01:31should keep things at least partly cloudy, more sunshine than clouds through the day today.
01:36And even into tomorrow, we'll see some high clouds move in later in the day that'll kind of filter out
01:40the sun a bit, but it's going to be warmer tomorrow too. And yeah, a pretty nice Wednesday on the way
01:45before that rain develops here for Thursday. Mostly in the 50s across southern Minnesota today, still
01:49just near 40 in the Arrowhead with that lingering moisture cloud cover up there. And it's going to
01:54be a cold night tonight. 30s across southern Minnesota, but upper teens in northeastern
01:59Minnesota, places like Ely, probably will be around 18, 19, 20 degrees overnight tonight. But 60s
02:05spreading across southern Minnesota tomorrow, 50s to the north, cooler along the north shore with the
02:10southeast flow developing off of the lake. It's going to keep things in the 40s the next couple of
02:14days. Well, we warm up into the upper 60s Thursday, low 70s in southwestern Minnesota,
02:18and that could help fuel maybe some thunderstorms late Thursday. We're going to see showers and
02:23thunderstorms kind of develop here midday Thursday. Not an all-day rain though. With
02:28temperatures in the 60s, you know it's not going to rain all day. But we're going to have kind of
02:31scattered showers and thunderstorms developing. And yeah, in the form of some thunder potentially
02:36here, especially midday Thursday, this is the lightning forecast from the European model.
02:40You can see some thunderstorms in that activity. But the risk of severe weather does look to stay to
02:45the south of us here. Iowa is the primary region we're watching for a slight risk. Level two out of
02:50five for severe storms Thursday into Thursday night with a marginal risk into the southern counties of
02:55the state. But looks like any thunderstorms that develop may be a hail threat for far southern
03:00Minnesota. Otherwise, garden variety thunderstorms for most of us. And this might eliminate our
03:05precip deficit. We're about a half inch behind for the first half of April. Well, the blend of the
03:10models brings us about a half inch of rain here Thursday into Thursday night, which could erase
03:14that if it pans up. And another system developing late Sunday into Monday will bring more rain. And
03:20then behind that, another shot of showers coming in for probably late Tuesday into Wednesday. So kind
03:25of an active pattern developing again by the end of the weekend into next week. 55 today though,
03:32pretty close to normal. Still breezy though. 10 to 20 mile an hour winds out of the northwest.
03:37Nice tomorrow though. Just again, some high clouds. 62 after a chilly start, but we do warm up in the
03:43afternoon. 67 Thursday. More clouds around and some of those scattered showers and thunderstorms
03:48developing. That system should pull out of here Friday. We should see sunshine again Saturday.
03:53Clouds increase Sunday. With that, again, chances some showers and maybe thunderstorms developing again
03:58late Sunday into Monday.
